Dumfries and Galloway dark skies park is a stunning location to get away from it all. Based on our eco friendly off grid small holding, the yurt is solar powered and has a wood burning stove, shower room and composting toilet. The yurt has a double bed and three singles (all with down duvets) so sleeps 4 x1 or 1x2 and 3x1 we don't charge a cleaning fee, so what you see is what you pay!! The chemical free, DIY hottub is very private and for the exclusive use of our guests.
Galloway yurts is a solar powered traditional mongolian yurt situated in our meadow on our off grid sustainable small holding near Kirkcowan, south west Scotland. warm, private, comfortable and self contained, it is an ideal place to kick back and get back to nature. The yurt has a gas hob and a well equipped cooking area, a wood burning stove and 12vt power for lighting and charging phones and tablets. One double bed and three bunks all made up and ready to go, there is a shower room and composting toilet, also a barbecue and picnic bench for summer out side cooking and eating, and an outside fireplace for keeping warm whilst stargazing! the first load of Wood for the stove is free through the winter months and from spring to autumn can be purchased from us (but please feel free to bring your own), please bring your own charcoal and torch. The yurt has fantastic views all round and has an open aspect, perfect for viewing the night sky and watching the sunset, you may share the meadow with sheep and sometimes horses, if you want the horses out of the field this is not a problem we are happy to move them. There is plenty of space for kids to roam and a small stream behind the yurt is ideal for kids to splash around in and for keeping drinks cool. The chemical free hottub (subject to water availability) is ideal after a day of walking in the galloway hills, mountain biking, local sightseeing or chilling out at the yurt. The tub is wood fired and you are responsible for starting and keeping the fire going, ( this generally takes about four hours) if you need a hand to get you started just ask. As the hottub is wild water and chemical free we clean and refill it for each set of guests, for this and enough wood to heat it for two nights we charge £25.00. Additional nights are £5.00 per night for the wood. please contact us to book the hottub and for more information
miles of unspoilt coast line. great walking and cycling. peaceful with amazing dawn chorus. and fantastic starry nights.
  • Something we looked out for when choosing a air BnB was being able to get to it without a car yet still being in the depths of nature ! Which is definitely possible through bus + taxi! Its even a magical stay even when all there is is chilling inside of the yurt during a storm! All you need is friends, wine and games! We thoroughly enjoyed cooking and dancing in the yurt, would 100% recommend to anyone thinking of booking. Alison is the most loveliest host, thank you !xxx

  • Wonderful place away, the hot tub was fab and the yurt really cosy and comfy even in a storm.

  • Amazing experience in a perfect location. The Yurt is beautiful and warm, even during storm Ciara we were really cosy. The outdoor hut tub is definitely worth the effort, it’s lovely and cosy in a tranquil setting. We weren’t very lucky with the weather but it didn’t hamper our trip and on the final night we had clear skies. We’ve never seen so many stars. Lovely welcoming host. We’ll definitely return.

  • We had a beautiful stay in the yurt. Warm welcome. Excellent fun setting up the hot tub. Relaxation and bliss at its best.

  • A friend and I had a lovely stay in the yurt, was nice and cozy and we had a great time in the hot tub. Even had some clear skies for stargazing 😊

  • An incredible spot to get away from it all - a cosy rural spot perfect for chilling out and some spectacular landscapes. Couldn't have asked for a more amazing time, from the sunsets/rises to the amazing hot tub and the sustainability of the whole yurt. All topped up with excellent hosts. An all round spectacular few days, wish it could have been longer! Thank you Alison and Brett!

  • A wonderful offgrid experience, would highly recommend for anyone looking to disconnect for a few days. The Yurt is cosy and warm, even in winter.

Escape from it all at this simple secluded, cosy cottage with stunning views, perfect for couples or families. Kids have space to make dens, climb trees and toast marshmallows. In the evening curl up by the fire, play board games or read a book. This is your own secluded holiday cottage set 1/2 mile up a track away from the main road and no other houses around. Whilst there is no internet or TV, there is a DvD player and you can get limited mobile access (vodafone and 02). Keys are in key safe. Once you have confirmed you will see the number. You have the run of the whole cottage and garden (except the caravan and shed which the owner keeps as storage). Although we don't live close by, we have family in the vicinity who can assist if there are any issues. Just call me on +(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) if there are any problems. Dogs - we're happy for 1 or 2 well behaved dogs, but please keep them off the furniture. The garden is not dog proof and there are sheep, cattle and horses in the neighbouring fields so they need to be kept under close control. However there is a nice walk down to the sea (over main road), where dogs can be let off the lead, and there are numerous great walks a short drive away. Rubbish collection - recycling bins at the bottom of the track (by the main road), are emptied on a Thursday morning. Please put your rubbish there the night before. Ruined castles, beautiful gardens, mountain biking, sandy beaches, lovely villages are all within a 30 minute drive of the cottage. Although there is a bus stop 1.5 miles away in Carsluith village, buses are very infrequent and you are advised to bring a car. The cottage is accessed by a rough track 1/2 mile from the main road (A75). It is perfectly accessible by a normal car, but do take care. Some firewood and coal is supplied, but please use sparingly. There's also a BBQ you can use (please bring own coal). Our children (11&9) love playing in the woods using the rope swing, making dens, lighting bonfires and using the zip wire. You are most welcome to do the same at your own risk. Please ensure your children are adequately supervised. The nearest shops are in Gatehouse (8 miles) or Creetown (3 miles). There are lots more tips and information in the cottage.

  • A fantastic base for exploring the Galloway Forest and nearby seaside towns. Easy to find from the main road, even if the track is extremely bumpy to say the least... make sure you take it slow ! A very cosy cottage, with wood supplied for the open fire. A lovely touch with the gift of wine on our arrival ! The kitchen and bathroom are very basic, but clean and sufficient enough for a few days away - you will need to bring your own milk/bread/supplies etc as there is nothing left at the cottage. Lots of suggestions for places to visit dotted around the rooms ! Apart from tonnes of board games, there is only a DVD player for 'electronic' entertainment, no live TV or Wi-Fi (which was fantastic for us) so make sure you bring some of your own DVD's to the cottage as the ones supplied are mainly children's ones :) Thank you Stephen & Kate for letting us stay at your holiday cottage, from Bonnie, Simon and Juno (woof woof) x

  • This place is even better than you can see in the pictures. The outside space is incredible. The cottage has its own private woodland. Our kids (6 and 9) had a great time exploring the woods, playing on the rope swing and zip line and playing in the den. There are great walks directly from the cottage, and many more just a short drive away. The cottage itself is cosy and well-equipped (including plenty of games, books, toys, jigsaws and DVDs). Every room has a beautiful sea-view. The hosts were extremely helpful and quick to respond (even on the day when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the cottage). Highly recommend this place and hope to go back sometime soon.

  • Wonderful place to explore the beauty of Dumfries and Galloway

    Chris2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful, glorious place with amazing views! Everywhere you look is beautiful- even the drive was lovely. We had lovely weather, and watching the sunset and stars was just amazing from the cottage and down at the beach (which we easily walked to). Honestly couldn't recommend it highly enough- if you're looking for a secluded break in a cozy, fire-warmed cottage with fantastic views, this is your best bet. FYI, the other reviewers aren't kidding about the road- it's pretty rough (though I agree it should be suitable for any car), and it is best to go very slow (like, first gear). Also, pick up some condiments such as salt and oil before you get there if you plan on cooking so you don't have to make an extra trip on the road and can just build a fire and relax in all the rural glory of the place.

    Lora2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect location for exploring the stunning Galloway Forest Park. The cottage was so cosy and secluded and provided everything we needed.

    Rachel2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, the view is so breathtaking that it is worth a trip just for it ! Ideal if you want to spend the weekend away from everything.

    margot2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a childhood dream! We had such a lovely time with our kids and spent most of the journey home plotting for a return trip. Stephen and Kate have the place perfectly kitted out and lots of helpful information about the area. There's so much to see and do in and around the house as well as the surrounding area. We will be telling our family and friends about this spot. Can't recommend highly enough.

  • Great guest house in the lovely town of Wigtown. Comfortable, clean room and an outstanding veggie breakfast. I was very well looked after by Julie and Natascha and have no hesitation in recommending Glaisnock to anyone for comfort, great service and excellent value for money!

  • Great breakfast, loads of books to read.

    Paul2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is the most and most NB BNB I have ever lived with my daughter-in-law! This place is a book town. The Glaisnock Cafe (public comment I will add evaluation + map) is a small cafe in this town. There are rooms on the second floor. I drove for nearly 10 hours that day. From Inverness to Wigtown, Julie waited for us until 8 pm. The people were very enthusiastic and recommended a local pub (called CRAFT). The next day Julie also prepared a hearty Scottish breakfast for us, which is very delicious. (Remember if the appetite is not so big, don't order everything, because there is really too much for an adult, and you ca n’t finish it ... …), My wife and I both feel the town is clean, julie and her husband and the people in the town are very friendly, the house is clean and tidy, and the price is the best!

  • I highly recommend this exceptional place to stay. Everything you would expect plus a heap more. Lovely extra touches (such as putting the heating on longer as we arrived late, so the room was lovely and cosy). Very tasty breakfast with a fantastic selection of gluten free options as well.

Woodpecker is a traditional and sympathetically restored self-catering cottage set amidst magnificent scenery in the heart of one of the most beautiful and quiet corners of Galloway. We are located in the conservation village of Bladnoch less than a mile from Wigtown (Scotland's National Book Town). Close by are safe sandy beaches, rolling hills, quiet roads and rugged coastlines. There’s an attractive, traditional child-friendly pub, restaurant and distillery within two minutes walk.
The Cottage sleeps up to six with one double bedroom on the ground floor, and one double and one twin upstairs. It has a kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor (both with a natural slate floor), utility room and games room with pool table, dartboard and table tennis table. The sitting room and dining area has a stripped pine floor and an Aga glass-fronted multi-fueled stove. There’s also an efficient oil-fired central heating system throughout the cottage. A large well-planted garden includes a secluded area ideal for barbecues. Close by are safe sandy beaches, rolling hills, quiet roads and rugged coastlines. Galloway abounds in beautiful gardens, including Logan Botanic Gardens, Scotland’s most exotic. There are several golf courses (one within a 5 minute walk of the cottage) and the area has many places of historic interest. Nearby Whithorn has been a place of pilgrimage for hundreds of years; St. Ninian brought Christianity here in the 4th century, a good hundred years before St. Columba in Iona. Galloway is often referred to as “Scotland in miniature”. The wilderness of the Galloway Hills is close by for serious walkers. For ramblers there are plenty of less challenging byways. It’s also renowned as being one of the best mountain bike areas in Britain. Wildlife is plentiful including ospreys and peregrines, otters and deer. There’s excellent river, loch and sea fishing. This is an ideal spot for a holiday and getting away from the stresses and strains of modern life. People will speak to you in the shops and pass the time of day on the streets.image
  • The cottage is gorgeous - and very reasonably priced. It has been restored in a way that retains its original character as does the lovely garden. The beds are really comfy too (always a consideration with me when booking an airbnb!). The games at the back were greatly appreciated by my nephews. We met the lovely hosts in the antique shops they run nearby and they are close at hand if you have any problems (we didn’t). The cottage is in a great location for exploring this corner of Galloway. It is very peaceful but it also very handily has a great pub/ restaurant at the end of the road and the distillery there is also due to open its visitor centre shortly (late July 2019). It is also only an easy short walk (there is a continuous pavement) from the centre of Wigtown which has more pubs, shops and cafes as well as lots of bookshops (being the book town) and some nice walks including to the Covenant martyr sites and wetland bird reserve. I would also specifically recommend a stop at the sandy beach near Monreith and Kirroughtree near Newton Stewart which has lots of forest walks and bike trails and a visitor centre which has a cafe and bike hire and even showers. We got brilliant weather on top of everything else and hope to return next year!

  • There may only be a couple of reviews on air BnB but there's a guest book dating back 10 years plus worth of great reviews. Woodpecker cottage is thoughtfully equipped with all the things that you need to be able to self cater (but there's also a good pub 100 meters down the road!) Of an evening we would have a game of pool in the outside shed before relaxing in front of the wood burning stove - perfect for the winter months in Scotland! A great find for anyone exploring the area.

  • Woodpecker cottage is truly a tardis of a place . Amazing games room , beautiful garden and thoughtful touches. Very cosy with the wood burner stove . We had a wonderful Christmas . Highly recommended.

Very quiet and peaceful location makes staying in this house a joy for those wishing to visit beautiful Dumfries and Galloway and specifically Wigtown, Scotland's book town. Nice clean double room with lovely views and superb kitchen on offer
My home is in a very quiet and lovely location, a mile outside Wigtown, Scotland's book town. The house itself has an excellent kitchen and the room is spacious. The owner is easy going and willing to help wherever he can (That's me, I am describing!)
Very friendly local folks - I am originally from the West Midlands in England so I think I can comment!
  • The house is great, the bed is equipped with a heating blanket, which is great for a stay in January, Joe is very nice and his dog adorable, and the region is splendid. In great stay!

    Julie2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed a night at Joe's place whilst on a cycling tour of Dumfries and Galloway. It was perfect for the purpose and Joe made the process of finding the house, checking in etc. very easy. The room was very clean and comfortable. Joe gave me a good recommendation for a local place to get an evening meal (The Bladnoch Inn). I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay again.

    Simon2019-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Joe is a very relaxed, welcoming and trusting host. We had a very pleasant stay in his home in a great location in the Machars. The double bed is comfortable, the shower, which is in the bath, has amazingly good water pressure and plenty of hot water so no trouble rinsing out the shampoo! The kitchen is clean and seems well equipped, although we didn't cook during our stay.

    Iona2019-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy home! Lovely views, and it’s close to Wigtown, so it made an easy trip. Great host, too!

    Pmbeck20032019-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Clean and really affordable! Lovely views of the Galloway Hills! If using public transport, you can 'hail and ride' in the area, so the bus stops right at the end of the road. (Tip - if you walk to the right at the end of the road to the interchange, you can catch additional buses that skip Wigtown!)

    Pov2019-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • My stay in Wigtown at Joe’s space was wonderful. Joe was consistently a kind, warm, thoughtful host. He even made sure I was able to get to and from the train and Wigtown- which much to my surprise wasn’t as close as I thought, but I was so grateful for the help there- it felt like he went above and beyond in that. The space was clean and welcoming and warm. There was everything I needed provided and a grocery store not too far away. The location was perfect for me, I didn’t have a car but I found I loved the walk to town and in nature. And for my respite trip it was all perfect. The area is gorgeous, gentle but rich. I would definitely recommend a stay in Wigtown with Joe and would most definitely look to staying there again on my next journey to Scotland. Thank you again, Joe!

Boot Cottage is a hideaway in the small village of Kirkinner in the Machar region, part of the UNESCO Biosphere in Dumfries and Galloway. You step over the threshold into a large open-plan sitting, dining and kitchen area and through to the garden with its own decking and seating area great for a sundowner or a Bar-B-Q. Stairs lead up to the large bedroom with King Sized 1000 spring bed. The ground floor bathroom has a walk in shower.
Although from the outside it may look small, the cottage is deceptively roomy inside. There is a Feeeview tv with attached blu-ray player, a washer/dryer, full oven and hob as well as a microwave, and all tastefully furnished and decorated.
Small village location, convenient for exploring the Machar region as well as the Galloway Forest Park.

Wigtown is a short stroll up the hill and is a lovely town with attractive public gardens forming a focal point in the centre of historic Wigtown. The character of the town changes from sleepy peacefulness to hustle and bustle during it's famous book fair in September resulting in the town happily carrying the title of "Scotland's National Book Town" The Town has retained an delightful old-fashioned charm and there are pleasant walks to follow while meandering through the town and enjoying the high quality gift shops, small galleries, numerous book shops and many cafes. The area spoils for choice of things to explore and discover, with breath-taking scenery, nearby areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, wilderness and romantic sites. Inland, there are the Galloway Hills with hidden lochs and dramatic waterfalls, whilst the beautiful Solway coastline with sandy beaches, rocky coves and picturesque villages are also just a short drive away. One such village not to miss is Garlieston village with it's attractive harbour small sandy beach and welcoming Inn from which to watch the busy waterborne activities while enjoying a cold beverage. Wigtown Bay Local Nature Reserve is internationally recognised for the large numbers of pink-footed geese, Greylag geese, and many species of duck and wading birds which can be seen in autumn and winter. There are also an exceptional number of other activities to enjoy throughout hte area, including fishing beside one of the area's many excellent rivers, or attempting a challenging 7 Stanes cycle track. Horse riding, golf, sailing, diving and numerous walks are available in the area. The area's famously mild climate and the balmy influence of the Gulf Stream make Galloway home to many beautiful and exotic gardens, with Logan Botanic Gardens at the south-western tip of Scotland, near Port Logan, being one of the most exotic and not be missed.
  • Wonderful cottage in a great location for Wigtown and the book festival. Immaculately presented, with everything guests could need. Highly recommended.

Shore Escape is a coastal, family-run, handcrafted retreat with sea views and a stones throw from the shore line of Carsluith Bay. It is situated on the edge of the UK's first Dark Sky Park and situated near the new Southwest 300 route. Shore escape provides the perfect base for a short break and exploring beautiful Dumfries and Galloway.
Situated close to the 7 Stanes mountain biking trails. Close to Kirroughtree - one of the 7 States. Approx 15 mins drive from Shore Escape. Gatehouse of Fleet - approx 20 mins drive. Newton Stewart - approx 20 mins drive. Castle Douglas - approx 30 mins drive.
  • Me and my girlfriend booked for hogmanay at Shore Escape, and really can't recommend it enough. Everything exceeded our expectations. From the prompt, friendly communications beforehand to the nice little touches that made our stay better. Our host Ian greeted us upon arrival, showed us around quickly, and left us to it. We learned that the cabin was built by him and that craftsmanship and attention to detail really shows. It's a credit to him how nicely turned out the property is in the features and fittings. Everything is new and solid and dependable. Shower, sink, WC - all rock solid. Hot water not an issue whatsoever. Radiator worked perfectly. Where he was reluctant to take credit was in the decor which was done by his daughter, and that too was better than expected. The bed was extraordinarily comfy and so hard to leave! I'm all about the duvet and pillows when we get away and these did not disappoint. The dining area was useful and the sofa bed/couch was definitely comfy enough to wile away the afternoon on, with plenty of cushions. She also left us a welcoming hamper, and recommendations of places to go to eat. A lot of places were shut when we were there but it's still an awfully kind thing to do. Then, we get to the location, which is stunning. And to incorporate that into the property with the decking outside and inviting seating area was just fantastic. An amazing place to wake up in on New Year's Day. Overall, it ticked every box and then some for our trip. We just wanted to get away from all the noise and hassle with new year, and we couldn't have picked a better spot for it. Total peace & quiet. A true little gem of this website.

Hi folks, very new to this. I’m a local teacher and first time home owner who is looking to utilise a spare bedroom. The room currently has two single beds, under bed storage and a small chest of drawers. You will have access to your own private bathroom with toilet, shower and bath. Currently building up the furniture in my house so rocking the minimalist look at the mo! The bedroom window looks out onto the garden, back field and some friendly cows.
I have two 1year old kittens who are very friendly. These are house cats so all guests will need to ensure that windows and doors are kept closed.

  • Kelly is a very pleasant, friendly and helpful host. Her modern home is spacious and comfortable, it's a great bonus having full use of a large bathroom with both shower and bath. Wigtown, National Book Town, is a very interesting and peaceful town with medieval history and beautiful scenery. The town is a convenient location when exploring Scotland's south western coastline. Guests need to really like cats as those two house cats are very active and inquisitive.

Our home is a 300-year old character house right in the centre of Scotland's National Book Town. Wigtown is not only brimming with bookshops, but has excellent cafes, antique and curio shops and a gallery. Located on the South West Coastal 300 route, it is perfectly nestled in between beautiful coastal scenery and the Galloway Hills, and boasts excellent access to outdoor activities, the Dark Sky Park, and local whisky and gin distilleries as well as the annual Wigtown Book Festival.
We live in the property year-round, and will be present during your stay. Your stay includes private use of an upstairs double bedroom and shared use of both the main upstairs bathroom with shower and bath and the downstairs wet room with shower and toilet. The bedroom has a double bed with all bed linen and towels provided as well as hanging space and drawers in a built in wardrobe and other furniture in the room. Use of the kitchen and dining room during breakfast is encouraged and basic breakfast items such as bread, cereal, fruit, milk, fruit juice, tea and coffee are included in the cost of your stay. Use of the kitchen after breakfast can be arranged with your hosts, but generally speaking we encourage you to take advantage of all the wonderful places to eat in the area as we're not suitable as fully self-catering accommodation. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer that guests can use if needed, and are included in the cost of your stay. Car parking is free and usually very easy to manage right outside the house, although during the annual book festival it's notoriously tricky to find a space in the very centre of the town so do bear that in mind if booking for the end of September or beginning of October. We have a very fluffy cat called Oscar who lives with us, and is an indoor cat, so this listing is unfortunately not suitable for people with cat allergies or wishing to bring their own pets. The room is otherwise suitable for a single person or couple.
Wigtown is in a beautiful location and has a plethora of bookshops and an annual book festival as it's Scotland's National Book Town. Perfect for bookworms! It also has an award-winning cafe so perfect for coffee and cake-lovers too.
  • This is probably my best AirBnB experience. Perfect location. Elegant and tastefully decorated house, spotlessly clean and ideally situated and mere minutes from all the Wigtown Book Festival events. Bedroom nice with a comfortable double bed. My hosts, Gillian and Craig, were charming, knowledgeable and helpful. I knew at once I was at home from home and that I was in for a most agreeable time. I have no hesitation in recommending without reservation. An additional resident is Oscar the cat, who is also very nicely natured. Only those with feline allergies should look elsewhere.

  • We had a lovely short stay whilst at Wigtown Book Festival. Some nice surprises including a well stocked kitchen and breakfast things. We enjoyed seeing a meteor shower ( it’s a sky park) and having a wee stroll on the farm, and being very close to Wigtown. Aly and Chris were great hosts and very helpful and welcoming.

  • Such a wonderful, cosy hideaway in a lovely rural setting. Spectacular views of the sunrise and stars. Lots to see and do nearby.

  • If you are looking for some peace and quiet , the granary cottage is the place to be.

    Paula2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Aly and Chris were wonderfully thoughtful hosts, and the farm was so lovely and peaceful. We enjoyed walking around the grounds and playing with Ben the therapy dog. Every convenience has been anticipated, and we were very comfortable. We will definitely visit again on our next trip to Scotland!

    Sarah2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Granary, as hosted by Aly and Chris, is a special farm accommodation. Suitable for adults and families alike the view from the sitting room is very special and access to the farm is generous. The hosts very thoughtful and helpful. The accommodation was comfortable with lots of little extras such as DVDs, books and games, and soft toys for kids. A great location for exploring this beautiful part of southwest Scotland. We enjoyed our time thoroughly and recommend the accommodation highly.

  • A perfect place to stay. Very luxurious and super clean and a lot of space. Tracey’s breakfast is amazing. Tracey and her husband are the nicest hosts. They show an interest in their guests and try to help with things you can do in and around Wigtown. If you want to chat you can, but you don’t have to, they are very empathetic. I highly recommend this place!

Fordbank House is a distinctive Victorian country residence, within a private gated garden, the former home of the McLelland family who set up Bladnoch Distillery in 1817 and ran the local Preserved Potato Manufactory and Farina Mill. The comfortable rooms all have en-suite facilities. Guests can enjoy their breakfast while taking in the gentle rolling landscape of the Galloway countryside from the elegant dining room.
Tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryers are available in bedrooms. Fruit, cereals, preserves and home-made bread/toast, tea and coffee are provided for breakfast, or guests can request porridge or a cooked breakfast if required. An iron is available on request.
The Machars peninsula offers a wealth of things to see and enjoy including nearby Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town with its many bookshops and cafes. Nearby is the award-winning Crafty Gin Distillery renown for its Hills and Harbour Gin and Bladnoch Whisky Distillery opening on 25th July 2019. Further down the peninsula is the village of Whithorn with its Priory and connections to St Ninian, reputedly, the first person to bring Christianity to Scotland in 397 AD. The welcoming Bladnoch Inn is a 10 minute walk away. For outdoor enthusiasts the area is brilliant for birdwatchers, walkers and cyclists with the Galloway Forest just a short drive away. Rigg Bay at Garlieston is an ideal spot for a picnic and rock pooling for the children as well as kayaking activities. Lovers of dark skies will also be able to indulge their passion with the nearby Galloway Forest Park nominated as only the fourth Dark Sky Park in the world and the first in the UK. Avid gardeners will be spoilt for choice with the many gardens open for visitors, including Glenwhan, Logan Botanic and Castle Kennedy - courtesy of the Gulf Stream which makes the climate in this part of Scotland particularly mild. Historians will also find much of interest from standing stones to the archaeological dig at Whithorn further south on the peninsula.
  • I adored staying at Fordbank House. Lesley and David were some of the nicest and most thoughtful hosts I have had the pleasure of staying with. A newly refurbished static caravan, with plenty of natural light during the day and beautiful sunsets to warm the heart. my van is kept to a top standard and is cleaned prior to any new guests. this a friendly community that are all here to chill so tends to be quiet and peaceful.
I am sited within Creetown caravan park in the village of Creetown that lies in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway. This a child friendly site [parent supervision is always recommended if using play park] and is peaceful with lots to do in the surrounding areas for all the family we have a large park in the village, pub, shop, butchers, gem rock museum and heritage centre we are 5 mile from Newton Stewart and 40 minuets from Stranraer where you can go to Ireland for the day for as little as £10 per person. I am pet friendly and recommend a lot of the walks in the surrounding area found on the edge of the national forest. So if your idea of a holiday is to get away from it all and just destress from the world then here’s the place to be.
  • Dont think..... just book it. You won't be disappointed

  • We are just back from a lovely 2 night stay. Great caravan which had all the essentials. Check in was very straight forward. Close by to Cream of Galloway and The Coco bean factory so great for a family stay. Many thanks

  • Rhys caravan located at a very strategic area as a base for a holiday in Creetown and the surrounding area. The caravan itself is huge, with three bedrooms, 2 with double bed and 1 with 2 single beds. The living hall as well completed with 3 recliner sofa. The kitchen and toilet complete with necessary amenities. The caravan area is beautiful, close by to grocery shop and all basics that Creetown could offer. The whole family, me, my wife and our 4 kids really enjoy our time at Rhys's caravan. Will definetely recommend his place. Ps: My son left his galaxy smartphone at the caravan, Rhys found it and informed me about it. He even post it back to me to my address free of charge.
