Farmstay holiday rentals in Potomac River

The house was beautiful and extremely clean. We had a wonderful time watching the snow and wildlife through the windows while staying cozy by the fire. Beds were comfy and neighborhood was quiet and beautiful. Would definitely go for a restful retreat again.

Our stay here was such a good time. The scenery, the seclusion, the comfortability of the cottage alone made it worth staying. Me and my wife initially booked for 3 nights but ended up wanting to extend for one more because we enjoyed our time so much. We still didn’t want to end up leaving. Mr. Alton made the process to extend super simple and easy for us. He was polite, responsive and was just a good host overall. Most definitely will be booking again in the future.

Great cottage with all the cozy touches: tissues and cotton swabs in the bathroom; a fully stocked kitchen with coffee, tea, and breakfast; lots of throw blankets and pillows; books and a record player. Honestly what else could you want? We also loved the location -- rural, but easy access to everything Harrisonburg has to offer. Highly recommend.

I had a wonderful stay at 7 Elms. I had to come to the area for a work event in Gainesville, and my team and I decided to stay at this AirBNB. It was so lovely. Such a cool restoration of an old farmhouse, and the property was serene and wonderful. We didn't have time to explore the area, as we were working so much and long hours. the only thing I can speak to is the grocery store - and it had everything. We saw a bunch of wild animals during morning coffee time, and that was really special. I don't think I've actually ever seen groundhogs in person, and there's a hysterical duo that run the show. The hosts were easy to communicate with.

We had a great retreat at John’s place. The farm was just the spot for a quiet weekend outside the city. John was a great host, thoughtful and responsive.

Loved our stay here! We had a wedding nearby and found this place and we were blown away. Beautiful views and outdoor space. We will be back!

We LOVED this Airbnb. It was in a perfect location, very close to Charlottesville but also felt like we were in the middle of beautiful rolling hills and vineyards. Plenty of space inside, and so much to explore outside! We loved saying hi to Patricia’s dog and to the goats 🥰 thankful for Patricia being so flexible with us! Would love to stay here on our next trip to Charlottesville!

We had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. The farm tour with Madi was excellent, truly a must do! The yurt was cozy with a short walk to the pool and hot tub. It felt like a private retreat. We had some big rain storms while there, but inside was dry and comforting. Will absolutley be back!

Perfect place to unwind, even if is for only one night! Reconnect with yourself and disconnect from everything else.

The Cottage is spotless & generously stocked with everything you need. Great water pressure in the shower & the mattress hugs you. Morning coffee with long horn cattle was so relaxing. We loved everything & cant wait to come back.

This place was beautiful, quiet, clean and had so many extra amenities. The heated pool was great, even on the rainy days! We enjoyed the HBO Max on multiple TVs in the house and even on the porch! The creek was great too for the kids to explore. We were glad we had saved the check in key code ahead of time, as we had no reception until on the cabin’s wifi. Brandon was VERY responsive when we had questions. We definitely hope we are able to stay at the cabin again! Just wish we didn’t have to leave!!

Sugah Shack is a sweet spot for base camp as we hiked in Shenandoah National Park. It was very clean, beautifully decorated and the best-equipped place we’ve stayed in. Communication with Carolyn was quick and easy. We enjoyed watching the family of deer who showed up each evening too! We would definitely consider staying here again! 100% would recommend for couples who want comfortable peaceful private getaway. This early 1800's home has fascinating historic charm AND all the modern amenities. It is obvious that much thought and care is put in to assure comfort of guests. Carol and Mike are friendly, accommodating and responsive. Best, most unique bnb stay ever. Will come again and will highly recommend to family and friends.

Our stay at The Hidden Hive was absolutely everything we hoped for—and so much more. Tucked away on serene, picturesque farmland, this charming cottage is the definition of peaceful. You truly feel like you’ve stepped away from the busy world and into a little pocket of calm. The location couldn’t be better—just minutes from Appalachian Trail hiking and surrounded by the sweetest local shops and restaurants. It’s clear that this is a lovingly owned and maintained property by a small family, and that warmth is felt in every detail. The cottage itself is incredibly well-appointed—everything you’d expect from a hotel, and so much more: coffee, crramer, toaster oven, tons of bottled water, fresh eggs from the farm, laundry supplies, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, extra linens, towels, and pillows. Whether you’re looking for a cozy base for exploring the area or simply a peaceful place to unwind, The Hidden Hive is a true treasure. We would absolutely stay again & highly recommend!

The Great Escape was a true escape! Both the tangible and intangible amenities are top-notch. The location of the home was perfect, not far from the city, quiet and serene. With easy access to everything. The view of the mountains, sunsets, and sunrises are beyond beautiful. The home was clean, peaceful, and beautifully decorated. The positive, encouraging words posted throughout the home reflected the love and peace that is present! The daily devotional on the sofa table was certainly comforting. Heather (the host) was quick to respond to my messages and inquiries. She was very gracious. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this listing. I will definitely stay here again in the future. Note if traveling with elderly travelers. There are no grab bars available, and in order to access the front door, there is a long stepped walkway with no hand rails.

Jeff and Bridgette were great hosts. The cottage was a perfect location for a short and peaceful getaway! We also appreciated the local guide for local hot spots and restaurants! We would definitely return in the future and recommend to others!

Great place, quiet in a beautiful setting. For the size of the town it was nice to find two notable places to eat; "Mack's Bingo Kitchen" for dinner and the "Lost River Trading Post" for a light fare and coffee. There are some great hiking trails near by and within a reasonable drive. Unfortunately most of our stay we had rain but we managed to get one good hike in. Hosts were very responsive to our inquiries. Thanks!

I cannot say enough good things about Lynn’s place. Myself and 3 girlfriends went for a girls weekend and the place was perfect. I have never been in an Airbnb with such a well stocked kitchen. We cooked most of our meals in the house and had access to spices, nice knives and pots/ pans/ plates. Not like a normal Airbnb that is bleak and bare. The pool area was super cute and easily accessible. We met and chatted with Lynn who was so sweet and helpful- and she has the cutest dog ever, Baxter. The beds were comfy, the showers had plenty of water pressure, there was plenty of room inside to hang as a group. The surroundings were gorgeous. I cannot overstate how much we enjoyed our stay! Honestly the place is better than the pictures. Thank you Lynn!!

The cottage was such a pleasant stay. We were able to socialize and enjoy the other guests’ company as if we were staying in the house. The space was perfect for 2. We enjoyed the unique shower setup— it makes you feel like you’re in an outdoor shower. M.J. was an incredible host who gave us all the ins and outs of where to go and what to do to make our experience unforgettable. We have never had an Airbnb host cook / prepare a meal for us before so that was new and we thoroughly enjoyed this bonus (plus each breakfast was out of this world)! He allowed us to use his paddle boards to enjoy the water as well. Great host, great stay, great location!

This was our third visit to Moonfire Farm, and as always, it was delightful. The living space is comfortable, welcoming, and well-equipped with thoughtful attention to detail, and the farm is amazing. We loved playing with Luna the dog, brushing the goats, finding the chicken eggs, feeding the alpacas, and watching the ducks. Our 3-year-old loved the zip line, and we all enjoyed splashing in the pool. There are great restaurants nearby, and we also cooked some meals at the Airbnb. We took a nice hike in Preddy Creek Park, just 5 minutes away. We are so grateful to Christina, Stu, and Piper for their hospitality and warmth, and we look forward to coming back!

What a wonderful retreat! I can't think of a better place to stay where you're surrounded by books, art and the countryside.

We had a wonderful stay here! Matt and Kelly were communicative through our visit, instructions for check in/out were easy to follow, and the house was so cozy and secluded -- exactly what we hoped for! We would absolutely love to stay here again in the future!

The farm cottage is a wonderful respite - clean, comfortable, peaceful. Kelly’s homemade breakfast pastries were delicious and the fruit was very refreshing. We were visiting family for our grandson’s high school graduation, so we regrettably were not able to explore the farm. We hope to return in the future to learn about the farm’s history and visit the horses. We loved having the dogs greet us when we arrived. If you are looking for a comfortable, quiet place to relax, this is the place. We have already recommended the farm cottage to another couple. Thank you Phil and Kelly
