Beach house holiday rentals in Monterey

Sean's cottage is an absolute delight, we moved in as though it was our own home. Worth reading previous reviews mentioning building works next door. As we were prepared for this (they started 8am promptly Mon-Fri), also ants (which didn't show up) and the racoon in the bins (which did show up) none of this was an issue, and was reflected in the reduced rental. Sean was an excellent host, replied speedily to any queries, including calling a plumber for a minor problem. The cottage is the most homely of places, there's everything you could need, the kitchen is generously equipped and the beds are very comfortable. The pretty patio is full of flowers and birds. Since it was April, we were not outside in the evenings, but it seems noise is an issue with neighbours. There are polite but firm notices requesting no outside noise after 9pm which could be difficult on hot summer evenings. This was one of our favourite Airbnbs, the location is fabulous, so much to do, we were busy all the time

Amazing views and a peaceful location—waking up to the ocean and wildlife was unforgettable. This was our hub for exploring Carmel-by-the-Sea and Big Sur. A short 30-40 minute drive to Big Sur for hikes, and just 10 mins to downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea for great dinners. There’s also a handy general store at the bottom of the hill. A couple of notes: This is one of 4 units on the property. While listed as “entire home,” there’s a unit attached at the rear with a door that opens directly into your space through a hallway (for my wife’s peace of mind, we kept our bedroom door locked at night). Another unit is above, and one more is detached in front. That said, everyone keeps to themselves, and interaction is minimal besides maneuvering past their parked cars in the driveway. Also, screenshot the address and key code—cell service drops near the hill and the turnoff into the property is easy to miss in the dark the first time around. Thanks for hosting us, Emily & Mason! What a lovely stay. My family really enjoyed it which means I enjoyed it. If you have a complaint it’s almost like there’s too many things. The place is STOCKED and feels lived in. The house has everything you need - (everything from wet suits, to an Nespresso machine, sunscreen, cleaning products, a truly stocked kitchen) Only 2 tiny issues. There seemed to be some pet dander from dogs (family member is allergic) and tiny issue we had was with the old cooktop, so hopefully they get an induction or glass top stove at some point. Electric grill Based cooktops are a huge pain in the butt - but we love to cook- and may not be a big deal if u dont. This price for beach front property is hard to beat. The backyard is fairly private and is relaxing. All in all a GREAT stay!! The area is patrolled by local police at night- felt safe, home well stocked & bit cluttered, the neighbors are quiet, in construction and/or empty, good responsive host and the view is FANTASTIC 😍🌊

Cute cottage in beautiful calm neighborhood. Felt very safe. The house had everything we needed including a pack and play that our 4 month old used. The host was kind and responded quickly. For guests with young kids- just be aware that the curtains in the bedrooms are sheer. The sun was shining bright just after 5a which would’ve been awesome if we didn’t have our baby with us.

The place is beautiful and only steps away from a beautiful spot on the beach. Two of the rooms have a beautiful patio that provides an look into the ocean. The parking was a little bit difficult just because it is street parking and if you go on a crowded day you may have to circle around a couple times to get an open spot. The host was very kind and answered texts very quickly. I would stay here again in the future for sure.

We had a wonderful stay at Theresa’s place. Great location and very well maintained. We’d love to stay there again.

Evan's place provides the best views of the ocean and is located close to multiple beach waves points. The electric bikes made for great fun, as we rode all over town. It was a great place, for a great price. A true million dollar view, especially from the decks. Highly recommend to people of all ages.

Mimi and Alan’s is a wonderful home base in Monterey/Pacific Grove. This was a last minute trip for us & we really lucked out that it was available. The home itself is beautiful, with everything you need in walking distance. We walked to the aquarium, the grocery store, the cute restaurants up the street, & the trail along the ocean to Lover’s Point - so many seals and otters visible along the way! The only little blip that we had, & it’s no one’s fault, is that the kitchen breaker had tripped before our arrival. This wasn’t obvious to us as we hadn’t used anything in the kitchen, except the microwave which remained unaffected. It wasn’t until late in the afternoon the following day that my husband decided to investigate because the fridge was not cold. We did end up having to throw away some of our groceries that we bought upon arrival. If helpful, there are green lights on the outlets that let you know they’re working & breaker box info is thoughtfully included in the house guide.

The place was very clean, comfortable and well located to do lots of fun stuff, near the village/ downtown and near a great walking / view area at Los lobos, as well as 17 mile drive.

Beautiful location. House is amazing. One afternoon a family of 3 owls were resting on the house roof. We saw a dolpine swim by, courtesy of the excellent binoculars provided by the house owners and lots of wildlife in the really colourful sand dunes. Very happy to recommend.

This one is truly a gem and exactly as described. Great space, great view and balcony, hear the waves from the living room. They equipped it as they live there, we lacked nothing. Also managed by very reaponsive team, so this is a great combo. Would definitely stay again! One thing not listed in the instrux was where the not so easy to find designated parking space for the unit is and the need to go down the driveway from the street to get to the building.

The heated pool and hot tub were the focus of this very successful vacation. There were 8 of us: a family of 4 from Oakland, (Mama, Papa, girl 7, girl 3), from Chicago - a couple 37 & 40, and from Martha's Vineyard, us, 75 & 79. The 3 bathrooms were great, and the kitchen was well equipped. We ordered out mostly, from Hawaiian and Mexican restaurants. We spent a day on the boardwalk, and another on the trail at Wilder Ranch, where cliffs overlook ledges with MANY sunning sea lions, The house is easy walking distance from a couple of beaches. During our winter stay, there were high tides, wind and surf warnings. The views were spectacular. Also instructive. The father took his daughters an early morning walk; they saw a woman swept from the beach across the pavement. She had bloody knees, but was otherwise fine, but she and her two equally insane friends came off the beach. I hope the girls will remember this vivid lesson when they grow up to be invulnerable teenagers. Doubt it.

Fantastic location and home for a family get-away. Much to see and do on site and in the local area. The home is very comfortable and welcoming with all the amenities you might need and more. Can’t wait to book again!

This is a beautifully kept home that accommodated all the needs of our trip. Rooms are very spacious and plenty of restrooms for everyone. Very peaceful location and host was great at communicating. We had a very pleasant stay.

We had a lovely weekend with our family celebrating a birthday. The place was perfect for hosting 6 of us, walking to the beach and then driving up to Capitola and other towns very close by for celebration dinners. We enjoyed staying here and would definitely recommend others to consider for a beach getaway.

We had a wonderful stay at Marci’s Airbnb — we truly didn’t want to leave! The space was beautiful, cozy, and thoughtfully prepared. Marci went above and beyond with personal touches like fresh flowers, wine, and cookies, which made us feel so welcome and at home. Every detail was just right. Highly recommend this lovely spot — we hope to come back!

While the home itself is small, the use of the space is creative and was perfect for our small family and our dog. We especially loved the gated yard with lights and plenty of seats to sit and enjoy the beautiful weather. There are several nearby restaurants that were walkable and delicious and a grocery store that we could walk to and pick up some items. The home is close to all the attractions of Monterey which was especially appealing. We had everything we needed and the kitchen was fairly well stocked and everything was clean. Would stay again!

Catherine has thought of all the little things that are often overlooked. Plenty of towels and extra pillows and blankets. Hooks EVERYWHERE for towels or clothes. The entire home was extremely clean! I hope I get a chance to stay in her home again!!! THANK YOU for making our vacation special.

I loved my stay at Kim’s! I’m a Northern California native and I was thrilled with the rustic, laid-back vibe of Moss Landing. Walking distance to sumptuous coastal landscape. Loved that I could bring my pup. The bathtub was luxuriously appointed with thick white towels and boutique toiletries. Would come again and stay longer! Love, love, love!

What an absolutely beautiful place to stay! Incredibly quiet and so clean! Karin was so easy to communicate with and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The hot tub and views were added bonuses and it truly felt like a quiet escape! We absolutely recommend staying here!

Clean, compact and cozy cottage. Clutter free. We stayed three nights with our pets, and this cottage suited us perfectly. A nearby park (Martin Park) provides a destination for a short dog walk, or as the gateway for a longer walk if one is inclined to venture into the neighborhood. Our neighborhood stroll led us to discover a yard landscaped brilliantly with succulents, at the corner of Lowell Street and Mingo Avenue, only one block north of Martin Park.) The cottage's off-street parking brought peace-of-mind, as there were lots of vehicles parked on the street. We had a delightful visit. (If you have an especially large vehicle, inquire of the hosts first about compatibility, as the street is a bit narrow. We were in an average size vehicle and had no problems.)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jackie's beach house. The house was walking distance to all our favorite places to go. Honestly, we loved hanging out in the backyard too. The BBQ was perfect and ready to go. I wouldn't change a thing, it was perfect and we look forward to coming back again.

This beach bungalow is fabulous ! The home is clean, comfortable and has all the amenities needed for a relaxing getaway! The outdoor patio is a bonus living room! The location has a nice ocean view and easy access to walks along the beach. Heather is a great host! The recommendations provided are very helpful and spot on! Will definitely book this wonderful gem for our next visit to Santa Cruz!
