Fitness-friendly holiday rentals in River Stour

We had such a perfect stay here. We’re already talking about when we can book another visit! Super comfortable and cosy, the listed amenities made it so easy to have a relaxed time and switch off; we also didn’t have to pack that much. The hot-tub was amazing, and a great idea having a booking system in place. If we were staying for longer we still would have had plenty to do. Wifi was great and plenty plug sockets for charging phones/laptops. Went for a meal at the local pub down the road which was amazing too! Lovely views, nice and peaceful surroundings. You can hear the road from the hot-tub and decking chairs, but not enough to spoil the experience at all. Simon was super welcoming and helpful. I can imagine a place like this to be perfect to stay in during any season. It was both sunny and raining when we went, and it didn’t spoil the stay at all. Cannot wait to stay there again soon!

We had the absolute pleasure of staying here for a quick getaway, and it was a true home away from home. The space was beautifully decorated, spotless, and full of thoughtful touches that made our stay special. We loved the jacuzzi and upper deck area that really allowed us to take in the sun and beautiful scenery. Our hosts were outstanding - warm, communicative, and ready to assist when we had questions. You can tell they genuinely care about creating a wonderful experience for their guests. This was one of those stays that left us feeling refreshed, grateful, and already dreaming of our return. This place really has it all and we cannot recommend it enough. Thank you again for such a memorable stay - we will definitely be back!

Great place, easy access, clean and comfortable

This place was great as so close to the town and getting around, clean and lovely little touch of milk, bread and cereals. beds very comfortable

Chelsi is a fantastic host, so communicative, friendly and so helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the forest house. The bedrooms were lovely and spacious, the tv in the living room is amazing and we loved the conservatory and the hot tub. The coffee and tea amenities provided were very generous and thoughtful. Chelsi provided great recommendations for places to visit and walks into the forest straight from the house. We would highly recommend staying at forest house.

The Dragonfly was just exceptional! Everything about it was of the best standard, luxury. From the toilet paper to the bedding. There are 6 or 7 other venues on the White lodge estate run by Victoria but it all feels very private. Yes it is in a very quiet location and you need to drive to restaurants etc but the facilities to cater for yourself are pretty much as you have at home. Coffee maker with pods provided! We cannot really give high enough praise. We had 3 wonderful nights at the Dragonfly, thank you Victoria and all those who do the background stuff we never saw.

The house was absolutely lovely. Gorgeous inside and out, and very comfortable to live in. The village is very quiet, but it's only a short drive into Colchester, where you can find tons of things to do. Chris was a great host who made check in easy and made us feel very welcome in his home. Would definitely stay again!

We had such an incredible time at this house. We were all pleasantly surprised at how great the house was and all the amenities. I don’t think the advert does it justice. We were a big group of 21 with 11 little ones who were in HEAVEN. We got very lucky with the weather and spent the whole weekend in the glorious grounds. We brought our own paddling pool and it was perfect. The aspect of the house means you get stunning sunsets and the back terrace is a real sun trap - long evenings sunbathing until 7pm! The surrounding area is stunning and the local village is so beautiful!! Walking distance (even with a million young children) to the village shop and then on to the very well equipped play park. We only wish we could have stayed for a week, the kids never wanted to leave. Some very special memories made here! Rachel the host is on the end of the phone for any questions and was excellent at responding to our queries.

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful farmhouse! The property is spacious, well-equipped, and has a stunning garden which the dogs loved. The quirky games room was a highlight, featuring a stripper pole, darts, football table, and pool table — lots of fun! The hot tub and gym were also great additions and made the experience feel extra special. The property was clean and tidy and well maintained. There were a couple of downsides worth mentioning: two bedrooms were very basic, with just mattresses on the floor, which wasn’t ideal and could be easily improved. Also, while we were fortunate that the second property on-site wasn’t occupied during our stay, it may not have felt so private if it were. Also completely out of the hosts control was the noise from building works on a new development being built but it was only during working hours and not a major inconvenience to us. Overall, a lovely, getaway with loads of character at a great price for what was included, we would return

Her prompt communication, helpful tips about the local area, and genuine care for our comfort truly made a difference. The location couldn't have been better. Situated in the heart of the city, we were able to explore all that Cambridge has to offer with ease. Overall, our stay exceeded our expectations in every way. Caroline came out to greet us as soon as we arrived and made us feel very welcome. She explained everything to us and recommended a local, walkable pub nearby and told us of places to visit on our way home. Her husband was also very friendly and informative. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.
