  • Great place to camp! Dennis and his wife are lovely people. There is a clean bathroom, outdoor shower and a common room inside their bed and breakfast that you can use their keureg, use a real bathroom and hang out during the day time. My wife and I had a great experience!

  • A dream for any camper on the road looking for a quaint, quiet stay! We pitched our tent right alongside a small garden, fire pit, and an apple tree. Dennis offers an outdoor shower and sink as well as the cleanest and freshest outdoor toilet I’ve ever encountered! Access to some of the amenities inside the guesthouse make this such an outstanding value. Be sure to check the rich history of the town of Acworth as well as the house itself! Would stay here again anytime!

  • We could not have been more pleased with this space! The gardens and yard are so beautiful and Dennis was amazingly kind---hospitality through the roof! He went out of his way many times to make sure we were comfortable, above and beyond what we expected for just camping out back of a guesthouse. This place is such a treat, don't miss staying here!!

Writers, artists, musicians, naturalists, social and environmental activists, families, students, travelers, outdoor enthusiasts, and people needing a respite from the buzz of life will enjoy the peace and wonder of our solar homestead and forest. For winter reservations, please read about accessing our home during winter conditions in the "Guest access" section
We have listings for our home. If by chance you choose a listing and receive a message that conveys it's unavailable, please try other listings. Other spaces: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/287850 https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/277661 https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/287861 About Solar Living in the Emerson Brook Forest: Once the last of our three children moved away, we decided to share our spacious solar powered homestead with others. Oriented for southern exposure, our "off grid" battery-based solar electric homestead had its beginnings in 1981. In addition to being AirBnB hosts, we are proprietors of Green Energy Options Solar Store in Keene, a local resource for energy conservation education, independent power systems and energy efficient appliances and heating. Our home, located 12 miles from the vibrant city of Keene, is a bit of a showcase for our business and philosophy. We have three rooms with queen-sized beds, and one room with a twin sized bed for guests to choose from upon arrival at the house. All of the rooms have special qualities and we continuously get compliments on all of the beds. If by chance the first room listing is filled for a particular calendar day, please look into our other room listings view their availability. On occasion, when needed and possible, we offer our second floor master bedroom with an adjacent living room. This space does not have it’s own bathroom but provides a sense of privacy and accommodates up to four people. Our home has a wheelchair accessible ramp to the main floor bedrooms and bath as well as a separate entrance to our ground level living space, which includes an accessible shower. While our home may not be certified accessible, we welcome inquiries from those who might value our attempt to be inclusive. In addition to our comfy bedrooms, we have a sunroom, an ground-level den with a woodstove, hammock and couch; 2 shared bathrooms (one with a shower the other a bathtub), a living room with piano and couch, as well as south and north facing porches. Two bathrooms offer on-demand heated water for shower or bath. Our open-concept kitchen faces birdfeeders, a fruit orchard and perennial gardens. With some advanced notice and additional fee, we are happy to provide wholesome breakfast and dinner meals made from organic or locally grown ingredients. We also offer the possibility of a wood-fired hot tub during the colder months. Andre, our chocolate lab is just about the sweetest dog we’ve ever met. Being an only child, he received lots of training early on to make him the kind of dog that was more pleasure than work. If he has any flaws, it’s that he’s overly thrilled (for about one minute) to see every new face. We have two cats, Maude and Daenerys who are completely domesticated but exclusively outdoor cats. They help us keep our space mouse free. They eat and sleep in the confines of our back porch where they are safe from their natural predators. Help us keep our promise to cat allergic guests by not intentionally or unintentionally inviting them in. For the well-being of, and out of respect for our resident animals and sometimes poultry, we are unable to host our guest's companion animals.
We live in the beloved Emerson Brook Forest. It’s a refuge from the fast pace world, a place to unwind, and reconnect to the natural world. Our home is adjacent to miles of surrounding woodland trails suitable for hiking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, mountain biking, swimming and exploring. The immediate neighborhood includes The Sustainability Project’s Emerson Brook Forest Nature Center, which features wheelchair accessible trails and edible forest gardens. We are an easy drive to several public recreational areas including Pitcher Mountain (great blueberry picking from July through August) and beautiful Mount Monadnock (reputed to be the second most climbed mountain in the world, after Mount Fuji in Japan.) Mole Hill Theater which hosts live music and theater is a seven-minute drive away. Nearby Keene is home to Keene State College (and the Redfern Art Center and Thorne Sagendorf Art Gallery) and Antioch University, the Colonial Theater, several recreation parks and nearly 90 restaurants from which to choose. The Keene Music Festival, hosting more than 90 bands of all persuasions, takes place annually on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.
  • Valerie and Pablo are two lovely people with a lovely home. I greatly appreciated their company and conversation (not to mention, the company of their two dogs). The room I stayed in was tidy and immensely cozy for this nature-loving city dweller. In the morning, they offered a delicious and hearty breakfast, and they even let me play their guitars (the house is not short on musical instruments, for all the musicians out there). The best part of the stay was the warm vibe the home exuded. Valerie and Pablo have a chemistry that's impossible to fake, and the positive vibes (for lack of a more scientific term) were contagious. I would gladly stay there again.

    Dmitriy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb is unique in the best ways. Valerie is so sweet, welcoming, thoughtful, and accommodating. She is truly a super host. The house is adorned with plants, sculptures, and art. Being the first guests there we got to choose our room for our stay, we fell in love with the middle room. It has a large bookcase that was filled with all sorts of literature and a window that looked out into the back yard which gave us a beautiful tree lined view of the sunrise. We greatly enjoyed our morning coffee with the wagging tails of Andre and Willa. We opted to use the hot tub which made for such a relaxing night star gazing in the middle of winter. Such a lovely stay, we will be back!

    Jenn2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The place and the people were beautiful! Very friendly and inviting! If you go in the winter, definitely bring your ice skates!

    Emily2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay with terrific hospitality! Valerie and Pablo were such great hosts! Thank you both for welcoming us into your remote and peaceful green solar home to unplug and relax!

  • Valerie and Pablo were wonderful hosts! We had such a great time!!!

    Libby2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Valerie and Pablo are excellent hosts and were very welcoming from start to finish. Their two dogs are very friendly, the home was great and bed was comfortable. If I’m in that area again, I’ll be sure to see if they have a room available. I highly recommend staying here.

    Harrison2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem! Valerie & Pablo are wonderful hosts - warm, welcoming energy and very locally engaged. The location is perfect if you're wanting to hike and be in nature (we hiked Bacon's Ledge, amazing summit!) Bed was very comfortable; we slept well, nice quiet house. We would highly recommend staying here.

    Danielle2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We decided for a quick getaway from Cambridge looking for be in contact with nature and get away from the city. Valerie and Pablo´s place was perfect for that. The house is very cozy, sparkling clean and Valerie and Pablo are amazing hosts. The room had beautiful details, the bed was very comfortable, so we had a good night's sleep before going skiing the next day. We had a very pleasant talk while they cooked us an exquisite breakfast and coffee prepared with freshly ground beans by Pablo the next morning. Oh! and they have 2 beautiful friendly dogs: Andre and Willa. We couldn´t try the hot tub under the moonlight because we stayed only one night but we will return to have that experience. We totally recommend this place!

Cozy, light filled guest bedroom with a memory foam bed. Our guests agree: this bed is super comfy! Spacious shared bathroom. This modest, clean and warm home is on a large lot in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to parks and trails. We're less than 5 minutes from major shopping plazas and Antioch University; about 7 minutes to downtown and Keene State College.
Our guest room is quiet and clean, with hardwood floors and views of green spaces from both windows. Nice sunset views and ample closet space for storage. Blackout drapes provide a restful environment. Please note that if you are especially tall, this may not be the bed for you! It is a double (full) size bed with headboard and footboard.
We're in a suburban neighborhood; vehicle traffic on our street is pretty minimal. Our lot sits between a wooded park and school athletic fields; on weekdays, expect to see morning and afternoon school foot traffic, and sports practices in the afternoons during fall and spring. Weekends and evenings are typically very quiet.
  • Jim and Raven are great hosts. I am a frequent guest. The space is always clean, welcoming, and quiet which is what I’ve needed after working a long day.

1850’s farmhouse separated into two units. The rest of the house is owner occupied; this apartment is setup to be rented out. The bedroom has a queen bed, a couch and a smart TV with cable. Simple kitchen with a Keurig and a high-top table with two stools which is great for breakfast. 5 minute walk to Main Street, 10-15 minutes to Keene State College.
Less than 10 minutes walk to Central Square, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, pizza, and Elm City Brewery 15 minute walk to Keene State
  • Warm cozy bed. Wonderful pan to make scrambled eggs in. Full size fridge❤️Good pressure in the shower.

  • I stayed with Michael for a month. The bedroom has a very comfortable bed, a tv, and a small couch. There is a full kitchen with everything you need for meal preparation. Michael was very respectful of my privacy, and responded to my messages very quickly. It doesn’t take more than 10 minutes to walk to Central Square and down Main Street where there are great restaurants, cute cafes, and specialty stores. I enjoyed my stay with him and would definitely stay with him again.

    Liane2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Everything here is exactly as advertised. Space was VERY clean and well appointed. Absolutely perfect size for a quick stay of up to 2 people. I would not stay here with any sort of larger group. Check in was easy and the place had everything I needed for a two night stay. Just a few blocks away from restaurants, shopping etc.

    Paul2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's apartment is great for a weekend or short stay: walking distance to town, modest-sized kitchen and super clean. We had a problem with the heat and Michael responded to our text in less than 5 minutes and immediately resolved the issue. Only caveat is that there are steep stairs leading up to the apartment, so if mobility is an issue for your or someone in your party, this would not be a good choice. But otherwise, this is a superb value.

    Joanne2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place is cozy, cute, and was a great choice for my one night stay in Keene. The radiator does get very loud sometimes, but with my white noise machine I brought, my boyfriend and I were able to sleep just fine. The apartment had everything we needed to have a very comfortable stay. Overall, I would definitely recommended this place!

    Beth2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, great location...exceptional host!

    Bryan2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, quiet, comfortable and charming. I do a lot of cooking and the kitchen had everything I needed, including a good set of knives! Great place to stay in Keene.

✓ Two Beds: One Queen and One Futon. ✓ Bedroom has Adjoining Sitting Room. ✓ Wifi and Smart TV with Local Channels. ✓ Complimentary Water, Tea and Coffee. ✓ Bathroom Includes Shampoo and Soap ✓ Two Block walk to Downtown Keene You will be staying in one of the oldest homes in Keene. The Aaron Seaman House was built in 1804 and maintains much of it's antique Colonial Charm. We welcome travelers from all walks of life and consider hosting a privilege.
Your rooms include a bedroom with a queen bed with 100% cotton linens and an adjoining sitting room with a futon that can be used as a double bed. There is a door in between the rooms so if one person wants to sleep, while the other stays up to read or watch some TV, this gives added privacy. Your rooms also include a ✓ mini-fridge and ✓ coffee / tea set up ✓ and bottled water. Your bathroom has shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided in the 42" x 36" stand-up shower. Please note the decorative shower door has an opening of 18" wide. We only use 100% cotton towels / wash clothes. The Aaron Seaman House is over 200 years old and retains many of its antique charms such as wide wooden board floors, stained glass over the entryway, and classic crown molding around the downstairs doorways. Being over 200 years old, it also has the typical quirks of a house this age. The walls are original plaster / horse hair and the floors have settled throughout the years. Back in the day, homes were made for much shorter people, so for our taller guests, keep that in mind as you enter the rooms! In addition to your private rooms and bathroom, there is also a sitting area at the top of the hall, beside your bedroom. It’s another area that you are welcome to use.
Keene is a quaint New England town with an "up and coming" foodie and art scene. You will be two blocks from downtown Keene / Head of the Square with easy walk to Keene's many local shops, cafes, restaurants as well as Keene State College. Enjoy the free walking tour of the Wall Dog Historical Murals scattered around the downtown. There are also walking bicycle trails nearby too. We are an easy drive to many lakes, hiking and ski areas, including the famous Mt. Monadnock. Spofford Lake, Surry Dam, Island Pond and Warren Lake are some local favorite swimming and kayaking spots. 15 minutes North is beautiful Walpole, NH with Burdick's Chocolate Shop and European Restaurant, as well as the stunning Walpole Mountain View Winery. A 20 – 25 minute drive West will take you to Brattleboro VT, a funky, fun classic VT spot. The Marina Restaurant and Whetstone Brewery's rooftop Beer Garden both overlook the Connecticut River. We love visiting the Grafton Cheese shop and Saxton River Distillery in Brattleboro. Many ski areas are in easy driving distance: Granite Gorge, Crotched Mountain, Mt. Sunapee, Mt. Snow, Pat’s Peak and more!
  • This place is a true Gem. My wife and I were fortunate as a cancellation opened up the rental during exactly the time we needed. Bonnie is a very thoughtful host, and the rooms are very comfortable and welcoming. A very special experience for us! Would highly recommend.

    Veronica2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Bonnie and Abe are sweethearts! Their space is sparkling clean and has thoughtful touches everywhere! She went the extra mile; buying some chocolate covered strawberries for my wife's birthday which coincided with our stay! They were available but always gave us space and privacy. Matter of fact it was as though the space was in another house altogether. The space is thoughtfully furnished! Bed is incredibly comfortable. Area has a small but tasteful living room with pull out couch and tv and such. Bathroom is spotless and furnished with everything a guest would need. The house is easy to find and a walking/short driving distance from restaurants and entertainment. If ever in Keene again, I know where I'll stay. My wife and I both loved it!

    Tim2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful clean space. Hosts go the extra mile to ensure needs are met and are very communicative. Check in was easy and the house is in a great location, could not have asked for more.

  • Bonnie warmly welcomed us. The place was perfect. Quiet and clean. Just a few blocks from the Main Street.

    Thea2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This AirBNB was amazing! The decor was lovely with authentic charm and complimenting colors. It was very clean and well maintained. There communication before and during our stay was exceptional. The extra amenities such as bottled water, Keurig coffee/tea, mini fridge and bathroom toiletries were thoughtfully provided. They even provided bathrobes, cloth slippers and eye masks, for lounging or relaxing. The electric mini fireplace provided a cozy New England feel to the room. We especially enjoyed the separate/adjoining sitting area. We look forward to staying again!

Old farmhouse built in 1800s on 200 acre old dairy farm (non working). Most of the house recently updated. On conservation land/working Christmas tree farm. Mt Snow 36miles /Stratton 45miles. place has been in my family since the 1940s/ on old dirt road/ private/secluded getaway close to town(s)/minutes from RT 91
A rural setting, but close to two thriving communities (Brattleboro VT & Keene, NH). Family owned for 70 years. Beautiful place to spend some time.
  • We had a wonderful stay at Dan's unique farm house. The house is sat in several acres of land and although we were there in early march as the snow was melting it was still very picturesque. The house is accessed by about a mile of unpaved road that had some muddy spots (in early march so probably about as bad as it gets with snow melt) but we were fine in a heavy 2wd mini van. The house itself has been modernised in some areas but has retained some many of the original features. The house had everything needed for a comfortable stay and Dans communication was great. We will definitely stay again if we're in the area !

    Anthony2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Dan’s farmhouse was the perfect romantic winter getaway. It offered everything you could expect from the cozy and warm setting of a family farmhouse to a fire going in the wood stove to the sprawling hills and pine trees of the property. It had the perfect home away from home feel. Meeting Dan and seeing his love for this place added the finishing touches along with the dozens of beautiful photos showing all the years and generations of love and family throughout the home. An essential and classic New England experience to the fullest. Can’t wait to go back!

  • Super host. Very nice, even going out of her way to let me know about what was happening in town and beyond, such as a historical wall mural project. She welcomed me in a caring way to use her kitchen and dining room. Her dog Jazzy is lovely. Taryn always had the lights on when I came home late. I can't say enough about her great hosting skills. We also had great conversations, and I just felt like I was at my home away from home.

  • I really enjoyed my stay here. Loved the vibrant colors of the decor and the friendliness of the host and her daughter. They were very accommodating.

  • Michele is easy to communicate with and is eager to make you feel comfortable in her home.

    Jen2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Michele was friendly and accommodating of my late arrival. I had forgotten to bring my own towel, so she helpfully let me use one of hers. The construction of the house was indeed paused while I was there, but guests should know that the full bathroom on the floor with the bedroom had no door.

    Rachel2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • During my stay in Michele's sweet home I felt warm, comfortable and welcome. It was a pleasure to meet Michele and her daughter and their lovely brood of dogs and cats! Such beautiful energy in this house hold. Thanks again for welcoming me!

    Jessica2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Michele was a lovely host. Very kind and friendly, the house was absolutely darling. It was nice to leave and come back to a greeting by one of the cats, and the pups were very sweet and laid back too. The futon was comfortable! I mostly spent my time here sleeping, but I felt very relaxed and welcomed during my stay. Would highly recommend to a young traveling female. Michele’s abode is just steps from downtown Keene, and she was so very helpful in making suggestions for things to do locally. Thank you again Michele!

    Paije2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint and cozy New Englander, complete with friendly cats and dogs that greet you at the door. The second-floor room is just right for one person, with ample lighting, shelves, and a place to hang some things. I recommend bringing your favorite pillow to go with the futon experience : ) Lovely bathroom and sitting area just outside your room. Front porch catches the early morning sun and overlooks the gardens - a perfect way to start your day. Host is very pleasant and helpful. Location is ideal for walking to downtown or the college campus. A great value.

    Maria2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Michele’s place is adorable and very well located. It’s walking distance to Main Street in Keene where you’ll find pretty much everything you need! Parking and check in were easy, and Michele was very responsive! I’d definitely stay with her again for a weekend in Keene!

  • Located right in the middle of town, just off the square, this little apt could not be more convenient. Let’s see: clean, neat, crisp, easily accessible, parking, great directions. Perhaps the stairs are a tiny bit steep. But honestly, I would stay again any time. Patti is right there to answer should you need anything. And pet friendly. That’s a huge plus ❤️

  • Fred and Richele are great hosts! This place has a great bang for the buck and who doesn't love waking up to the view of the beautiful mountains. We have stayed in the yurt they offer, which is awesome, very unique! This time I rented a simple campsite on the property. It's rustic but it works and the price is right. Very pretty scenery too! It's close to Keene State College which worked out great as I was in town to visit my son who is a student there. This is not a campground, but a cool small skiing and tubing hill for the locals! So go on up, pitch a tent, and do some snow tubing or share a beer with the friendly hosts. FYI, there is only an outdoor shower. This was the only drawback as the temps are already dropping here in October. Not a deal-breaker, just something to be aware of.

    Chris And Ryan2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a camping spot on a very flat and well-mowed spot of a small local skiing and tubing hill. There is a small camping ring (bring your own wood), a picnic table at the spot, and you can use the guest bathroom in the ski lodge as well as the outdoor shower complete with hot water. This is no frills, but it is a gated, safe space in a beautiful location within a few minutes drive of Otter Creek State Park (and a beach), and very close to Keene, NH. The bathroom is clean, the shower is private, and it was perfect for us. We actually slept on a futon mattress in our Honda van, and we got an excellent night's sleep in this peaceful location. Route 9 runs by the ski lodge, but there are trees buffering the traffic, so it doesn't feel like you are exposed to the road traffic at all. It was white noise at night, and we didn't notice any big rigs or loud traffic noise. Richele is responsive and gave us very clear instructions on accessing the area and there were clear signs pointing us to our spot. It was beautiful at night. The stars were a sky dome and the crickets made nice night music. Great spot if you know the weather is going to hold!

    Tracy2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Easy to follow directions to get to the camp site and the host was very helpful. We got a bit frazzled after arriving in the dark on bicycle due to some bad luck and a couple of flat tires in a row..and when we contacted them on the phone they guided us through getting into the gate w/ no issues. It was also really great to camp at a place with a real common area for bathrooms/showering after having spent the previous night at a more rustic site. Good for stargazing. A nitpick would be that the road it's next to is pretty busy. But, we knew that when we decided to camp there...so, it wasn't exactly unexpected. Great location only ~5 miles from the center of Keene.

    Ali2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great campsite...lots of room. In a nice grassy field...very open. Mostly quiet but could hear some road traffic. Bathroom clean and outdoor shower nice. Would recommend for camping.

Upstairs bedroom with queen size bed in artisan built home on ten acres. Enjoy the view over wetland, streams, gardens and wildlife just a half mile from the quaint parish village of Westminster West. Between Putney and historic Saxtons River.
The bedroom offers closets, drawers and shelves as well as a window seat overlooking the gardens and wetland. Hardwood floor, handmade tables and lamps, and personally designed mirrors accent the room.
The village of Westminster West is a return to a simpler way of living. The nearest stores are in the neighboring towns of Putney or Saxtons River. Area folks love to bicycle or walk the rolling roads that wind through the forested landscape as well as area farms. From my house, guests can walk the three mile "loop" that winds around and through the village area. Close to The Putney School, Landmark College, Greenwood School, and Vermont Academy.
  • Great architecture and unique craftsmanship is peaceful Vermont woods. A must stay.

  • Gail's house is beautiful! She built it herself and each aspect, from walls to furniture, is artistic and thoughtful. We had a cozy stay. The place was very clean and Gail was great with communication. I'd stay with her again!

    Yucheng2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first stay using Airbnb it it was very enjoyable. Gail was very accommodating and there were little, thoughtful touches in her home that made it unique. She also offered a wealth of suggestions as to where to go and what to do. I would recommend her to anybody who asked.

  • Gayle has a very unique and beautiful space. We enjoyed the lovely warm atmosphere of her house and the tales of how it was built. A must see Air B&B! Close to many great hikes and lovely setting.

  • A real artist living an intentional life. To sit and talk with Gail will give you inspiration to go and live your life to the fullest.

    Nicole2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Gail’s house is unique with its charm. She made it herself over 20 years. I was completely impressed. The room was better than I expected. It was cozy and had light. One of the windows overlooked a pond and the other window overlooked her garden in the woods. The bathroom bath/shower was beautiful. I wish I had a shower like that. The water pressure was good. Gail let me use her kitchen and when I was running late she cleaned up after me. Our conversations were interesting and fun. I always love getting to know the people who run Airbnb‘s. Five stars for her kindness and hospitality.

    Theodora2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Gail's home is a gorgeous, comfortable, quiet, beautiful retreat into the woods. The location is ideal and her property is breathtaking. The natural surroundings are inspiring and incredible. Gail was a perfect host and she is a fantastic human being. She showed me all around, answered all of my questions, and gave me great suggestions for local flavor. She was a delight to converse with and share stories with and I came away from the weekend all-the-better. Don't think twice about booking!

    Douglas2019-08-18T00:00:00Z

A ton of room in the yurt There is a nice stream out in the backyard. Also, the beach was a 5-minute drive and was a nice peaceful experience. The outdoor shower was a very cool experience. My dog could roam off-leash all these beautiful hills. What made the stay so great was the host Rochelle. We had pretty serious car trouble and she was so gracious to us - she went above and beyond what any host would ever do to help us. I recommend and will return.

My husband and I have farmland in Hancock, New Hampshire. We have a private cottage that is located next to the main house. We have 32 Acres of Land for hiking, exploring and cross country skiing for our guests. We offer free canoe rentals in the summer, with free drop off and pick up at local waterways. There are plenty of local shops and restaurants in the Monadnock region.
One master bedroom with a queen size bed. The bunk room (no private door- it's a walk through to the master bedroom) has one fold away twin bed. There is also a very comfortable love-seat that a child could sleep on, as well. One bath, beautiful sunroom, eat in kitchen and living room. There is baseboard heat in all rooms, that is thermostat controlled. There is a washer and dryer in the bathroom. Which is free to use, for our guests. We're best suited for one couple or a small family. Just a reminder- we do not have WiFi
It's a quiet town. Norway Pond is right down the road from our cottage in Hancock. The Hancock Market has all the necessities you may need while you stay here. The town of Hancock has a warm feeling of a small town community. Stop at Fiddleheads Cafe for lunch. They make a wonderful pizza! If you want to take a walk through the town. There is a little goat cheese factory right on Main Street. Best of all, we're only 6.4 miles from the Crotched Mountain ski area in Bennington. The next town over, Peterborough, has plenty of shops and restaurants to visit too. Plus, you're about 45 minutes from concord and about 25 from Keene. The Merrimack outlets are about an hour away.
  • Humble Hospitality & just the right amount of quiet for the extended weekend trip with the counterpart. I will definitely be coming back here since I’m a heavy believer in staying at places that are period correct. Blueberry muffins were the perfect addition to an early morning before checking out the local mtns and trails. 🙏🏻

  • Couldn't have had a better escape from Boston for the weekend. Ashley was a very responsive and generous host, and her cabin was clean, quiet, and spacious. Ashley greeted us upon arrival with the most delicious homemade pumpkin muffins and gave us amazing local suggestions. The town is quaint, charming, and quiet. Ashley's cabin is the perfect place to disconnect, read that book you've been meaning to for the past couple months, and get a great night's rest. We will definitely be returning!

I highly recommend if you do not want the hustle and bustle of Keene. We were fortunate to book since we waited last minute during a wedding weekend. Blessed to have found this place and look forward to staying again. Many thanks to the hosts who were so welcoming and wonderful. A happy gal from Virginia, Nona

  • So grateful to Hans and Marcy for their friendliness and hospitality! The apartment is in a great spot for exploring the area.

  • We stayed in this apartment for a month and a half. The location in Harrisville was perfect for us. Having access to the clean and beautiful Silver Lake right down the hill was perfect. Harrisville is one of the most beautiful tiny brick/mill towns on a lake that is still untouched by time. The General Store overlooks a picture perfect setting. I guarantee you will be taking pictures. If you like to run or walk, there's dirt roads around the lakes, or to remote ponds and old historic farm houses. Very little traffic in this area. A fifty mile hiking trail is down the road. Bring your fishing pole too. Farm stands will supply you with fresh local produce and pies. The apartment is sweet. It has everything you need. The kitchen that is shared with the owners is a big homey farm kitchen. Hans and Marcy are very friendly too. Their yard is huge with a tree house, hammocks, chair swings and plenty of cool stuff for children including a huge stage for plays. My grandchildren loved coming here. There's also blueberries, raspberries, huckleberries, blackberries and peaches. We really had a great time and highly recommend this Airbnb.

  • Our stay at Linda's place was amazing. Linda was very friendly and responsive to our messages. The place was quiet and perfectly equipped for our three-day stay. I would definitely stay again next time I visit the area.

  • A true gem of a place! Linda and Peder were incredible hosts with fantastic tips about local events and they gave us such a warm welcome to their beautiful and spacious home which had every amenity. We would absolutely recommend their place to anyone looking to get away and enjoy NH and the surrounding areas. We skied Pats Peek (about 25-30 min away-a beautiful and easy drive!) both days we were there and it was awesome! Thank you so much for such a wonderful weekend!!

  • Linda's place is perfect for families as there is a lot of room and is very comfortable. It is conveniently located near many fine lakes and in the heart of historic Washington, New Hampshire. There is a wonderful local art gallery and Washington is the home of Gibson Pewter. I highly recommend this lovely place.

You would have the entire second floor, up a fairly steep stairway, which has two bedrooms (a queen and a full size) and a private bathroom. Our house is in rural New Hampshire surrounded by pastureland and gardens but is only 10 minutes from Keene. There are plenty of outdoor recreation possibilities. There are miles of trails adjacent to our property for walking or running, biking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. Many major ski areas are less than an hour away.
It is a quiet and picturesque setting. We have 2 mountain bikes available for use as well as cross country skis, skates and snowshoes for winter time. A rail path runs near the house with miles of trails. We provide a light breakfast of toast or english muffins with homemade jams and tea or coffee
We live on a dirt road with rail trails adjacent to our house. We have many gardens, fruit trees and a large veggie garden. It is quiet and rural yet easy access to Brattleboro or Keene.
  • Jan and Dan were excellent hosts! They were very accommodating and understanding of our trip plans etc. They were happy to y’all with us and be pleasant, but also happy to leave us to ourselves when necessary. Overall, I would highly recommend staying with them. PS their cat Gary is a cuddler!

Welcome to 13 Hills! Set in the picturesque Monadnock region, our earth-sheltered home offers magnificent views, serenity, and comfort, With an open concept living/kitchen/dining/media area with a stone fireplace, an 1100 square foot terrace with firepit and year-round hot tub, this is not your usual B&B. Your room has a king-size memory foam bed, bureau, 42 inch TV, DVD & internet services, a full bath with tiled shower, and panoramic vistas. Full breakfasts of your choosing are our specialty!
Our 1800 square-foot home is earth-bermed, making it naturally warm in the winter and cooler in the summer. We have solar electric with battery back-up, so we always have electricity even if the grid is down for an extended time (and a gas generator as a back-up to that!). The house features a great room with a dining area, stone fireplace, living room, kitchen and media area. Your bedroom features a king-sized memory foam mattress, chair, bureau, night stands, lamps, clock radio, luggage stands, a 42 inch TV with Netflix, Amazon and Hulu, and a Blu Ray DVD. Open the curtains and you'll be treated to our wonderful view of Beryl Mt. and the hills beyond. A crib (and baby monitor) is available in the room across the hall, which is why the listing shows 1 bedroom but 2 beds. The full bathroom has a newly-tiled shower and blue-tooth speaker. Robes and slippers are in your closet for use to/from the hot tub, where swim suits are optional. Smoking is permitted in the enclosed porch and outside. Complimentary coffee and tea service is in your room for your convenience. The 1100 square foot terrace features a fire pit for nighttime enjoyment, chairs, picnic table, and 2 grills, one of which is vegetarian-only. Our treadmill, also with a 42" TV and streaming services, is available for use in the year-round greenhouse, next to your room. Our rescue dog, Hannah, is a mixed breed who loves attention, so if you don't like dogs, we're not the right place for you. To see the most recent video of our house search "Byll & Cheryl's Earth-Sheltered Home Update 2016" on YouTube. This search will also pull up all of the other construction videos and previous updates. For an aerial look at the house, search for "13 Hills - A Unique Earth-Sheltered Destination". We also have a pool room in our upper garage, which is available to guests. We host Tuesday night pool sessions for our friends, and you are welcome to join us. A dart board and darts are also in the pool room. Our house is surrounded by hills, so we have great sledding, cross country skiing and snow shoeing in the winter. Our main highway is a favorite of bicyclists, offering a 22 mile loop of primarily flat terrain paralleling the Cold River. Beryl Mountain offers good hiking and a variety of stones and crystals. Pitcher Mountain is just 20 minutes away and affords the closest panoramic views of the entire region. Mt. Monadnock, one of the most-climbed mountains in the world, is about an hour away. The major towns in the area - Keene, Claremont and Springfield, VT - are all about 25-30 minutes away. 13 Hills is registered with the State of New Hampshire as a Bed and Breakfast and our license number is 062015. We were recently awarded the highest customer satisfaction award by Booking.com. Visit our Facebook page - 13HillsBnB.
South Acworth is a quiet, off-the-beaten-track village that boasts a community-run country store that dates to 1865. Many local craftspeople and artisans have their wares available for purchase there, and the store stocks all the necessities and last-minute items. The Cold River runs through the town, and is bordered by hills on both sides, so we are often treated to fog views in the valley below us. Rt. 123A, which parallels the river for 11 miles, has been recently paved, making it a great bicycle route as it's fairly flat with just enough hills to make it interesting. Our community church features a recently renovated steeple and the town library, founded in 1891, houses an extensive stuffed bird collection. Beryl Mountain, of which we have a magnificent view, is the source of the beryls used in making the first atomic bomb and is a favorite with rock hounds. There is easy access in town to the vast NH snowmobile trail system, and we have great hills for sledding and cross-country skiing. There are 4 downhill skiing areas and 2 touring areas within an hour's drive, the closest being Mt. Sunapee, about 35 minutes away. Our own hills are perfect for easy sledding, snow-shoeing or cross country skiing. The nearest town of any size is Walpole, home of Ken Burns of PBS fame and a very good restaurant - The Restaurant at Burdick's. Keene, Claremont and Springfield are all about 25-30 minutes away and offer a wider array of shopping, dining and movies.
  • Hannah and Byll greeted us when we drove up and both of them were sweet all throughout our stay. The personalized parking spot was a nice touch. The bed is on the softer side. The view from the bedroom is spectacular and the personal bathroom is spacious and well-appointed. The room had everything we could think of needing closet, dresser, nightstands, alarm clocks, USB docking station, TV with Netflix and other options, local info, etc. We enjoyed our time in the hot tub and it was great to have use of house slippers, robes, and a flashlight! Byll's breakfasts were delicious and filling, and the use of home-grown ingredients was a treat! We highly recommend staying here!

  • You will definitely enjoy your stay with Byll and Cheryl and Hannah! Byll and Cheryl are very good at communicating every step of the way! They and their home are very welcoming and accommodating! Byll and Cheryl clearly let us know all the details we needed to know about our stay and were available to answer the few questions we had. The view from their home is beautiful as are the grounds! Byll’s breakfasts are scrumptious and his coffees taste delicious!! Hannah is a sweetheart! You will love her too! Hurry and make your reservation and enjoy your stay!!

  • Byll and Cheryl welcomed us into their unique home with a great view. The breakfasts were great, Hannah the dog was adorable, and taking a dip in a hot tub under the stars when it is 5 degrees outside was also really nice. Would recommend for folks looking for a weekend away!

  • This was the perfect place to stay for a relaxing weekend away. The house and property are beautiful, and they put so much thought into everything. The breakfasts were delicious. We loved that the food was grown by the hosts or came from local friends. They were kind and friendly. There was even a binder with important information about the place, local attractions and maps, and details on how to use the tv, WiFi, and hot tub. They were very accommodating for anything we needed and made us feel welcome. Hannah was an adorable addition to the stay, too.

    Amber2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to see a constant view and get the peace the city doesn’t offer. Great people, great views, it was a home away from home. You will enjoy your time in the hot tub, watching tv, exploring the views around. It is a great place to escape reality for a bit :)

    Rachel2019-12-02T00:00:00Z

Spacious light filled room with own bathroom and entrance, in back of house occupied by mother and son, along with black lab. House is around the corner from the Monadnock Waldorf School, a short walk to Robin Hood Park and 5-10 minute walk into Keene Centre. Keene State College is a short drive or 15-25 minute walk.
Space is a renovated garage with plenty of natural light and bamboo flooring. It is attached to the back of the house. Door to rest of house has sliding locks on each side for privacy. The sofa bed is new and has an added layer of memory foam for comfort.
15-20 minute walk downtown. The Colonial Theatre is home to great movies and first rate live shows. Keene State College also offers an abundance of cultural opportunities. The Monadnock Food Co-op is a ten minute walk, offering local products and plenty of organic choices. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and have a fabulous juice bar.
  • The place was perfect. Just as described. Close to downtown Keene. Went snowboarding at Killington and had a nice place to stay the night!

  • The host, Lindsay, is so kind and really helped us about to discover whats around. This place is cute, quite and comfortable.

    Ayse2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lindsay was an incredible host, quick to communicate about logistics and provides a very pleasant and quaint room.

    Daniel2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The space was exactly as described. I appreciated the privacy/private entrance, comfy bed and all of the extra amenities – a mini-frig, microwave, coffee-maker and, most especially, the fresh fruit, coffee and milk. The only minor issue I had (which has more to do with my being an extremely light sleeper than the accommodations) was the wall next to the bed apparently abuts either an entrance way or a room in the main house and several times I could hear peoples' conversations and doors being opened and closed.

    debbi2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lindsay's place was absolutely perfect for our family. So clean, warm ( and it was COLD out!) cozy and comfortable. Communication was easy, clear and timely. She greeted us with an easy warm welcome. We felt so at home. After a day of travel and out door exploration we were ready to snuggle in and watch tv. Perfectly relaxing with a nice cup of tea and toast. She even left out chocolates for us. The coffee looked inviting as well, smelling so good! I would highly recommend a stay in Lindsay's home. Hope to return sometime!

    Donna2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • It was the perfect place for our little visit to Keene!

    Emily2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Very quaint and cozy place. Everything was as listed. Easy access and great communication. It’s a short walk to downtown, for some great food and shops. Highly recommended! It was very nice to meet Lindsay and chat for few mins.

Off-grid yurt in the woods. Get away from the Coronavirus pandemonium and hide out in the middle of nowhere. A perfect spot for shelter in place quarantine. Keep warm by the wood stove. Hike on the many miles of trails right outside the door. Have a fire in the fire pit. Get back in touch with a simpler life.
The yurt is barebones. Only a futon , 2 shelves, and a woodstove are in it. You will need to provide cooking supplies, bedding, lighting and water. Very pretty glamping bug out location. Feel free to spread out and use the firepit, tent platform, and explore the forests. Be prepared for a camp like experience. There is no running water on site. Bugs, rain, snow, mud, etc. outdoors. Inside the yurt is beautiful.
Secluded, quiet location with miles of trails. Wonderful rivers, mountains, waterfalls, lakes, and forests.

Nestled in the quiet woods just north of Mt. Monadnock our cozy one bedroom apartment invites the outdoors in with peeks of the mountain through the trees. Sit out on your private deck and enjoy the view or stroll around the yard and pick a few blueberries in season. We welcome hikers, nature lovers, those visiting friends or family or just wanting to enjoy the area's beautiful scenery and many artistic venues. I like to think of it as a peaceful sanctuary that we'd like to share with you.
The guest apartment is part of our home but it is completely private and has it's own entry and private deck. So, you don't have to say hello whenever you come and go (unless you'd like to, of course:) If you have questions and either Sterling or I am there you are welcome to just knock on our door ( next door) and if we are gone, I am usually available to receive a text or call. You may just enjoy sitting out on the deck to get your fresh air and view but you are welcome to the yard and to stroll through the garden. We have plenty of parking so park where you finds a good space. We only advertise one bedroom and there is a long couch (not a pullout with a bed) in the living room that is pretty comfortable. I keep extra bedding in the bedroom closet. We also have a handy twin mattress in the entry closet to accommodate a child if needed. You are welcome to these . We also have a guestroom with its own patio down the stairs from the apartment. My family visits occasionally so I don't advertise it but if you need another queen bed you can let me know and, if it is available, you are welcome. (We charge an extra $50 a night for that.) If you like to cook the kitchen has the basics: stove, refrigerator, utensils, a few condiments and spices. Let me know if you need anything you can't see there. The apartment has a coffee station. You can have the option of the Kuerig if you are in a hurry for coffee in the morning (like me) or there is a coffee maker so that you can make yourself a pot. I usually try to have eggs and something baked on hand so you don't have to rush off for breakfast. I hope you can relax and enjoy your stay!
When we first moved here over 30 years ago I wasn't sure I could handle the quiet, town girl that I was. But I love it and, after a busy day, it is such a peaceful place to come back to. My favorite spot in the summertime is on the deck for dinner. The apartment has it's own and I think most guests feel the same way. There are lots of walkers who enjoy this road and cars hauling boats but, even after all these years, it remains a peaceful and quiet spot. Just a mile and a half down the road is Dublin Lake and Stone Pond is about that distance in the other direction. Howe Reservoir is nearby as well. Bring your kayak and watch the sunset from the middle of the lake and enjoy a spectacular view of the mountain. If you are a hiker or even an aspiring one we are not too far from trails up Mt. Monadnock and the Sunapee Trail. In the winter there are lots of cross country or snow shoe trails not far from us. Friendly Farm is a great place for children and it's just a 6 minute drive away. The towns around us have lots of activities too numerous to list but we are centrally located to the best the area has to offer... Peterborough Players, Apple Hill Chamber Music (where you can sit outside and enjoy a picnic while being serenaded,) Art Shows, Museums, Concerts, Great Restaurants and Shopping. I try to keep local information up to date and on your coffee table.
  • Linda’s place was fantastic! Sadly I did not get to personally meet her, but my friend did when she checked us in earlier in the day and said she was a lovely person. The space was very well decorated and very home, sparkling clean, and exactly as advertised. The view is fantastic, and Linda went above and beyond by providing us homemade cookies and bread. I would stay at Linda’s place again in a heartbeat!

    Greg2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Linda’s home was beautiful! It is the perfect location to disconnect and recharge. Linda welcomed us into her home with baked goods, which was such a thoughtful touch. Would definitely recommend!

    Natalie2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was an amazing host. She was thoughtful about each aspect of the stay, and I have never had a more positive Airbnb experience! So many of the reviews are overwhelmingly positive and detailed, so to avoid redundancy, I will just say that if I could give Linda 5 more stars, I would. This place was so special and our weekend experience in NH was enhanced by the quality of our stay. We are definitely hoping to come back, and we will surely recommend her place to anyone looking to rent.

    Simone2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • I am a super host myself but this place far exceeded our expectations. This is another slapped together attic. This is a solidly built and beautifully finished apartment. Beautiful deck and view, fridge stocked for breakfast, and the made from scratch baked goods you see everyone raving about in the reviews. Don’t look any further for a place to stay. This is the place! Friendly host and stunning colors of trees the second week of October. Highly, highly recommend.

    Shirley2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a writer’s dream-space; if you’re looking for peace, quiet and beauty to write or just relax, this is it. A clean, comfortable, and very roomy apartment including a balcony deck with deck chairs and a covered table for coffee and writing while enjoying a spectacular view. I wanted space to spread out a project and had it in spades, with lots of floorspace in the comfortable and nicely decorated living area. Both kitchen and bathroom had a surprising number of amenities and unexpected extras. Nestled into a gorgeous location, it’s near the lake and Monadnock State Park for beautiful fall hikes, drives and walks. Linda offered to let me come earlier than the regular check in (much appreciated) and met me upon my arrival. She had several delicious home-baked treats waiting in the fridge, along with many unexpected basics (eggs, milk, juice, milk, oatmeal). Stirling came over to offer excellent driving directions to several hiking trails and helpful descriptions of each. Would stay here gladly for a longer spell (didn’t really want to leave!)---excellent value for comfortable and pleasing rooms, beautiful/ quiet location, and friendly, attentive hosts.

    Margaret2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful home! The space was large and cozy. It also had an amazing view from the private porch. Linda’s hospitality was above and beyond what we expected. It was exactly what we needed for our trip. Just wish we could have stayed longer.

    Angela2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was an incredible host! She greeted us warmly when we pulled up after dark and again the next evening, when she called for us to join her and her husband at their fire pit after we got in from dinner in Peterborough. It was my wife's birthday weekend, and waiting for us in the fridge on our arrival was a cake! Super host indeed. The place is so nice in so many ways. It is tucked away a short distance down a dirt road from the end of the pavement--with all the peace and quiet you'd expect. The view of Monadnock from the living room and off the deck are fantastic--we loved eating out there, too. It is a quick drive into Dublin and only slightly longer to Peterborough, Marlborough, and Keene. We hiked Monadnock while there, and the trailhead was a three or four minute drive down Linda's road (it's the longest trail to the summit, but hey!) The only thing remotely approaching a negative was a slight sulfur smell to the water. It was not strong, we didn't taste it in the food we cooked (including coffee), and it didn't keep us from lugging a couple of liters of it up Monadnock, but if you're sensitive you should know.

Our home offers easy access to all Southern NH has to offer. Whether hiking nearby Pitcher Mountain, skiing Sunapee, or visiting Keene, we offer a cozy spot close to many outdoor activities and cultural happenings. If you’re hoping to spend most of the time at our homestead, we have a sweet spot by the wood stove for reading, napping, knitting, or whatever your heart desires. On our property, there are a few trails, May Brook, and much more to explore in the 400 acres our property abuts.
All areas in the house are shared, we will interact as much or as little as you determine. We do love meeting new people and spent two years on the road ourselves. We always wanted to become hosts to meet fellow travelers and share the joys of our home with others. We are always available if you are looking for suggestions in regards to restaurants, live music, hikes, swimming holes, and much more. You are welcome to use our kitchen. A few staple items will be provided for you, as well as coffee or tea. We do not have wi-fi or television, maybe a perfect time to disconnect while visiting!
We living in a rural community. Most places are accessed only by car. There is a post office and small general store about 1 mile away. Mole Hill Theater offers live music on occasion and is right down the road. The Orchard Community has wonderful pizza nights throughout the summer, as well as live music and a delicious bakery. They are about 7 miles away.
  • This was my first Airbnb experience. After staying with Eric and Nicole I know I'll be using it more often. Eric was incredibly kind and made sure I had everything I needed. I was only there for a short time, but would love to go back!

    Stanton2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Eric and Nicole have a lovely house on their farm in Gilsum. The kitchen is perfect for guests who like to cook (Nicole made rhubarb scones for us, and offered us fresh eggs from their hens) and the view of the farm from the dining room table and the two porches outside the kitchen can't be beat. The downstairs bedroom was quiet and comfortable and the bathroom was immaculate and fully adequate. There was plenty of room for parking. There are nice roads to bicycle right outside the driveway, or you can go further afield. The Wapack trail is about 45 min. away for small mountain (2,000 ft.) hiking, and there are closer short trails, as well.

    Fred2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed one night with Eric and Nicole. They were great hosts. Their place is cozy and clean. Would recommend to anyone passing through the area!

    David2019-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Eric and Nicole were awesome hosts. They have a lot of interesting things to talk about and made us feel comfortable in their home.

    Sam2019-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • When I booked this place I did not know what to expect and got WAY more out of it then expected. Eric was super kind and welcoming, when we got there he gave us a quick walk through and explained everything clearly. Nicole is a wonderful person, If you happen to enjoy tea as I do make sure you try some of her original tea blends. The BEST you will ever have. If traveling back this way will definitely stay again!

This listing is a SMOKE FREE Environment. This room is small but cozy with a single bed, as well as a mini fridge & coffee maker. We provide coffee, some herbal teas and fresh filtered water. The shared bathroom is just down the hall, with double sinks and a shower. Beautiful downtown Keene is just a ten to fifteen minute walk, with plenty of shopping and eateries. Biking/walking trails are close by as well.
The room and bathroom are in close proximity to each other, both on the second floor.
  • Olga and Norbert have an incredible, cozy, and energetically positive home. It's a very special environment and I was honored to spend a night there and get to know them.

  • Olga and Norbert were very warm and welcoming.

    Alex2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Olga and Norbert are dyed in the wool true hosts. Their home is cozy and comfortable and a great location for a stay in charming Keene.

    Donna2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Olga and Norbert's place is located close to the center of Keene, and convenient to Antioch, where I was teaching for the weekend. The room is clean and welcoming, with a refrigerator and a coffee machine. I didn't mind the steep stairs at all.

    Duncan2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts!

    Sophie2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Olga and Norbert were wonderful hosts. The cozy room is as sweet as it looks, photos are true. The view out of the window is of hills and trees perfect for leaf watching. I stayed for a week during a training at Antioch University. The location is 10 minute walk to the school and 10 minutes into the beautiful Main Street Keen. Shops, art and yummy dining options. It was such a pleasure spending time with Olga and Norbert, they are lovely hosts and makes you feel like you are staying at your home away from home. How sweet simplicity can be.

    Laura2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Olga and Norbert are warm, gracious hosts.

    Allison2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This upstairs space is cozy and well suited for the solo traveler. I only once ever missed snagging the shared bathroom; it was usually readily available. During warmer than usual temperatures, it was a bit stuffy, but the supplied fan helped immensely. Closet space would have been nice, and the stairs are pretty steep and narrow, uncomfortably so for anyone with mobility problems or amply-sized. The hosts are very sweet and genuinely helpful. Parking is free and easy in this quiet residential neighborhood. Several restaurants at different price points are about a fifteen-minute walk away.

Private rustic cabin offers peaceful getaway to pristine Granite Lake. Enjoy sunrise over the lake from the front deck and sunset from the back patio. In between, spend the day on the lake swimming in the private sandy cove, fishing or relaxing. The lake road is three miles around for a pleasant walk or bike trip. The area offers hiking trails and Mt. Monadnock only 45 minutes away. Small villages stores offer amenities while Keene with its many shops and restaurants is only 15 minutes away.
Wifi is available and a TV can be provided for DVD movie watching or streaming but unplugging is the main goal! The cabin has some games and books for your use.
Granite Lake is a friendly relaxed place with a great vibe. Kayak to the island for a picnic or head to area towns for great restaurants, shopping or farmer's markets.
  • This cabin is excellent! Very clean and well appointed - def a throwback to grandma's but will wifi, a grill and a microwave! Super clean and with new bathroom. The lake itself is one of the cleanest I've ever swum in and I loved the three mile walk/run around it. I could not have imaged a better or more perfect get away and Jen was the perfect host. We will be back!

    Laura2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was perfect it was exactly as described very clean and right on a crystal clear lake. Only 20 minutes from Keene made it a quiet but convenient location. Jennifer was extremely friendly and a great host

  • Great spot, very vintage and quaint. Beautiful lake and area! Hope to return!

    Tiffany2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This place was adorable! The house was the perfect size for me and my three friends to take a vacation for the weekend. The view at the lake was beautiful and serene. The house, around 15 minutes away from Keene, was the perfect location to be removed from everything, yet close enough to the town that we could easily go out to dinner or go shopping. Jen was also a wonderful host, who provided restaurant recommendations, directions to hiking trails, and was readily available when we needed. Her dog, Dobby, made frequent visits and we enjoyed his company very much. We will definitely be coming back!

    Emma2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location on a perfect lake. The house has everything needed too, plus very gracious and friendly hosts.

  • Jennifer , thoughtfully left a packed picnic basket, she went above and beyond in accommodating us based on our requests and what we expressed interest in doing, during our stay. Our stay was very peaceful and I would recommend this stay for anyone looking to unplug and relax. Thank you, Becca & Erik

  • Gorgeous old New England home. Sue is extremely hospitable and helpful. Beautiful location, even in winter!

  • Everything was spot on, pleasure meeting nice people.

    John2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Sue’s place was awesome and so homey. Would stay again.

    Jackie2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sue 's home has a home away from home feeling. She has coffee or tea and great fruit to share and keeps a super clean place.

    Stacey And Randy2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sue‘s space was everything I could have hoped for. The shared spaces in the house are warm and inviting and the bedroom was charming. The shared bath was easy to work around. I enjoyed getting to know the others I shared the space with and Sue herself is a delightful hostess. Delightful amenities included a cozy shared TV/reading space with a gas stove, coffee cake and fruit for morning breakfasts, an array of coffees and teas. The stairs were a non issue for me but if you have a lot of “stuff” to carry in you might want to find lodging on a ground floor. Keene itself has so much going on. I can’t wait to return and I will certainly plan my trip around availability at Sue’s place.

    Sharon2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sue was very welcoming and her home made a great base for us. It was all very relaxed and friendly.

    Helen & Phil2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Sue's house is wonderful. It's located an easy drive from downtown Keene in a lovely neighborhood. I enjoyed my drive to and from the house. And the room is cozy and comfy. Sue goes out of her way to make you comfortable. There were always little snacks in the kitchen and other extra amenities. I shared a bathroom, but never ran into the other guests, so it was almost like my own. I highly recommend this place to stay.

  • Dennis is a great person, has got a fantastic personality... it’s a shame the place isn’t closer to Boston. I’ll be in touch from now on...!

Quiet lake experience, especially on weekdays, to get away and reset your busy life! 2 kayaks for your use at no extra charge. Lots to do in the surrounding area, but most people don't want to leave this beautiful setting. (Pets are not permitted)
Highland Lake is a hidden wonder in NH. Our family has been coming here for decades and are still making wonderful memories! This cabin is at the end of a dead end road so you will have privacy! There is a small outdoor deck and a swimming area. You will have your privacy, but we are available if you have questions. Family camp since 1940. Your hosts reside in the main house and your cottage is far enough away for privacy but close enough if you need any assistance. You must have your own car. We have had many years here making wonderful memories. Now you have an opportunity to create your own! This is truly a magical place. Once you experience it, you will want to return each year.

  • Everything was perfect! We had a great days!!!!!

    Daniela2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Cant say enough about this visit to the past - the cottage is just as rustic as promised and we loved it - the fires- the loons - the views. Everyone should experience this little piece of heaven. There is a general store right down the street were you can get all you need if your not too picky. We didn't stop for provisions on the way so we got what we wanted at that local place. If the bar/restaraunt at the marina real close was open it would have been over the top. Chet filled us in on the history of the place he was great . THANKS CHET Tessa and Charlotte - we will try to come back

    Charlotte2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful rustic cabin right on the water. Just be aware that Highland Lake does have a lot of speedboat and personal watercraft traffic. However, this cabin is near Pickeral Cove which is quiet and perfect for kayaks and canoes.

    Christopher2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Are you looking for a charming, rustic cabin RIGHT on the lake? Look no further! This place is wonderful. We spent nearly all weekend on the little lakefront deck. There's a fantastic bathtub and boats, and Chet was a very welcoming host. Do bring a jacket if the nights get chilly--you'll want it for mornings in the uninsulated cabin.

    Nissa2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Unique experience staying in a renovated boat house. Beautiful stop on the lake. Had a lot of fun using the kayaks and hiking.

    Sarah2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described. A unique experience right on the lake.

    Patrick2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome! Kris and Chet are super nice, the cabin is so cool, right on top of the water and the deck is shaded and a perfect place to hang out and watch the boats go by. Even the little paths to get around the place are cool. Easy to get to. I loved the outdoor shower! The lake is really nice, clean and refreshing. Brought everything I needed for the weekend but there's a shaws 25 mins away if you need anything.

    David2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time returning to Chet's cabin if that's any indication on how much we like the place. It's in a beautiful location with immediate access to the lake and while it did get chilly at night time, there are plenty of linens to keep us warm. If you're looking for a getaway devoid of cell signal, Chet's cabin is a great choice.

  • Amazing place. Perfect for a couple or for a family of 3. John was very personable and was an earshot away if needed. He also knew some fun places to go to and the lake was very nice and overall a great stay!

    Michael2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • The location was perfect for us because it was right on the lake and had shallow water to start and gradually got deeper. Our toddler was able to play safely in the water. Perfect place to be on a hot summer’s day.

    Maho2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • John was extremely responsive, and gave me a warm in-person welcome. He was right next door to answer any questions. The place is perfect for someone traveling alone, or a couple. The outside of the cottage is shared. There is a private grill for guests of this cottage to use, and one firepit which is shared with 3 other cottages/houses. The outside deck faces Granite Lake, so you can view sunsets from your very own dining table/outside deck. Granite Lake has super clear water, and is a joy to swim in. Highly recommended!
