Pet-friendly holiday rentals in Canaan Valley

From the moment we walked into the house, we were in love. The house is set in a private, wooded cul-de-sac and easy to find with the directions provided. The inside is open and spacious but still somehow cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed and all of the best quality. The town of Davis is a short drive away with some delicious little places to check out for meals. We also stopped by Blackwater Falls State Park, just a few minutes past the downtown area. Would definitely recommend this gem if you are planning a stay in the area!

We loved staying at Mammy’s Memories so much we can back a second time. Very cozy well equipped house for cooking and recharging after long hikes with our dogs at Dolly Sods and Seneca Rocks. Hope to be back again next year!

We had a little problem! Not her fault! Had a storm and the electric went off. Sherry came right over with lights and was very helpful’ the kids enjoyed no electric for awhile and practiced chess! She has lots of games! We went for the Blue snd z gray Reunion! Great!

Alison’s house was beautiful. The house was located right on the river. We enjoyed the wall to ceiling sliding glass doors overlooking the river and sitting on the deck watching the water. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience staying there. Alison was extremely responsive with any questions we had and was at the house to replaced the propane tank for the grill literally within minutes of my messaging her. You couldn’t ask for a better host. The house was equipped with everything needed for our stay.

Definitely strongly considering coming back. Dolly Sods nearby is great. House is at end of road, very private, beautiful stars, wonderful wind/rain/snow in the trees. Exceptionally spacious. Hot tub is great. Hot water heater broke while we were there and she gave us a discount without asking. Fusball table is a plus. Recommend.

Everything was great! A cozy, safe place to stay in a beautiful area. We have stayed at this rental more than once and likely will again in the future.

This unit is on the western end of a series of duplexes named Senedo Springs. The gravel roads up here are very walkable. It’s possible to trek down to Lake Laura although it’s a big vertical climb back up. The unit is airy and nice, better than the pictures. Thankfully there is not actually a murphy bed in the living room as shown in the pictures. The blankets are outdated so I recommend bringing your own. Plenty of cookware and dishes available but you’ll need to bring oil, spices, and all other food items. The amenities are great! It’s also nice they provide firewood just a short walk away. Good view of Great North Mountain in the winter. Amazing night sky from this location. This was our second time staying here and it kept its five-star rating!

My wife and I needed a trip away from the city for the long holiday weekend where we could enjoy some good activity in peaceful surroundings with our dog. This cozy pedestal cabin in Black Bear Resort was just what we were looking for. Check in was easy by picking up the keys at the resort lodge. The place had everything we needed to a cook a couple nights for ourselves, including the gas grill on the deck. The wall-mounted 4K flatscreen TV with Roku let us relax after three active days out and about in Canaan Valley while we listened to the thunderstorms roll over the mountains each evening. This would certainly be a fine place for folks (especially with kids -- there were two sets of bunk beds in the loft) to use a base for their WV adventures any time of year!

Great place super close to Timberline, Canaan Valley and Whitegrass. Home is clean and comfortable, with a well appointed kitchen and lots of games and entertainment for bad weather.

Staying at Megan and Abby’s cabin was such an amazing experience. The place was impeccably clean and looked exactly as the pictures described it. Megan responded quickly and kindly when I asked about a door that needed to be unlocked. The Bear Lair Cabin stay will live my best memories.

When our plans shifted a little bit, Cameron was so helpful as we figured out how to adapt our plans. We appreciated it so much. The cabin is delightful and the view is stunning. We loved the coziness, the jacuzzi, and the beautiful deck overlooking the mountains and the wetlands that make Canaan so unique. Absolutely wonderful stay.

This was second time staying in Millstone Cottage when visiting Alpine Lake. It’s a cozy place, located near Club House, and perfect for a couple. Did not use kayak as we did last trip due to unseasonably cool weather. Hiked the Overlook Trail, which goes up the hill behind cottage to Gazebo at top of old ski run for a great view of lake. We came away relaxed and refreshed, and that’s what a weekend retreat is all about.

This is the perfect place to get away. Madeline was fantastic about messaging us and letting us know what to expect, things to do, and info about the house. She also is one of the most thoughtful host we’ve encountered. The space was perfect for what we were looking for. Comfortable bed, stocked with essentials, looked just like the photos, and had some extras we were not expecting. The road to the cabin is steep and unpacked, but Madeline let us know about before we arrived so we knew what to expect. We were so grateful that we could bring the dogs with us. The location is perfect if you want a quiet getaway. It was about an hour away from Luray and the Shenandoah NP entrances.

My wife and I decided to do a four day weekend trip without the kiddos and wanted to try a new place that was beautiful and peaceful. Joylynn's place was exactly what we wanted. We got to unwind and just enjoy each other's company, soak in the hot tub, go exploring in the area, and I even got some fishing in at Lake Laura. We'd definitely want to come back again.

We loved this cabin! It’s very private, the beds were comfy, the hot tub was wonderful, and we loved being able to use the fire pit at night. The host was very kind, responsive and gave us great recommendations for local places to check out. Thank you so much for making this a great girls trip!

The home was perfect for a family getaway! The views were amazing and my older kids could not get enough of the hot tub! Check-In was a breeze thanks to the keypad. Matt and Nancy were quick to respond to our questions. There was so much to do within a few minutes drive, checking out the towns of Davis and Thomas, enjoying beautiful hikes through nature. I was so thrilled to finally be staying in a rental home that was quaint but not cluttered, had enough hooks, pots, coffee maker and Keurig, and knives that were actually sharp. The home was well equipped with a pack and play for our little one and board games for the adults. There were some spices but I think the cleaning crew clears out any condiments in the fridge. So, you really have to bring everything you'll need for cooking. We didn't use it but there were waffle makers and a sandwich press. The road the house is on is easy to miss because of a little dip in the road so keep an eye out! My kids are already asking to go back!

Otter's Den is quiet, scenic, and relaxing. A large, comfortable house surrounded by forest with no neighbors in sight. Nicely equipped kitchen plus a large back deck for grilling and basking in the pristine hot tub. My wife and I especially enjoyed coffee in the rocking chairs on the covered front porch one quiet, rainy morning, listening to birdcalls and the nearby babbling stream. There is plenty to do in the area year-round -- lovely hikes in Dolly Sods wilderness and in 2 nearby state parks, one with a spectacular heated outdoor pool and a nice golf course. And winter sports abound with 2 downhill ski resorts and several cross-country trails within minutes. We haven't found a better way to get away -- we will definitely be back.

Another stellar visit! We always look forward to staying at the cabin. The hosts are top notch and totally friendly. We’re looking forward to planning our next visit!

Merry Jo's place was a beautiful, clean and comfortable mountain home with stunning views. It is extremely private and peaceful (I think we saw one vehicle during our stay), and a great place to relax, meditate, and refresh. True escape! We saw deer daily and enjoyed the hiking nearby. It is close to restaurants (Davis, WVa) but the kitchen was well-stocked and we did cook out a few times. Merry Jo is a wonderful host, and she is quick to answer all of our questions, etc. We highly recommend and hope to visit again in the near future.

The place is clean, comfortable, and feels secluded. Check in was straight forward even with a gate house involved. Overall solid, nothing bad to say, my group and I enjoyed our stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful mountain-top house! The breathtaking views of the lush green valley and serene lake create a perfect nature retreat. The house is well-maintained, fully furnished, and equipped with all essentials, offering a very comfortable stay. One of the highlights was the close interaction with wildlife — we spotted deer, wild turkeys, and a variety of beautiful bird species right from the property, which made the experience even more special. The hot tub and outdoor fire pit were fantastic for relaxing evenings. The host (Grace) was super nice and very responsive to all our queries. Highly recommended, especially before the peak summer heat, as the house currently doesn't have air-conditioning. Adding AC would make this place absolutely perfect, but even without it, it’s a gem. We’d love to visit again!
