Cabin holiday rentals in Shawnee National Forest

Beautiful place! Second time I’ve stayed and they are always super friendly! They make sure you aren’t having any issues especially if there is any change in the weather.

Beautiful home, a great place to relax and enjoy time with family! Everything was exactly as described. The hosts went above and beyond with their home it was very cute and comfortable. They have lots of helpful information with things to do in the surrounding area.

The pictures are great, but it’s even better in person! Everything was perfectly clean, well kept, and many small details that make you feel appreciated as a guest. It truly doesn’t get better for a couples getaway. We hope to come back sometime! I cannot say enough good things about this place and the hosts! 10/10

Beautiful place to stay! The lake is amazing to wake up to in the morning and so peaceful at night!

We enjoyed our stay in this cozy cabin, especially the hot tub. The bed and pillow could have been more comfortable, and we had trouble getting the HVAC working properly. It's a tight space but has what is needed, and the location is close to the Outpost store and the Garden of the Gods.

I absolutely LOVED my stay here. The host were extremely helpful we had a bit of a hiccup with my account being hacked and we were able to work right through it together. The area was so beautiful and just 20 minutes away there is a nice little city that is easily accessible full of restaurants, grocery stores and anything else you may need. Not only that but the hiking trails near by are incredible almost reminded me of being home in Colorado. The only thing I wish is that I stayed longer! I will be back for a much longer stay.

Fantastic week staying in this cabin in the Shawnee National Forest. Great location for quickly getting to various highlights in the region. The log cabin is outfitted very well with Native American decor and has a great kitchen and outdoor grill with a Kroger less than 10 minutes away. The hot tub and fire pit were great for unwinding at night. We look forward to returning for more hikes and vineyards in the area in the fall and would definitely stay here again.

My friend and I met at Jill's cabin for a little catch-up/getaway and enjoyed being surrounded by a variety of farm animals, having lovely trails to explore, all outside the screened porch. The hot tub was well-heated and clean. Overall, a wonderful, relaxing stay and I hope to return!

From the moment I stepped on the property it didn't feel like an AirBNB. I can truly say it felt like home. 💖🙏🏽🥹 I did not want to leave. I was about to get the rest that I needed and enjoyed myself at the same time. I am so grateful that Amie decided to be an AirBnB Host. Super Host!! We will definitely be going back. Glory to God!!

This is a perfect little cottage near the lake. It had everything we needed, including nice outdoor patio spaces for eating and a big firepit. You can't see much of the lake from the cottage, but it's easy to get to - across a quiet road and down a very long flight of stairs. There's a nice big dock for fishing, swimming, star gazing at night, boating, and just relaxing and enjoying the view (it's a particularly scenic section of the lake because there is no development on the other side of the water - just forest!). We loved having access to kayaks and enjoyed fishing off the dock. Would love to return in summer when we can swim and do even more water activities!

Really enjoyed Gram's cabin. So peaceful and loved the front porch. Close to wineries and state parks. We visit this area multiple times a year. Went to Bald Knob Cross of Peace and got some great night photos. We felt right at home and will come back.

Spacious, well stocked and clean. Private setting but still close to town. Lots of activities such as the Wii, basketball hoop game and cornhole in the garage. The primary bed is a little firm and very high. Amazing deck overlooking the trees. Close to giant city state park and an easy drive to fern Clyffe. Was a great stay for a long weekend!

Loved our stay! We drove down from Chicago with friends to hike in Garden of the Gods over a three-day weekend and this was the perfect spot. Easy access to the forest and a great place to unwind at the end of the day. Everything about the cabin shows thoughtfulness and concern for the guests. We particularly enjoyed the fire pit in the evening and watching birds at the feeder in the morning. We hope to be back!

Totally worth it! Such a Beautiful and peaceful location, house in pristine conditions as pictured and with all needed appliances for a comfortable stay. Great host too!

This place was fantastic! It had everything we needed. Beautiful surroundings - we felt like we were on a retreat. And yet we were just 30 min from Carbondale where our daughter was graduating from SIU. Hoping to stay here again later in the summer.

Wow! Wow! Wow! I rented this cabin for my husband and a few friends that went to Illinois for a hunting trip. I literally cannot say enough great things about this place and about Wally & Vickie. To say that they went above and beyond would be an understatement. Wally seriously went out of his way to accommodate my husband and his friends. His kindess and generosity did not go unnoticed. In addition to the gracious host, the cabin itself was beautiful, clean, and well stocked to meet all of our groups' needs. My husband is already looking forward to renting this space again next year!
