Kristen was a fantastic host! I booked a year in advance, and she was very helpful from start to finish. The stay was perfect for our out-of-town guest! Location, cleanliness and great communication was top notch!

My family and I loved this air bnb! It was private, clean and had everything that we needed. Loved the fire pit and the hot tub, beds were comfy and towels were soft. Great communication with the owners. If you are looking for a nice get away with lots of privacy and to be able to relax this place is it! If we are ever in the area again would love to stay in this beautiful cabin in the woods.

What a gorgeous setting for a restful retreat. All of the necessary extra items such as snacks and handy items were in place for us and Jaclyn was a responsive host. The beds were nice and comfortable and we felt right at home. We will book again!

A beautiful cabin, well updated, and well located. Loved that Maybelle’s is just a stone’s throw while at the same time you are nestled in the woods to getaway. Beds were super comfy, and creature comforts were available. Made for an excellent blend of rustic look/location while having new conveyances. The cabin is a perfect place to stay for a getaway. It’s private, beautiful, and comfortable. It has all of the things you need. We had a wonderful time here and will definitely be back!

We had a great stay celebrating our 10 year anniversary and also a birthday. The house has everything you could need and we loved cooking on the grill and loved that the kitchen was stocked with all the essentials. The house is the perfect layout for kids and dogs as well and the hot tub felt amazing after we hiked Crabtree Falls. The proximity to town and the local pie shop was perfect. We would definitely recommend to friends and family and would love to come stay again.

We enjoyed our stay! It was nice & quiet, listening nature on the porch and using the hot tub was a couple of our favorites.

We were in Farmville for our daughter's graduation from Longwood! It was a perfect place for us, with lots of room. We will be reaching out again when our youngest daughter graduates too! Would definitely recommend!!

Words cannot describe the feeling of pure calm that comes over you when you arrive. This place is truly a treasure hidden in the woods. Once you cross the creek you leave the world and all your cares behind. The host pays attention to all the little details and it shows. We have stayed at quite a few places but this one is on our return list. We look forward to sliding up for a long weekend in the late fall or early winter. (Tip- be sure to spend 15 min reading the welcome package it is time well spent).

The cabin is rustic. It's set on top of a hill in an opening in the woods on an active sheep farm. The views from the farm are stunning. It couldn't be any more private and any more beautiful. The front porch was ideal for enjoying a cup of morning tea. The bedroom comfortably fits two people. The loft is spacious and fits 1-2 people. Sarah was a very responsive, kind, and accommodating hostess. She welcomed us with some of her own farm fresh eggs, tasty homemade blueberry muffins, juice, creamer, and coffee. The cabin is located 10-12 minutes from downtown Lexington. The bathroom could be more private, but I would definitely rent the cabin again and Sarah was fantastic.

We stayed here for a wedding in Charlottesville and, while the cabin was a bit out of the way from where most guests were staying in town, it ended up being the best decision we made. Our group was too large for hotel rooms, and this cabin gave us the perfect place to spread out and relax. We honestly wished we had more time to enjoy the space itself—it's ideal for a peaceful getaway weekend. Unfortunately, wedding events kept us running around, but we could easily see ourselves coming back just to unwind and take it all in. The property offers plenty to do, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. A couple of small suggestions that would’ve helped us (specifically as guests getting ready for a wedding): a full-length mirror in the downstairs bathroom and some brighter lighting in the bathrooms for hair and makeup. That said, these things wouldn’t be an issue for a regular weekend trip. Overall, a charming cabin that we hope to return to when we can truly enjoy it!

We loved the large deck with incredible views! There is another property very close to this one so wasn’t as secluded as we had hoped but overall we loved our stay here. Go check out Eagle Zen Winery if you have the chance.

If your looking for a peaceful location with beautiful views and the feeling of home this is the place to go! Rebecca was excellent communicator and very descriptive in her instruction manual. Everything you needed to know was right there. Rebecca goes the extra mile to make sure you have what you would normally need at home. The cabin itself was clean and cozy. The record and selection are awesome and we finished two puzzles while there. Atari was a huge hit! The creek in the backyard was our favorite feature, we even saw an eastern box turtle. All in all it was fantastic and we will definitely be back again.

This place is truly a rare find. The house is immaculately kept and is situated on a waterfall and nestled in the woods. It was perfect. Rhonda thought of everything and was so thoughtful and kind. We will be back!!

The cabin was adorable and very close to some great hiking trails. It was very convenient having the general store so close. I really appreciate being able to bring my dog! I hope to stay at The Chimneys again. Thanks for everything!

A wonderful retreat with amazing surroundings to experience ✨

Stephanie's little cottage was just as pictured. The bed was very comfortable as was the furnishings. We took advantage of the well stocked kitchen making about half our meals in house. We enjoyed sitting out in the screened porch both in the mornings and evenings. There was ample parking for our truck, small motorcycle trailer, and two bikes. It might not be the easiest to find but it is very quiet and peaceful once there. Groceries and restaurants are conveniently close by but the cottage has the feeling of being away from it all. We saw two friendly woodchucks almost everyday and two deer bedded down in the yard right outside our door. We rode the Blue Ridge parkway, which is accessed about 15mi from the cottage, at the James River. Heading south we climbed to the Peaks of Otter topping out at 3950ft. Heading north we made it to Whetstone Bridge before turning around. We found Stephanie's little cottage to be the perfect place to stay while exploring the area.

If you’re looking for a peaceful spot on the river, punctuated by an occasional train whistle (across the river), this is it! Bryan and Wanda made sure we had what we needed and were very kind. The cabin is low on frills but we expected that. Access to the river is very easy and our son enjoyed several afternoon floats. Paddlemore was terrific for a weekend stay.

What a beautiful view of the Tye River from our porch! We wanted to experience a mountain snow weekend and that’s exactly what we got. Jerry was also able to accommodate an early check in so we were not driving in inclement weather.

We loved everything about our stay! Sarah and Doug have a beautiful home, in a beautiful setting. They are very responsive and helpful. We honestly lacked for nothing, the home is beautifully, comfortably, and fully appointed. We enjoyed the beautiful and peaceful surroundings sitting on the deck and especially enjoyed the fire pit in a screened porch. I would love to go back and I highly recommend staying at Sarah and Doug’s place! A+++

WOW! This was the nicest place we’ve ever stayed, it’s better than the pictures. It’s so secluded and peaceful, we felt like we were in our own world. The pictures also don’t show the various amenities around the property!! We enjoyed sitting in the sun by the peaceful ponds and enjoying the mountain views :) so amazing!!

Our son got married at Whistle Hollow Farm in Fairfield. We were very fortunate to find this lovely home in Vesuvius only 15 minutes from the venue. This home was absolutely perfect. The owner’s thought of everything. We absolutely loved our stay here. We highly recommend it if you’re looking for a top notch place in the area. You will not be disappointed! We even booked the rehearsal dinner 1 mile up the street at Gertie’s. Great food and staff, must go! Thank you Mountain Escape for an enjoyable stay. Fred & Melissa
