  • Fabulous, well thought out place, super sunny and warm. Great for soaking at the hot springs and birding in the valley, with Sandhill Cranes and Golden Eagles! Will return!

  • I highly recommend Brendan's and Megan's place It is a beautiful unit with an old-world rustic charm. They place was impeccably clean, and had all the important amenities. They were also very clear with their communication and made check-in and check-out very easy.

  • Pet-friendly right next to Sierra Hot Springs!? What a gem! It was the perfect location for taking trips up Hwy 49 and exploring the surrounding forest roads by day, and then soaking in the hot springs by night. Brendan was an ideal host--very responsive, amenable to my special requests, and full of helpful local info. Highly recommended!!

    Peter James2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay and value! We really appreciated the warm space with all the wonderful amenities. The room and living area was very cozy and the butler pantry and kitchen were set up to be really self-sufficient. House has a nice old charm with creaky floors. Great experience!

  • Amazing place. You feel like you’ve gone back in time while also having cell service! Will definitely come back.

    Maddy2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a definite gem. I was able to book just two days before arrival and Chelsea made check in easy and low-stress. I wanted to be near the Sierra Hot Springs but somewhere that had its own charm as well. Each room here is painted in an excellent jewel tone (the sort you want to do at home but are too nervous to commit to) then decorated with an amazing eye for style that matches the gold rush era theme and has a good dose of humor, too. The whole place is cozy, from entryway all the way to the back of the house. The kitchen is stocked with all the amenities needed to cook a serious meal and has good fixtures and appliances. The common space really does look as good as it does in the photo. The only thing to note, as the listing says, is that sounds do carry in the very old house; the walls are thin and the floors creak. Just bring ear plugs for sleeping and you’ll be fine. Highly recommended!

  • Beautiful inn with tons of charm, character, and style. Wonderful location that is walking distance to two great restaurants and only a 15 minute drive to Sierra Hot Springs. Always a joy to stay in a place where the innkeeper is fulfilling a dream... highly recommend!!

  • My 2nd stay here. So clean, so stylish, so many fine little details to take in. Just love it here.

    Lana2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is wonderful! Please make the trip to this friendly farm town and enjoy the hospitality. When we walked in to her place we felt right at home. Thanks, Chelsea!

  • Georgie and Sebastian's place is the perfect getaway to completely unplug. A beautiful location, helpful hosts, and so nice that they allow dogs for a fee. My dog had a great time playing with the dogs on the property. Proximity to the hot springs is particularly nice!

    Grace2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Georgie and Sebastian have an awesome ranch. STAY HERE, YOU WONT REGRET IT!

    Zachary2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Georgie and Sebastian have an ideal home base for any Sierra adventure you might have in mind! We wanted to be close to the hot springs, which are less than a 10 minute drive away, but we look forward to future visits for cross country skiing and hiking in this beautiful area. I cannot recommend these wonderful cabins enough!

    Lauren2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay over a long weekend with our dog. Georgie and Sebastian are the sweetest hosts - so warm and inviting and made us feel like we were at home. Their dog Blue is a sweetheart and played great with our boy and joined us on a hike. The newly installed gas fireplace (looks like a wood stove one) is just magical! All of the little touches throughout the cabin were well done and thoughtful from the welcome candies and dog biscuit to the mini record player and stylish decor. Lots of updates coming to the property and we can’t wait to come back for their planned coffee shop and supper clubs! Would add another star if we could!

    Beau2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved it, this place was so incredibly charming and was everything we hoped it would be.

    Chris2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at the ranch. Our dog Zoey had an amazing time also. The cabin was clean and in a perfect location. We were able to meet Georgie and she was so nice to talk to. :) we are excited to come back soon. It for sure will be our new go to getaway place.

  • This was a really special place and a great find when we couldn’t get into our favorite hot springs in Sierraville. We were so comfortable in our room and loved having access to a kitchen and cozy living room of this Bed and Breakfast.

    Ava2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place with cozy furniture and vintage decor. Very nice library in the shared living room. It felt like stepping back into a quieter and calmer time. Highly recommended :)

  • The Gilded Drifter is an incredible little place! The decor is out of this world, and the experience of it all transports your back in time. The stay exceeded my expectations, and my boyfriend and I hope to come back to Loyalton to visit once again.

    Julie2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • if you are passing through and need a place to crash then i would recommend this spot. Especially if you are heading to sierraville for the springs.

    Andy2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • I have family I visit in Loyalton and was searching for a place close by that I could stay at for a reasonable rate. Not only are the rates fair, I fell in love with the rustic charm of this place! The Guilded Drifter look and ambience echoes with the past. I experienced more of a warm sense of hospitality and really appreciated the level of cleanliness. Thoughtful snacks (GF options) are in your room and you can conveniently Venmo Christine - total lifesaver since I rolled in pretty late and just wanted to relax in my room. As mentioned in the location profile, this is a remodeled Inn built in the 1800s - walls are thin & you can hear movement around the house, but I found guests to be respectful and quiet here. Perfect for writers, self-care vacays, or just a short getaway! Travel can be difficult here during the winter months as a heads up. ✌🏽

    John2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay right near Sierra hot springs

    Thomas 2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Loved it! We were in the area for the Sierra hot springs but they were fully booked. We got the last room at this place about 20 mins away. It was such a unique stay. I love the antique feel of the inn and they have an amazing kitchen. Would recommend to anyone who’s visiting. Only downside is the creaking hears throughout the house when guests walk around.

  • I booked the Blithedale room at about 6:30pm on the day of my stay. I immediately got a note with all the info I needed. When I arrived about an hour later everything was perfect - a personal note and my room key awaiting and a cozy, clean home & room. You will love The Gilded Drifter Inn!

  • I agree with other reviews, it is a hidden gem. Pictures are very accurate, and the place has a very positive cozy atmosphere. My friend and I were impressed with interior and thoughtful details, and would love to come back if we have a chance. Thank you, Chelsea, for being a wonderful host :)

    Elena2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a hidden gem, and I’m almost hesitant to leave a review as I want to keep this as a little secret getaway. It is such a special place to stay with so much thought and love in every detail. An art piece in itself! It’s perfection.

    Kelsi2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 3 had a great time for a night after a soak at the nearby hot springs. We were pleasantly surprised with the thoughtful amenities, the high-quality snacks and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. This place is like a treasure trove with so many cool books, games and antiques, no need for screens! We'd love to come back again and enjoy the outside patio and BBQ sometime. Great price too.

    Jennifer2020-01-06T00:00:00Z

Just a short drive away is the historical town of Truckee, offering countless bars, restaurants, supermarkets and boutiques. • Georgie and Sebastian’s place was chic and rustic. It sits right next to a stream and small waterfall. Very picturesque! The hosts communicated clearly and well. I wish we could have stayed longer.

  • Clean, easy and fun

  • Very rustic and cute, it was a good spot for our family to stay for a night!

    Caitlin2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute place next to a lovely river. Georgie was very helpful and communicative. The record player was a great touch as we listened to records our entire stay!

    Ryan2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Woodsmoke and our girls called it our 'wooden house' for a few days. Georgie was so helpful with information before we arrived and left treats for the kids and us. The beds were comfortable and it's clear the positive updates Georgie and Sebastian have made to the cabin so far. Having the creek just outside and seeing the clear night sky was something very special. The vinyls are a great touch and we played dominoes together as a family for the first time ever. To anyone heading West upon leaving Sierraville, we really recommend taking the 49 westbound if you have time, as a scenic way to avoid the 80 for a while. Thanks again Georgie and Sebastian!

Canyon Ranch is a newly renovated ranch nestled in the heart of the Sierras, providing a magical place to wind down and reconnect with friends and family. Enjoy the sound of the bubbling creek that runs through the heart of our property and when the sun goes down, lie back and be captivated by the starry night sky. Our seven cabins have each been lovingly restored with the discerning traveller in mind and provide the perfect base to explore the stunning Sierra Nevada mountains.
Recently refurbished with all new furnishings and fixtures, Coldstream Perch exudes rustic modern charm. Handcrafted reclaimed wood shelves house enamel dinnerware from Canyon Crow Home and the kitchen comes equipped with full fridge, oven, toaster, French press and every utensil you’ll need to hunker down, gather and cook with friends and family. The bedroom area is perfectly set up for families and offers a new queen bed and twin bunks. With a luxury Casper queen mattress, crisp white linens and Faribault wool blankets and gas stove, you’ll be counting down the minutes until bedtime. The living area comes with vintage rattan chair and vinyl player and records, so when you’re not listening to the relaxing babble of the creek, curl up and listen to some music. Or maybe kick your shoes off and dance! Lighting is by Schoolhouse and a private bathroom offers a shower with organic shampoo and body wash to refresh after a day connecting with Mother Nature. Outside your own private deck directly overlooks the creek and a charcoal BBQ is provided for the ultimate in cooking underneath the stars. The cabin is perfect for 4 adults maximum or two adults and two children. One well behaved dog is allowed for an extra $20 per night, but please no pooches on the furniture/textiles at any time.
Canyon Ranch is situated in the town of Sierraville and has been hosting travelers and backcountry enthusiasts since the 1950s. It was taken over by our family in fall 2019 and we've been lovingly bringing it to life ever since. We believe connecting with nature should not have to mean roughing it and our modern cabins are a dreamy place to switch off and gather with friends and family. The property is perfectly situated to enjoy the boundless outdoor activities the area boasts, from fly fishing, bird watching, gold panning, mountain biking and hiking in the summer to back country skiing and boarding, cross country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter - you can do it all. The many world renowned ski resorts of Tahoe are all just a short drive away, yet far enough away to offer a tranquil reprieve from the bustle of the mountain. • Had a peaceful and restorative weekend at Georgie and Sebastian's. They kept the cabin very clean and nicely appointed that all details were well thought out. My husband and I especially enjoyed the records and turntable, the gas fireplace, and breakfast at the porch next to the rushing creek. The bed was so comfy too! Georgie and Sebastian were very responsive to communications and accommodating of requests. They're putting a lot of care into improvements on the cabins and the property that we can't wait to return and experience more of their place.

    Trish2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a complete gem!! We're already planning our return trip. Cabin is literally on the river, with a beautiful deck overlooking the water. Owners are incredibly friendly. The cabin is a well spaced studio. Kitchen is well stocked and was fun for us to cook in. Totally recommend it!

Our place is good for a couple, solo adventure seeker or just getting back to nature & relaxing in the mountains. This is a cozy one bedroom one full bath, living room & kitchenette. With a relaxing covered front porch. A quiet and peaceful getaway that is tucked in the Sierra Mountains of California. Less than a half an hour drive to beautiful golf courses in Graeagle and historical Downieville and Nevada City. Also a short drive to the Sierra Buttes, one of the gems of the Sierra Mountains.
Just the perfect place for hikers, snow snowshoeing, cross country skiers, bird watchers, mountain biking or just getting away for a quite relaxing time. The town was founded to support the Davies-Johnson Lumber Mill around 1919. From 1921 until 1940, a branch of the Western Pacific Railroad served the town and the mill, working out of Portola, California. The timber stocks were gone by 1939 and the mill closed soon after. This Home was built in the early 30’s as a boarding home that housed employees of the Calpine Lumber Mill & Box Company.
As mentioned in the description. Very quiet and relaxing little town off of Highway 89. Only 40 minutes away from Truckee & 20 minutes To the beautiful Sierra Buttes.
  • Nice place to stay.

    Jennandlance2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • One our favorite things to do when staying in AirBnBs is to chose places that have historic significance. We have stayed in a sea captain's home, a beautiful home in a historic district, a 19th century ranching family's home, and the home of a country doctor. And now we have stayed in a boarding house built in the early 1930's for employees of the Calpine Lumber Mill & Box Company. Walking up the steps and entering the second floor apartment felt like walking back in time. If you use your imagination you can feel what it may have been like to get off after a long day at the mill and come up the stairs to your room in this boarding house. It has been somewhat rearranged from the original footprint, but still holds the ambiance of a boarding house. There is a nice warm wood stove to keep you cozy and a small yet well equipped kitchen. Calpine is a tiny town (population 125). It was wonderfully quiet and dark with a million stars overhead. Linda, who greeted us, was most friendly and helpful. And Mike, with whom I communicated, was incredibly accommodating with our changing plans.

    Carol2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot close to tons of hiking and swimming. I came up here with my dog and we had a wonderful weekend of adventuring. Recommended for solo travelers or couples looking for a place in this area.

    Alex2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Never met Mike but Linda was an excellent host. She was very hospitable and informative. Loved the lesson on the herbs growing in the yard she gave me. Even helped me make a zone for the dogs I borrowed to saunter around in front of the house. The accommodations were spartan but perfectly suitable for checking out the mountains for a day. Thanks for the hospitality Linda! Be well.

  • Short but comfortable stay in this peaceful mountain location. The house was easy to find. Mike and his Mother are great hosts. They were kind enough to mail my favorite shirt which I had left in their place. Thanks for having us.

    Arek2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • I did not meet Mike in person but his wife was so sweet and helpful! She took the time to help us understand how to get to the wedding we came to Calpine for. She even offered to drop us off/pick us up so no one would have to be the designated driver! Small town hospitality is the best.

    Matt2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed having a whole floor and bathroom to ourselves. Good value for the money. Hosts have done a good job at improving the interior and making things inviting and attractive, seeing that the house is decades old. Like improvements to the bathroom and shower. That made the stay very comfortable. We’ll be back again in the future!

A lovely 4 bedroom house on a 1400-acre working cattle ranch in a large sub-alpine valley in the Sierra Nevada, 25 miles north of Truckee. Private meadows and forests to explore, as well as a jumping off place for excursions in the northern Sierra.

  • Eveline's home is absolutely spectacular. We rented the space as we were headed to a wedding in the area. This Air Bnb made the weekend for us. It is beautiful, serene, spacious- it is almost impossible not to relax just by being there. We were so sad to leave! Highly recommend if you are traveling to the area. Eveline was also a very responsive and kind host, accommodating our check-in needs. Overall, one of my favorite rental experiences I've ever had!

    Kerry2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect retreat at Lemon Canyon. With a wrap around porch, outdoor shower, beautiful views, comfortable beds, and great kitchen, it was hard to leave! We spent our days exploring different lakes in the area and our mornings and evenings relaxing at the house. Eveline was great to communicate with, quickly answering any questions I had. I can't wait for our next visit to Sierraville!

    Megan2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Truly wonderful! We felt immediately at home & honestly so sad to leave! Lots to see & do in a 50 mile radius, relaxing & beautiful house & ranch! Absolutely loved it!!!

    Stephanie2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time at the house, and it does not disappoint. A beautiful, cosy, relaxing house styled more European than American, which adds to its charm. We use it as a base camp for visiting some incredible lakes, walks, and waterfalls in the area. Not to mention the 1400 acres at your disposal from the front door. Very quiet, peaceful, and about the best retreat space I have ever been to. Highly recommended, and worth the higher price! I really love the kitchen, and make full use of the double oven and 6 burner stove. The kitchen is small but efficient and lovely to cook in! All in all, we love it here; it suits our needs for quiet, function, beautiful aesthetics, but without the overstuffed and ostentatious feel of other places at the same price point.

    Louisa2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lemon Canyon Ranch is a dream of a place. The eloquently relaxed home, the expansive view of land and sky from inside and out (including the stars from your bed!), the variety of natural habitats to explore and the delightful bird song pull you to stay here all day for days on end! You will be enticed to drop your devices and become absorbed in this remote and beautiful slice of Sierra Valley. It's healing and calming effect are unmistakable. All creature comforts are superbly met (beds, bedding, fantastic "bathing" room, kitchen with all the appliances, pots and utensils you can want), lovely spots to dine from the deck to the lawn chairs to the front porch to the dining room with its "wrap around" fire place, and reading materials for every interest - including good resource materials for the surrounding area. While I've been coming to Sierra Valley for 3 decades I only found this special retreat last year. I hope to be returning (along with all the birds) every year from now on. Thank you for making it available! ps: communication with Eveline was always cordial, responsive, helpful and prompt. She went out of her way to resolve a problem that arose in the reservation process. Couldn't ask for more.

    Kitty2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is very special. I'm so impressed with the location and what the owners have done here; it's an incredible place to spend a week, with beautiful views, a light and wonderful home with verandahs all around, streams and forests and grassland available to walk in from any direction, and the people we met were so friendly. Our dog had the best time of all. Thank you so much to Eveline.

    Lisa2019-06-14T00:00:00Z

Lots of remodels have been done to this rustic cabin. The cabin is wood stove heated. Wood is provided. There are 3 bedrooms. One on the main floor with a queen bed, one at the lower garage level (this room stays nice and cool). This lower level room has a queen size bed and double size bunk beds. The upper loft floor has a double and two twins. Pets that will not be left alone & are not prone to indoor accidents, chewing, excessive barking are welcome.
This is a rustic cabin that has had some remodeling done. New tile and flooring is in the kitchen, bathroom, and throughout. The cabin is wood stove heated. Wood is provided. The wood stove is very efficient and will burn for 8-12 hours. Although the stove does a great job heating the cabin, I currently am not renting the cabin out during the cooler months, unless you can provide me with a statement with your experience using a wood stove as the sole heating source in the past. If you book without this statement, I may have to cancel the reservation for this reason. There are 3 bedrooms. One on the main floor with a queen bed, one at the lower garage level (this room stays nice and cool). This lower level room has a queen size bed and double size bunk beds. The upper loft floor has a double and two twins. As described, the house is a tri level with sleeping areas in each level. The laundry room on the main floor has a washer/dryer. The kitchen is fully functional with a dishwasher, coffee maker, and juicer, although there is no microwave. The bathroom has a shower/tub combo. The living room is large to seat everyone and has a card table that extends to sit 6. This with the kitchen table can sit 12 total. The front porch faces toward a park where you can whistle your kids home. The park also has basketball hoops, tennis courts, and a baseball diamond. The back yard has a charcoal bbq and faces wilderness where there is lots of privacy. There are nearby quad, sledding, and snowmobile trails so bring your toys. Nearby is the trailhead to Calpine lookout, Graeagle for golf, beer/wine tasting and cute shops (15 minute drive), Sierraville for biking, hot springs, and a shooting range (15 minute drive), Gold Lakes with great hiking and swimming at Sand Pond (25 minute drive), and Portola where a grocery store and public pool are (30 minutes). North Star ski resort and Truckee are about a 45 minute drive away and birdwatching in Sierra Valley is beautiful. Jackson Lake is a 30 minute drive for great fishing.
There is a park with basketball hoops, tennis courts, and baseball fields 300 yards away.
  • Heather's house was a great stay. Ideal location for our needs, great back porch, right against a forest. And did I mention an epic collection of VHS tapes and DVDs. The wood stove has no problem getting the house nice and cozy. We'll be back.

  • This by far has been the best place we've ever stayed at. Everything was absolutely perfect it was clean and there was more than enough space for our big family. Heather thought of everything anyone could ever need and more. There were fishing rods and bikes that we were able to use on our trip and even caught fish with. The juicer was a fun touch. The kids got to play the Wii upstairs at the end of the day and my husband absolutely enjoyed the awesome collection of movies. There was nothing at all that we needed for that wasnt already there and there was absolutely nothing we would change. Cant wait to come back again!

  • Great place. Great host. The cabin is perfect. Location is on a very quiet side street with ample parking and a great back yard. The cabin is clean and spacious and well appointed. Heather is a treat to work with. She is responsive and helpful. I'll be staying again when I'm working in the area next.

  • Amazing home with stunning views. Not sure what all the bad reviews about water heater issues are. No issues with hot water or heat whatsoever. Wood burning fire places inside and out so don’t forget to bring some firewood!

    Alex2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Luxury gem close to Sierraville hotsprings, well appointed home with a great caretaker. Floors were fussy when we were there and the bathtub requires time between fillings presumably because the hot water heater isn't big enough or is an insta-heater that shuts off as a safety feature. Excellent kitchen, nice fireplace, cozy sitting room, wonderful artwork and sweeping views make this place extra special.

  • This is a beautiful house in a remote location, not far from Sierraville. We loved the location but it’s not convenient if you want to ski or go into town, especially if there’s snow as the driveway was not plowed during our stay. Our 4 wheel drive vehicles had no problem getting in and out but I’m not sure a 2 wheel drive car would make it. The house itself is beautiful and comfortable. It’s great for kids. We had some issues with the hot water heater tripping off, but the caretaker David was very responsive and showed us how to reset it, which was easy to do and resolved the issue. Overall a great house for the price!

    Britta2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • The space was amazing, modern, high ceilings, great views and easily able to fit our party of 5. We would recommend the space to anyone.

    David2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • This space is startlingly beautiful, with amazing views and easy access to the hot springs and Lakes Basin hiking. The hosts are attentive and the caretaker of the space is excellent. I highly recommend this space to anyone and everyone.

  • This house and property are absolutely stunning. Check-in was super easy, and the house was nice and clean. We stayed here with another family and we both brought our two year olds. We all enjoyed our stay so so much. The views were a dream, and the house was a perfect little retreat. We loved hiking and swimming at nearby lakes (Independence Lake, Gold Lake, Frazier Falls trail) and then coming back to this little slice of paradise to enjoy the sunset from the back patio. Can’t wait to go back!

    Sarah2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific house - stylish, well designed, high end finishes, and not the usual level of rental properties. It was also much bigger than the photos suggest. It was a ways out of Truckee, so was a bit of trek for restaurants, but in a beautiful spot, close to Sierraville and allowed us to explore a part of the area we didn't know. Directions and communications were all great. Great summer escape and a great price for the incredible property.

    Chris2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures do not do the view, house, or space the justice it deserves. What an amazing gem!! Steve set everything up so access and entrance was super easy. The responses while we were there were fast and everyone was very kind through the whole process. I have already prepared to return with family later this year because it offers such a great escape from the world!

  • I absolutely stumbled upon a gem when I found The Gilded Drifter Inn. This place is charming beyond words. Every. Single. Element of this Inn is lovingly restored. Chelsea's sense of place echoes in the walls, the floors, every detail of this home. Cooking meals in the kitchen, settling in next to the gas fireplace in the library and interacting with other guests at the inn, all while having my dog at my side is such a sweet and homey way to enjoy time away from my own home. Not to mention the slow place, yet dreamy quality of Loyalton. This tiny town nestled in the Sierras is a sweet respite from the big city of Reno, and yet not too far off the beaten path. I will most certainly return to this place, time and time again. Thank you, Chelsea.

    Whitney2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Gilded Drifter Inn is a beautiful and historic home that has been remodeled and decorated by Chelsea - a young, inspired, hard-working and thoughtful entrepreneur. She lives on site and clearly loves her Inn and the town of Loyalton. It was like staying in a warm museum, every detail hand-picked. Exceptionally clean, with every amenity we could have wanted. Our stay was stupendous in every way. We've been twice and are looking forward to the opening of the new farm-to-form restaurant next door.

  • This is our second stay here and the place is still as good as we remember it. The house is clean, has everything you will need and has good restaurants walking distance from it. Check in is a breeze. We will surely be back next year!

    Christopher2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Probably one of the few airbnb in Sierraville and a super clean one. We will stay again.

    Stefy2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about the Valley House was amazing! The whole house is spotless and it was so cozy and comfortable. The house had everything you would at home and that’s what it felt like HOME. This is our first Airbnb stay and we are super satisfied . We would definitely recommend a stay here and we will be back ourselves.

    Luis2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first stay in Unit #1. It's a lovely space which happens to also be ADA. Very comfortable accommodations, as well as clean. We found everything we needed in the kitchen. Love the location, since you can walk to grab a meal just a block or so away. Sierra Valley is a gem for birding and Brendan and Megan's place is perfect.

    Susie2019-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Really clean, easy, well furnished to sleep and eat, sweet bathroom, spacious, looks out onto the the valley.

    Ádithya2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 3 months in unit 1, feb - may. What a fantastic spot. Brendan was highly accommodating, the unit itself was perfect, the location is amazing, the Sierra Valley is a special place. The soundproofing between the two units is quite good, we never heard our neighbors. Any issue or question we had, Brendan was on it. We couldn’t have asked for a better situation.

    Tyler2019-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Brendan and Megan are excellent hosts. They provided all relevant information promptly. The property is clean and well-equipped with all the essential amenities. We hope to stay here again in the future.

    Pranav2019-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Megan and Brendan’s place is very special. We stayed for several days and left feeling relaxed and ready for life. It was a great escape! It’s a really preferable alternative to Truckee if you are looking for a proper quiet getaway. It is hands down the most comfortable bed other than my own (maybe better?) that I have slept in. There’s 2 great cafe spots with the nicest people and good food, though we do recommend bringing most of your own food since there’s a full kitchen. In a pinch, and if you need booze, the gas station/general store is right there. Those folks are also super nice and helpful. Also, if you’re up for an adventure, the Sierra Hot Springs is a quick drive. Most of all, Brendan’s kindness and clear concern for his guests makes this a must.

  • Amazing old school antique inn. Very romantic setting of the Wild West. Stylishly furnished. I felt very safe here with my little one and excited to return one day with family and friends to share the enchanted feeling of staying at the Gilded Drifter Inn.

  • This is a great deal! Wonderfully decorated home, we really loved the Wilde room, it was funky, comfortable and cozy. This place has everything you need and more. Especially loved hanging out on the back patio and playing old dean Martin records in the library. We went to the hot springs every night, a very quick 13 minutes straight down the road. During the day we went exploring the many surrounding lakes and even dug up some cool crystals! Chelsea also has a great book collection.

  • Chelsea is such a thoughtful and incredible host! Everything you need is here- from coffee filters to wine, bathroom supplies, etc. She has thought of everything. The rooms are beautifully decorated and beds comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a glorious meal. And best of all- dog friendly. I found the renovation book during this stay and am astounded by the work and love she have put into making the inn so beyond amazing over the last three years. Each time I return she has added a new upgrade. It is always evolving in a positive way. I cannot wait to try the new restaurant!

  • I highly recommended Chelsea's Gilded Drifter Inn! My boyfriend and I stayed with our dog Mika while passing through the area and absolutely fell in love with this place! We will be back soon! Chelsea did an incredible job making it beautiful, unique, comfortable, and so quaint. Every amenity we needed was readily available. So clean and comfortable. She had doors open for rooms that weren't booked, so we were able to take a peak inside and every single room looked incredible. The outdoor patio area was lovely too, and it was wonderful waking up to the lovely, peaceful views. You don't want to miss out on this experience!

  • The Gilded Drifter is a fantastic place to say. The spaces are quirky and beautiful, Chelsea has done a fantastic job of furnishing both the shared spaces as well as the private rooms. We stayed in the Clemens Room, and it was spectacular. The big windows let in plenty of light, making it a lovely spot to sit and read, or just sit watch the life in the valley go by. Everything was very clean, and there were many thoughtful touches that made the Inn the perfect place to stay.

  • Allison/David: Georgie/Sebastian thought of everything including a well appointed kitchen for cozy family meals and a nice selection of records for the record player. Leo 12: Enjoyed everything, it was clean and loved having hot chocolate in front of the fireplace on the rocker. Gavin 9: thought it was very cozy, the beds are soft, nice fireplace and perfect for us.

    David2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend, far enough to enjoy the serenity of wild snowscape, but close enough to enjoy Truckee and all things Tahoe. Georgie and Sebastian were great - quick to respond and very accommodating. We will be back!

  • We stayed in Trout Watch and loved our night here. The cabin is so charming and cozy, but most importantly clean and comfortable. I slept great in the bed and stayed warm all night despite it being freezing outside. Georgie and Sebastian are clearly very sweet and hardworking people. I will definitely be returning.
