  • My stay at Michael and Nolwenn's cottage was great. It was the perfect base for a weekend getaway from Edinburgh.

    Grace2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage, perfect location for Loch Lomond and surrounds, friendly helpful hosts.

    Jamie2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Michael and Nolwenn's cosy cabin. As a non-driver it was wonderful to find a peaceful place to stay within easy reach of beautiful scenery yet right next to the train station and close to local amenities. Michael kindly met us from the station and helped us with our bags but it was so close - just across the road! We walked to the loch and went to the Sea Life and Birds of Prey centres. It was February so the weather wasn't great and sadly we couldn't make use of the pretty deck and gardens, but the cabin was toasty warm and there were plenty of board games, books and DVDs to keep us entertained. In fact, this is the best-equipped self-catering accommodation I've ever stayed in. Michael and Nolwenn have thought of everything, especially in the kitchen: as well as all the cutlery, crockery and utensils you'd need to cook, they provide tea, coffee, oil, sauces, salt, pepper, herbs and spices, even foil to wrap sandwiches in for picnics. These are the little things you often end up wastefully buying and leaving behind when you are self-catering and travelling by public transport. The accommodation was immaculately clean and tidy, the bed comfy, communication clear and efficient. An exemplary Airbnb experience!

    Emily2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Nolwenn were lovely hosts! The place is every bit as cosy as it looks, located very close to Loch Lomond (the cottage has direct access to a riverside path that leads you to the Loch!) and Michael and Nolwenn gave us lots of useful information which we took advantage of during our stay! Would 100% recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the Loch Lomond area.

  • Fabulous accommodation, fabulous hosts, would definitely return

    Jen2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Nolwenn are extremely kind hosts, full of useful tips of the area. The cottage is conveniently just a few minutes walk from the train depot, with plenty of privacy and a view of the river. Great place to spend a few nights away.

    David2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • This magical oasis hidden on the River Leven banks of Balloch, is not to be missed. Within the first few moments into the cabin you already feel right at home, with a cosy aesthetic and some of the comfiest sheets we had ever slept in. The surrounding garden is genuinely the most magical area you will ever find yourself. Your inner child will be filled with wonder and adventure as you meander your way around its twists and turns. Waking up to a cuppa on the balcony is the ideal way to start your day and as you watch the sun peak through the trees you’ll realise that you never want to leave. Fisherwood Cottage is absolutely stunning and we can guarantee that it’s the best way to see Balloch.

    Tom2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a cosy, well equipped little cottage! We had a lovely time here. Michael and Nolwenn have put a lot of work into making sure that guests are comfortable, including a really detailed and easy to read handbook about the cottage and the local area.

    James2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this flat as a weekend get away. It is lovely, fresh and stylish in appearance and very comfortable. Really easy to get to, especially if you arrive at Helensburgh Central train station, it is a 5 minute walk along the street. Close to lots of cafes, restaurants and the water front. Easy commuter links elsewhere thanks to trains and buses - if you don't want to use the car. Lovely extra touches of all things Scottish which we loved - and we ARE Scottish! A great wee bolt hole and we wish we'd booked another night. If you are a light sleeper you should know that the combination boiler is located in a cupboard in the bedroom - pack ear plugs and you won't know it is there.

Delightful one bedroom garden cottage ideally placed for exploring Loch Lomond and the West coast of Scotland while close enough to Glasgow to allow easy access to the city by road or rail.
Attached single storey cottage with double bedroom, shower room, fitted kitchen diner and conservatory set in a private walled garden. There is no private parking space but there is ample, free on street parking.
The cottage is in a quiet neighbourhood. It is a short, flat, walking distance to the small town centre and two minutes to the sea front which is lined with shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants. There are two train stations, Helensburgh Central to travel to Glasgow and Edinburgh and Helensburgh Upper for the West Highland Line to travel north. You can also travel to Glasgow on this line but there are fewer trains. There is a good tourist information office in the town, a small cinema and the Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed 'Hill House'. There are two supermarkets within walking distance and a larger one on the outskirts of the town. There are also two petrol stations a short drive from the cottage. Helensburgh has two sailing clubs. The area is great for walking and cycling. There is a cycle path to Loch Lomond and beyond and good local walking trails. The John Muir Way starts in Helensburgh. If you bring bikes and are interested in cycling then I can put you in touch with local cyclists who can give you guidance about some of the best local routes. Bikes can be hired from Magic Cycles based in Bowling but you should book in advance in the summer. Check out their website.
  • Linda’s place was absolutely amazing! It’s basically being home away from home. The best Airbnb we’ve been so far and we’ve been to quite a few.

    Catherine2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • So much about this place was outstanding. Linda was such an unbelievable host – she thought of EVERYTHING! I was pleasantly surprised so often at all of her thoughtful touches and things she remembered so that your stay is the most comfortable- what a pro! Didn’t hurt that she was also very nice to talk to :) The house is spotless and very comfortable immediately. It is obviously a cozy, small place, but it is perfect.

    Lora2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place is located just outside of the centre of Helensburgh, about a 5 minute stroll into the centre. A lovely little cottage with everything you would need for a quiet getaway to Scotland. Milk, juice and breakfast bits were a lovely extra touch, as were the umbrellas!

  • Beautiful little cottage in a very good location for travel to the Loch Lomond area and western Scotland. There were lots of amenities on offer, and we appreciated the little jug of milk in the fridge so we could have a cup of tea after a long drive up. Everything was clean and in good order, and the bed was very comfy. We would definitely recommend 'The Little House' to other travellers.

    Cherie2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place is a true gem right in the heart of Helensburgh, just a few steps from the water front. The conservatory is absolutely beautiful and makes it easy to relax after a long day of exploring. Helensburgh is a quaint little town with very nice restaurants and it's in the perfect location to head out to Loch Lomond and the Highlands. Communication was easy and Linda was extremely welcoming. Overall, I highly recommend a stay at Linda's place! :)

She was easily contactable during our visit for any questions we had. The apartment itself was stylish, very well-equipped and comfortable- lots of little extras made it feel like a boutique hotel experience! Am Meadhan is centrally located, so perfect for the good range of restaurants and coffee shops that Helensburgh has to offer. The train station is nearby should you want to venture further. We had a great time - the apartment and the hospitality were fantastic. We would definitely look to stay at Am Meadhan again!

  • Our stay at Gordon’s place was nice. It is about a 10 minute walk east of the train station on the main road, which made it fairly accessible to downtown. The bed and sofa are super comfy, the shower is great, and the presence of a washing machine made our stay much more convenient. It needs some maintenance and updates, but it gave us everything we needed for a nice few days.

  • The apartment was an excellent location and had plenty of bedding and amenities. A note that the apartment is on the third floor, which was not a problem for us. The smell of cigarette smoke was noticeable in the hallway outside the apartment. This did not bother my group but figured it’s good to be aware of. We really enjoyed the atmosphere of the Clyde Bar just around the corner.

  • My second time staying at Lisa's place, just as cosy and clean as the first. Perfect place to stay whilst working away.

    Josh2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely clean and very cosy. I stayed here whilst working nearby and the place suited me perfectly.

    Josh2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, cosy cottage with close links to Loch Lomond. We were welcomed by Lisa and Hamish who were there to help us at any time. The cottage was quiet and peaceful, great for a good nights sleep, and only a 10min walk to Helensburgh centre. We would highly recommend this place to stay :)

    Lauren2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in a great location to Helensburgh center, 20 mins walk down hill and if you don't fancy the walk back up the hill it's roughly £4 in a taxi. There is everything you need to cook a meal in the kitchen and Lisa swfitly provided some cooking oil on request. The whole cottage was spotlessly clean. The boiler had a couple of hiccups, however Lisa was round to take a look and fix the issue. The communication between the hosts was very easy and they responded instantly. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

    Lauren2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first Airbnb and it was a great success. Lisa’s place is spotless and in a great area for exploring Loch Lomond and the surrounding area. You have a good selection of bars and restaurants only 10 mins walk away. Can certainly recommend Annaya if you fancy a really authentic Indian. 10/10 from us

  • Very comfortable flat.

    Lee2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • West Durie Cottage is cosy, quiet and private, in a wonderful location within easy reach of both town and countryside - I travelled by train and happily walked around the area. Lisa’s place has a huge comfy bed, everything works as it should and thoughtful touches such as nice soap, salt & pepper grinders and a good range of crockery & cutlery are provided. I had a lovely stay there on my own for a long weekend.

    Mary2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was my 1st time not only using airbnb but also traveling out of the country and Lisa and her husband were great. Easy communication, quick responses and very understanding. The house was very clean and comfortable for my husband and I.

  • A clean, spacious flat. Super cosy. Walking distance from the town centre. Helpful, friendly host.

    Kira2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A very cosy flat within easy reach of Helensburgh (closest train station is Craigendoran, but it's a lovely 15-min walk into Helensburgh, or you could get the train for one stop). It's 1960s built, and still has many of the original features - the communal class doors and flooring. It's ex-local authority, but that's a good thing - it means the flat is really large. Huge living room, with separate dining area. Main bedroom is also huge. It's very cosy and warm - we were there in December and the radiators are quick to warm things up. There's a lovely view of the Clyde from the back windows.

  • Helen is a really warmhearted host with a wonderful and cosy home. She made it easy for us to feel at home. Communication was easy at all times. Helensburgh is also a good starting point for trips to Loch Lomond with good restaurants and pubs. We really enjoyed our stay and would come back any time. Best wishes to you, Helen. Greetings from Hamburg :)

  • It amused us that this was an emergency choice as everywhere else had been booked up by other people going to the funeral we were attending. We had dogs, so that left us with limited options. Helen was incredibly welcoming and her home is exquisitely decorated. Wonderful bath and shower too : ) Highly recommended. I also recommend using the website 'borrow my doggie' if you need help with your dogs. A lovely lady from there looked after our dogs while we were at the funeral.

  • Hopewell Cottage is a phenomenal historic house and Helen is a kind and knowledgeable host who just wants the best for everyone. She had lots of great tips (a hidden hike behind Hill House) and was very flexible and accommodating. Looking forward to visiting again if I’m up in Helensburgh.

  • Lovely flat. Nicely decorated and bright and airy. High ceilings make it feel spacious and I loved the minimal design. It was clean and very well equipped. There was some noise from the street at night, but this was to be expected for a weekend stay. The windows are double glazed and do keep out out much of the traffic noise so it wasn't a huge problem. Aileen was friendly and very helpful. Lots of lovely walks in the area. All in all a lovely stay and would happily book again :)

  • This apartment is better than expected. Perfect for two friends but great separation of space and would do well for 2 couples. Super stylish and comfortable. Very convenient to water train station with a short 2-3 min walk. The trailhead for the western start of the John Muir way is basically across the street! Highly recommend!

The 2 bedroom apartment is in a smart new building, (the upper right hand flat in the photo) newly built by the owners, Gareth and Andrea. It is a short walk from the restaurants, pubs and wine bars of this attractive Victorian town. Despite being central the building is on a quiet street and the apartment has 2 off street parking spaces. The apartment is on the first floor, a private entrance leads up a wide staircase to a bright south-facing living space containing a fully equipped kitchen.
There are 2 bedrooms, one with a shower room en-suite and one full bathroom off the hallway. The kitchen is fully equipped, it contains a washer drier and a dish washing machine.
Helensburgh is known for its Victorian architecture. Amongst the fine merchants houses is the beautiful Hill House by Charles Rennie Macintosh. Within 1 hour's drive of the town there is beautiful highland scenery; the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is a few miles to the east. Glasgow city centre is easily accessible with its fine culture, restaurants and shopping.
  • Great apartment close to centre of town. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Loved it!

  • This is a very comfortable apartment with lots of Edwardian style and amazing character. It's very well appointed, clean and in an excellent location (Helensburgh town centre is only a 10 minute walk). Margaret was a very friendly and accommodating host, who went out of her way to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable.

  • A lovely situation to explore Helensburgh and surrounding areas. Short walk to restaurants and local shops. We stayed here in November and the house was warm and cozy. The self contained semi detached wing has two bedrooms each with en-suite. A small sitting room and well appointed kitchen with all mod cons. There is parking and a private entrance with Margaret living next door. She was extremely welcoming and was on hand to answer any questions. We would certainly stay here again. Thank you Margaret and Stuart.

Just out of the small town of Helensburgh, we offer a peaceful retreat in our family house in the Scottish countryside. We have two bedrooms on the south side of our house that have access to a private bathroom. Our garden plays home to a weeping willow, apple and pear trees and plenty of space to unwind and enjoy the changing seasons. As a mature family we will be coming and going but always around to welcome and point towards our favourite gems of the area.
Our house is far from immaculate but if you like animals and a bit of an adventure then this is the place for you! :)
Endless walks through the gorgeous landscape, Loch Lomond a 20 minute drive or and many quaint pubs within walking distance. We are a gateway to The Scottish highlands.
  • We didn't meet Ellen but the stay was nice. No issues. The cats and dogs are very friendly and we had a very comfortable sleep.

  • Ellen and her family were love and accommodating, and waited to meet us personally! The room was very quaint and the bathroom was very clean. As noted in the description, it was a little dusty but that comes with the area and age of the house. A huge bonus was the free breakfast and the friendly kitten! Would stay again.

  • Amazing and comfortable house. Just the place a family needs while travelling. Jillian and her husband were very thoughtful and considerate as we were delayed in check out. Loved the small personal touches in the house decor.

    Vibhuti2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is one of the loveliest holiday places we have stayed in. It is incredibly clean, very comfortable and has thoughtful touches like a selection of teas and coffee and breakfast materials, including fresh bread, milk and eggs. Interesting books and access to Sky TV and Spotify were nice touches. The shower was powerful and warm. The kitchen functioned well as although small it was cleverly laid out. Jillian communicated quickly before arrival and we were able to check in earlier which was great, and when we were there she was helpful and left us to our own devices so it felt very private. We really enjoyed our short break and a big part of that was having such a lovely place to stay in, which made it very easy for us to relax straightaway and not worry about anything as it was all thought of for us!

Woodside is a stunning 1850s Victorian mansion. The beautifully renovated top floor apartment has two bedrooms and private bathroom. There is a seating area in the twin bedroom and a tea/coffee/snack area in the hall. An ideal base for visiting the area or for a stop-over. Grounds are extensive and views are breathtaking. Loch Long shore is at the bottom of the garden and there is an enclosed kids play area. Easy access to Loch Lomond, Glasgow, Arrochar Alps, Faslane and Coulport Naval bases.
Bedroom 1 has a double bed, chest of drawers and dressing table. Views from the window are stunning. Bedroom 2 has two single beds, two comfy chairs, a coffee table and a wall mounted TV. The bathroom has a bath with hand-held shower attachment and, what we think, is possibly the best view from a bathroom in the world! The hallway has a coffee machine, kettle, mini fridge and snacks. There is wifi, internet (apple) TV, central heating with a dedicated thermostat for your apartment. All towels and bedding, crockery and cutlery are provided along with access to a washer and drier. A travel-cot and bedding is available on request. The Airbnb apartment is accessed up a shared staircase (41 stairs) – our family apartment (not Airbnb) is on the floor below. There is an area in the entrance hall for coats, boots and shoes. There is also space for buggies or 2 bikes. The gardens are beautiful and are on ongoing project with many plants of interest. If it is the right season you will be given fruit/veg from the garden and greenhouse. Please be aware there are 41 steps up to the apartment so it may not be suitable for people with limited mobility.
Shops - Cove Store is about 2 mins drive away. It has beautiful local produce and all general supplies. A small supermarket (Co-Op) is 10 mins drive away in Rosneath and should provide for most needs. Other local amenities include a pharmacy, butchers and bank in Kilcreggan. There are two local cafes and a fine dining hotel all within 10 minutes drive.

  • Woodside Tower is really an authentic and special place, the house is very impressive and views from the top are fantastic. Our family loved it there. Jill is thinking about everything 3 steps ahead, and made our stay very smooth and nice. Kids got special treatment in toys, books, there are also lots of books and some games for adults. We were not bored a second even when stayed in all day because of the weather. I already recommended this AirBnB a lot :)

  • Jill’s place was one of the beautiful airbnbs I’ve ever stayed with friends/family. It was really cozy with a picturesque view of the garden and the sea. Coffee, Milk and some food were also provided for us. Jill was also quick to respond when we have question and even thoughtfully asking how we are during our stay. We also met Bonnie, her cat, which we love her as she is sweet and loves cuddles. Too bad we only got to stay there for a day but our vacation in Scotland was a bit short. We will surely stay there again if we ever come back.

    Keyti2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jill's place is amazing. We only stayed for one night and we would have loved to stay longer. The pictures don't lie, the view is quite breathtaking. The place in the house that was dedicated to our stay was very clean and cute, perfect for four adults. Jill gave us details, informations, snacks and everything so that we could be comfortable, a real treat ! We would have loved to stay longer. PS : as long as you're there, listen to Jill and go visit the Linn Gardens. It's very close and quite magical !

  • A fantastic base for us to explore Helensburgh and the surrounding countryside. The location is perfect for town and The Hill House and the street is quiet and beautifully maintained. We enjoyed our complimentary breakfast and found the house to be comfortable and warm (being unused to the Scottish climate!). Would thoroughly recommend this house, also note that it is also pet friendly with a safe, enclosed garden.

A door opens out to the back gardens. On the other side of the reception hall is a formal living room/dining room that features a gas burning stove for the cold nights. Sun room / lounge. The graceful holiday town of Helensburgh was named after the wife of Sir James Colquhoun, who founded the town at the end of the 18th century. Handsome buildings, wide elegant tree-lined streets, long promenade and attractive parks and gardens create a pleasantly distinguished atmosphere, even more so in summer as pleasure cruisers jostle at the pier. In upper Helensburgh, developed by wealthy Victorian Glasgow merchants, is Hill House, now in the care of the National Trust for Scotland. This exquisite building, complete with original furnishings, is renowned as the finest domestic masterpiece of the internationally famous Scots architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Other famous local connections include Henry Bell, originator of the steamship and John Logie Baird, the inventor of television. Walking, cycling and kayaking routes There are a number of footpaths in and around Helensburgh, and it is also the starting point for some long distance walking and kayaking. In the town itself there are footpaths inside the Duchess Woods, Argyll & Bute's only local nature reserve.Just outside the town there is an attractive footpath of 2 miles length (3 km) around Ardmore Point. A longer footpath is the Three Lochs Way which connects Loch Lomond with Helensburgh, the Gareloch and Loch Long, and which runs for 34 miles (55 km). The longest by far of all the walks with a local start is the John Muir Way. This commemorates John Muir who is celebrated worldwide as the "Father of National Parks" and runs from Helensburgh for 134 miles (215 km) to his birthplace at Dunbar in East Lothian. The Clyde Sea Lochs Trail is a road route from Dumbarton, through Helensburgh, round the Rosneath Peninsula, and ending at Arrochar, with information panels along the way. The quieter parts of the route will be of interest to cyclists, while geocaching can also be carried out. The Argyll Sea Kayak Trail also starts at Helensburgh pier and passes through some of Scotland's finest coastal scenery for around 95 miles (150 km), finishing at Oban. As well as many good quality bars and restaurants for every budget.
  • We enjoyed an excellent stay at Claire’s place. The welcome was warm, helped us get our bearings and flexible. The house was beautiful, extremely clean throughout and the perfect size! The bedrooms were really comfortable and cosy. Both lounges were perfect for relaxing in during the evenings, particulary the massive television with accompanying sound system. The location was ideal and, with the car, it took a few minutes to reach Helensburgh town centre. However, although close, the house was located in a quiet and peaceful location. Finally, in the kitchen and fridge, Claire left us a supply of shortbread, a mince pie, milk, butter, bread and a wee bottle - lovely touch, thank you! I would definitely recommend Claire’s place.

  • Just home from a fab stay at this house. I would highly recommend staying here. The house is beautifully decorated throughout with lots of thoughtfull touches such as milk, bread, eggs, butter, biscuits etc. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you could need for a stay. There are two large tvs downstairs with all the satellite channels and Netflix. Great wifi as well. The house is in a nice quiet area of Helensburgh, but still only a few minutes away from the main shops and restaurants. Claire met us on arrival and showed us round the house. Good communication at all times. We will definitely book to stay here again, 5*

  • The cottage was exceptional, from the location to the amenities that Claire provided. The gardens are beautiful and the view from the living room and the master bedroom is a delight. Helensburgh is a perfect place from which to explore the highlands, Glasgow and central Scotland. Claire checked in with us during our week stay to ensure that all was well. The photos show the cottage accurately and we would rent Claire's cottage again, as well as recommend it to others. Simply a wonderful place.

  • Claire is a lovely and attentive host. The cottage is absolutely lovely. It has a beautiful outlook over the Clyde, clean and comfortable living space. It is superbly located close to shops and restaurants and positioned for some nice long day trips as well. Although convenient it is also very private and quiet so that we heard birds singing not traffic. The amenities were excellent and Claire also provided a nice welcome package of coffee, bread, butter and etc. I would highly recommend this place,

  • Claire is a fantastic host, she’s has thought of everything. There were eggs and butter and fruit and cookies waiting for us. The house was spotless. The views from the bedroom are spectacular, especially at night. The decoration is perfect and so is the location. The house is within walking distance to everything you could need. The gardens both front and back are also charming. You couldn’t pick a better place from which to explore the area. We loved every minute of our stay.
