Private suite holiday rentals in Macon County

The property n host were amazing. It is quiet, secluded & deep in the woods with a million dollar view - exactly what we wanted. We got there late after dark and it was challenging navigating somewhere new for the first time. GPS/WiFi is spotty until you get to the house so make sure u load directions before leaving the city with a cell signal. This can easily be overlooked when searching several properties on the Air B&B - 1) this rental is on the first floor, pass through the Ground-level second floor porch and go down the back steps - and 2) the house has everything you’d ever need except for an oven/stove (if you planned on cooking). Cathy has done a wonderful job decorating - and the homemade loaf of pumpkin bread makes it one of a kind rental. Oh and finally, we bought some bird food at the store and put it on the top of the deck railing - the colorful birds came non-stop and fully entertained my mother-in-law while sitting out on the back deck.

We loved staying in the private one bedroom/one bath apartment in Janet’s home. Our stay was comfortable and easy. We had our own entrance and private patio to enjoy. Her home is at the end of the road and surrounded in trees and solitude and also only a short drive to amazing hikes. Janet is a super woman and wealth of knowledge having traveled and hiked all over the US and the world. Tap into her knowledge before you venture out on a trail. We look forward to seeing her again.

Beautiful and secluded area. Tom & Melissa are the most gracious hosts with great recommendations for great hikes and surrounding restaurants. We’ll return as soon as possible.

Our family of 5 (three young boys) SO enjoyed staying with Linda even though it was only for one night. We were greeted very warmly by her and shown around her beautiful, idyllic property. The rooms were large yet very cozy. The location is gorgeous—peaceful and secluded. Linda also gave us a few helpful tips on how to make the most out of our brief stay. All in all it was perfect.

Great little space for a couple or two. We enjoyed the convenience to downtown Highlands and the private deck. Clean and cute!

Best air B&B stay we have ever had in Highlands. The place was great and Julie thought of everything that a visitor to Highlands would want. We will look to their place first on future visits.

Great location and perfect for our weekend getaway.

The stay was lovely. It was a long drive up a gravel road. It was beautiful. It would have been easy to get lost. Which we drove around a few times when leaving for food. Definitely wouldn’t want to drive that road after dark. Room was clean and had an excellent shower. Susan sent messages to let us know if we needed anything to let her know. All in all, great stay and would recommend.

Melissa's property was amazing. We rang in the new year there and had everything we needed. Amazing views with georgous sunsets. Great outdoor space where we would light the fire are just relax. The kitchen had everything we needed!!

I have stayed at Heather’s Hillcrest Hideaway for chunks of time over several months while working in the area, and it couldn’t have been a better home away from home. The space is clean, comfortable, and exactly as described—perfect for a long-term stay. The Wi-Fi was reliable, which was essential for my work, and the kitchen had everything I needed to cook regularly. The neighborhood is quiet & safe, with easy access to great grocery stores, coffee shops, a book store & a beautiful waterfall. Heather is incredibly responsive & respectful of my space—always available if I needed anything, but never intrusive. It’s clear she cares about her guests’ experience. I’d highly recommend this stay to anyone working in the area or needing a longer-term rental. If I return for work again, I’ll absolutely hope to stay here.
