The master bedroom was a 1-room schoolhouse from the 1890's to 1914, where "Miss Sallie" Young taught (after she retired from 54 years in Texas public schools). After many additions and updates, it's now a quiet part of a Church Camp property (which you're welcome to explore). Barndo on the Ridge is located in north Abilene not far from downtown and close to S. 1st. The Barndo sits at the top of a hill surrounded by pure west Texas country. Get away and enjoy the peace of the country, sip coffee on the porches and enjoy a beautiful sunrise and sunset. Many wildlife can be seen near the feeders, around the property and flying in the sky. Please note our parking can NOT accommodate big trailers or several large vehicles. Our home is on a busier street with VERY limited parking. No pets due to allergies.

The "Cottage" is a private one-bedroom, one-bathroom guest house with a full kitchen that overlooks the backyard pool. The house is situated on 40 acres outside the city limits of Abilene, Texas (Potosi to be exact.) When you arrive, you may see horses grazing out in the pasture, two loving Collies & the farm cat "Major." Simple, but beautiful and comfortable place to stay. You will be staying in one apartment of a duplex. We accept pets, but no cats due to our allergy, sorry!! Only 7 minutes away from downtown Abilene (by car), where you can find amazing cafes (Front Porch Cafe, Monk's cafe), and restaurants (Vagabond Pizza, The Local). There is also an air mattress that you can use for the 5th and 6th person. Thank you!!

We’re so grateful the host allowed us to celebrate my daughter’s 10th birthday here. It meant so much to find a place that welcomed a small gathering, most places don’t. The pool was perfect for the party, and we all had such a blast! The backyard was great, and the patio made it easy to relax and enjoy the day. Inside, the home was clean, cozy, and beautifully decorated. It felt super homey and peaceful, and the neighborhood was quiet too. We had a wonderful stay and wouldn’t change a thing!

Julie was an amazing and attentive hostess! Excellent place for extended stays and those just needing somewhere to sleep. Tiny traveler was spotless and cozy! The area felt safe and was secluded. Our only “complaint” was that the Hot water ran out fast and due to the small kitchen area it was sometimes difficult to cook without setting off an alarm or having enough space.

Juli was kind and quick to respond to our questions, and the check-in/check-out processes were a breeze. We'd definitely recommend this bungalow and would stay here again if we were in the area.
