Cottage holiday rentals in South Lanarkshire

My favourite Air BnB i have stayed in so far. It is newly opened so everything is fresh and new, however it is on an existing bed and breakfast space which has a beautiful garden which is well maintained and the inn itself is well looked after, the leads me to believe even after it has been open for some time, Alan will keep the place well looked after. The host, Alan, was a lovely gentleman, you can tell he cares for his business and enjoys hosting, on arrival he gave us local recommendations for food and even the best way to travel in to Edinburgh. During our stay in the separate building to the inn we felt we had our own private space, the hot tub is located on the opposite side to the inn, so you are private to other guests in the separate building. 5/5 starts for everything! We had a wonderful experience at this Airbnb! The property was immaculate and exactly as described in the listing. The host was incredibly responsive and made the check-in process seamless. The location was perfect—close to local attractions yet nestled in a quiet neighbourhood, providing a peaceful retreat. All amenities were in excellent condition, and the thoughtful touches throughout the home made my stay even more comfortable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cosy and convenient stay.

A tranquil and peaceful stay in this spacious and well equipped cottage. We were well looked after by Jenny and co. and felt totally relaxed. Enjoyed our interactions with farm life, which included birthing a lamb, petting the donkies and seeing the newborn kittens, it made our stay very special. The house is well located for trips into Edinburgh and Glasgow, or to enjoy nearby countryside. You won't regret it!

Idiotic location close to amenities. The cottage was private and ideal for dogs. Fiona, met us on arrival and helped us unload the car. All that is described on the website is accurate and true. We had a great stay and look forward to the next time.

The location was ideal and allowed us to explore the local area. Michelle was extremely helpful and always responded swiftly to messages. The cottage was clean and comfortable with amazing views across the valley.

Lovely comfy cottage in a peaceful countryside location. Had everything we needed and looked just like the pictures. Beds were super comfy and the fenced in garden was great for our dog. Only about 10 minutes away from West Calder which is really convenient for getting the train in to Edinburgh. Would definitely book again.

We stayed at the Granary for the weekend and had such a lovely stay. So peaceful and a lovely view. Amazing surroundings. Enclosed garden perfect for dogs. And having the horses right next to the cottage was lovely. The cottage has loads of space and beds were really comfortable too. A little hamper on arrival including treats for the dogs was a lovely touch too. We would love to come back!

We had the most wonderful stay at Blackside Cottage and can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, it was clear how much care and attention Andrew and Elizabeth put into making the place welcoming, comfortable, and beautifully presented. The cottage itself is immaculate – stylishly decorated, cozy, and fully equipped with everything we needed. The kitchen was a real highlight – far better stocked than most places we’ve stayed – and the log-burning fire made our evenings incredibly relaxing. The setting is just magical. Peaceful, private, and surrounded by stunning countryside, it was the perfect place to switch off and unwind. The freestanding bath was a real luxury – perfect for a long soak after a day of exploring. Andrew and Elizabeth were brilliant hosts. Everything was smooth from booking to check-out. This place is a real gem!

The cottage was real find. Cosy, comfortable and in a great spot in a heritage village. ( Don't miss the trail) Julie was communicative at all times and even offered us a later checkout. Thankyou, we'll hopefully be back.

Our stay was fantastic and the communication was amazing. We had 2 children & a dog with us and the attention to detail for things we might need was impeccable 😊 All of the little extras - easter eggs and activity packs for the children as we stayed easter weekend, are what makes a place stand apart. The house is beautiful and lots of space. I can't speak highly enough of our experience. Will definitely be back 😀

Fantastic cottage in an amazing village. Everything about the cottage was as described. communication was brilliant and I would both highly recommend to others and happily stay here again.

The place is amazing .. surrounding is surreal. We had a great time. Major super markets / stores are 15 mins drive. But that is ok... we chose for it. We chose to be away from Edinburgh. This place is 35/40 mins beautiful drive from Edinburgh. The estate in which this place is situated is beautiful. The owner allowed us to roam around and explore. If you are countryside fan, you would love it.

We stayed 5 nights the end of May when all the flowering shrubs were in bloom. Its was truly a beautiful scene. We liked the quiet nature for walks on the property. We did some cycling trips from there also using the local train and cycle shop rental. The kitchen was great though we didn’t cook much. The local golf course had great food(vegan too) so we ate there several times. Everyone was so friendly in West Calder. We enjoyed a cosey fire one night. Nicola was very friendly, quick to respond for small stuff she rectified. I would love to return.

The cottage was absolutely stunning, quiet and peaceful. Had all the amenities we needed. Was clean and tidy. Lots of information in welcome pack for things to do around Scotland. Lovely neighbours and we loved hearing and seeing the local pheasant come for his breakfast every day. Red kites in the trees behind us. Just beautiful. Big shout out to the Colebrooke Inn up the road, food was amazing service was incredible and friendly. A true hidden gem.. We all thoroughly enjoyed it here and will no doubt be back. the whole process fro the booking to the checkout was smooth and easy. The actual accommodation was fantastic and beautifully clean. The added bonus of a welcome loaf of bread, milk and a selection of teas and coffees was fantastic as was the pack of cookies too. The representative, Caroline, was extremely helpful.

Really nice location, cottage was warm, comfortable and well equipped. Would highly recommend.
