Holiday rentals with lake access in River Stour

Lovely cottage, as described. Very quiet and peaceful. Hot tub a bonus and had been lit prior to our arrival to heat up. Great location for exploring Suffolk.

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely property which was in pristine condition. Very close to the university which was exactly what we needed for this visit. The free parking space round the back was super convenient. The house was well stocked with all the essentials and some luxuries too - a nice surprise. We'd like to thank our hosts for having the property ready for us in such a welcoming way. This was definitely one of the best places we've stayed at in Colchester in this price range, with lovely hosts too. We're looking forward to our next visit.

WHAT A PLACE! Stunning location and being on the water was amazing. The property was very well equipped and deceptively big. Having a bbq by the water made it really feel like we were on holiday (despite the typical British weather). We know Isleham well and it’s a great location to access lots of things going on and the village pubs have amazing food. We’ll definitely be repeat customers of this place and look forward to doing some more fishing, paddle boarding/kayaking and bbq’s when we come back 🥳

Dil’s place was perfect for our group. The area is quiet and there is plenty of parking on the driveway. We made great use of the super social sofa setup and the large folding doors between the garden at the dining room. As others have said, upstairs floors are a bit squeaky but not bad. Would stay again!

A very well appointed house within easy walk of railway station and city centre. Hosts very good at communicating and always responsive to queries. The house was very comfortable and had all the amenities we needed for a short stay in Ely.

Theo’s place is located in a very convenient area where we can easily access to supermarkets, restaurants and the Colchester Town station. Check-in was smooth and instructions were clear. Theo was also very responsive to our questions. Spacious living room, dining room and bedroom and well equipped kitchen. Only downside is sometimes the neighbours are a bit noisy at weekend nights. Overall we had a very happy stay, thank you Theo for hosting us :)

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this Apartment. Sarah was incredibly welcoming, kind, and made sure I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The apartment itself was spotless, well-equipped, and had such a cozy atmosphere. It felt like a home away from home! First time visiting Colchester and we couldn’t have picked a better place to stay! Home from home and the location was absolutely perfect, literally right next to the castle park and less than a 5 minute walk to the castle and high street. Peaceful and super clean. Reilly was the perfect host. Friendly, responsive and helpful. Kitchen had everything we needed to dine in. Bed was comfy and linen was clean. The bathroom was also spotless! Thank you for having us and we will definitely be returning. 5 star 🌟 stay x

we had the most relaxing and peaceful stay at Amanda's. It was do comfortable and cozy and the outlook and surroundings were beautiful. Amanda was friendly and so helpful before and once we arrived. Will definitely return.

Just what we were after, fabulous, peaceful, very cosy and private place. Few minutes walk from lakes with plenty to do including seeing some rare fauna. Short drive from shops and great local pubs with fantastic food, if you don’t fancy cooking for a change. The kids had an amazing time and so did we. We loved this place so much, we will be coming back.

We hired the cart lodge for our wedding locally and we really enjoyed the space, it was perfect. Angela was very accommodating. The location is very pretty and peaceful. we would highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay at the Cart, beautiful lakes and excellent fishing. The hosts were fantastic and there is a little cafe onsite. I would recommend staying here.

Sara’s place is honestly a hidden gem. It is the perfect retreat for a peaceful relaxing stay. The accommodation is great, comfortable beds, top notch bathroom facilities and the kitchen is very well stocked. There are basics in the kitchen but I would recommend taking some oil, seasonings as we have to pop out for these when we got there. The garden is perfect for your pup to have a run around and is well enclosed so no escaping. I have saved Sara’s place as planning to head back there with my mum hopefully this year! It felt like a home away from home.

We were looking for beautiful surroundings and peaceful location and we weren't disappointed. We could not ask for more. The cottage was spotless and Charlie was very helpful when needed. I do recommend the place with no hesitation.

We’ve stayed in lots of AirBnBs but Rose Cottage has got to be the best! It's a newly refurbished cottage and we were lucky to be the first to stay in it since it's reopening. Absolutely pristine, wonderfully put together decor and lots of thoughtful touches that made it really special - including a very lovely welcome hamper and beautiful organic toiletries to use. The whole place smelt divine! Beautiful private garden as well as huge grounds to roam around in, including an amazing swimming pond - we dived straight in on a scorching day. Pauline and Mat were was the loveliest of hosts and really made our time there feel very relaxed. They were on hand if you needed them but unobtrusive if you want to be left to enjoy the tranquility of the place. Very easy to get to the coast to explore but you may not want to leave the cottage! We all absolutely loved it and will be back.
