Family-friendly holiday rentals in Macon County

From the mountains, the quiet surroundings, the privacy, this place was beautiful and well worth the money. We didn’t eat out once we used the kitchen and having the double oven helped so much. The air conditioning was ice cold in the best way! It was warm outside and after a day of traveling, walking into the nice cold place was awesome! We do a yearly vacation and every time the hot tub was broke so we didn’t have high expectations for this one but it worked great just took some time to get real warm. If you ever decide to come to the Sylva area this place is a great pick! Also, the owners checking in on us a lot to make sure we were enjoying our stay and they were there if we had any questions or concerns. Definitely look into this place! Just make sure you have 4 wheel drive to get up the driveway.

The cabin was great—clean, spacious, and well-stocked. We loved having a second fridge in the basement for extra storage and easy access to drinks. The kitchen had every gadget we needed, plus condiments. Rooms were comfortable, bathrooms spotless, and the whole place felt like home with thoughtful décor and attention to detail. The deck and small playground were perfect for the kids. The only downside was the 10 a.m. checkout. For a large group, it felt rushed to pack, clean, empty the fridge, return items, and drive 4 miles to take out the trash—especially considering we were already charged a $210 cleaning fee. We did most of it, but were still charged extra $50 for not putting away folded chairs and the table extension. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and we truly enjoyed the cabin despite that. .

We are so happy we stumbled across this gem! The cabin is incredibly cozy, but also spacious. It has great amenities (hot tub, fire pit, gas fire place, multiple porches with mountain views) and lots of privacy. It’s tucked away, but close to so many great spots like downtown Sylva, Harrah’s Cherokee, and our favorite, the American Museum of the House Cat. The host is incredibly responsive and the space was spotless/equipped with everything you could need including games! We will absolutely be back!

super helpful when we were trying to find it. host was worried gps would send us the wrong way and gave step by step directions. thankfully, our gps worked out fine because we came in from the opposite side of the mountain, but his directions were on point coming from the other side. beautiful view. nice and clean. within 20 min from most anything you could want to do.

Stunning setting overlooking a beautiful lake; just minutes from town. Very private setting. Loved the history of the cabin- so authentic to the area.

Very beautiful location. View is worth everything. First level has one bedroom and a one bedroom loft both with en-suites. Downstairs is an adorable total suite with bed, large bathroom, small sitting area, bar table and seats, microwave, coffee, small refrigerator. Wifi is slow. Host worked with us but unfortunately we ended up doing classwork and work needs at the coffee shop in Franklin for internet speed.

We loved our stay at the lodge. There was lots for our 10 grandchildren to do. The lines were fun. Everyone loved the game room and the porches.

We enjoyed every single thing about our stay. The views are spectacular, the house is adorable and extremely well-maintained, and the hosts were friendly and helpful. Simply couldn't have been a better private, peaceful getaway

Wonderful time in this home, tons of space and close to everything downtown. Lovely location with a peaceful dock to sit out for coffee. Home was comfortable and everything was as described. Thanks again!

The cabin was great and the view was fantastic! We had a great Christmas vacation. Definitely needed a four wheel drive especially with all the rain.

We had a fantastic stay at the cabin last week. We especially loved the back porch- picnic table for outdoor meals and the big swing was awesome! We walked from the cabin to the start of the Cliffside Lake Trail- what a great location!

Place was extremely clean,close to main st highlands but far enough away to be quiet, Becky responded within a few minutes, had a fantastic time in highlands and surrounding area,we travel to highlands often, first time using a airbnb loved it!!Becky's a great host to work with.

Exactly what I was looking for, seclude and with a lot of nature around it, but close to a lot of recreation. Great place for relax.

Second time at this magical place and it’s so hard to leave. We sit on the deck and just marvel at nature in utter peace and quiet.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay. Along the Little Tennessee River was very peaceful, I only wish I’d brought a fishing rod. Instructions were clear, check-in was easy, and simple requests to follow upon our leaving. You will be just outside of Franklin, NC and central to many outdoor activities and places to eat and visit. I would definitely recommend a stay here and hopefully be able to book again when I’m back in the area.

This was my 3rd stay at Margaret's Franklin Farmhouse. As always, it was a very pleasant stay. The setting for the home is very peaceful and serene. When you awake in the morning and open the blinds, your view is the mountains in the distance and a large pasture with grazing cattle. The home is tastefully decorated and is always spotless. Margaret is very easy to reach if you have questions and is quick to respond. I would highly recommend this lovely home. I am already looking forward to my next visit.

Wonderful design and features that I described to friends as “Hobbit glamping” - but way more on the luxury side with historic local designer Joe Webb touches throughout. Inspiring spot for a writing project and the WiFi was excellent within a geographic oasis where I otherwise did not have much cell signal and could fully unplug. (Ran a 200+ person Teams call that was stable using the WiFi.) Walked through the trees near the front parking to go to Highlands BBQ and High Country Wine for a tasting. Dry Falls and all kinds of hiking an easy & quick drive away; Downtown Highlands also an easy & quick drive or little walk on lovely back roads. Definitely pay attention to driveway entry and parking instructions. Screen shot instruction ahead of time in case you don’t have signal. Loved this stay — one of my favorites, and would love to stay again!

This is the perfect house for a family mountain weekend. We had lots of room, a well stocked kitchen and laundry room. It was just minutes from downtown Highlands but felt very secluded and peaceful. We would love to return.
