This apartment is the perfect getaway, whether you're just passing through, or looking to spend a weekend in western Massachusetts (well worth your money, I should add). My friend and I stayed here for a weekend festival at Mass MoCA, which was a half-hour drive. I really have nothing but good things to say--it has all of the amenities, and more! Clean and inviting, quiet, spacious yet cozy, and very well-decorated. Peter and Paula were gracious hosts, and even provided us with fresh homemade granola (delicious!), milk and orange juice. The land surrounding the apartment is stunning, and Paula encouraged us to explore. Though my partner and I were gone for most of the days, we're looking forward to returning in the fall for a weekend spent on the land and in front of the wood-stove. Well worth it!

I brought my boyfriend to Peter's place for his birthday. It was beyond ideal. We had a beautiful fire every night, we cooked in the darling kitchen that had everything we needed. The place was so cozy, clean and comfy, it totally hit the spot for a weekend getaway from the city. We saw so many stars at night, mass moca was just a short drive away and a truly exceptional experience even for a couple of jaded New Yorkers! Peter was such a lovely host, he responded to any need or question we had promptly, gave us all kinds of info about the area and was just delightful to be around. Our only regret was that we had to go. We both hope to get back as soon as possible. It was perfect.

Peter was easy to reach & great with communication, very responsive throughout. When we arrived we were welcomed with drinks, homemade granola, and an assortment of teas, hot chocolate & coffee, all which we enjoyed during our stay :) The place was clean, cozy, rustic-decor, and very charming. We loved the wood stove and it kept us warm during the cool fall nights. Peter provided a helpful folder with information about the place, nearby towns to visit, etc. which we found very helpful. The location very peaceful with beautiful farms nearby, while being close to highways to get to nearby towns for hiking and sight-seeing. Overall, it made our first stay in the Berkshires a delightful one!

This was our first time trying Airbnb and Peter and his family couldn't have extended a warmer welcome or more perfect stay! The apartment is brand new, with perfectly placed decor and unique furniture and fixtures, such as an old window repurposed as a desk and an old toolchest as a bedside table. The apartment is spacious and bright - on the second floor (above the town's post office!) with slanty ceilings dotted with skylights. Peter and his wife and daughter immediately offered use of their entire backyard, which is beautiful and includes a stone terrace and two fire pits. We joined Peter and his daughter Ashley around their fire in the evening, although there was a second fire pit about a hundred yards away in case we were craving privacy. It was chilly for late May, but the warmth of the fire and the amazing expanse of stars was incredibly worth it. Peter's wife Martha had stocked the kitchen in the apartment with delicious homemade granola and fresh milk, as well as coffee and tea, so we were all set with breakfast in the morning before getting on our way. We had mentioned we wanted to do some hiking in the area so they had set out a book of the best hikes. All around it was an extremely lovely experience and we would love to return!!

I was surprised about what previous reviewers said about the pictures not doing the place justice because I already thought the place looked great from the pictures! Being in the space I can totally agree. The skylights and attention to the subtle decorations and color patterns are so pleasing to the eye. The couch is maybe the most comfortable I ever sat on. It really is a joy and driving through the area is incredibly picturesque. I would love to stay here again.

This is a wonderful property with wonderful hosts! It is great for families or for an intimate getaway. It is well appointed with beautiful decor. The breakfast was delicious and fresh. The homemade apple coffee cake was wonderful. The price was great too. The picturesque views were breathtaking and relaxing. There is plenty of space. It was convenient for our trip to Northampton and the surrounding areas. I would highly recommend it.

I felt so relaxed there, the bed is extremely comfortable, and the surroundings are peaceful and quaint. Exactly 30 minutes from Northampton, and a very pretty drive. Lovely renovated cottage, beautiful surroundings, waterlily-covered pond with kayaks we could use, including lifejackets! Nice beach for swimming nearby. Basic things for cooking (oil, vinegar etc.) all provided. Very quiet, if the place were closer to our home we would come back regularly!

Fantastic is a great way to sum it up. The host was available and generous with their time, answering any question and providing excellent suggestions on where to go and what to do, while never being intrusive. There plenty to do in the area, when you visit be sure to take a recommendation to eat out at a local place, so much good local food. The lake was so quiet and beautiful, it is tough to leave the lawn, screened in porch, or comfortable, clean indoor spaces. We were 4 adult friends who fished, painted, watched spectacular thundershowers, stared at the vast starry night, cooked s'mores on the fire, played games on the porch, danced in the living room, cooked sweet local corn on the grill, kayaked the lake, saw wildlife and were very relaxed. It is a small place, but we never felt on top of each other. The furnishings and supplies are all very comfortable, nothing too precious, with plenty of basics, so there is no running to the store for a can opener, salt, bottle opener.... It was a great place for us and were sad to leave.

Everything about our stay was great, especially the location and the cottage itself - even though we live only 1/2 hour away, my family and I truly felt like we were on vacation.

This cabin is located in a very private location. The view is beautiful. Simple and modern.

Michelle was very accommodating and a wonderful host. very clean and comfortable. The fishing was great and the pond in the front yard was beautiful.

Michelle's cabin is well-equipped, modern, clean and has everything you need for a get-away vacation. Location is quite secluded (wireless and cell reception is not possible here), but the compensating factors are the spectacular pond views, peace, quiet and people not buried in apps, games and work e-mail etc. There is a small swimming area which is nice and some nice hikes are close-by. Fairly close to shopping (general stores) in Williamsburg, and also to Northampton and Amherst.

The Lake Escape is a beautiful home on a very quiet, scenic lake. Steve and Marie have a well-equipped lovely place that you will feel at home at. Steve and Marie were especially helpful throughout the process and welcomed us warmly and provided many tips/advice throughout our stay (i.e. advised us of the weather and things to do in Goshen). Thanks again! Would definitely come back.

The Lake House is a lovely restful getaway. Communication prior to check in was prompt and Steve was available by phone during our stay. Check in was very easy - Steve oriented us to the house. The house was very clean - and just as described in photos on the site. The view of the lake is beautiful. We highly recommend this stay to others, and will return again ourselves.

Steve and Marie are incredible hosts. Very caring and considerate. The cottage is clean, cozy and adorable! The Lake is beautiful. A short drive to the center of Williamsburg we found everything we could possibly need. The next time we are in the area we are hoping that the cottage will available! 5 stars!!

Steve was very accommodating. He waited for us and gave us the tour of the house. The communication was great throughout. The cottage was very clean. The lake is pristine. Steve left us cake, milk, water, and fruits. We will definitely stay here again.

My partner and I stayed here for two nights and absolutely adored it. We left the yurt only to go walk through the expansive woods. The wood stove kept us plenty warm, the breakfast provided was made from scratch and delicious, and lying on the sheepskin rugs listening to barred owls and other creatures was an unexpected luxury. Using the facilities in the main house was easy and comfortable. Our hosts were very welcoming, kind, and understanding when we slept in past breakfast. 10/10 would yurt again.

The yurt was just as pictured and described, very new and clean. Bed was quite comfortable. Although the property isn't on a main road I did here a bit of noise at night, I chalked it up to high school kids messing around on a Friday night, nothing major.

Tatiana & her family are great, she answered all of my questions and offered advice. This is a beautiful space and at night is magical. There are beautiful woods you can walk in and it is a perfect relaxing get away.

I could not have been more content with my stay here. Tatiana and her family were generous and welcoming. The yurt was cozy and clean, and the wood-burning stove kept me warm even through a 10ºF night. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Richard is a gracious and discreet host with a great story to tell. We attended a Double Edge performance not too far from the Three Sisters and Richard was accommodating, though we were there only briefly.

Richard's place is just WONDERFUL! We loved the light, the decor and not to mention the beautiful walks through the Three Sisters Sanctuary he created onsite. The homemade apple pie and fresh fruits and other essentials we found upon check-in were unexpected, but SO greatly appreciated! I cannot recommend this place enough... which is right across the street from the IMA (Institute of Musical Arts), which hosts girls rock camps every Summer! The place was within minutes from cute general stores and restaurants, as well as an amazing bakery with to-die-for pecan brioches! I loved the sound of the varied birds in the bird sanctuary onsite as well. It is located next to the road, but there were rare vehicles that came by which we hardly noticed at all. I loved Richard's studio outside where he creates amazing lamps, renovated historic stoves and other eclectic and beautiful creations. It is a GREAT place to stay and I cannot wait to return!

This is my second visit! This little private retreat has everything you need for a lovely and cozy stay. It is immaculately clean with a little kitchen complete with one of the amazing hand made oven/stove tops Richard is known for. There is a wonderful, comfortable bedroom upstairs and downstairs has a nice sitting area with a 2nd bedroom. What sets this house apart however, is the amazing art work, hand made statues, amazing lamps he has created and paintings that grace the walls. You have to see it to believe it. It's like being in an art gallery. We were welcomed with a bowl of fruit and home made cookies. And the grounds outside are adorned with sculptures gardens, walkways and ritual circles that comprise the well known Three Sisters Sanctuary. A special place indeed.

We had an amazing time at the Three Sisters Sanctuary! Staying two nights was ideal as we were able to explore the area and photograph morning, noon and night, relax in the one of the many different garden areas or lay on the chair like rocks and read. To top it off the amazing dragon fire pit lit up at night was a beautiful masterpiece. The apartment itself was lovely with beautiful art pieces decorating the walls as well as the bedroom. I do wish there was a blind for the skylight in the morning though! I would spend everyday and night here if I could! We definitely plan on coming back.

The Three Sisters Sanctuary was absolutely mind blowing. It was an incredible collection of art and nature combining in positive energy in the very special location of Goshen, Ma. My girlfriend and I left feeling refreshed and better than we could have possibly imagined - it felt like we had been relaxing for a week, when in reality it was less than 48 hours. The local amenities can not be beat - from the D.A.R. State Park, to the church in Ashfield, the food in Northampton, and Mass MOCA, I highly recommend this rental for any age group. You will come back changed for the better.

I truly wish I could leave 6 out of 5 stars here because the 3 Sister's Sanctuary really is a gem. Picture this - we arrive in the dark, after suffering hours in traffic out of Boston, to find this whimsical apartment. Richard, the owner, checks in on us and then brings us outside to see a temporary installation of a giant pumpkin made out of lights. My toddler still asks to go see the giant pumpkin, I have to explain it's only at "the vacation house." Richard was welcoming and informative. The house is situated within this beautiful outdoor art space/garden. I've never seen anything like it. Inside, more beautiful artwork, comfortable beds, extremely clean (as an airbnb host myself, I know how hard it can be to get that clean). There was plenty of space for my husband, myself, and our 3-year old daughter. She loved sleeing in a closet in our bedroom. The surrounding area has a scenic state park with easy hiking, nearby farm stands, 30 min drive to Northampton for delicious restaurants, 15 min drive to Look park. We went falconing (check out New England Falconry in Hadley), to the Eric Carle museum on a rainy day, Ashfield country fair, walked in the park, and ate like kings in Amherst and NoHo. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation in the country - we ate better than in Boston (best diner food I've ever had at Snack Bar), glimpsed the fall foliage, talked with friendly locals, and absorbed the artwork. I can't wait to send friends or my family here to recreate the special time we had here.

Richard was very gracious and helpful. His sanctuary is worth the trip alone. What imagination.. The grounds and suite are beautiful and conveniently located to Amherst/Northampton and worthy destinations further north like Mass Moca. Highly recommended all around.

Richard had coffee and milk waiting in our apartment when we arrived-- he was friendly and flexible. My daughter and I just loved it.

I cannot recommend Joan and her lovely space enough. A gloriously rambling old farmhouse, sprawling landscapes to explore, good conversations. It was like coming home! The only way it could have been better, would have to been to have more time there! We will be back!

I came to the area to see a concert at MASS MoCA in North Adams (an easy, scenic 40 minute drive). I didn't get a chance to meet Joan as she was at work when I arrived and had an early conference the next day. But Eric happened to be home when I arrived--he gave me a warm welcome, showed me where to park (the home is located at the end of a street, with a lot of space/land), showed me around the home and told me a little of its history, then left me to settle in. Joan was very thoughtful and had left a very detailed note of where to find everything/how to make one’s self at home. Bed/pillows were very comfortable and the room really was a “peaceful getaway”. I was in and out pretty quickly, only staying one night and leaving early the next day, so I didn’t have a chance to use the tub/shower, but the shower head looked nice--kind of like one of those a rain heads, if that is important to you. I would love to stay at Joan’s again, hopefully next time for more than just one night. It’s a peaceful, lovely spot filled with kind and warm people.

My stay in Plainfield was wonderfully peaceful. The room was great, the bed comfortable, and Joan was a great host. We didn't see much of one another because of many other commitments on my part, but I couldn't ask for a better place to stay. I highly recommend staying here.

Great calm and cozy place!

Joan's house was beautiful and in a very quiet, gorgeous location. The "dogwood" room worked out perfectly for us, with our teenage daughter in the little annex room. We never actually met Joan because we arrived late and left early, but she was great about communicating with us prior to arrival. We had a great night's sleep and loved being there!

Ingrid was in touch with me several times prior to our arrival. Her house was beautiful and just as described. It was full of charm for adults and adventure for the kids. We had everything we needed from bedding to linens, washer & dryer, and a fully stocked kitchen with the most beautiful dishes and enamel ware in the pantry. It was so fun to browse the bookshelves and play games (Skittles!!) and especially to enjoy the outdoors. Our kids ran around for hours with bug nets, took hikes through the woods, and found some frogs in the pond. At night, we turned off the house lights and gazed at the stars. We would come here again in a heartbeat.

Ingrid's place is beautiful! It was quiet, had tons of space and was surrounded by incredibly scenery. We had a great weekend using the new BBQ, cooking and relaxing in the house. Ingrid was welcoming and helpful and gave us great recommendations for what to do in the area. I hope we get to come back in the future!

Absolutely fantastic stay at Sweet Water Farm! The home is HUGE and there was ample space for all of our guests and then some! We cooked, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery, and we loved it all so much, we didn't even leave the property the entire weekend. The only minor issue was that the WiFi only worked on the first day and not the rest of the weekend. None of us really cared, though, cause we were happy being disconnected. Thank you, Ingrid and family, for welcoming us into your beautiful and historic home!

Such a wonderful farmhouse! We could not have picked a better place for our wedding. The house comfortably slept 24 people. The master suite is absolutely beautiful. It was rainy on the day we had the ceremony, so we had to have it inside and on the covered porch. That wasn't a problem at all, as the house had tons of space for our 45 guests. Ingrid was great to work with, very responsive, and helpful if there was anything we needed. Whether for a romantic getaway or a larger get together, I would definitely recommend Sweetwater farm to anyone.

Absolutely loved the weekend at this house. It's enormous, tons of sleeping space for a big crew. Loved the many different rooms for people to hang out in. We had a great time grilling outside, eating outside on the porch, and playing many yard games in the outside areas. Also really appreciated Ingrid (the host) for the detailed instructions to the house - crucial without cell service and arriving after dark as many of us did.

This beautiful home was more than I ever could have dreamed of! We were married just down the road and stayed here for the week leading up to the wedding and a couple days after. Being able to come back here every night to unwind and refresh was a true gift. It was one of the best elements of our entire wedding: comfortable, spacious, private, impeccably cared for, and beautiful. Ingrid is a wonderful host and made us feel welcome and well-cared for the whole time. The house is enormous; we stayed on one end of the house and were completely secluded from everyone else. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Ingrid's home is lovely. A perfect get away - secluded and green and beautiful. Although it rained one day that we were there, the fireplace that we lit more than made up for the rain outside! The rest of the time was perfect weather and there are lots of trails to explore. Ingrid was great about communication -- she answered all of our concerns - and left us with suggestions for exploring the area. The house is HUGE, so if you are a big family wanting to get away together, but still have lots of room, this is the place for you! Enjoy the beauty!

We had such a great time in this beautiful house. We were a group of 3 families and had plenty of room, inside and out, to relax and explore. The view was amazing. Everything we needed was provided and more. My favorite room was the pantry! We pulled the kids together with a pile of apples and made a crisp in a pretty dish from the pantry together, looking at the fall leaves out the window. Host was friendly, great communicator. The Carpenter house is just beautiful. If you are looking for a quiet and serene getaway, this house is perfect. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the host is very quick to respond with any questions you may have. We just wish we had more time to spend at the house. Plenty of walking paths and a beautiful body of water nearby. This house is perfect for both indoor and outdoor dwellers.

Dan was an excellent host. His pictures do not come close to doing the space justice- there is more space and it is really nice inside. Two great options of enjoying and swimming in the pond a short walk away. Good kitchen with just about everything you need. Perfect for two couples.

This was my first time using using Airbnb and it was amazing! My family and I visited this lake house and it was beautiful and well maintained. The home was very cozy and my family fell in love. The host was super helpful and when I sent him a message he answered fast. I think this is a grate place to go to if you want to have some family time. I highly recommend this place and will visit again in the near future.

We have had a great time staying at David'a place. Evenings by the fire, hikes through the forest and nearby lakes, in close proximity to small cozy towns, - all together good place to enjoy a weekend getaway. Thank you for sharing your place with us!

If you happen to need to be in or around Ashfield, David's place is a great choice. It was still a little cold when we were there, but on a warmer night, he has a nice firepit available and a large attached deck to enjoy the trees and wildlife. The place is larger than the pictures show, but there is only one bedroom. I really don't have a negative thing to add. Very close to town (3 minutes?) and there are several great restaurants others have spoken about.

I am an artist and the place with the high ceiling and decoration fit right in with us. We felt comfortable, and welcomed. We also liked the kitchen decoration and the space in the living room.

What a perfect home away from home. David's place has all the comforts I would hope for in an Airbnb. It was clean, spacious, well curated and well kept. It was surprisingly easy to find in what felt like the depths of the woods and Ashfield offered many treasures like Chapel Falls and a great breakfast spot. Highly recommended.

David was lovely, letting us stay just one night for a quick in and out on what is a very busy time in the 5 college area (we were visiting our daughter at Smith for family weekend). He was very responsive, welcoming and communicative and kept in touch with us the day of our arrival to let us know some last minute changes in the key pick up process (previous guests left with it, so we needed a Plan B). We arrived late at night in the rain, so didn't fully appreciate the beauty of the setting until we woke up the next morning. His recommendation of Elmer's for breakfast was spot on--we highly endorse it. The place has an artsy feel and was very charming. The master bed was very comfortable. There is an inflatable mattress--but my son was comfortable just bunking on the couch. We'd love to come back to explore the area more. Thank you David, for your hospitality and sharing your lovely get away with us!

Spectacular location! We had such a great time going out in the paddle boat and swimming in the pond. The house was extremely homey and welcoming as well -- it felt like staying at a friend's!

We had a wonderful time at the cottage. It is beautifully located right on the water and even comes with a paddleboat that allows you to go right onto the lake. The house is spacious with two big bedrooms, a big living room and huge screened porch that allows you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Kathy was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a relaxing break in nature!

Joan's house is beautiful. It's warm, welcoming, and well stocked. We loved the tulip room: it's cozy, it gets great light, and offers a beautiful view into the woods. We had everything we needed, and Joan was really conscientious about making sure that we did. It was a pleasure to get to know Joan, and when our car got stuck in the snow she even drove us to retrieve it - beware in the snowy months, Joan's house is at the end of some windy roads - four wheel drive helps! But it was a great place to be snowed in, and we liked the fireplace and amazing tea collection. Thanks!

Gorgeous property in a quintessentially New England rural area. Joan and Erik were extremely kind. I loved the peace and quiet, and the down comforter with a flannel cover!

Joan was fantastic - I was able to book within 24 hours of arriving. I let her know what I planned to do -- Tanglewood, Clark, etc. -- and she let me know how far it was -- that it was a 45 minute drive. She also gave very detailed instructions, but I'm happy to note her place is on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps. I was able to arrive without any problems, even just before midnight. She had everything all ready. She is very warm, and I was happy to chat with her the next morning. It is a good base from which to visit places I was interested in. I was glad to have gotten the booking. I felt very comfortable. Additionally, I mentioned that I was allergic to cats, and she made sure to accommodate that request. She is very thoughtful and communicative, which is so much appreciated, given the short timing between booking and arrival!

House was well equipped and filled with eclectic of art and media befitting such a funky cool host. Cat Kira runs the show. Old house with lots of interesting nooks and crannies to review.

I felt just as welcome this time as I did two years ago. My regret is that we couldn't have spent more time there. In fact this time we were only there for eight hours, a pity because the house is beautiful, homey, and clean.

I had a wonderful stay at Mariam's lodge. It's a very unique space with eclectic and bohemian decor, and the property itself is beautiful too. It was perfect for me, and I'd gladly stay there again!

The Singing Bridge Lodge is an amazing historical building with lots of expressive energy, exotic decor, ample seating room, and musical instruments. Mariam and Bob were easy to communicate with, and our private room was warm, cozy, and full of interesting books. If you're looking for somewhere unique and quirky to stay, without giving up comfort, the Singing Bridge is a great pick. The location is a bit remote, so save money and take advantage of the large kitchen and bring some food of your own!

Great place! We had it all to ourselves; it was comfy, quiet, and felt like staying at a long lost friends place. Mariam was very accommodating with our uncertain arrival time and made it work easily for us to get in and settled. The rooms, grounds, and common spaces are gorgeous and all point to a loving and caring owner.

A nice stay at the lodge. Off the beaten path, with quirky design elements and friendly vibe. The lodge is a bit rustic, but that adds to it's charm. Perks: wood stove that guests can use (!), outdoor area and walking space near the river in front of the lodge, very friendly and kind neighbors, quiet ambiance, and huge kitchen space. Bed comfort was 4/5 lol, but we still slept great because of the quietude of the house and neighborhood. Mariam is very quick to respond and was a kind host. We didn't meet in person but her neighbor, Bob, welcomed us and gave us a tour. Made us feel right at home.

We had the best time. Beautiful place, so scenic and incredible. Very relaxing!
