Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Athens County

My partner and I had a lovely time—we really enjoyed the space! It was so nice to get away and just focus on enjoying each other’s company. The whole experience was wonderful, and I especially loved the cozy cabin feel. Chad was incredibly helpful and very friendly, which made everything even better. Just a couple of small things to note: the toilet is a compost toilet, which took a minute to get used to—not a bad thing at all, just different. Also, the freezer was stocked with frozen meat, and we had brought our own frozen meals without checking first. It didn’t leave us much room to put stuff in there but It wasn’t a big deal though—we just ate ours frozen stuff first. All in all, I’ll 100% be back and absolutely recommend this place!

Our family (2 adults, 2 children) really enjoyed Amanda’s house. We especially enjoyed the covered patio and our children loved brining their toys outside. We were surprised how fast cars were driving on this road, but that has nothing to do with Amanda’s home - it just caught us off guard. We loved the added touches of coffee/tea, snacks, personal care products. It felt like we were at home.

If you are traveling to this area, Daniel has a great place to stay it is quite comfortable and looks just like the pictures we have stayed several times and always been great. I would recommend his place for anyone Rich Strongsville Oh

Kaitlyn’s place was a great weekend getaway for a big group of my friends. When we think of going back down to Athens, we will definitely look for this stay again!

Only stayed 1 night traveling thru but Airbnb was great. Very cozy, definitely felt like home.

Jane and Mike ensured that the house was pristine and clean prior to our arrival! They were very communicative and made sure that they were there to greet us and check if we needed anything. Everything is clearly labeled with easy instructions and many recommendations for local places as well as activities to do on the property! It was an easy 15 minute trip to the OU campus! I highly recommend this house!

The house is beautiful- high ceilings, natural woodwork … really a beautiful example of rural Italianate. Large workable kitchen… we did light snacks after Saturday’s performance at Stuart’s Opera House and made Mother’s Day Breakfast the next morning. There was a large selection of pots and pans but I would recommend if there is a specific type of pan you need that you ask beforehand. Refrigerator is large and newer… plenty of space for drinks, snacks, dinner ingredients, etc. I did not notice an ice maker but there was a upopened bag of ice in freezer. There are dollar stores nearby and larger big box stores in Logan or Athens if you need something after you arrive. Mattresses were comfortable and the upstairs windows have room darkening shades. The driveway is a bit tight if you have a larger SUV but there is plenty of parking on the street if need be.

Overall, we really enjoyed the stay here. The hot tub worked amazingly and it was easy to use. The instructions and expectations were all laid out and nothing was overcomplicated. It really was a beautiful scenery and gorgeous interior. Perfect for “getting away from it all” to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.

Great place to stay, quick drive or walk to uptown Athens and the place was clean and well equipped. I didn't get to try dinner at the downstairs restaurant, but my partner and I did get some deserts there which were excellent. The restaurant was closed by 8:30 so there were no issues with noise.

We really enjoyed staying at Greg and Jana’s place. It was the perfect location by OU - we walked to campus and it was about 10-15 minutes away. The house was comfortable and exactly what we needed for two people. We will definitely stay again when visiting our daughter!

Cozy spot in quiet, small town Albany above a lively corner cafe. We stayed here for a month during the holidays to visit nearby family and enjoyed our stay. Gregg has added a ton of thoughtful touches (decor, comfy blankets/pillows, plenty of seating) that make for a nice area to hangout, large beds in both bedrooms and a well stocked kitchen for cooking. The apartment is on the second floor above a cafe at an intersection so there is some neighborly noise but it’s great for a coffee lovers waking up to the smell of freshly roasted and steps from the cafe. Gregg is extremely responsive and friendly for any/all requests and messages. We would definitely stay here again if we’re in the area and would recommend if you’re looking for a nice two bedroom stay near Athens

Great little apartment to stay in Athens! Had everything we needed to enjoy the weekend in town! Just 2 miles from uptown made it easy to get to and from.

Hosts Brenda and Deborah were extremely warm, welcoming, and flexible! We were on a short trip for a graduation at Ohio University, about 12 minutes away. Due to delayed flights and 1.5 hour drive from Columbus Airport, we didn't arrive until 10:30pm, and Deb was waiting on the porch to greet us and get us settled. Very much appreciated! Communication was great, including directions (by phone) re: the country roads in the dark. The space is large, as described and seen in photos, sort of a "basement apartment" in a gorgeous area, very peaceful. The place and hosts are down-to-earth, as we had hoped, making our stay lovely and enjoyable. 😊 Thank you!

As before, another great stay at Orchard Gables at the Zenner House! My daughter and I came down to OU for sibs weekend to visit our other daughter. The house had everything we needed and more. I’m sure we’ll be back!

Gretchen’s place was perfect for our family of three. It’s in a very peaceful location, while still being close to town and hiking. The apartment was clean and spacious and the kids books and toys were an added bonus for our little one. We would definitely stay here again!

Overall a great stay. Area was peaceful and the river overlook was beautiful. Checkin/checkout was pretty easy. Only downsides was the bathroom - 1.5ba for 10 people required some coordination!

The apartment was spacious, very clean, and had extra towels and blankets. Angie gave very clear instructions, was friendly, and super responsive on all communication.

The house is in the middle of Athens, Ohio, a significant college town, and its location in proximity to Ohio U is phenomenal. We've stayed here several times and always felt lucky to have such a well-appointed home that is walkable to most of campus and Court Street. Ashley is an excellent host and the house is clean and updated on both levels.

What a great place - super convenient to Ohio University and Uptown Athens. Five of us stayed comfortably, we enjoyed watching TV in the living room and playing games at the dining room table. We were Uptown in less than 5 minutes. We also loved the use of the garage.

We had an amazing stay at Ashleys! We were here to celebrate a graduation and it was the perfect stay. The place was spacious, clean, and very close to uptown. We will definitely be back, we loved it!
