This room is named after our town Mazomanie. Our town’s name, Mazomanie, comes from Chief Mazomani, a leader of the Sioux of Minnesota. His name translates to “The Iron That Walks,” or “Walking Iron.” Our town was named by Edward Brodhead, a superintendent of the railroad during the 1850’s. Chief Mazomani was described as a firm friend of the whites. He was wounded on September 23, 1862, in a battle between a band of Indians led by Little Crow, a Sioux chief, and the U.S. Army near Yellow Medicine River, Minnesota. Chief Mazomani had sought a flag of truce, but was shot while running toward the Army’s lines. He died several days later. The queen-sized bed sits calmly amid native furnishings and decor. In addition to being in the Willy Street neighborhood, we are on the bike path and a short walk to anywhere downtown. Don't feel like going out? Take a hot tub, sauna, kayak/paddleboard, have a cup of coffee on the dock, or roast marshmallows by the campfire. Or rent our pontoon (Friday through Sunday) for an additional fee.

Yahara River paradise!

Fantastic 2 bedroom waterfront home on a dead end street, with beautiful views of the Yahara River, yet only 25 minutes from downtown Madison. Serene, quiet, and teeming with cranes, eagles, osprey, beaver, deer, turkey and turtles! Spend a day floating in a kayak or fish off our pier, as the river has almost no motorized boat traffic, averages 2-5 feet deep, and has a very slow current. You will love to sit out on our brick patio with firepit and watch the water as the sun goes down.

Awesome location in Monona, with hot tub!

Great location in Monona! Walking distance (1-3 blocks) to 3 play grounds, library and outdoor community pool. Private home with large driveway, private big backyard/deck, 3 bedrooms and a double futon in basement rec room. Third bedroom is in basement. High table seats 4. Kitchen table seats 4-6. This is our primary residence. We have some things here all the time and clear spaces to make your stay comfortable. We love to travel and often open up our home to guests when we do.
