Guest house holiday rentals in Mount Desert Island

We had the most peaceful & gorgeous stay here—the cabin is cozy and beautifully decorated, right on the edge of the burbling Peters Brook (which has a great trail to follow to a little waterfall in the woods!). The beach is just across the street with a great view of the harbor, but the house is tucked in off the road and felt very private. Only a couple minutes from town and not far from Acadia if you're hoping to see the sights. It was chilly during our stay, but there's a wood stove and space heaters which kept us cozy; be warned that it's a cabin in rural Maine if you're not used to creepy crawlies etc. Lucie was a wonderful host, super friendly and lovely to chat with!

This is our second time staying here and we love it. It’s great for our little family of three. Feels like a little home away from home with everything you’d need. Steps away from a great trail and quick drive to so many other things. We love it here and will be coming back again.

This is a perfect little rustic gem, and actually quite spacious, and the little back deck facing the lupine field wonderful. Minimal traffic on the road, and the walk to the bathroom is an easy 100 feet. Casual and not precious. Perfect for us Mainers on a work trip up to nearby Acadia. Highly suggested.

This is truly a gem of an Airbnb. John is an excellent host, being communicative and very helpful throughout the stay. The property is private, serene and well maintained both inside and out. He even helped me acquire some fresh lobsters to cook while we were there! A really special stay, I will definitely be back.

This is the perfect Maine cottage experience. Easy to enter cove water for a swim. Cannot beat the view/sunsets. Sitting on front porch is the best. Very well stocked kitchen. Would stay again! Be aware there is no WiFi connectivity if you need that and one of us needed that for a work emergency so found public access. Us old folks found the lock box remote entry confusing. There was a small boat house close by and although visually blocked by trees could hear people talking on porch one night. Very little toilet paper supplied which based on how well everything else was likely an oversight but forced a quick trip to the Island market before it closed.

What an absolutely gorgeous and quiet location and with such gracious hosts. We enjoyed our stay so much we’re already planning our next year’s visit. Deborah and Charles are absolutely wonderful. Thank you!!!

The loft was beyond what we could have asked for . It was in a beautiful location across the street from the beach. The balcony overlooks the town at night and was excellent for viewing the night sky. We were lucky to see the Northern lights from the Loft the week we’re there! Maria is Wonderful with her communication and directions. My husband and I would definitely stay here again and hope to if we are able to visit again in the future! Thank you for making our Trip so memorable.

Karen was terrific, always responding quickly to our questions. The setting and house were beautiful with all the comforts of home. The house was conveniently located for a variety of destinations in DownEast Maine.

The listing was as described, and the sunset views were even better!!!! The studio was clean, welcoming, and perfect for 1 of us! We lacked for nothing as everything was adequately stocked!!! The host was friendly and was very prompt with responding. Great little place to stay!!

Hands down one of the best places I have ever been. Linda and Jay were so warm and welcoming. Homemade cookies, breakfast items, tea, coffee and snacks. Everything we could ever need. The home is beautifully decorated and immaculate! Linda and Jay were very proactive and thoughtful! They even left information books about the area, gave us some recommendations and answered all our questions. I wish we could have stayed longer! It was truly magical!

Chris’s place was beautiful and spotless. Had everything you could possibly need while being away from home. Anything I needed was right already provided, along with snacks for hikes and pancake mix that we used for breakfast on our final day before leaving. From the beautiful bathroom with the shower AND the tub, to the high ceilings in the kitchen/living room, the art that is all around the home, games, entertainment, etc. this place is absolutely perfect and we can’t wait to make our next trip to Maine to stay here again! We highly recommend this place! Rob and Cassie were great, very responsive. The home was more beautiful in person than in the pictures and the view was wonderful!

This is a little slice of paradise. I came here to do nothing, essentially--read & swim for a few days in beautiful, quiet surroundings. Diane was immediately welcoming with a warm greeting and quick tour. You have privacy here, but if you need anything, she is right next door. I couldn't recommend staying here more highly! The house is perfect for a short stay near Acadia; it was immaculate and the view from bed in the morning is beautiful. The vintage-looking mini fridge is one of several nice touches. There is no stove, but there’s a microwave and an air fryer. Carla is an extremely gracious and accommodating host. I’d stay again in a heartbeat!

Lorianne keeps the cottage very clean and feels like home. Lorianne was a very response and proactive host and the suggestions that she gave us were very helpful. Unfortunately it was cold during our stay, so we didn't make the campfire right outside the cottage.

Beautiful place! Pamela and Marc were so kind and brought me warm water when I was feeling unwell. The geese and chickens were very charming. Highly recommend to anyone in the area for Acadia.

My wife says hands down the best AirBNB experience she has had! The property was beautiful and a great location. The host provided a detailed list of local restaurants and things to do which was very helpful. Getting an Uber to the wedding venue was tough so the host even offered ride services for an extra cost. We were so grateful!! The homemade blueberry muffins and pile of snacks were such a nice touch too. I really hope we get to have the opportunity to travel back to Winterport again to stay here again in the future. The wildflower garden is beautiful right outside the window, and the cottage has been cared for well, decorated lovingly, and cleaned thoroughly. The location was convenient for us. Bruce was helpful and responsive. We were happy that this cottage was available.

Great cottage that felt like home. Beautiful setting. You can see the water however there is another house that sits between the cottage and the water. Great location!

Aimee and David's place is new and beautifully done. We enjoyed meeting them both. Loved the place: The view, ease of access (once you find it the first time!), cleanliness, and the general layout. The kitchen has everything you need and there's plenty of storage available in the rooms and bathrooms. The bedrooms and bathrooms are identical so there was no discussion as to who gets the better view, etc.! Everything from the layout to the conveniences is well thought out. I loved having my morning coffee on the deck overlooking the Taunton bay. Thank you Aimee and David. I hope to go there again.

We had a wonderful stay at Bria’s place. It was the perfect size for 2 people, and had all sorts of extra toiletries available in case we forgot anything. We appreciated having a washer and dryer with detergent available. The bed and linens were very comfortable, and the room darkening shades were great. Parking and accessing the unit was simple and easy.

Wonderland was wonderful! Not only was the place immaculate and adorable but the location was perfect for privacy and peace! We felt right at home at Aarons and appreciated all the amenities including a delicious breakfast with THE BEST PASTRY EVER!!! Aaron knows the area very well and provided us with detailed maps and instructions to great sights that we would have never known of! Honestly this was the best airbnb we have ever stayed in.

We stayed at the wonderful Blueberry Cottage for a work trip and couldn’t have picked a better place to unwind. The cottage was cozy and charming, with everything we needed to relax after long days. The peaceful setting and beautiful blueberry fields made it feel like a perfect escape. And a big thank-you for the amazing blueberry spread—such a thoughtful and delicious touch! Highly recommend!
