Shepherds hut holiday rentals in North Dorset District

An absolutely dreamy escape for two! complete with scenic views, and enough special touches to feel at home. Fiona made everything so comfortable and we look forward to coming back!

Sam's place was a joy to stay at! It's an annexe of an old house on the high street with a lovely bedroom overlooking a courtyard and a spacious living room and kitchen area which overlook the garden. The garden is full of fruit trees and wonderful plants and is very well tended. A bathroom and a second toilet made getting out in the morning easy as well. Castle Cary is a wonderful town (recommend the Somerset Wine Company and the Gallery which Sam and his wife run!) We did use the jacuzzi (for an additional fee) and sitting in there listening to the live jazz from the bar and looking at the stars was a dream. We made a new friend in Bobby (the dog) who just wanted to play fetch Loved our night there and would happily return!

Amazing stay at Mark’s shepherds hut. Incredible location, super peaceful and as described. Well kitted out. We had a lovely BBQ and enjoyed some marshmallows say around the fire. The abbey nearby was worth a visit and had a swim in the river. Would definitely visit again. Thanks Mark.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Amanda's Shepherd's Hut. It is small for 3 people but it's so cosy and very comfortable with everything we needed. The location is perfect, really beautiful with lots to do and in the heart of the New Forest. Amanda was a wonderful host, we really enjoyed her company and we learnt a lot about forest life. We loved her place and all her animals and would definately recommended it and I'm sure we will be going back there! Also the breakfast was so delicious! Thank you so much Amanda, you are a very lovely and inspiring woman. xxx

A delightful and charming place to stop and relax. Everything was superb - the hut, its private garden, the thoughtful book selection, the bed linen which smelt of fresh air, the warm croissants and home made jams. Daisy the retriever, was the icing on the cake. Sarah and Frank are warm, available as needed but respectful of privacy.

Cozy little stay with brutal surroundings. Fully equipped so cooking for two is no issue!

An amazing stay here for the weekend and Ruth went above and beyond to help me feel at home. Lots of nice little extra touches, I can't wait to come back one day!

A wonderful stay at the Collie for 2 nights. A wonderful well equipped Sheppard's Hut and the extra special touches that Chloe provided from the arrival hamper to the hot tub being preheating for arrival. The views across the Somerset levels are beautiful and the night time sky was perfect for relaxing around the fire/bbq and in the hot tub. Thr local area of Glastonbury and cider farms add to this lovely weekend.

We had a lovely stay in the shepard’s hut and everything was as described. Gail and john were both very helpful and friendly. Would definitely come stay again!!

Me and my friends had a wonderful time at the Showman's hut. Everything was just as we had imagined. Peaceful and relaxing. The only problem we had was that we should have booked the hot tub 48 hours in advance and I did 24 instead so we could not use the hot tub. In the end Neily was very accommodating by giving us some extra logs for the firepit and barbeque which we appreciated. Next time I will make sure to book the tub in advance to enjoy the full experience at Showman's hut as it looked amazing. Thank you Neily for the hospitality.

My daughter and I had a lovely few days staying in the lavender shepherd hut, beautiful location- everything was perfect, such thoughtful extras left for us for our arrival made it all feel very special. Thank you!

The shepherds hut was beautiful and cosy and Vanessa and Stuart were very welcoming. We especially enjoyed seeing the lambs and the picturesque lake. We had the best time and wish we’d stayed for longer!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Sheena. She was helpful and welcoming upon our arrival and gave us lots of great recommendations on things to do and see in the local area. Her hut was cosy and quiet and a perfect spot to listen to the birds over coffee in the morning or watch the sun disappear behind the trees in the evening. A perfect private escape from reality. The hosts were very friendly, helpful and they gave recommendations about local facilities. The Shepherd's hut was spotlessly clean, very well equipped and extremely comfortable. The EV charger was very easy to use and we could use it whenever we wanted to. It is a beautiful location, very quiet and peaceful; we enjoyed watching the birds and the pretty garden. We found plenty to do in the area and would love to return one day.

Had a lovely three night stay in Acorn hut. Spacious and very private outdoor space with a hot tub for relaxing. Bathroom facilities were clean and shower was great. The hut itself was cosy with everything you need for a few nights away. Big enough for my partner and I as well as our large greyhound. The host was lovely and helpful with advice about places to go and the surrounding area. Would definitely recommend a stay here for anyone looking for a peaceful spot.

Fabulous place that is beyond what you would expect from a Shepherd’s Hut. Great thought and attention to detail has clearly gone into building and designing this place. It’s deceptively spacious and has got everything you need and more, the hot tub and outside seating are real bonuses, all in all a fabulous spot.

My partner and I had an amazing stay at this Airbnb. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and at home. The place was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and had all the little touches that made it feel special — from the cozy bedding to the well-stocked kitchen. This was such a lovely trip for us as a couple, and we’re already talking about coming back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a romantic, restful escape!

Great little hut on the edge of the heathland, that perfectly suited a chilled night with our youngest son, he absolutely loved the hut, collecting wood for the fire and the rope swing . Perfect nights sleep had by all.

A lovely hut in the New Forest, beside the local pub (which we didn’t actually try). A peaceful location! Really well appointed, luxurious hut, with v comfy bed and a lovely bathroom! What more could you want!

We had a lovely two night stay at The Salt Hut which is in an ideal location for exploring the area. It had all the facilities we needed and the property was described accuratey. The owners were very welcoming and communication with them was very easy.
