Ryokan holiday rentals in Takayama

We had no trouble finding the hotel from the train. It was a walking distance and it was quite a lovely walk because you see all the different stores and restaurants. We arrived early so we rested in the lounge and then went shopping and had lunch. Finally, our room was ready and we were very impressed with the decor as well as a cleanliness. We especially loves the outdoor onsen which made you feel really relaxed as you listen to the birds. Our next night was with another Iori property so they transported our luggage to the next destination (so that we didn’t have to lug it around on the bus). Overall, we would be returned!

It was a pleasant time at the Otera Stay! We had our own complete bathroom, nice room with amazing view, and super warm while it was -4 outside. Totally worth it and very happy with the kindness of people there.

This is an amazing place to relax.

there were many things we were worried about as a group of 6 adults with 2 toddlers for a 3 night stay, but they were all put to rest once we were here. we were worried that hida was too sleepy vs takayama. after visiting both, hida felt more intimate with more locals, but still things to do and restaurants all walkable. we weren't sure about the parking, but we had a spot for our large van that was perfect. we were worried about there being 1 toilet and 1 shower, but they are independent and there is a separate mirror and sink as well so our group with 4 women still were able to get themselves together effectively. we were worried about the Japanese beds, but they were comfortable and even better than many European beds we have visited. lack of a couch and tv, but there is a room with floor seating around a table with a projector that our whole group enjoyed and spent a good amount of time in. Kohei made great restaurant recommendations too. kohei's place was our favorite segment!

The location was good, about 15-min drive to Hida Furukawa Station. There was a big supermarket (Sato supermarket) nearby where we could buy very cheap best beef and fish, and cooked them at the guest house’s kitchen for our dinner. There was a convenient store (Daily) located at the opposite of the house as well. The house has 2 shower rooms. This is the best thing for our big group. It was so clean and spacious with a warm atmosphere. We enjoyed stay here very much.

I would recommend this place any time! The breakfast was so lovely every morning. It was lovely to feed the carp in the morning and walk the quaint and peaceful town. The outdoor back was so nice, I even relaxed and listened to the rain one night while soaking. It was perfect. I’m so happy I stayed in Hida.

We ran out of time to enjoy the garden and the activities on offer. A real pleasure to get there. A hot bath. Magical!
