Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Makahuena Point

An incredible, private and comfortable detached Ohana in a beautiful neighborhood. Conveniently located and walkable to numerous shops, restaurants and the ocean (beaches). We met the owners-sweet, cheery and kind people. Thank you both!! Shaka to you both!! We would definitely stay again in the future. :-) Aloha & Mahalo!!

We really did enjoy our stay here, it was easy to check in and it’s about a mile away from some very delicious restaurants and shops. The rec center is down the street and the pictures are as described. Brandon is very responsive and quickly answers your questions and gives useful information. The cottage was quaint, clean, and very cozy and relaxing. It was very clean, however I did have an issue with some things that weren’t thoroughly cleaned and wiped down. I’m very particular as I’m very allergic to dust so I mentioned this to Brandon and he offered to have his cleaner go back and fix the spots that weren’t thoroughly cleaned missed. However it wasn’t anything major as I’m just picky. The kitchen and bedrooms were immaculate and looked brand new. There are tons of supplies in the house and in the garage, which I loved. Brandon was so kind, due to this issue the owner came by and gave my kids candy and a book to read. It was very thoughtful and sweet. Overall great experience.

This property is stunningly beautiful! It has a designer vibe yet is quite comfortable, incredibly well appointed, and centrally located. The communication with Aurora was amazing! She was super responsive and very informative! We have stayed in Airbnb’s all over the country and internationally and our family agreed that this was the nicest one we have stayed in and the best experience by far!

Nice spot for a family of 5 on an island adventure. the seacoast is a short walk and along the coast there is a hiking (or trail running) trails that can go 5+ miles. we never used the beach in front of the nearby hotel as it is rough, but walked to and snorkel at Poipu. the house has games, and a private backyard.

We stayed our last night in Kauai at Jake's place, and it was nice to have somewhere very close to the beach while still feeling very private and peaceful. The only noises heard were the chickens. They have air conditioning as well, which made for a comfortable sleeping situation after having spent the last week in an un-air conditioned space that at times felt too warm and humid to be comfortable. We didn't make use of the kitchen, but it was a nice space. Not sure about the pans/dishes but the sitting area was comfortable. The bathrooms were nice a clean, and the beds were comfortable. We did book this last minute, and so we felt that the rate was well worth the amenities and comfort.

Jacob's place was wonderfully located! The rooms were spacious and can easily host a good group. He was communicative and provided good recommendations for nearby food and beaches. The chairs, wagon, towels, and other outdoor amenities were a major plus! Would definitely consider rebooking next time I'm in Kauai.

Giselle’s home was perfect for 6 persons. Each of the bedrooms were well appointed with comfortable mattresses, pillows and clean white linens. The bathrooms were well stocked with plenty of towels, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, hairdryer. We cooked most of our meals. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking- appropriate pans, utensils, plenty of dishes and refrigerator storage containers. The dishwasher and washer and dryer came in very handy. Giselle has beach toys for children and there were spokes and flippers for snorkeling and two bicycles for a quicker ride to the beaches (which were many in number and very walkable.) Giselle gave us great information about the best beaches and we had a fascinating tour of Richard’s coffee roastery where he roasts and ships the coffee beans for his business: Kauai Roastery. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a great time here! We loved the location next to the Grand Hyatt and all that they have to offer. You can walk to shipwreck beach 5-10 min. Geralyn was very responsive to any questions we had during our stay. it was hard for us to find a place last minute that would accommodate 7 guests. this place worked out great it's just the right amount of beds. if you are looking to stay in Poipu/Koloa this is a great option. We loved all the beach gear available for use in the garage. Very convenient. Hope to be back again sometime in the future.

We wanted a space in the middle of Kauai with nearby beach, restaurants, and only 90 minute drive as far as you can go to either the Tunnels Beach or Polihale. We mostly traveled to the less touristy beaches during the day and spent the evenings swinging on the porch swings looking at the beach between the AirBNB and the Hyatt each evening. Great space for 2 with separate bedroom and living room for couples that get up at 2 different times and a washer dryer so we could bring clean clothes home. Great kitchen with all the upgraded supplies. 2 walkable coffee shops and restaurants less than a mile away. We stayed at the Four Seasons Maui the week before and although we really, really enjoyed the understated luxury, we liked Kauai and this space better. Thanks for a great week!

We’ve stayed in Baby’s Beach area and Koloa before but never at Kuhio Shores. We really enjoyed location and the unit! The stove wasn’t working properly so that was a bummer as it disrupted a couple meals we planned to make but they were very responsive and came to unit to assess situation. We would stay here again.

We had a lovely stay at Jim’s place. The condo had everything we needed and all that you’d need to have a great beach day (snorkels, umbrella, chairs, towels, etc). Easy check in and free parking. The facility across the road for a pool, outdoor gym, etc., was a nice touch and something we enjoyed utilizing. 10 min walk to the beach and a cute area for dinner, we recommend Keoki’s paradise for drinks. A 5 minute walk to a great breakfast cafe, little fish. Overall we would absolutely stay here again.

This place was even better than the pictures!!! We loved it here. 10 steps out the door and you can see the ocean. Can walk to shipwreck beach ... place was Clean and had a very comfy bed! The AC in the bedroom was amazing. If we ever come back to Kauai we would love to stay here again! Thanks kathy

Great stay! Nice location with lots to do close by. Had everything you needed. Very comfortable space. Cameron was very helpful and responsive.

A wonderful stay for our young family! Stay was well kept and as pictured. We loved the walk ability to beautiful beaches and access to the Athletic Club. The area is unmatched and the A/C wonderful. Bonus: the kid amenities. It doesn’t go unnoticed that Shaun and his wife are parents and took the time to think of the little things. Little fish is a definite bonus across the street! We hope to be back. As hotel owners ourselves we would highly recommend this stay.

My husband and I came here for our honeymoon and Alex’s place was great for our stay! The place was clean and close to many shops and restaurants. We enjoyed walking to get coffee across the street and eating at the local spots. It was well stocked with anything you’d need for a beach day. The mattress in the master bed was also a little stiff and I wish it was closer to the beach or had a closer beach view, but it is within a few minutes walk of a nearby beach. Overall, it’s centrally located in the south shore and I’d recommend to stay in this place!

Our stay here was PERFECTION for our family of four! Comfortable beds and linens, perfect amount of space, spotlessly clean. Parking lot can be tight when it’s full, but not troublesome. A little confusing to find at first because of construction closing different routes, but nothing difficult to figure out. Some construction repaving the parking lot when we were there but we didn’t even notice unless we were coming or going! Perfect corner location with LOTS of flora making it feel tucked away. Lots of options for walking paths and perfect distance over to explore the Grand Hyatt. Tons of options for “extras”; four beach chairs, umbrella, sand toys, boogie boards (one not even opened!). It was seriously the most perfect home away from home! Dominika was so responsive to every text, it was great!

The condo had a beautiful view, comfortably furnished, everything we needed and wanted.

Absolute paradise! The house had everything our family needed, beautiful views and the air conditioning was much appreciated on the hot days. The location is wonderful with a very short walk to great restaurants, a beautiful beach, and access to the athletic club across the street that gave our little ones fun for hours with the resort style pool. We hope to stay here again in the future! Many thanks to Derek for his friendly and proactive communications and a great stay at this beautiful spot!

This is a very nice condo. The beach accessible from the property is excellent and a short walk from the unit. We took lessons at the Kauai surf school which is on the property. We used the athletic club, located just across the street, which has a very nice leisure pool and exercise facilities. Use of the club is included with the rental. We enjoyed going to the nearby Poipu shopping village and Shops at Kukui’ula for shopping and dinner. We enjoyed our stay here.

We had a wonderful time. We were staying with our daughter’s young family — kids 1 & 4 — and wondered how it would play out. It was perfect. The baby slept in a Pack & Play in a large, no-windows closet that we could monitor remotely. The open floor plan meant that those relaxing in the living room could chat with whoever was making nachos & the ones working on the jigsaw puzzle on the dining room table. Mornings & evenings we’d open the wall of floor-to-ceiling glass doors to the covered porch with dining table & lounge chairs. The pool was a 1-minute walk away but somehow we never heard noise from it. When we arrived I was pretty brain-fogged from travel and reached out to Reema with questions I should have been able to answer with the instructions she’d sent. She was always quick — and gracious — in her replies. Our daughter’s family was leaving before us but the baby still needed her morning nap. Reema kindly extended checkout time to allow for that. We’ll be back!

We have stayed in a few different places on Kauai but this is absolutely our most favorite spot. Beautiful view, fell asleep and woke up to the sounds of the ocean. Clean, easy access and lots of room. The next time we come back we will definitely try to stay there again.

Our spot had great amenities and a good view. Only minor issue is the very tight spots in the parking area. Lots of communication from the front desk was appreciated, though we did not necessarily need it. One great thing we found that we want to tell everyone about is that there is a free Poipu shuttle that will pick you up and take you to the local restaurants and beaches, it runs from 5-10pm.

Peters place was perfect for us as returning visitors to poipu close enough to every th inch that we could walk to most stores and restaurants in the immediate area and at a great price for the area.
