Greenshadows - a detached 16th-century Scottish cottage fronting River Leny with views of Ben Ledi in the heart of the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. The house has a rich history. Locally called ‘The Pink House’, it was a safe haven during the Jacobite uprising. The author of ‘The Junglebook’ is thought to have resided at Greenshadows for a short period. Of note is William Turner’s painting of Ben Ledi from Kilmahog Bridge (on display at the Tate Gallery) just a few hundred metres away.

Our stay was an enjoyable experience from first to last. We were visiting family in Stirling, so it was convenient enough for us in terms of proximity being a 35 minute drive away. We were a group consisting of two grandparents, two parents, two boys of 8 and 5 and a baby of 10 months. Grandparents took the downstairs double bedroom with ensuite. The parents and children occupied the entire upstairs where the main bathroom was located. This was a great arrangement for all. The property is equipped with really good quality appliances and fittings throughout. Well thought out, an excellent design with open plan flow and loads of natural light. Views of the loch and mountains from most windows. A great internal space for socialising and plenty of outdoor furniture also. Most eventualities for your holiday have been considered and provided for. One addition that would be useful given the amount of rain and washing of mucky clothing would be a tumble dryer. Overall it was an excellent.

The Retreat Hut

This was an unforgettable place to stay. Where else can you have your own stone circle, jetty and a rock with Neolithic carvings? The location is right next to the loch with a stunning uninterrupted views. We sat on the veranda which is dry in all weathers and watched the changing light and teeming birdlife: there were swifts, swallows, geese, swans, wagtails and an oystercatcher... It is a wild and private retreat, but the internet is brilliant, the kitchen and shower function well. We were warm and cosy at night. We will dream about coming back!

This special place surpassed all our expectations. The attention to detail and care in every aspect, from the little jars of shortbread to the amazing roof beams, is simply incredible. Everywhere you look, there's something interesting, clever, or beautiful. The location is perfect for a city break; it's an easy walk from the train station, with many attractions on your doorstep. You can even see Holyrood Park and its dramatic crags from the apartment. Once inside, you're completely cocooned from the world. We found ourselves structuring our days to maximize our time there. It truly elevated our stay, making it an unforgettable experience.

The cabin couldn’t have been more relaxing! Exactly what we needed after a long travel to start our trip. We were able to relax and unwind with the outdoor bath and fire pit and the chilled champagne and breakfast basket were perfect on arrival! Thanks to Mandy for giving us the best recommendation on a local golf course, Murrayshall was gorgeous and challenging! Thanks for this little gem Alice we hope to be back!

We absolutely loved our stay — it was everything we hoped for and more. The views were breathtaking, and the peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect escape. Our dog, Clover, had the best time too and made a new best friend in Bertie (Ronnie and Laura’s lovely golden retriever). It felt like home and we were genuinely sad to leave. Can’t recommend it enough — thank you so much for such a special experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The most wonderful cabin with such a majestic view of Loch Goil, absolutely breathtaking. We felt instantly relaxed the moment we arrived. Iain was a wonderful host, warm and helpful, and gave us some fantastic recommendations for special dinners at Wild Kabn and Inver, both unforgettable experiences. We walked every day, soaking in the scenery, and were lucky enough to spot seals swimming right in front of the cabin! The space is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and thoughtfully equipped, from the cosy blankets to the picture-perfect window views. Morning coffee overlooking the water felt like a scene from a film. A magical stay we won’t forget.
