The house was amazing. The amenities were an extra plus. Everything you needed and more. Everything was fabulous and we look forward toto staying there again.

Overall, the host is extraordinary receptive and reactive of a host - what you'd like for in an Airbnb host, especially with all the selection there. Location is can't beat, and the ease of everything also stood out. I didn't like the outdoor screen on the porch (it was molded and badly broken, surprising considering it wasn't caught previously). The host had it fixed brand new within 24H. I would say the unit is smaller that photographed (I was surprised, but it was comfortable for one person). Would be tight with two. You should also know it appears to be an addition onto the back of the garage (although the finishings are top notch). That just means there are two other units that you'll need to be aware of from a noise perspective. Private ish yard area by a quaint outdoor porch. Really appreciated the touch and proactive nature of the host. Made the 3-week stay in the end a 5-star stay despite early challenges. Well done.

Larry was incredibly responsive and kind! The house is tucked away from central kea'au and hilo, the neighborhood is very quiet. Parking is available. There are many roaming chickens around the property but that is just Hawai'i in general. The stay was very enjoyable :) the place is definitely cabin vibes but it was nice to retreat after the busy festival weekend.

Great experience staying here, felt like on Bali a bit considering the semi-open house architecture and a garden full of fruit trees. The house is large, spacious and we loved especially the outside part where we spent most of the time exercising in the morning, having meals, reading, taking photos of colourful birds passing by and in the night stargazing accompanied by a symphony of forest noises! Absolutely wonderful. We met also the owners and had a nice chat, learning about the best spots to visit in the area. last the local guide book we found on the table was extremely useful!!! All-in-all we had a great time here! Fully recommended!

Conveniently located in Hilo. Easy to find and access rental. Hosts were very fast in communication and very friendly. I would recommend this place if you are staying in Hilo.

If you’re looking for a relaxing place to stay, it’s here at Kapoho’s Paradise! - totally off-grid and hidden away! Great layout with 3 bedroom en suites downstairs with sliding doors to the outside/pool area. The living, dining, kitchen, half bath and large lanai overlooking the pool and beautiful landscaped yard complete the upstairs. Very spacious and comfortable!! Wayne’s a great host. We thought it was cool to stay in this Japanese style home. Kids loved it. Pool was not deep and fun to play in. Grounds are like a park. Unique place.

Very large 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 decks off the beaten path. Linens and robes were very soft, and slippers included. I appreciated the quintet of coffee brewing methods: French press, drip, percolator, and pour over.

Mike and Kim were very friendly and made us feel right at home. Although they live in the property, they respected our privacy. House was clean and had everything we needed for our 6 week stay. The pool was incredible, which our kids and us frequently enjoyed. It was hard to leave and hope to be back again.

This house definitely felt like a home. Beautiful inside and out. This home always had a nice breeze come through cooling it down all day. Peter was very responsive and I was able to talk a little with him over the phone. Very friendly and comfortable to speak with. My guest and I felt very safe with the main private entry remote gate and fenced in property. We definitely enjoyed the pool. Clean and water temperature was perfect for our sunny clear sky days. An off grid location in a peaceful and natural island setting with beautiful kitchen and bathroom. Only 10 minutes from either beautiful sites on the south coast or shops and provisions in Pahoa. Our boys loved the separate bunk building with two beds. Our group of five used alot of water but we only ran out one time. We let the host know and a refill was promptly ordered and waiting for us upon our return from the days activities. If you need communications, an AT&T network phone worked for us..(Pre-paid phones can be found at Walmart) Our group used alot of power, but the solar/battery system kept up well concidering. A group with reasonable power needs should have no problems with power availability. If you rely on a CPAP or simular device, a backup battery may be advisable to avoid interuption. Note that the nearby black sand beach is very beautiful but is a "Clothing Optional" beach. This place is at at the top of my list if I return to the east side of the Big Island.

Stayed in one of the bungalows for 3 days with my 11yr old. Off-grid made the stay extra special and allowed ample time for us to spend quality time together, discovering all the property has to offer. Robins communications throughout were quick. Loved listening to nighttime wildlife. Location is perfectly located between hot springs and black sand beach. Came here looking for property. This trip reaffirmed my choice. Love. Love. Love.

Beautiful location at what feels like the end of the world. We slept well and enjoyed both the sounds of nature and the beautiful and unique surroundings. While there are plenty of neighbors in the community, everyone seems to keep to themselves. It was extremely quiet and enjoyable. The firepit in the pictures is not operable, which we found out after booking and really the only downfall for an otherwise great stay. A rental vehicle is required to get there and we were grateful to have rented an SUV. Highly recommended as the roads are rock/gravel with some small hills and quite the drive, but the closest town is about 15 minutes and will have anything else you need. Bring drinking water! The pictures do the cabin justice; it is open air but well maintained, comfortable, and worth the stay. Overall very good experience!

Loved my stay at the gecko inn! Gets cool at night which is perfect for sleeping. Very comfortable and private area. 10/10 recommend! It’s minuets from the entrance of the national park

This incredible experience was a highlight of our trip to Hawaii. Do yourself a favor and book it if it is available. You will not be sorry!

The view! What an amazing location. We saw whales in the bay right outside our lanai a few mornings. The space worked perfectly for our group of 7 girlfriends. Plenty of beds and bathroom space. The home is quite old, but we loved the character and evident history. Everything was very clean and tidy and well stocked. Really nice updated kitchen was wonderful. We were close to everything we wanted to do and enjoyed relaxing at the house in the mornings and evenings while enjoying the view. Though right across from a public beach, the house felt quiet and safe. Richard’s recommends ahead of time were spot on and helpful in making plans in advance. Thank you for a fabulous stay! We’d love to return someday!
