Family-friendly holiday rentals in São João da Madeira

We arrived and in felt like home. My daughter's loved the special cake that Marta left for us upon arrival. The house is well equipped with everything you need and more. The bathtub was a favorite, and the balcony was a wonderful place to relax and people watch. The beach is only steps away, along with places to grab a snack. We used the bikes for a fun ride and my daughter loved the game room area to read and do crafts. Something for everyone in a picture perfect location. The entire home was impeccable. Thank you Marta for your warm hospitality and attention to detail.

The house is spacious, beautiful, well decorated and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The garden is very pleasant and provided some good evenings playing cards with the family. The location is quiet, but close to beautiful areas to visit (if you are by car). An excellent choice for a few days of rest, with the beauty of the green and the river.

Very peaceful and quiet , enjoy the landscape and vineyards, lovely holiday. The hosts are very kind and friendly people, will definitely come back if in the area☺️

the accommodation is very well furnished, everything is well thought out, Netflix, bread in the morning, kitchen essentials, and jacuzzi very appreciated after a day of hiking. Beautiful pool with deckchairs for relaxing. i would go back again

The apartment is spacious and comfortable, accommodating three couples with ease. The location is a peaceful coastal suburb a short taxi ride from the centre of Porto, and the extensive balcony provides stunning views of the ocean, particularly at sunset. It is the perfect place to return to after a busy day sightseeing in the city. The taxi journey is quick and easy, and we were able to enjoy the many attractions of this beautiful city, alongside the more relaxing atmosphere of the many bars within walking distance of the apartment. The apartment is perfect for a group of friends to experience Porto.

Mr. Carlos received us very well! Super friendly, showed the whole area along with the activities included in the stay! We also get to know local restaurants as well as activities to be carried out in the area! We love and plan to return in a short time!

Abi and Regina are exceptional hosts who made our stay memorable. We especially enjoyed the tour of the animation museum by Abi which was fascinating The property is very lovely, the flower and vegetable gardens are incredible and the whole ambience is very relaxing. A perfect place to stay for several days. We thoroughly recommend staying here and look forward to returning

We had a wonderful stay at the Manor House in Porto! The highlight was definitely the terrace — we spent every evening out there enjoying the stunning views across the river. It was the perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring the city. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a scenic and peaceful stay in Porto.

Amazing property and view. We had a terrific time. The property worked great for our group. Best sunset! Marco and his crew were extremely responsive. Driving in the Douro Valley is not for the faint of heart. We had a ball!

Just got back from staying 4 days in this wonderful apartment. Everything was as describe. Close to all the amenities that Porto has to offer. I would 100% recommend this apartment to anyone thinking of a trip to Porto.

The house was exactly like the photographs. From the moment of booking to check-out, D. Adelaide was an excellent host, always available and attentive. The amenities were very comfortable and every corner of the house surprised us with positive details, thought out in detail to ensure the well-being and comfort of all. The reception by D. Gloria was extremely friendly and welcoming, and the welcome cake... was simply divine! Without a doubt, an experience to repeat.

Amazing location, lots of space, bathroom for each room. Check in is fully remote. We arrived a few minutes early so needed to coordinate with the support through WApp to get in a few minutes before our check in time. Theoretically fully keyless, but they recommended keeping keys because the outer door can be deadbolted by other residents (though we didn’t run into this). Two sets of keys.

Luis’ place was excellent! There is a little park area with many great restaurants just around the corner. Luis offered many helpful recommendations. The place was spotless and had a great little balcony to sit out on. It’s close to most tourists spots if you are a walker. There are 2 flights of steps, in case that is an issue for you. Maybe not for everyone but us we experienced the house and surroundings as a little paradise. The house has character and the whole lot around it is beautiful. It is quiet and has lots of space. The pool is real pool, and not an enlarged sort of bath tub. A beautiful view is included. The house is well equipped, everything worked well. The shoreline is a 40+ minute drive and worthwhile visiting. One can walk kilometers on the wooden board walk or bike along. Even to Porto along the shore which is really not far away. It passes Afurada………… you may want to plan a stop there for excellent sea food at a very reasonable price Hiking trails are in the area. Do some smart shopping for groceries and the like at a supermarket, we did not find anything close by. Maybe a minus for some, if you like to go out and enjoy night life nearby, that is a no-go.

Quiet location (which was what we wanted), excellent house, views, spacious (inside and outside/garden), lots of extras/gifts from the host, who was impeccable. I recommend it and we'll possibly return with warmer temperatures.

Excellent location to get away from the hustle of the city and unwind in the country side. Fully functional kitchen and pool was nice.

Beautiful house with a beautiful view. We really enjoyed our stay, and Elisabete was very easy to communicate with and responsive to anything we needed. She even provided a crib. Thanks so much for hosting us!

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Miguel’s place. The property is even more beautiful than the photos. We stayed with our three kids (aged 4,7 & 10) and they loved the place. The pool was large and with stunning views of the river. There is so many areas to explore, like the well positioned hammocks to relax in, which my two older kids happily sat in reading together. There is an open area with a football goal which my kids loved. You then follow a path further down and you can find the SUPs and kayak, then the entry to the river, which we all made use of everyday. The kids also enjoyed going fishing with daddy in the evenings and we defiantly made use of the BBQ and outdoor dinning for all our meals as well. We couldn’t hear a sound was so peaceful. Miguel provided a list of tips and places to eat before we arrived, and also left some treats for the kids and us. He was very responsive when I had questions too. Voted by kids the best holiday this so far! Can’t wait to return.
