Family-friendly holiday rentals in National City

Place was very nice and worked well for us. Definitely keeping in mind for future visits.

Lydia was a very responsive host and was really easy to communicate with. We were a little skeptical because we knew we would be staying on the property where she lived with her family and were worried about privacy but the cabin is very private and although we naturally bumped into Lydia and her husband a few times, they did not spend any time out their back yard (where the cabin is located) for the duration of our stay so we had the place and the yard pretty much to ourselves which was great. We didn't realize how far away we would be from shops and restaurants. It is about a 20 minute walk to the nearby town so we did spend a lot of money on ubers but that was our own fault for not doing our research beforehand. Overall Lydias place is very clean and had everything we needed for our stay, she even had some stuff in the fridge and cleaning products which was really convenient. The hot tub was a fantastic way to close out our evenings. The location was walkable to Ocean Beach, however beware of the “hike” back after an evening out! Those hills can be a doozy!

The VIEWS!!! Absolutely breathtaking. We could’ve spent the entire trip just soaking in that ocean view—it was seriously next-level. From sunrise to sunset, it was pure magic. We absolutely loved Kate’s place and Kate herself! She was the best host we’ve ever had. The property was beautiful, peaceful, and had such a fun, quirky charm that made it feel like a hidden gem. The bed was insanely comfortable, the robes were perfectly cozy, and the coffee? Delicious. The art supplies and hot tub facing the ocean were truly to die for—I didn’t even want to leave to explore San Diego because I was so content right there. We slept with the back door open to hear the waves crash all night long and let the ocean breeze in. The neighborhood felt super safe and had such a great vibe. We already know we’ll be back to see Kate every year. No doubt about it.

Sean's place was exactly as he described, a perfect respite. Been coming to San Diego for years to visit family and hands down this place has the best parking options I have ever experienced in SD. Plenty of easy street parking within feet of the unit and up and down the short city block. A true rarity in SD, even had spots open on garbage day. Super quiet street and neighborhood too. We'll be back.

The space was perfect for our family. Great sized full and clean kitchen even though we didn’t need to use it a lot. Lots of space for us and our 3 kids, and we appreciated the toys and baby high chair+pack n play! The kids really enjoyed the back yard space. We only saw the neighbors in passing so the space was basically all ours during that time. Hosts were very friendly! Location was close to everything we needed. No issues with the street parking. We would definitely stay again!

Our place was a perfect fit for my family of four. It was updated, clean, nicely decorated, and had all of the amenities. We really enjoyed the dart board and foosball table as well as sitting on the balcony watching the planes and harbor. Our host provided great instructions and was very responsive.

The accommodation is just like the photos and what is described; quiet, clean, close to all the areas of interest in San Diego. We had a small problem on our first day, but Minh responded and resolved it immediately. He was always attentive to making our stay as pleasant as possible. Located in a great neighborhood, within walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, bars and shopping. Also close to downtown and the airport. Plenty of on street parking. Owners were communicative and responsive.

The house was extremely clean and easy to find. The home is central to restaurants, coffee shops, and bars, that are all in walking distance. Alex had clear instructions that made the check-in process super simple. The house is peaceful and quiet with space to relax inside and outdoors. Will definitely stay here again when n San Diego.

Charming Airbnb in a very quiet neighborhood. Great communication from the hosts and nice treats and a bottle of wine to welcome us. Street parking was a little tight, but we always found a convenient space nearby. Would definitely stay there again.

David is exactly what the reviews said about his responsiveness. My family and I can say this was our best experience ever in San Diego. We felt at home and this experience made it easy for my wife and I to conclude that when traveling with our young kids, we would be better off reserving an airbnb with a great host like David. We had a wonderful stay at this cozy little cottage! The space was thoughtfully stocked with common personal care and household items—perfect for those little things you might forget while traveling. Olga was a great host , she and her son were very welcoming , kind and communicative. She talked to us about a lot of things on gardening and was kind to share some of her plants with us. The house was perfect for a small family including a dog and was tastefully decorated with antique pictures and paraphernalia. The area in an interesting quaint neighborhood and we loved walking to the restaurants around there for food and deserts .

We are so grateful to have been able to stay at Gwynn's place, it is so peaceful and lovely. Like a secret garden getaway. We loved all the small touches, and beauty of the space. Gwynn made us feel very welcome and comfortable! The pool is amazing and the outdoor spaces are delightful. Can't wait to stay here again.

Anthony’s apartment was just what I needed for my adult son and me. 2 twin beds in the living room worked well as another bedroom without the cost of a 2 bedroom. The kitchen is small but had all we needed to make bfast in the mornings. Helpful to have a parking spot in back and washer dryer in unit. I really enjoyed the location next to an urban park, pretty neighborhood for walks, and short walk to restaurants and coffee shop. Anthony was super helpful when we arrived.

I cannot even begin to describe how wonderful our stay was! Greg and Leslie made us feel right at home, and it was such a treat to stay in such a historical home!! the tub was wonderful, the views were beautiful to wake up to, the home was well stocked with treats and coffee, i could go on and on! we were able to walk to restaurants that were just a few blocks away (i am 7 months pregnant and the walk was a breeze). parking is great, the pool was amazing and relaxing. everything was amazing. would highly recommend

Wow, what a perfect haven for our San Diego stay. The space is cozy and beautiful, the pool pristine and the views stunning. The quickest drive into the city, and returning each night feels like a restful retreat. Such responsive and kind hosts, we hope we can come back to this peaceful retreat again soon!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful Airbnb! The location was stunning, with ocean views and the soothing sound of the waves—it was the perfect place to relax after a day out. There were several great restaurants within walking distance, and we loved being able to grab snacks from the nearby Oxxo, just a short 5-minute walk away. The host was very accommodating, allowing us an early check-in, which we really appreciated. Security at the front was helpful and friendly—they assigned us a parking space and made it easy to find the building. We did experience a couple of minor issues: the shower wasn’t draining properly, and on the third day, the door wouldn't lock. The host responded quickly to our messages, but unfortunately, no one showed up after we waited about an hour. However, the issue was resolved while we were out, so everything was fine when we returned. Despite those small hiccups, we had a lovely time and would definitely consider staying here again. This is an ideal, affordable, family friendly stay. They have a stroller and high chair in the closet, fresh garden we were invited to eat from, lawn games and endless fun in the awesome pool. They had a fire prepped and towels supplied. Oh! And tons of beach stuff to borrow! They were excellent hosts and we had an amazing visit.
