Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

It’s your “comfort” home away from home❣️ Close to transit, UVic, Camosun College, Cedarhill Golf Course, shopping malls, restaurants. Less than 10 mins drive to Jubilee hospital. Easy self-check-in for your convenience (code entry). A very comfortable double sofa bed that easily closes for more space during the day. A kitchenette, just no stove/range.

Great place. It's in a fantastic location surrounded by restaurants, and only a block to Victoria's inner harbour. The unit is clean, modern, and comfortable. It's also on the same level as the building's hot tub and pool. Matthew was very responsive so communication was excellent.

Jennifer's house is in a beautiful neighbourhood and her garden looks superb. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless. Her and her husband were excellent hosts. I had a wonderful stay! The place is thoughtfully designed with so much attention to comfort and detail. Everything from the quality of the amenities to the little decorative touches like fresh flowers on the table! really showed how much care went into setting up the space. While the room is on the cozier side, the smart layout, aesthetic choices and the amenities provided made it feel just perfect for my short stay. Fiona is very responsive, instructions are clearly mentioned and the location is well connected to the downtown. Overall, a great choice!

Was ideal for my 2 night bike ride escape. Katelyn is a wonderful host - space is first class, very comfy bed, easy in and out and location is perfect. If you want a comfortable bedroom, quiet neighbourhood, yet close to ocean (1 block), restaurants and sites…….then highly recommend.
