“5/5 This is an excellent option in Melbourne. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay during our visit to attend a wedding. Helen is friendly, interesting and helpful. Definitely recommend. Good points about this place: - 11 tram stop across the road, very convenient for Northcote, Fitzroy and the city. Around 30 mins ride to CBD. - Coffee shops and restaurants less than 10 mins walk. - Very spacious, there is plenty of space for 3 people in the bedroom (1 double and 1 single bed) and other rooms - Privacy as you have your own bedroom, dining/work room and bathroom - Helen is very relaxed and helpful meaning you always feel comfortable using the shared kitchen. - Myki cards, guidebooks and umbrellas, hairdryer, access to washing machine, parking outside.Lots of towels and blankets. Helen is quick to respond to emails or messages. All in all convenient and easy. Other points to note: - In summer the room gets light early (6am-ish) and the tram also goes past outside from early morning. Whilst this is extremely convenient it also means you can be woken up early. If you're a light sleeper (like me) recommend to bring eye-mask and earplugs - I used them and had a great sleep. - There is no aircon, but there are strong fans in both bedroom and dining room. But if you need aircon during the summer its better to find somewhere else. Highly recommend this place as a base for exploring Melbourne.”
Newly built and very comfy garden studio, seconds from the tram and minutes from the train. Bustling, trendy Thornbury High Street on the doorstep.
“I escaped to Kate's place after an unexpected allergy attack at my new residence. I'm so glad I found Kate's listing, it was perfect for my needs. The studio and the adjoining bathroom were clean and stylish. The space itself is quiet and peaceful. I had a nice time sitting out on the porch, hanging out with Kate's adorable pets. The room gets lots of sun so it wasn't cold even in cooler temperature. The bed is super comfy and there's tea and coffee to be had. I felt like my old self within a few hours of being at this place. The location is great - so many great cafes and restaurants nearby (even during COVID times) for take away. A perfect spot to stay in Melbourne for both locals and visitors!”
This freshly decorated period house, built in 1915, is in a quiet area with a comfy double bed in a good size bedroom for 1 guest. This is not 5 star accommodation, but for 5 years I have offered a comfortable & friendly home environment as an alternative to impersonal hotels. There are many eateries within a 5-10 min walk and the close proximity of trams & trains makes travel into the CBD (8kms away) easy.
“I loved staying at Lorraine's beautiful home! After a long day of walking through the hustle & bustle in the city, the tram ride in the evening always felt like going 'home'. It is a quiet place, a spacious room compared to others that I had to experience, in an old building with modern standards. Lorraine is a very kind woman who travelled a lot herself and I loved our little chats in the evening while rubbing Tilly's belly. For me it was the perfect stay and if I am ever lucky enough to go back to Melbourne I would definitely stay here. If you don't want to stay right in the city center but in a more quiet place I can only recommend you choosing Lorraines.”
