The house was amazing as well as the surrounding area. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking in the luray area. Close to everything luray has to offer . The house was spotless and fully stocked with everything we needed for our stay. we will most definitely be back

This house is a gem! The location allows for privacy and great hikes while still being close enough to Luray and Sperryville for restaurants and activities. I’d absolutely return. The house was clean and as advertised. The hosts were very responsive! The creek on the property was such a lovely feature. The only note I’d like to make is the area must have had a lot of rain right before our visit. To access the house, you drive over a very small concrete bridge over the creek. When we arrived the water was over the bridge, and probably 5 or so inches at its deepest. We had a sedan and weren’t comfortable driving over. Jerry quickly gave us alternate directions, so all in all in worked out and provided some excitement :). But if there’s been a lot of rain and you have a low car, be aware!

Wonderfully appointed cabin almost in the woods. Great balance of privacy and accessibility to area amenities and services. Appalachian trail, historic Gettysburg, Amish farm stands/dairies/sawmills all within a <30 min drive. Great outdoor firepit, chiminea and camp stoves under strings of lights. Indoor kitchen fully functional for indoor cooking. Jessica obviously put love and care into this great space. Used it as a couples getaway, but the loft is good for 2 sleepers if you are a family. On my list of places to revisit.

We loved our stay at Ohiopyle! Obviously the backyard and hot tub were the highlight of the home, and we took full advantage. We had a super chilly Memorial Day weekend, so it made good for hot tub weather. The cottage had close neighbors, but it still seemed private. The rooms were clean and the cottage was very cozy! We would definitely stay again.

A quirky and fun experience. James home gives you an updated kitchen and bathroom with a quaint old house feel. The beds are comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings and the short walk to town. The driveway was steep and we appreciated the ability to park in the lower spot also available. The little details like a HDMI in a basket and all the cleaning supplies was great. Having three small bedrooms for our group at this price was perfect.

we loved the forethought they had for the needs of their guests. and a lot of times it was the 'little things' that had the greatest impact...the 'unnecessary' touches which made things so comfortable (ample hooks/cubbies/drawers, hot tub towels, plug-in nightlight/flashlights in every room, binoculars, great games, and more!). probably the best part of the experience was knowing they trusted & respected you as guests. there was almost a case of toilet paper & paper towels in the pantry, a full bottle of laundry detergent, tub of dishwasher pods, full pack of sponges, full bottles (NOT attached to a wall!) of shampoo/conditioner/body wash, etc. - and they weren't afraid you were going to take it all home w you! there was NO angst. just a wonderful experience. our final favorite part is that we were able to purchase the great "mountain mama" coffee mugs we enjoyed using during our stay. a great souvenir to have for such a memorable trip...

Amazing, immaculate property, peaceful setting, thoughtful hosts! The mountain cottage exceeded our expectations. The home looks exactly like the photos and has all of the amenities. No surprises, no builders grade junky stuff - granite countertops, new appliances, upgraded cabinetry with soft close drawers, large tiled shower with built in bench seat, lighted closets, working blinds, no step access into and through out the home. You walk in to find a welcome basket of water and snacks with a card from hosts. There are books for appliances if needed and a book that provides needed information and options for dining and recreation. Feels private! We had beautiful bird song in the mornings, saw a deer at the end of the driveway and many deer on the roads to the cottage. There is a fishing pond within a half mile and the North fork of the Shenandoah is close by. We enjoyed the peace, nature, cruising Skyline Drive and time with our family. Beautiful old farmhouse overlooking the vineyard. Only a couple minutes walk to the Muse Winery. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The power was out for a few hours the morning of our last day without communication until after it was back on. I'm assuming there is an electric well pump since water pressure dropped significantly during that time.

The Hideaway Cottage – Where Even Your Cell Signal Gets Lost Tucked away between mountains we thought our gps was gas lighting us when it was saying “turn left” into a tree? I’m kidding it’s not that hard to find , the host provided very clear directions. Recommend arriving before nightfall. We drive a 25 foot sprinter and tow a trailer and crossing the bridge into the property is not for the faint of heart. But once there, you’ll love the privacy of this cottage and the comforting thought that no one can find you. Privacy? Check. Solitude? Double check. Wi-Fi? Absolutely not—thank God. If you’re looking to disconnect from the world, your inbox, and your mother-in-law’s group texts, this is your sanctuary. Our top highlight beyond the beauty of this property is seeing our dogs run unhinged, ears flopping drunk on freedom. Just the river, birds and the occasional panicked “ wait where did the dogs go?!” We loved it and will be back

Cozy, adorable little cottage close to downtown! It has everything you need for a short or long stay, and plenty of room for a doggo. Amazing shower and cozy bed! Only ‘complaint,’ which is not even one, is that it got chilly inside at night and the heater was a bit difficult to use to raise the heat. Overall a wonderful weekend stay!

What a great place for our family to stay during W&L Graduation week! The location is beautiful and just a few minutes from downtown Lexington! We loved being right next to the tasting room to just walk over and grab a few of bottles of wine! I loved that my dogs were able to be a part of our mini-vacay. The gated back area was so convenient and perfect for our pups. I would recommend getting there during the daylight. The gravel road to the guest house is dark. Overall an amazing stay!

We have stayed at this home many times because- a.) They have a fenced-in backyard so it is nice to be able to let out our dogs without worrying about them running away and b.) we love hiking at Lost River State Park which is just a short 12 minute ride to from the house, and c. It is a beautiful quaint home- very peaceful and has all the amenities we need.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The house was so cozy and had everything in it we could think of. It was so nice to be able to take our fur baby.I would definitely go back there again.

Beautiful and relaxing stay. Located so close to deep creek state park and swallow falls state park. Had such a relaxing time with my boyfriend and our shepherd!

With its large picture windows and lovely stone porch, this home is the perfect place for relaxing and enjoying the views down to Goose Creek and the meadow below. We enjoyed watching the geese, groundhogs, herons, and deer and at night hearing the frogs. This is a perfect getaway for anyone looking for peace, privacy, and a natural setting. And for those who like fine dining, shopping, and historical/cultural venues, the town of Middleburg is a seven minute drive away.

our stay was perfect in every way. love the home & it's outdoor space . we are big into the great outdoors & so location was great for us . very accommodating. would definitely stay again!

We had a great time. The cottage is lovely, very well decorated, comfortable, it felt like home. We enjoyed the deck and the bonfire by the water. We would have loved to use the kayak and canoe but the weather was not amenable to it unfortunately. Julie was proactive and shared detailed instructions and local recommendations. She was responsive when I asked questions ahead of our arrival. I would totally recommend for a couple or family and would definitely come back.

We truly enjoyed our stay at The Getaway Cottage, and Zeb was kind, friendly, and easy to work with. The location is really hard to beat, because it's very close to Shepherdstown and Sharpsburg, yet it offers peace & privacy when you want to just unwind at the end of the day. If you're looking for a quiet and comfortable place to enjoy the area, I highly recommend this one. And, I will definitely be making return trips.

This is our second time staying at Tranquil cottage. It's a beautiful, clean, and comfortable place to stay close to Charlottesville and feels like home. We love the peaceful atmosphere and all the animal friends. And Cynthia is a great host. We'll definitely be back again.

I did get to meet Eugene while he was working in the yard. Very nice man. The lodging was perfect. The surrounding view was serene and perfect for our stay. I was on the road for 28 days with 27 different places we stayed and this was definitely in one of our top 5. When and if I ever make it back to the Getteysburg area I will definitely look this place up again. We both were very happy with everything. Thank you Eugene.

We had an incredible stay at Julie’s place! Everything was spotless and perfectly maintained—the cleanliness truly stood out. The home was spacious, beautifully updated, and had every amenity we could’ve hoped for. We especially appreciated the covered parking for both our vehicles, the peaceful yard, grill, and fire pit—it made for some perfect evenings. Plus, the location was super convenient for exploring Shenandoah National Park. Julie was a thoughtful and responsive host. We’d absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
