House holiday rentals in Downtown San Diego

I am a San Diego local, but my family was coming to town and we needed more space. I picked this place because I knew my sister and brother-in-law would love being able to walk to all the restaurants and brewery nearby and my 6 year old nephew would get a lot of use out of the pool. The place exceeded my expectations, it was perfect for everyone. We spent a lot of time in the backyard swimming or playing board games, and my Mom got a lot of use out of the hot tub. Communication with the host was excellent and the place was comfortable and clean. The only downside is my family might visit too often now!

We had a fantastic week in La Jolla! John’s place was charming, spotless, and perfect for our family. The home was well-stocked with thoughtful amenities—including beach gear—and had everything we needed to feel comfortable. The location is unbeatable: a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood within a few minutes walking distance to the beach, great restaurants, coffee shops, and more. John was a friendly and responsive host who made everything easy from start to finish. Honestly could not have asked for a better host. Highly recommend for families looking for a relaxing, convenient stay in La Jolla. We’d love to come back!

It was wonderful. The views from the deck were amazing. Every bed was comfortable. I loved the bowl of gummy’s they had for us 😁. It’s was perfect for our family reunion everyone had privacy and the family room’s furniture was perfect to cozy up by the fire and watch tv. I loved the weather there. I opened up the windows and we had perfect weather so we never had to turn on the air conditioner. Kelly allowed us to put the cover over the pool and it warmed up the pool and the grandkids had a blast. We had multiple generations at home ( 4 generations from 85?to 1 yr old 😁) and everyone was happy. Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy family together.

Stay at Katri’s was great. Had delicious cookies waiting for us when we checked in, which was a breeze. House was spacious and entire lot was very big. Pool was great and even after we had told them that no heated pool would be necessary, Mother Nature had a different idea and gave us some more than unexpected chilly weather, so they had no problem throwing the heater on for us. Freeway in the background was hardly a noise problem for us personally. Just far enough that it didn’t affect us, and was nice to see what our morning commute was going to be like. Brought two dogs with the group that absolutely loved everything (after one of them finally got over his fear of the staircase). All in all a great stay in a great neighborhood. Cant comment more how quickly they responded to us in the days leading up to the trip, and while we were there. Great hosts!

Quiet location, exactly as pictured and described. Parking could be a challenge if you have a large vehicle but being able to park in the garage made it easier. Great communication!

Nice place to stay in the San Diego area. Conveniently located within reasonable driving distance to popular attractions and nestled in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood. The backyard and pool are beautiful. The pool was by far the highlight of our stay. Miguel is an exceptional host: responsive, accommodating, and a pleasure to communicate with.

Exactly as the other reviewers have described, it is just a beautiful oasis in a perfect quiet neighborhood. Don’t wait, book now!

Van was very friendly, even had great food recommendations for my family and I. The home was one of the best Airbnbs I’ve ever stayed in. My children thought we were in a place of royalty with how well put together the house was. Loved our stay and will definitely be back

Brent’s place was amazing and I would definitely stay there again! It’s in a great location close to lots of restaurants in South Park and my favorite coffee shop Santos coffee :) Their home was beautiful inside and out with a great yard space for the doggies!

Perfect low key place for a party of 4. It’s very serene and charming inside with comfortable beds and quiet at night. It’s about a 15 minute walk to more shops but a cute market and great BBQ place a few blocks away. We had a great time!

Kevin's cottage was the perfect place to stay in San Diego. I loved the back patio surrounded by flowers and fruit trees. The home was a fitting Shabby Chic style, immaculate and comfortable for one or two guests. Kevin communicates very quickly and is right there in the neighborhood to help if needed. The surrounding neighborhood is comfortable to walk around. I will certainly seek another visit at Kevin's cottage when I return to San Diego.

Great place to stay if you're looking for a house just outside of downtown San Diego. Very comfortable interior and a homey vibe with a bonus front patio area to hang out outside. Love that it was dog friendly, although the lack of grass in the area was a bummer. We read reviews that said there was grass in the front yard, but upon arrival found that it was just all mulch and zero grass for the dogs. The area is also slightly sketchy, but we had zero issues.

We really enjoyed staying here! The area is close to everything we wanted to go see. The space was clean and had everything we needed. The bed was super comfortable! I would recommend this space to anyone needing a cozy spot to stay in San Diego.

Daniel's San Diego home was an absolute dream come true for our family of six! It far surpassed all our expectations and stands out as our best Airbnb experience to date. The amenities were simply amazing – the game room, movie theater, pool, and spa provided endless fun and relaxation for everyone. Daniel was also incredibly responsive whenever we had questions. We genuinely hope to stay here again on our next visit to San Diego!

WOW! I can’t say enough good things about Birdhouse and Billy & Jim as hosts. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!! They were so communicative and beyond accommodating. No ask was too big for them and if they were able to make it happen they did so in a heartbeat. They let us drop off our luggage early and gave us a late check out! The Airbnb was everything from the pictures and MORE and was also in the best location!! There were snacks & waters for us and every room was decorated so cute it was amazing. It was filled with everything you could possibly need for your stay. I went with my friends for my Bach and it was perfect and spacious and so fun and the backyard was so beautiful. We went hot tubbing and it was so nice and the lights in the backyard set such a fun mood. The mural in the backyard is stunning and we took many fun pictures there. I’m running out of characters available but if you’re going to San Diego stay at the birdhouse!! Thanks Billy & Jim for the best trip!!!

Lovely little house in the heart of Northpark. Close to lots of shops and restaurants and perfect for a stay in San Diego. Lynn was great to deal with. Clear instructions and her house is well kitted for a longer stay. So nice to call it home for the 10 days.

I had a wonderful stay at this Airbnb! The house was incredibly quiet, which made for a relaxing and peaceful getaway. I absolutely loved the aesthetic—thoughtfully designed, cozy, and full of charm. Everything was spotless and well-maintained, which made it feel even more comfortable. Highly recommend if you're looking for a serene and stylish place to unwind!

My stay here was exactly how I wanted it to be. The home was very clean and had a lot of necessities like cookware, silverware, shower products, and so much more! Everything was super neat and organized. The bed was extremely comfy. The host was very easy to communicate with and made sure we had everything we needed, also made sure all our questions were answered. I am looking forward to staying here again when I return to San Diego. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is thinking about staying here. You definitely get your moneys worth.

Very quiet location perfect for a family. Walkable to some good spots in South Park, including coffee, Target, and a market. Great base for getting into downtown and exploring Balboa Park. Really appreciated the beach equipment too! Quick responses whenever we had issues.

In more than 40 AirBnB stays around the world over the past 10+ years, this property was one of the best for me. Was traveling solo, but tons of room, great ammenities for the bathroom and sleeping. If you are looking for a full blown kitchen its not the right place as there is no dishwasher or stove/oven. There is however a microwave, air fryer coffee maker and full sized fridge. But, remember your a 3 block walk to some of the most amazing fresh meals in Little Italy and I did a lot of that. Plenty of bars to relax and chill and a great ice cream place called Salt and Straw that is always crowded. Remember CA pricesw, so things are a bit more expensive. Michael was a great host. I would def stay here again. Thanks Michael.

We had a great time at Ted’s place. Great location, within walking distance to many great restaurants and parks. The place was very clean and comfortable and he even had snacks and wine ready for us, which was a nice touch.

Shannon and Brent are unbelievable hosts. Let me tell you how amazing they are. We booked with them last minute for Memorial Day weekend. Unfortunately one of the bikes got stolen right before our stay. They offered to bring them over at 9:00PM because they wanted us to be able to enjoy them the next day. They're just genuinely nice people. They also don't ask for much in return aside from respecting their space. The house is beautiful. It is close to the airport. It was cool sitting outside watching the planes land. Pretty quiet with the windows closed though. Location was great. Close to bars and restaurants but far enough for it to be quiet. 10/10 would stay again and recommend. Thank you so much Brent and Shannon!
