Walk to Hyde Park from This Sleek Mid-Century Mews House

Settle into this spacious 1950s Mews house less than 10 minutes walk to Hyde Park. Windows overlook cobblestone streets below. There’s something to be said about a vintage dwelling that can pull off contemporary furnishings, high ceilings, and walnut flooring. Staying in a mews house is a unique experience. Originally these small cobbled central London streets were built to house stabling for the large houses on either side. Over the years they have become some of the most desirable residences in London We’ve long been fans of 1950s design and chose this because it was built in the 1950s and designed to be easy to live in. Our house is warm and welcoming with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's spotlessly clean with high ceilings, walnut flooring and iconic "Crittal" windows looking out onto the Mews. At 100 sqm, it's the perfect size for a London stay, compact but not small (by London standards) and equipped with everything you could want We use the house ourselves when we are in London but we live mainly in Amsterdam. It is our London home and not a investment rental property and you will feel the personal nature of the property when you stay here. It feels like a home with lots of books, artworks and design items. But as a guest you won’t see more mundane or unsightly signs of our presence :-) We keep our own things on the third floor. This will be locked and off-limit to guests. The rest of the house is fully accessible and yours to enjoy and make your own. We make the house available when we're in Amsterdam or travelling so would not normally be available for guests. However we have a concierge service for immediate help and are always available ourselves at the end of the phone line. Paddington is a brilliant location for a London stay. Think of living in a Mews like living in a village with places like Paddington Station and Hyde Park all within reach. Though the home is quiet, Central London moves at full speed right outside. A London Mews is like a small community where everyone knows everyone else. So please don’t stay here if you are looking for complete privacy and anonymity; the Neighbourhood Watch is very efficient! This is a ridiculously convenient place to live. It's hard to believe that Heathrow Airport is only 20 minutes by train and yet you're only a 10 minute cab ride to the heart of London's West End. If you want to catch a tube, there are three underground (tube) stops within 5 minutes walk (Paddington, Bayswater and Lancaster Gate). For peace and serenity in the heart of the city, you're less then 10 minutes to Hyde Park. From there you can walk to Westminster without ever leaving parkland or take a boat ride on the Serpentine. If you want to cycle, the new London Cycle-Super Highway runs less than a minute from the house. This is a protected route all the way across London. Whilst we don't provide bikes but there are bikes available very close by. And if you want to get out of town to Oxford, Bath and the west country, then hop on a train from Paddington. Oxford is less than 60 minutes away! Or you can pick up a rental / zipcar and the main westbound freeway out of London is just a minute's drive too There is no parking available but you don't need a car in central London. You can hire one close by if you want to make a day trip There are no handrails on the stairs nor child gates or protectors of any kind. So although we do welcome families, the house isn’t “kid-proof” and isn’t robustly furnished nor well equipped for youngsters. But we have many friends with kids and they use our place when they come to London. So this isn’t a deal breaker of course so long as you understand the house’s limitations There are only two beds. The one is the master bedroom is a super-kingsize, width 180cm and 200cm long The one in the guest bedroom is 200cm wide but it’s a little short at only 180cm long. So great for children, teenagers and shorter adults. We orientate it this way because of the room depth. This is central London. Even in a Mews there is noise. And there will inevitably be construction work somewhere close by. Londoners are always making changes to their homes, digging up roads et cetera

Dine Al Fresco at a Contemporary Apartment in Balham

The property is light and spacious and the reception looking out into the private garden offers a tranquil feeling. I have created a 'London Theme' throughout the property. A good sized Master Bedroom with large King Size Bed, large wardrobe and chest of drawers and en-suite wet room (Shower, Toilet, Sink). Bedroom 2 has a double bed, large wardrobe and chest of drawers. Both bedrooms have a wall mounted television. The main bathroom has a bath with shower over, sink and toilet. The open plan kitchen and reception is ideal to both relax and socialise. Modern but homely, large kitchen bar counter with bar stools. A large comfortable sofa and a feature ‘spitfire’ chair. Separate bistro dining table and chairs. A large wall mounted television with sound bar. Full height glass sliding doors open directly out into the fabulous garden. The garden has a bistro table and chairs and a 3 Meter king built in seating bench (with made to measure cushions for comfort). There is also a built in braai / bbq and a decked area. Stunning lighting has also been installed to offer an ambient garden experience. We provide super fast unlimted fibre broadband for your added enjoyment and convenience. My Airbnb is a ‘permanent airbnb’. The property is for the exclusive use of guests. I live just a few minutes away from the property so am generally always available to assist where necessary, answer any questions or recommendations for local bars and restaurants. If you require any printing out of documents or business services, I also have an office close by and pleased to assist. Balham is a wonderful small London suburb with a village feel, with many fabulous independent shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants and pleasant nightlife scene including bars, old-school pubs, and the Banana Cabaret comedy club. There are many parks just a short walk away, including Tooting Bec, Wandsworth and Clapham Commons for green open spaces and picnics. Great rapid transport links into Central London via Tube or Train as Balham Station is just a short 5 min walk away. Just a 5 minute walk from Balham Station which is on the Northern Line Underground and on the National Rail over-ground both offering easy quick access into the City and West End. It’s just 12 minutes on the National Rail From Balham to Victoria and then a short walk to Buckingham Palace. On the tube it’s Just 20 minutes to the South Bank (Waterloo/Embankment) and a couple more minutes to Leicester Square. For the kids wanting the Harry Potter Studio Tour there is a train from Balham once an hour to Watford Junction where you catch the short 10 minute bus ride to the Warner Bros. Studio! Parking is available on the road outside the property and I offer complimentary parking permits on request. WATER I’m often asked about the water. Water from the taps is perfectly safe to drink. USB In every room we have plugs with a USB port for easy charging of devices along with a couple of international plug adapters GENERAL My aim is for all my guests to have a relaxing and wonderful stay at my Airbnb. For your convenience, all cleaning products are provided for you, this includes washing up liquid, cleaning tabs for the dishwasher, washing powder and fabric softener, toilet rolls, shower gel in bathrooms, liquid soaps and hair conditioner. In the unlikely event you run out of these during your stay please do call or message me and I will arrange a quick top up. LINEN We provide quality bed linen and towels for your stay. The apartment is accessed by its own staircase. The parking space is right next to the apartment. I am a Cambridge local and happy to share my knowledge if you need any tips, recommendations or advice. I am a new host and keen to make sure my guests have the best stay possible! Located in the lively Hills Road neighborhood, the apartment just across the street from the Cambridge University Botanic Gardens. The historic city center, home to the city’s most famous landmarks, is also within easy walking distance. Buses run regularly and stop on Hills road. The train station is 5 mins walk away. Most places of interest are easily walked to or cycled to. Parking for 1 car is provided. There is short stay pay and display parking for additional vehicles near by but it may be difficult to park a second car for longer periods.

It's close to award-winning pubs, Soho Farmhouse and Daylesford, and is within 10 minutes of 3 festivals: Cornbury, Wilderness, and Feastival. Chipping Norton is connected to Oxford & Banbury by the bus. The nearest mainline station is Kingham, which has regular trains from London (Paddington). This is a 5 minute drive away.
