Cottage holiday rentals in São Miguel Island

The accommodation was very good despite the ants that were very present. Despite this, we really liked the backyard and the jacuzzi. There is not really a large grocery store nearby so we had to plan more. But in general we liked it a lot and we enjoyed the magnificent view of the sunset every evening.

Ruben is an amazing host, with top recommendations and makes you feel welcome. He went above and beyond to welcome us with a gift basket (and took into account our dietary restrictions). Cottage is nice, with the hot tub and sauna in great working condition. Great way to unwind after a day of exploring / hiking

A Truly Charming Stay with Thoughtful Touches! Our group of four recently enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Green Sunrise House. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the prompt response and genuine care of the host, who even provided some lovely welcome gifts. The clear instructions for everything made settling in a breeze. The property itself is incredibly inviting. The decor, location are fantastic, making it feel like a cozy home. We particularly loved the well-stocked kitchen, which had everything we needed, and the ample supply of linen and towels was greatly appreciated. The music collection were a delightful bonus, providing entertainment and a relaxing atmosphere. We also thoroughly enjoyed spending evenings by both the indoor and outdoor fireplaces, which added so much to the experience. Only con was the one bathroom for four people did not have a lock inside and the hot tub (primary reason for booking thi place) took hours to prepare and couldnt use it properly!

I had an incredible 3 night stay at this property, the pictures do not show it off enough. The views are impecable, with a lot of nature around and the most comfortable grass..! I hope you visit again, thank you

The stay with José was magical and cozy. The Cottage by the lake has a fantastic view of Lake Furnas. In short (car) distance to the village of Furnas, there are plenty of shopping opportunities for the necessities and everywhere insanely beautiful nature and a lot of relaxing things to discover. The accommodation has everything it needs - including good heating in cold weather. Only the cars are slightly audible in the bedroom when they sometimes drive through at night. However, we did not find it disturbing. Otherwise, rest and relaxation are the order of the day. Everything is well described, the instructions for check-in and check-out are simple and clear. Communication with José was very friendly, reliable and fast. We highly recommend this gem in the middle of this dream island. Happy to come back :) merci for everything, José!

Beautiful surroundings. Family welcomed us when we reached and explained everything. Joao had bread, eggs, cheese, jam plus more for brunch to welcome us - more than enough for family of 4. The highlight is the location of the home. It is on a farm. Beautiful view of ocean from the house, the garden and surroundings are peaceful and relaxing. Close to highway so we could get to places easily (we rented a car). I couldn’t figure out best way to communicate during our stay. So recommend getting contact information (the number I got didn’t work). As everything was explained upfront and nothing urgent came up during the stay, we were ok without communication. Highly recommend this home.

Casa do Rei was easy to find, had easy check in, and well located in walking distance to city center and fumaroles. The home is loved and taken care of. There is unique and detailed decor in every corner. The porch views are amazing as shown in pictures and we enjoyed the stay greatly.

Exactly as pictured, about 15 Minutes’ drive from Ponta Delgada airport. Although we were traveling with an 8 month old, we did not request any special accommodation. However, they set up a travel crib, had a high chair and baby bathtub when we arrived which was so thoughtful! Location is perfect in the middle of the island so you can easily get to all main attractions. Highly recommend for traveling families - plenty of indoor/outdoor space.

This was truly a unique stay! It was such a peaceful experience being alone in the park in the morning/night. The place looked exactly as the photos and the local snacks were a lovely welcome at check in. Highly recommend staying here!

Our stay was so relaxing with the beautiful grounds and views of the city and the sea. As you drive through the gate and down the long driveway and see the property for the first time, you are sent back in time by its old world charm. The pink stucco house sits on a hill with stunning views. The house was a little tricky for us to find, as the address on airbnb did not take us to the house, but we figured it out and it was smooth sailing from there. The location was very convenient to Ponta Delgada, tourist attractions, and other smaller towns. The house felt like living in a castle with modern conveniences and 5 full bathrooms, which was very nice for 8 guests. Our hosts were there to greet my friends, who arrived first, and gave them all the instructions for the house. There is a working farm on the property, as described. If you do not like the sound of donkeys braying, frogs croaking, or the faint odor of a farm, then this house is not for you. We loved it all!!

Simply the BEST! Max's house was absolute perfection for our group of 6 friends (3 couples). With a week on São Miguel, this beautifully quiet, coastal home was our ideal base. We all had our own wonderful personal space, while the living and dining areas easily accommodated us all. Mornings began with leisurely breakfasts on the veranda (and occasional dolphin spottings!), nights were spent in comfortable beds serenaded by the sea. We enjoyed cooking big meals in the well-equipped galley kitchen and exploring local restaurants. Max was a stellar host, no, actually the BEST host – leaving fresh fruit, bread, and wine, helping with local dining and sightseeing suggestions. Parking for two cars was ample, the pool is lovely and the nearby black sand beach was a rugged, stunning walk. We really could not have asked for anything more, it was perfection! 😊

Ricardo was a great host, he met us and walked us through the house as well as gave us local recommendations. It was a beautiful place to stay, surroundings were beautiful as well as the Airbnb itself.

We had a fantastic time at Casa Mediana. It is so quiet and peaceful, though located centrally so gives good access to the rest of São Miguel. Though rural and a long way from any neighbours, it is only a 10 minute drive into the town of Ribeira Grande, which has beaches, supermercado, restaurants etc. The house is spacious, comfortable, well equipped and has a nice terrace for relaxing and watching the view. Also, we have to mention the animals! Dogs, cats, donkeys, chickens and more! All very friendly and welcoming and really enhancing the experience. Luis is a great host, friendly and helpful. Recommended for anyone looking for a quiet, off-the-beaten-track experience.

We had a wonderful stay at Alexandra’s place. The house is comfortable with lots of interesting art, the kitchen has all the essentials for cooking (oil, salt etc) and the shower was great. We were provided with separate towels to use after we’d bathed in the (rather orange!) thermal pools in Furnas which we really appreciated. We spent 2 and a half days wandering around Furnas: there’s lots to do and plenty of good restaurants (we’re vegan and we ate very well) and the people are so friendly. This was also a great base for exploring the whole island - the roads are excellent so it’s easy to get from one end to another fast. I very much hope we’ll be back!

Incredible stay! Joana’s place is just as pictured, but the pictures don’t capture the beauty and tranquility of her home. The house is tucked back in a hill with an ocean view. Easy to find with the GPS. Parking across the street with 4 children in tow, we were mindful of the road, but there was never an issue. We found it to be a convenient home base for our trip. Joana was very easy to communicate with. Check in and check out instructions were clear and easy to follow. Our kids loved exploring the grounds and being surrounded by nature. Home is well equipped to cook and relax. Bonus has a washer and dryer which was needed after adventuring through the island. If we are ever lucky enough to come back to the green island we would stay here again.

The accommodation was the best equipped we have ever had through Airbnb. So many kitchen utensils, plates, cutlery, glasses, pots, pans. A large kitchen with a new stove and oven and fridge. Great for cooking. All the rooms are beautifully furnished. The terraces are beautiful for lying or eating on. The location right by the sea is wonderful. It is only a few minutes to the sunset hot spots. The insider tip Tunel Hydraulico is only 7 minutes by car. The accommodation La Maisonette is definitely recommended!

Very good home, not a prepared air b&b like the new ones. The area is excellent, with the advantage of access to the lagoa do fogo which is normally inaccessible by car… great views of the sunset… hot water could be improved, as it tends to vary in temperature…

As an editor for a residential and architecture magazine, I have seen many holiday homes. Mario's house is the kind you fall in love with right away. The renovation is very carefully done, and the decor looks modern, but at the same time warm and inviting. Three separate residential units offer enough privacy, even if you share the house with other guests - which did not bother us at all. The amenities are great, and the pool and the view are simply fantastic. I can well imagine that other travelers who value style and comfort will also love this house. All in all: worth a trip!

The villa is absolutely perfect! A traditional home with a full and well stocked kitchen and amazing backyard. Plenty of restaurants/cafes in walking distance. We personally loved Queijadas do Morgado the most! There is also easy access to the highway to get around the island quickly. Duarte was very friendly and quick to respond and an excellent host. Highly recommend spending your time in the Azores here!
