'Curlew' is on the East beach in the lovely Devon village of Branscombe. It has a unique position right on the beach on a raised elevation, throw open the balcony doors and you are looking out onto the ever changing sea and stunning coastline which is a World Heritage site and area of outstanding natural beauty. There are two fine pubs supplying excellent food and locally brewed ales in the village and amazing cliff path walks East or West.
Living as close as is humanly possible to the sea, without the movement of a boat! The Chalet is actually on a raised platform on the beach, the French doors open onto a balcony where all you can see is the ever changing water and sky.
  • Fabulous place to stay - location is amazing! Jonathan is a great host and replies very quickly! We will be back - which says it all :-) Thank you!

  • Perfection location, such a peaceful beach! My boys loved playing outside and loved staying in the chalet! It was a homely and relaxed space and the balcony made it perfect as you could sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the sun while the kids played on a deserted beach right infront of the chalet. They also loved having evening camp fires on the beach! We stayed here only last week and had amazing weather on one day, walked to the top of the hill next to the beach, fantastic views! But a very hard climb for adults let alone my 2 year old! Worth it for the views though! Watched the sun rises over the mountain side at 6.30am which was beautiful! Would definitely stay here again but next time I would pack lighter as my husband wasn’t happy with me as he had to carry our stuff which was a heavy suitcase up a hill and down again on to the beach... if you read reviews like I did (but didn’t take advice) take that one thing from it, pack light, small bags, easier to transport to the chalet. Apparently the guys in the car park said they do offer a service to drive people down there with their belongings on their beach buggy thing for a price. Sadly we didn’t know this until the last day, but worth finding them in the car park area if you have a few bags because your staying with kids and bedding etc to take to the chalet! Jonathan was a great host who answered my messages and calls straight away, genuinely caring and wanted to know if we had enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back, it’s a perfect space which is basic, nothing fancy but it’s all you need when your in a beautiful location like that, whatever the weather! The modern bathroom and kitchen area is a nice touch to an older chalet which has character! Thank you again Jonathan! Our children, my husband and I loved it!

  • Incredible location. The sound from the sea fills the chalet. Loved it

    Barry2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Curlew Chalet is situated in a truly stunning location, the views out of the window and the sound of the waves breaking on the beach are absolutely memorising. Early morning walks along the beach before breakfast are a must. Loads of interesting places to visit and pubs/restaurants for lunchtime/evening meals out, or just eat in and open out the bi-folding doors to soak in the view ... Our host Jonathan couldn't have been more helpful during our visit, and I would highly recommend this accommodation - Already making plans for a return visit.

    Mike2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Although you do have to walk a few minutes to get to the chalet, it is well worth the walk. The location is beautiful right by the sea, very calm and peaceful inside and comfortable. The walks nearby are great and the cafe down by the car Park is an added bonus should you not want to cook. Definitely worth a visit and Jonathan is great and on the phone should you need his help.

  • Fantastic location. Perfect place for a family weekend.

    Sam2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great location right on the beach. Clean. If you are going there in the winter or anytime apart from summer, you will need proper footwear to get up and down the hill to the chalet. We did it at night, not a good idea. We loved our stay and would highly recommend. Thank you Jonathan for all your help and messages, will stay here again.

    Dominique2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This chalet is an amazing find; one can enjoy the solitude whilst listening to the waves crashing outside. Alternatively it’s a walker’s dream exploring the local area. Jonathan is an attentive host who responds to communication promptly. I’m looking forward to creating space to rebook later in the year. Thank you 😊

  • An absolutely amazing house in the heart of a lovely seaside village. The hosts were very attentive to our needs before our visit and answered any questions within the hour. The house itself is incredible. So much space both inside and outside, with a lovely garden and sea views. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and even a hamper to make us feel very welcome. The rooms and bathrooms are also great and well equipped. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone who needs a large space for get togethers!

  • Lovely house in a super location! We would definitely recommend and will book again. We had a weekend away with friends and their children - the house is vast and accommodated our large group easily. The house was also immaculately clean. Budleigh Salterton itself is super with easy access to the South West coast path.

Self contained, luxurious eco retreat in the beautiful East Devon countryside - just 6 miles from the sea! As seen on Grand Designs and Grand Designs Revisited 2018, our property is a zero carbon luxurious eco home, built from traditional cob, with a wildflower meadow roof and set in 3.5 acres of meadow and woodland. Ottery St Mary is a charming, bustling, little town, set on the River Otter, providing all the basic needs, independent shops and plenty of lovely eateries, and a few pubs!
As seen on Grand Designs and Grand Designs Revisited 2018, our property is a modern zero carbon eco luxurious home, built from traditional cob, with an amazing wildflower meadow roof and set in 3.5 acres of meadow and woodland. This is a luxury, zero carbon house - we produce all of our own electricity and all of our water is either filtered rainwater or from our borehole. Tea, coffee, sugar, milk and scones or biscuits are provided as a welcome pack for your arrival. Dingle Dell annexe is linked to our home by a large, very productive, (almost tropical!) greenhouse. Dingle Dell annexe has 3 bedrooms - a king and a twin on the ground floor, with a further king upstairs, all furnished with quality oak furniture, deep mattresses and quality bedding. The bathrooms are both beautifully fitted with travertine floor tiles, with a walk in rainfall shower and a very comfy slipper bath on the ground floor, and a luxury shower over the bath on the first floor. Both bathrooms are also fitted with luxurious "I Love Eco Essentials" toiletries. There is a gorgeous woodburner, with logs provided, in the ground floor living area, which is used to boost the hot water if the sun lets us down! This then opens onto a sunspace with a dining table and amazing views across our meadow and out onto East Devon. Stunning hand made oak stairs wind up to the first floor from the sunspace, into an open living / dining and bespoke hand made oak kitchen, plus the king bedroom and bathroom. The layout is great for grand parents, parents and children, or multiple couples holidaying together as it still achieves a level of privacy and space if required! We also have an amazing private gym / sauna/ games room suite which is available to book for your exclusive use for an additional charge. This is available to annexe guests over 18 years only. There is lots of space for easy parking on site and a covered charging bay for electric cars if required.
We are at the end of a long, unmetalled track, right on the edge of Ottery St Mary surrounded by beautiful East Devon countryside. Exeter is only 10 miles away, and the stunning East Devon (Jurassic) coast is just 6 miles away. Head to the coast for a beach walk or beach day, plus activities such as kayaking and fossil hunting, plus the famous South West coast path. A choice of bike trails are nearby and a footpath across the surrounding farmland is just outside the gate! A walk along the River Otter, which leads all the way to Budleigh Salterton from Ottery St Mary, is glorious and shouldn't be overloooked, a few miles south takes you to the village of Tipton St John, with a very lovely country pub... Keep a look out for amazing wildlife including otters and even beavers along the riverbanks!
  • A truly spectacular place to stay. Kevin and Karen were very welcoming and we enjoyed our stay very much.

    Bex2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kevin and Karen made sure we were comfortable but at the same time were always available if we needed something. The house is even more amazing than it looks on Grand Designs. Everything is beautifully crafted, beautiful to look at and the walls seem to almost hug you. We're only sorry that we were too busy driving around sightseeing to take the time to go for a walk through the meadow and see if we could see any otters in the stream. Would recommend this to anyone!

    Cathy2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Dingle Dell is an extraordinary, robust home! A warm, cosy and comfortable space to return to after a long day touring gorgeous Devon. Kevin and Karen are exemplary hosts who were very obliging and quick to respond. Enjoy!

Private 1st floor flat with full kitchen (oven + hob), big shower, large deck. In peaceful rural setting with views of fields, cows and trees, 7 miles from Exeter centre. Range of breakfast items, including eggs from our hens. Comfy kingsize bed. 4 ft sofabed available for 1 or 2 people.
Covid 19- special notes. In the light of the current pandemic, I have altered my booking settings to take as many precautions as possible to avoid contagion of either us or guests. So until further notice (ie until the disease has run its course), I’m leaving big gaps between bookings for cleaning, and asking that people book at least for 5 days as I do not think I could safely manage a faster turnover. If you have any further questions, please drop me a message! The garden flat is our guest room, located above our detached garage. It has wide views over fields and its own large raised deck where you can sit and eat or drink wine while watching the cows and sheep go by. It has a large shower and a well-equipped kitchen (including fridge, cooker, oven, toaster, kettle and selection of hot drinks) where you can make your own meals. There is a dining area and an office corner. Our house and the flat get all their heat and hot water from a biomass boiler that burns local logs, which we happily explain to you if you would like to know about it. We are rather fond of our boiler!
The flat is surrounded by green Devon fields and working farms. It is very gentle and quiet, however our neighbours are dairy farmers and are often up and working by 5am. There are cows nearby. Our hamlet is a lovely, gentle place, where very little happens. There is a forest with a set of good walking tracks within walking distance, and a wonderful hill with a 270 degree view just up the road. If you come in the rainy season (January to December) remember your wellies or sturdy footwear if you want to walk in the forest as it can be muddy. There is a good country pub called the The New Inn on the edge of Broadclyst about 2 miles away where you can get decent meals for a reasonable price. There is also a gastro-pub 3 miles away in Clyst Hydon, which is more expensive but very good- The Five Bells. There is a village shop and a Coop supermarket in Broadclyst. We live on the edge of the Killerton estate, a National Trust house and gardens with an interesting collection of period costume and a range of interesting events and exhibitions throughout the year. The sea at Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth is about half an hour away. The North Devon coast is about one hour away.
  • Perfect Airbnb in every way. Would highly recommend!

  • Our stay at Eleanor's place was beautiful. Lovely peace and quite, great weekend getaway. Beautiful fresh eggs, milk and orange juice was provided for breakfast and we loved the pets at the property.

    Elliott2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Happy to sing the praises of Eleanor's flat, which offers cosy respite, home comforts and an abundance of charm. We loved the well equipped kitchen, the comfy bed, stunning countryside views and serene quiet. Eleanor makes you welcome with helpful directions, fresh eggs, breakfast supplies, tourist info and books, tv and plentiful towels and toiletries. We rested well after a long journey and would happily recommend this cosy place to anyone breaking up a journey to the south west, or simply to enjoy the location and nearby Exeter.

  • This was the most perfect getaway for us in so many ways. Thanks you so much Brenda, Dave and all the sheep! X

  • At the one year anniversary of my mother and brothers sudden death I was looking for somewhere to stay that was secluded and would take me away from the daily humdrum of life and this property did not disappoint. The lodge was absolutely stunning and the scenery was gorgeous. Waking up to hearing only the birds singing and going to sleep in blissful silence is something hard to find but not here! The lodge was exceptionally well equipped with everything you need to be holed up, the log fire was lovely in the evenings and the large dining table was surprisingly useful, we ate one end and used the other for our never ending game of monopoly. The bed was comfy and the room smelt divine. The bath was a blissful added extra. The generator was easy to use if you needed electricity but to be honest we hardly used it, the plentiful candles were enough for us. The kitchen included everything you need, loved the Aga. All in all, we were sad to leave and would love to return.

  • What a beautiful location ! If you want an exclusive stay and are a country lover you won’t be disappointed.

    Katherine2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful spot! Our boys loved it so much they asked if they could extend our stay for a year..! We spotted 10 deer on our early morning walk and countless songbirds and pheasants. Peaceful evenings by candlelight (/minus WiFi) brought much needed relaxation and wonderful family time. Thank you!

    Milly2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Alice's Barn really is such a hidden gem. My girls aged 9 and 10 were a little nervous about spending 3 days without a TV but they loved it as did we. The barn is so special in every way, and helps you reconnect with nature and most importantly one an other. There is a lovely roll top bath that's not shown in the pictures too which is a treat. We used the generator at meals time, just so as we had a little more light but other than that enjoyed candle lit evenings and cozy mornings. Highly recommend this getaway for anyone's family.

  • Such a lovely cottage, just as pictured and with lots of thoughtful touches like snacks and proper coffee. Still feels very private although it is attached to the main house. The place was sparkling clean and smelled great! We got a bit lost arriving after dark (Londoners in the country!!) but Phillip and his neighbours were very helpful and made sure we arrived safely. We only had a short stay with our pup to visit friends in Exeter but hope to come back to explore the countryside. The stargazing was top notch too!

  • We visited with our small dog, who also had a great time. We had a perfect stay. Warm and welcoming hosts who were easy to communicate with. Clear directions, in a beautiful rural location. The accommodation was sparkling clean, and thoughtfully designed. Lots of added touches, including snacks and fresh fruit. We arrived past day light, but waking up to such a special view was a real treat. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

  • Thank you for a lovely stay .. shame about storm Dennis but we had a lovely time .. the brownies, procesco and dog treats were a lovely touch

    Georgina2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gorgeous little Airbnb; well presented, very clean and all the small touches needed for a perfect stay! We were quite last minute in deciding to bring dogs with us, we let unique holiday stays know but they were slow to respond, which left us worried that Pam, the owner would be unhappy. To the contrary, she was delightful and happily welcomed us and our four legged friends. Pam had made delicious brownies, helped us work the hot tub and gave us tips about the local area. An excellent host!! (Curfew on the hot tub not an issue at all, in fact, fully understandable due to the tranquil surroundings and out of respect to neighbours) We will definitely be coming back!!

    Gemma2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at this lodge, Pam was lovely and had thought of absolutely everything. It was very clean, well equipped, extremely dog friendly and in the perfect location for exploring Devon. The only problem was Unique Holiday Stays (booking agent) were unresponsive when we had questions about our booking before we arrived. We would highly recommend staying at this lodge and intend to return!

It is a quiet residential area which is readily accessible by foot , (about 15 mins) to the shops, pubs, beach and sea via a lovely level riverside walk called The Byes by the River Sid where you might see the kingfishers or if you are REALLY lucky, an otter. There are many other walks right on hand including wild flower meadows and we will leave maps with routes marked. The Norman Lockyer Observatory is on the top of Salcombe Hill only about a mile or so from us and is a great place to explore the heavens. They often have open nights. Just check on the internet. The South West Coastal Path and the Jurassic Coast is right on hand with stunning walks that emanate virtually from the doorstep of The Garden Studio. There is a cycle path close by to the beach/town if you fancy exploring the area on your bikes and a lockable bike shed right next to the Studio to keep them in . The Donkey Sanctuary is only about 1.5 miles away and is a great half day out with many attractions not least being that its FREE.

  • We had a lovely time staying at The Garden Studio. It was immaculately clean, well designed and decorated, and has everything you need. Ian met us on arrival, and Carol and Ian’s communication prior to our visit was great. There are lots of nice touches, including a bookcase with a range of books. As it was February, we didn’t use the garden much, but the space was lovely with some spring flowers starting to bloom. The location is perfect, easy access to Sidmouth town centre, and lots to do in the area. We would highly recommend staying here!

Bright sunny seafront apartment with stunning sea views, located within a majestic Regency period building. Close to all amenities, yards from the beach and perfect location for either setting out on coastal walks along the spectacular Jurassic coastline, or strolls along the delightful Esplanade.
Sit and relax in the bright, sunny lounge, whether it be enjoying a good novel or simply gazing out across the panoramic sea view. Watching the to-ing and fro-ing of the boats and swimmers in the sea below. A view possibly equalled but rarely bettered.
Sidmouth is a delightful coastal Regency town, unspoiled by the passage of time. The apartment is close to all amenities including restaurants, bars, independent retail shops, cinema, theatre and indoor public swimming pool.
  • Location and sea view amazing!

    David2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent view in a cosy flat overlooking the sea - easy access to the town, good pubs and restaurants and great walks to walk it all off. Parking at least during February is readily available in front of the flat. Car parking places also easily accessible.

  • The Aspect was the perfect spot to watch the sea - one day it was the sea splashing over the prom, thankfully the next day the sun shining on the ocean. A lovely little apartment with everything you need for a stay at the seaside.. We had no problem parking outside the three day we stayed.

    Liz2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great location - amazing views

    Emily2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Aspect has the best view and location. I could spend hours just looking at the sea through the window. Finbarr is an excellent host and great at providing information. The apartment is light and bright. It is central and within easy walking distance of the local shops and restaurants. The bed is super comfortable. There is a small wardrobe which you share with the hoover. There are storage crates under the bed. We only had space in the living area to leave luggage but this didn’t bother us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Sidmouth lies on the Jurassic coast in East Devon. It is surrounded by wonderful countryside giving access to glorious shingle/sandy beaches, red sandstone cliffs, the River Sid valley, coastal woodland and open heathland. The small town is delightful with a variety of independent shops, many cafes and restaurants, a museum, theatre and cinema (showing all live transmissions) and an indoor swimming pool . We are a town of Festivals and love to welcome people with a wide diversity of interests.
The Annex itself is completely independent, all fresh and clean with a lovely south west facing outside patio overlooking our beautiful garden and the Sid Valley. We hope you will find everything you need in the kitchen - a hot water/central heating boiler (which keeps the accomodation lovely and cosy), fridge, cooker, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave. The adjoining lounge is comfortable with extensive views. Wi-Fi is strong here and the TV has Freeview and a DVD player. Upstairs you will find the lovely open plan bedroom and bathroom with comfortable king size bed, slipper bath, quadrant shower and a separate loo. The views over the valley and coast are stunning. Superb original photography decorates the walls. The Annex is up the east side of the Sid Valley and guests always comment on how convenient we are for both the town and the country. Our area is a very quiet area but you will be only a short walk from the town, the Promenade and The Byes ( 8 - 10 mins). In Spring 2020 the new bridge over the Sid opens on the Ham and we are well placed to enjoy this lovely new feature of the town. The exciting Mitch Tonks 'Rockfish' restaurant will be opening in the Summer too, nearby and over the new bridge. (Worth booking in advance!) You can easily walk to the east or west along the South West Coast Path from The Annex with glorious views over Lyme Bay. There are also useful local buses to either take you along your chosen route or bring you back. There is lovely warm sea swimming from a choice of beaches which are also good places to relax. The Byes just below us provides gentle level walking too with glorious trees. We are perfectly placed for The Donkey Sanctuary and if you wish to explore further, the pretty coastal villages of Lyme Regis, Beer, Branscombe, Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth are a short drive away. There is an excellent bus service to the exciting city of Exeter or you can use the well located Park and Ride to explore the world class Cathedral and Museum as well as John Lewis and the Princesshay Shopping Centre. Something for everyone! Do come and join us!
We are in a peaceful residential area up above the town. There are 2 ways down to the town and the sea - Hillside Road and Cliff Road (which is now the SW Coast Path). Down in the town along the Byes and the Promenade there is level walking and access to many interesting buildings and independent shops.
  • This is a great space. The pictures are accurate, but they don't convey the location or the setting, which is perfect. Thoroughly recommend staying here.

  • Jill’s a great host and her annex is fantastic, you won’t be disappointed! It’s clean, airy and spacious and has a lovely lofty position overlooking Sidmouth. It’s just a short (but hilly!) walk from the town and the coast path, and Jill’s assembled lots of info on things to do in the area. I’d definitely recommend a stay there.

    Kevin2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location for both the town of Sidmouth & coastal footpath.

    Trevor2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a relaxing stay at oak cottage enjoying the lovely views over Sidmouth and soaking in the very comfortable bath. Jill was very friendly and met us on arrival to welcome us to the annexe and was on hand if needed without being intrusive. The annexe is peaceful and comfortable and with its own entrance feels like a private country cottage. The location is great as it’s short scenic walk into the town passing a pretty park and river. We would stay again at Oak cottage and recommend to others.

    Christopher2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jill's place is the perfect place to get some rest, visit Sidmouth, discover a quiet life. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathtub felt like a 5-star hotel. The kitchen has all the cookware needed. Special mention for the amazing sofa, view and the large cupboard !! Going to the Annex feels like coming home to somewhere you've never been to. Thank you Jill!!

    Laetitia2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay at Jill’s place. Walking distance to the town where there are shops and a good selection of restaurants. The weather was terrible when we stayed so we didn’t get the full outdoor experience but we still had a lovely time. Lovely warm and clean space, would recommend.

My place is close to the beach, cinema, theatre, shops and restuarants. Coastal walks. Short drive to the famous Donkey Sanctuary, public transport, the airport. You’ll love my place because of the ambiance and the comfy bedS. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travel
  • Wendy was a great host who made us feel very welcome in her lovely home. The breakfast was a nice treat in the morning. Thank you again for a great stay. Would definitely recommend.

    Amy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy is a lovely host and has a super clean and warm home. Lovely private shower room, the comfy bed an quality linen ensured a well earned sleep after a long drive .Loved the location just 10 minutes walk from the beach front and facilities. Wendy makes a darn good fresh fruit salad with muesli for breakfast. I do think however that her rates are too low - possibly the best value accommodation in Devon and now our go-to place down there.

    Ian2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • I felt welcomed as soon as Wendy opened the door. The room was spacious and clean. It smelt amazing too and you can tell she takes pride in being the perfect host. She’s open to conversation and she respected my privacy. The bed was comfortable and I loved the shower facility. Loads of power and heat if required. I access to my own shower/toilet. Again I could tell she has invested in quality. The highlight was my breakfast. I had my own granola but preferred her fruit salad she prepared every morning. I appreciated the effort she put into preparation and also the quality of the fruit. It was like being at home. I was free to come and go and this was important for me. I would definitely recommend Wendy’s place. It’s literally 10minute walk to the coast.

  • My Xmas break was perfect and exactly what I was looking for. Easy to walk into town (about 10 minutes) The Donkey Sanctuary was easy to reach on the bus. Wendy was such a lovely person and I was very much at home with the two very friendly cats. TV in bedroom or the use of the lounge. Wendy lit the fire which was so cosy. The breakfast she provided was perfect and her garden lovely in warmer months. The whole house was very clean and sole use of shower/bathroom. Will return again. Jen

The same bus will also take you one to Exeter, or certain ones will go to Honiton in the other direction. Carla provided a good range of cereals, fruit, yoghurt for breakfast which set me up for the day.

  • Really nice little self contained annex with two bedrooms and access to west facing sun-deck and garden with view across valley. Ali and her husband John ("J") are super hosts and we found them excellent company, though I am sure they would let you be if you wanted privacy. They property is up a hill about two miles out of Sidmouth so your own car is probably a necessity, especially as taxis can be hit and miss in the evenings. We really loved our stay.

  • Radka & Hayden have created a really nice space with thoughtful and practical touches. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable and a good touch of character. It's an annexe attached to their house but it felt totally private and had everything needed for a short stay. If I'm coming back to the Sidmouth area at any point I'd be keen to stay here again.

    Dan2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant!! Can’t fault a thing. Very clean and great host.

    Darren2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is self contained, with a private entrance and en suite; you access it directly from the driveway on the ground floor. It was spotlessly clean, the bed was very large and comfortable and I loved the rainfall shower. It's not a huge space but was perfect for our needs. The town is a short drive away, but you can get the bus nearby (a three-minute walk) if you're planning to have a drink or don't want to bother with parking and I understand there's a pub within walking distance, although we didn't try it out. (We at at Dukes Inn and can recommend!) We requested the booking very last minute but Radka was unflappable and made it happen for us, despite some technical difficulties with AirBnB - thank you Radka! We definitely wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we are in the area.

  • The cottage is fabulous very clean and welcoming. Fresh flowers and a welcome basket we’re waiting for us. It’s warm and has all the amenities you could possibly want during your stay. Situated in a little village with a lovely local pub, and a local shop & butchers. A little piece of heaven.

  • We had a great stay in Marc's place . The cottage is ideal for a couple ( and dog ! ) and is really well equipped and extremely clean . We recommend the Red Lion pub in the village along with the Donkey Sanctuary just outside Sidmouth . We loved the beaches at both Branscombe and Budleigh Salterton as did our dog Lotti ! Another real plus of the cottage is the ease of getting public transport as the bus stop is only yards from the cottage . We really recommend the cottage and hope to visit again .

  • Lovely cottage in a great location. The place was lovely, very cosy and well equipped for a nice stay. Great place to discover East Devon. The village is lovely for nice walks with the dogs and a great pub for the end of the day. Marc was a good host and everything was perfect. Thanks for all the little touches.

  • Very well appointed cottage in a charming village location. A good base from which to explore the South Devon coast and within easy reach of Exeter. We found the property comfortable and spacious. It was a cosy retreat and almost everything had been provided for. The pub was friendly and barely 30m from the door. Buses stopped at the end of the road and semed very reliable. Parking was on-street and we parked nearby without any problem. The addition of TVs in all bedrooms was a useful extra. The instructions were pretty comprehensive and there was good local knowledge available too. Despite the storm we remained nicely cocooned inside. We will certainly keep the cottage in mind in future and would definitely recommend it.

In a stunning rural location and only 4 miles from the Jurassic coast, The Granary cottage is beautifully equipped with outstanding westerly views over the lawns and tennis court to the surrounding countryside. The heated pool is open from the beginning of May to end of September and is shared with a small number of other guests. Games room, tennis court. Well behaved dogs are welcome and there are lovely walks all around. Historic Colyton is 2 miles away with local pubs, eateries and shops.
Liz and Gordon provide a warm welcome and the cottage is extensively equipped with welcome pack of basic food, household and toiletry items, so you can cut down on your packing. It has a private garden with furniture and barbeque. All linen and towels (two each) are provided. The twin bedroom is quite small for two adults. One bed rolls under the other for one adult occupancy.
Our lovely small town of Colyton is well worth getting to know. It's steeped in history and earned it's name as 'The most rebellious town in Devon' during the Monmouth Rebellion. You can learn a lot by visiting the Heritage Centre in the town.
  • Have just returned from Colyton with my two daughters aged 13 and 10. We had a fantastic break and found the Granary to be cosy and set in beautiful countryside. One of the highlights was watching the stars at night from the bedroom skylights. Great location for exploring the coast. We loved Beer and Lyme Regis. We had a thoroughly relaxing few days and can’t recommend enough !

  • Great cottage in superb location! Liz and Gordon are great hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. Gordon lent us some local walking maps. The cottage (converted granary next to main house) is deceptively large. Nice ground floor sitting room, kitchen with table and bench seats, then a double room and two singles in a further room which our kids loved. We didn’t have great weather when we were there but the cottage was warm and comfortable. There is a small private fenced rear garden but this is just a small part of large well maintained grounds with tennis court and swimming pool (sadly closed as our visit was in October). Our kids enjoyed the games room with table football, pool and table tennis. Lots of parking is available. The location is great - just off a quiet country lane and, the Jurassic Coast is just 4 miles away. We enjoyed fish and chips, fossil hunting, long walks on the beach and local pubs. Thoroughly recommend.

    Simon2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely stay. Perfect for a few days walking. The Granary has everything you could need with lots of thoughtful touches. We would definitely recommend it.

    Alexandra2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Liz and Gordon's place over October half term. They were very hospitable and especially helpful with advice on local walks. Gordon loaned me two maps and also gave us a bag of orchard apples which are delicious! The cottage itself was very well equipped and warm. And the garden, games room and tennis court were a particular bonus.

    Lucy2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • It was the rainiest holiday I’d ever had, but with the outdoor pool and indoor games room there was no cause for boredom. The cottage is situated in a very quiet and peaceful setting with no street lights, so, on a clear moonless night the Milky Way is in full glory. It’s close enough to the coast too, about ten minutes to Seaton and twenty minutes to Lyme Regis; our favourite though was Sidmouth with its charming town centre filled with boutique shops and eateries and only a stones throw from the seafront.

We do not have a garden but you can easily take your four legged friend for a little walk to do his or her business! Sidmouth is generally a dog-friendly town and you will find that most cafes and pubs are generally happy for dogs to have a nap under your table. The main beach forbids dogs from 1st May - 30th September, however Jacob's Ladder Beach allows dogs all year around, as long as you walk 100m along the top of the beach before heading down to the sand. Or simply sit back on the balcony and enjoy the sea view with a tempting tipple and the soothing sound of leather on willow in the background...

This ground floor two double bedroom apartment is situated right on Esplanade with magnificent views to sea immediately opposite. From the sitting room, you can step out on to the terrace and access the beach just across. There is a good sized shower room and the back bedroom (photos to follow after current refurbishment) has its own small shower room and toilet. The kitchen is well equipped - see photos - but of course, this apartment is within 2 minutes walk of all the restaurants and pubs.
This apartment is ideal for two couples or families. There are twin beds in the second bedroom.
Sidmouth is part of the Jurassic Coast and offers wonderful views from the walks up on the cliffs and the Connaught Gardens 2 minutes' walk away. Other lovely walks in the area include The Byes owned and managed by the National Trust and of course, Sidmouth is only about 40 minutes drive from magnificent Dartmoor affording enough walking and exploration to satisfy the most adventurous of holidaymakers. If it's fossils which turn you on, Lyme Regis and all its interesting geological history is about 30 minutes away by car. The county town of Exeter is 45 minutes away and Exeter Cathedral is a must to visit. A part of the charm of Sidmouth is its privately owned, individual shops - there are very few chains - and the personal service which is without parallel.
  • Lovely location, really nice light bright space with loads of room. View straight into sea to watch the surfers or hardened sunday morning swimmers. Joyce and Mike really welcoming and left us loads of handy maps as well. Would stay again.

  • The location of this apartment could not be better - it’s right on the esplanade with a fabulous sea view, yet amazingly quiet. We stayed over new year and the flat was so cosy, as well as spotlessly clean. It’s handy for wandering through the town, walks along the cliffs, on the beach or along the stunning Byes riverside path, and there are some lovely pubs and places to eat nearby. Joyce was warm and welcoming, and all in all we had a wonderful tranquil seaside break.

    Sam2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot for relaxation or for walking, shopping beach time. Lovely situated apartment that looks like it's going to be small and cosy but walk in and it's a lot larger than you'd expect but still cosy. Hosts live next door but never in your way, great Little restaurant nextdoor with great food. Views are great even though your on the ground floor. Plenty for everyone.

    Richard2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant location right on the seafront, lovely to wake up to the view. Lovely comfy accommodation and lovely host. Would definitely like to stay again.

  • Joyce and her husband were incredibly hospitable! The location of the flat is perfect.

    Trevor2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spacious apartment right by the sea! We stayed here as 2 friends and 2 children and there was plenty of room and beds and was better than we actually expected. It was great spending a day at the beach and easy with the kids to pop back for snacks or change and to settle in the evening with the view and sound of the sea. Joyce was a great host and very friendly. We shall return!

    Carla2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Really great location the view is amazing! If you're lucky enough there is free parking just around the corner of the nearby hotel...Beautiful beach

The Corner House is a ground floor 1 bedroom apartment in a perfect location in Budleigh Salterton with private off road parking at the side of the property. It is situated in the heart of the town and a stone's throw from the stunning 2 mile pebble beach. The town boasts a museum, an array of shops, friendly cafés, restaurants and pubs, all on the doorstep. There are many great coastal walks starting from Budleigh itself. Short breaks available. If you have any requests please get in touch.
The apartment is bright, clean and comfortable with a seaside feel to its decor. There is a lovely comfortable lounge/dining room, a fully equipped kitchen with new cooker and dishwasher. The double bedroom is a light and airy space with a comfortable bed with high quality pillows, linen, mattress etc., with lots of storage space. There is a foldaway bed for a third person. In the kitchen there is sugar, tea, coffee, salt and pepper. Washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets are provided. There will be fresh milk in the fridge in case you’re in need of a cuppa on arrival. Cleaning products are kept in the cupboard under the sink. I also supply dishcloths, sponges and tea towels so no worry about packing those. Hand soap is provided in the kitchen and bathroom and toilet rolls. Towels and bedding provided but please bring your own beach towels. There is an allocated parking space at the property. At the back of the property, with access from the kitchen there is a small courtyard which is quite useful in the summer to sit out for a pre-dinner drink or to hang out beach towels etc. Unfortunately this is NOT a dog friendly property as we do not wish to cause issues for guests with allergies.
Beautiful unspoilt Budleigh is situated on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. There are numerous walks along the cliffs and rivers and lots of interesting local towns and villages to explore during your stay. Bicton Park Botanical Gardens....Devon's most magnificent historic gardens, is open all year round and just a 10 minute drive away. They have outdoor concerts with picnics in the summer, definitely worth doing! There are excellent facilities for golfers and croquet players and during the year various festivals take place in and around the local area. You can find details of all events on the internet or Budleigh tourist office website.

Warm, well equipped family home-can accommodate up to 6 people. Private garden to the back and ample parking. 5 min walk to the River Sid and then onwards, through The Byes to the beach in a further 15 min (5 min drive). A lovely base for exploring numerous local beaches along the Jurassic Coast, the Donkey Sanctuary & the whole of the south west by car, bike or public transport. IMPORTANT Please note, straight line distance to the beach is 1.2 miles. Approx 20 min walk or a 5 minute drive
Private enclosed rear garden with private parking on the property in a residential area. Affordable and comfortable accommodation in a very beautiful coastal town. Please note two single beds in bedroom 3 are bunk beds. The property has one bathroom/toilet and it is on the ground floor. Smart TV is catch-up / NETFLIX etc only. We are legally licence free.
We are situated outside the hustle and bustle of the main town but only five mins from all local amenities such as a supermarket, newsagent, chemist, bakers, vet, butchers and recently renovated pub. Only 15-20 min walk to the beach via a stunning riverside park, or if driving the coast is only 5 mins away. If you don't fancy walking then local buses can take you into town in just a few minutes. Our home is situated in a seaside town but is not a beachside property. Please take time to make sure that the location is appropriate for you. Our home is situated on a firendly and busy housing development where Ross grew up. We have family members and close friends living nearby and we love the community feel. Please take time to check that our home is what and where you expect (use g maps). Sidmouth has many options for accomodation each with their pros and cons. If you want a 5 star setting right on the beach then a hotel may suit you better. If you want to feel at home, where you can come and go as you please, don't mind a pleasant walk or short drive / cycle to the beach and living amongst the locals, then our home on air bnb will be perfect for you. We have worked hard to attain superhost status so if there is anything we can do please don't hesitate to ask.
  • Nice family home style house very close to park, playground and river walk which leads into the town and seafront. Supermarket very conveniently close by. Off street parking. Great base for trips into South Devon.

Everything is also sparkling clean. We received a warm welcome and were given amazing breakfasts, which included delicious fresh fruit salad and homemade jam. The dogs are also lovely and very calm and gentle. We would not hesitate to recommend a stay with Carla and Martin. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.

  • A true Airbnb with a comfortable room, lovely breakfast and a pleasant chat with Carla and Martin. We loved their two friendly cocker spaniels too. Perfect rural location for an 'away from it all' holiday. Swallows cabin has stunning views and is very private, with it's own enclosed garden bordering fields in which our horses graze. Ideal couples hideaway with use of heated pool (1st May to end Sept) shared with a small number of other guests, tennis court, croquet lawn and games room. Well behaved dogs are welcome and there are lovely walks all around. There is a small charge of £20 per pet, payable when you arrive.
The cabin is very well equipped and there will be a welcome pack of basic food, household and toiletry items left for your arrival. There is an electric 'log burner' in the living area and two other electric heaters, making it very cosy and well insulated during the cooler months. A side store houses the washing machine, airer and refuse and re-cycling. Free Wifi
The Coly Valley is such a special area and with so much to see and do! Colyton is a delightful small historic town and a Tramway runs from here along the Axe River through the Seaton Wildlife reserve and down to the coast. The East Devon way is accessible about quarter of a mile away and takes you through fields, along the Coly River and into Colyton and beyond.
  • I had a lovely time at Colyton, Liz and Gordon are great hosts. The cabin is great with everything you need and the location is fantastic. Can't wait to go back. Only the wifi was very slow which was a bit annoying, but I can live with that.

    Francesco2020-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely hideaway in rural Devon. A journey down the backgrounds takes you to a lovely oasis of calm. We took our bikes and riding in the area is both challenging and rewarding. Close enough to the sea for a visit and in an area of natural beauty. The cabin has all that you need with good cooking and washing facilities. Don’t go for super fast broadband but has adequate WiFi. If you want to relax and get away this is the place. Great hosts too.

    Jonathan2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Spent 4 nights at this cozy lodge as we were down for the Grizzly. Gordon showed us round and left us to it for our stay, which is just how we like it. We arrived to the fridge stocked with the essentials, which was very much appreciated. Very secluded Lodge with beautiful views and only a short drive to the beach. Thankyou for having us!

    Emma2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very comfortable, clean and warm cabin. Very experienced hosts whom seem to have thought of everything to make a stay perfect.

  • This little cabin was a cosy and quiet little escape for us and our dog. We enjoyed our post Christmas time together and went on many walks in the surrounding area. Comms with the host was good and the place was clean with great waste disposal options! Highly recommend !

  • Such an amazing and magical place to stay come rain or shine! Most luxurious and cosy cabin with everything you need! I could easily live there!!! Beautiful surroundings and the beach is only 10mins drive away. The hosts are lovely people, accommodating and a pleasure to have met. A perfect holiday!!!

    Aimee2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such a peaceful cabin tucked away in a beautiful location with all you could need for a relaxing stay. Great hosts and would definitely return.

    Richard2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Really beautiful scenery! Great hosts and a fantastic Air BnB. We visited on a very cold week and the cabin was able to warm up hot enough for us. Was very quite. It’s really easy to get to loads of fantastic places like Lyne Regis, Beer, Sidmouth and Seaton. Absolutely worth visiting, we would definitely go again. This wasn’t a problem for us, but it’s worth knowing that the Wi-fi was very slow and we had no signal on our phones. Could be a problem for some people. Wasn’t a problem for us!
