  • One of the most charming spaces I’ve ever stayed in. The scenery was wonderful as was the cabin and potbelly stove to keep us warm. The stars were magnificent at night! Note the hot tub hours are 5-10pm if you want to stargaze while soaking. Sia was very communicative and accommodated my last minute booking with ease.

  • This is a cozy little rustic sanctuary tucked into a small community outside of Taos, off the beaten path; a quiet little place to recharge and access local Rio Grande trails. We loved our stay and recommend this spot to other travelers.

  • Great place to stay.

  • Wonderful little neighborhood Airbnb a little outside of Taos. We loved how the location gave the true beauty of New Mexico along with a wonderful site of the stars at night! Cabins are super cute and efficient with a flare of New Mexico added to the room. We came in for the slopes where the drive was only 30 minutes to ski valley. 10/10 would book again!

  • The Taos Goji EcoLodge is a truly special spot. Located on a beautiful goji berry farm tucked away in the Taos foothills, you’ll meet two of the most wonderful and interesting hosts. They welcomed us warmly and we felt right at home. A cozy and beautiful trip to the farm — we’ll be back!

  • Cabin is great! The heating was out but with the propane heater, we never got cold. Everything was clean and ready for our stay.

    Courtney2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place! Would definitely stay again, and would certainly recommend.

    Matt2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Writer’s Cabin was a beautiful place to stay in the mountains! We loved this quaint, rustic cabin and had a wonderful time sitting by the wood burning stove each evening. The space was cozy and had all the amenities we needed. The location was great, too: about 30 mins from Taos Ski Valley, 15 mins from restaurants and bars in Taos, but still situated in the mountains with great views and stargazing. Check-in was a breeze and Sia was quick to respond to any questions. It is worth noting that there are several other cabins clustered right next to this one, including one that shares a wall with the Writer’s Cabin. We unfortunately had a noisy family next door and were woken up around 6:30 each morning by them. Of course this is not the host’s fault! We just felt we had less privacy and quiet than we hoped for. Overall though, this place is fantastic and you will love your stay!

    Katelyn2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful place - very peaceful, lovely cabins in a wonderful setting. Far from the madding crowd but close enough when you want to be part of it! Erica and Sia are very kind, thoughtful hosts. I stayed here for 3 weeks and it felt like home after a couple of days. I didn't want to leave!

    Kate2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is a breath of fresh air. It is very bright and was heated with a wall unit, plus with the option of starting our own fire in the wood burning stove. We were well stocked with fire wood for our week long stay. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but was exactly what we were looking for. Bird watching is fabulous on the property and we were allowed to wander all over their acreage and even feed the chickens with our food scraps. The solar and fire heated hot tub was especially relaxing after our days hiking on nearby trails in the National Forest. You cannot beat the hospitality that we were shown. Truly an all around great experience and we hope to visit again.

This spacious off-grid house borders the Rio Grande National Monument with unparalleled views of Taos mountain coupled with the most beautiful night skies. There is an on-site lockbox for 24 hour check-in at your convenience. Whether you're looking for a home base for a vacation or a place to retreat, this space is perfect for solo travelers, couples, families and large groups. Welcome!
NOTE: This house is a jewel but not for everyone. Please do not choose to stay here if you are simply looking for an inexpensive place to stay. Please read through the description and understand what staying in a rural, off-grid house is like. Please message with any questions or concerns before you book/request booking. This ensures a positive experience for us both. Step out the door from this 800 square foot off-grid dodecagon and enter the Rio Grande National Monument. Or relax in the wood-fired sauna. This is a perfect base for biking, kayaking, skiing or hiking. Great elk and deer hunting is just up the road. There is little out here to distract from the beauty of nature and the quiet and darkness of the high desert and its bright skies. No wifi, no television. A quick 5 minute drive to Black Rock Hot Springs and the Rio Grande River. A 30 minute drive to Taos. 50 minutes to the Taos Ski Valley. Our home has an on-site lock box so you may check in 24 hours at your convenience. This spacious house features a full kitchen (everything except an oven, though there is a stove top) and a bathroom with shower. Filled with natural light, incredible views and very private. There are 2 bedrooms. One has a brand new (7/17) king sized, memory foam top bed while the other has a double bed. The living room has a futon couch that can pull out to an additional double bed. All linens are 100% cotton. The only heat in the home is from a wood stove. It does an excellent job of heating the house, but you will need to be comfortable starting/maintaining a fire (instructions provided). There is no smoking inside the house. Guests smoking outside must be cautious as this is an arid environment. This house is off-grid so you need to be mindful of electric and water use. Please do not use any electronics (except for phone chargers and similar) other than what is provided. Absolutely no hair/blow dryers, toasters or coffee makers (we have an enormous French press for all your coffee needs). Also, there is an oven but please do not use it (a 4 burner stove top is available to use, however). As far as water, please be mindful. Don't let the tap run and don't take unnecessarily long showers. If the toilet runs, please call us as it can drain our water supply rather quickly. Guest access You have access to the entire house, a wood-fired sauna, and the Rio Grande National Monument which borders the property. We have plenty of wood stacked for you for both the wood stove in the house and the sauna. Other things to note We are 5.5 miles down a maintained, graded and plowed county dirt road. Sometimes they take a little while to plow. 4 wheel drive is necessary when there is snow or with very heavy rains (mud).
  • I LOVED the beautiful location and the solitude. It was very comfortable despite being off-grid. The host was responsive and communicated promptly. I'd return in a heartbeat.

  • We had an amazing stay at Peggie’s place. The photos don’t do this place justice! The views are impeccable every which way you look. The kitchen had everything we needed, there was plenty of fire wood, and the cabin was charming and tidy. The drive to Taos Ski Valley is 40 minutes, and you can’t beat the scenery on the drive up. In winter months (when there is snowfall) definitely consider a 4WD vehicle, as the road is dirt and can get very muddy when everything is melted. We will absolutely be back, thanks Peggie!

    Dorian2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a grade A spot to get away! I had a great time unplugging at this wonderful cabin.

    Alexander2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay to get away from the town and traffic. Plenty of wood and fire starter available to keep us warm and the sauna was a huge plus - a fantastic way to end long days of snowshoeing and sightseeing. Would definitely recommend taking the road through the canyon if you have 4WD and aren’t afraid of some tight switchbacks; the views are absolutely worth it. You can’t be the location and value for your money.

    Michael2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • love this place and will return! it is isolated in a beautiful spot outside of Taos. it was great to get away and experience nature, the open skies, and beautiful views. the place itself has all the amenities you need. the sauna was nice and the access to hiking and hot springs was great. Peggie was very helpful.

    Trey2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Peggie was responsive and very helpful with anything we needed! The location was amazing! She had a map and list of activities. Plenty of instructions for the property. The best coffee I’ve ever had! I changed to a French press coffee maker after our stay. The fireplace heats the whole house no problem. The only thing is make sure you don’t get your fire too hot because we were sweating the first night or two while we figured out the best temperature for the fire. Would recommend and will visit again! Definitely visit one of the hot springs.

    Dawn2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Peggie's spot is a snug and warm place to hang in the quiet desert. Beautiful and remote but still close enough to everything we wanted to see.

    Annie2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Peggie's place was exactly what my partner and I were looking for. Life at Querencia is a tranquil adventure! As it says, it is incredibly close to the Rio Grande Gorge. There is a fantastic view of the mountains from all windows in the circular home. We were there in late October and got to watch the snow hanging over the mountains. The weather at that time can be unpredictable, but we witnessed the snow come and completely go within 24 hours! It was magical to experience the variety of seasonal effects :) The sauna is fantastic and we enjoyed watching the stars at night from a tiny window there. The wood burning heater in the home does a great job of keeping the place warm, and even got to be pretty toasty at night. As it says, it is an off the grid situation and you have to be careful with water or electricity usage but we were fine during the 8 days there. The drive to Taos is 30 minutes. We plan to be back we loved it so much! Highly recommended.

  • I had the lovliest time staying at the Goji Eco Lodge. Sia and her husband Eric are so kind and welcoming. I got a chance to meet and spend time with their woofers who are a truly amazing group of people. My cabin had everything I needed and the meals were delicious and to the point. I loved taking pictures of all the beautiful animals and seeing how well they were cared for. Eric and Sia put so much heart into this property- thank you for making Taos an enjoyable and educational place for others! :)

  • This property is amazing! The nature and the stars at night are breathtaking! The interior is cozy and clean. I would definitely recommend a stay at this retreat! You are also given great tips about Taos and the surrounding valley. Just be aware that the second bedroom is quite cold in winter, we fixed this by moving beds by the fire instead. Happy travels

Our handcrafted two story adobe sits on two gorgeous acres. The spacious bedroom upstairs has great light and mountain views; downstairs, there's a comfy living space, galley kitchen, bath & laundry. It's peaceful, quiet & close to hiking trails. We offer a deep discount to guests staying a month or more to pursue a creative project.
The place is perfect for creative work: it's quiet, comfortable, and set in a lovely natural setting with few distractions. (Well, the birds, and the view, and at night the stars…). There's a queen bed that's suitable for one or two, a dining table, a writing desk, and a great couch and armchair for lounging. The other side of the house is a long-term rental with a very quiet, respectful tenant. Separate entrances at opposite sides of the house and separate driveways ensure maximal privacy, but the neighbors you encounter are friendly and informative.
San Cristobal is a beautiful valley village surrounded by national forest. The DH Lawrence Ranch is just up the road, Taos is a 20 minute drive away, and the Taos Ski Valley is 30 miles from here. You can see the Rio Grande wind its way west from the road entering the valley. Hiking trails offer short jaunts or multi-week expeditions: this really is a gateway to wilderness.
  • Summer and her place were all we could have asked for!

    Alison2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I spent three months at Summer’s place in San Cristobal. It’s located in a lovely valley about 20 mins. north of Taos. Coming over the ridge of D.H. Lawrence Rd. and dropping into the valley was a highlight of each day, as was climbing out of the valley and looking across the Rio Grande plateau. The setting is as gentle as it is breathtaking. The house – attached to a larger house but with a private entrance – was compact but extremely comfortable. There was great light and beautiful views towards the mountains to the east. The kitchen, while small, was well equipped (we did a lot of our own cooking). The bedroom, which occupied the entire 2nd floor, had windows on three sides and a lovely double gabled ceiling. There was plenty of hot water and good heat; the space stayed cozy – even on the coldest January nights. The only downside was the steep, narrow stairs leading to the 2nd level (good exercise ). While there was no cell service in the valley, the internet was strong and we were able to organize all of our communications electronically. There is also a land line, with which we used a long-distance calling card. While there was no cable or satellite for TV, a monitor equipped with Google Chromecast enabled us to watch Netflix. Taos, with several well-stocked grocery stores, was close by and there is a convenience mart five minutes away, where the back road connects up to Taos Ski Valley. Our favorite restaurants were all on the north side of town, obviating the need to go into Taos for a meal (although I drove in every day to work at a coffeeshop). Summer was always available by email to answer questions and, while on our own, felt very well looked after. We valued every moment of our stay in this lovely spot and definitely plan on returning.

  • Great experience!

    Lloyd2018-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Summer’s place was beyond amazing. The house is located about 25 mins outside of Taos, buried in the beautiful mountains of San Cristobal. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming when we went on walks with our dog. The property and the view from the house is gorgeous. There are plenty of trails for walking and hiking close by the house. The outdoor bathtub is definitely a plus. Summer was extremely hospitable, accommodating and did everything to make you feel like her home was your home. If you’re looking for a nice place to be away in the woods, bathe outdoors and see the stars, can’t recommend Summer’s home enough. It’s a really special place and will return very soon.

  • After staying here for two months, we want to add to the chorus of incredible reviews for Summer's place. San Cristobal is absolutely gorgeous and has almost an otherworldly feel to it. Summer's place is the perfect introduction to not only the valley of San Cristobal, but also of Taos. Her place is ideal for doing anything creative, but writing especially . We both work remotely, I'm a writer/musician and my partner is an illustrator, and it was wonderful to work in such a bright, quiet and visually stunning place. Summer was an incredible host and even took the time to give me recommendations for writing workshops in Taos. Our experience here was so great that we ended up putting down roots and moving to the nearby village of Arroyo Seco after traveling for the past year. We've stayed at our fair share of AirBnB's, but Summer's place is something truly special. If you're seeking true beauty and solitude, this place is for you.

  • Summer, I want to thank you not just for providing such a beautiful space, but for creating it. I could not have imagined a better place to retreat to for 10 days of writing, meeting people, networking the area, and of course I am still miffed at how you got a full moon to rise over the place the whole time I was there! Best retreat location at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. For any writer! THANK YOU!

This lovely adobe home was once a community store. Now, fully modernized, it has a large open floor plan, a full kitchen, two cozy gas fireplaces, and gated parking. It is close to many outdoor activities: BLM mountain biking, Black Rock hot springs, river access at the John Dunn Bridge, Taos Ski Valley, and numerous hikes. We are only 11 miles to Taos. Star gaze on the back porch, as the night skies get very dark here. Return home to this comfortable, relaxing setting.
The entrance to the house is through a mudroom where skis, bikes, and other gear can be stored. The full kitchen, complete with dishes and cookware, gives you the flexibility of cooking on site. The open floor plan encompasses the kitchen, dining, and living room spaces. There is ample space to spread out and use the house however you want. The bathroom has a beautifully tiled shower, but no tub. The bedroom has a comfortable Queen-sized bed and a cozy fireplace and sitting area. There is a back porch off the bedroom and Adirondack chairs by the front door. Children are welcome but the house is not specifically tailored for children and has not been safety-proofed for small children. Well-mannered dogs are also welcome, but must be crated if left alone in the house. Outdoor activities in close proximity to the house: •2 miles to mountain biking on BLM trails •3 miles to Rio Grande and Black Rock Hot Springs at the John Dunn Bridge •11 miles to Taos •15 miles to Taos Ski Valley •Hiking trails in every direction
The neighborhood is a nice place to walk. The Rio Hondo flows through the Arroyo Hondo valley and is along the road, adjacent to the house. The valley is full of springs and cattails. Nearby properties have horses, cows, sheep, and donkeys. You will see evidence of the wildlife that shares the valley- fish in the Rio Hondo, magpies, ravens, hawks, red-wing blackbirds, raccoons, and skunks. The post office is around the corner. The Midtown Lounge and convenience store is 0.25 miles away on the main road, offering a restaurant/bar, well-stocked incidentals, package liquor, and fresh breakfast burritos.
  • Our stay here was perfect! Close to everything, affordable, clean and cute. It was amazing being able to have my dog there as well.

  • I had a lovely stay at Linnah’s. The bed was very comfortable and the neighborhood was very quiet. The two gas fireplaces make for a lovely ambiance.

    Scott2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Linnah was a wonderful host. It was clear that she has a lot of experience hosting because so many of the questions we had were already answered in her guest manual. Linnah's home was sparkling clean, in a great location, and was perfect for a mini ski weekend at Taos.

    Julia2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Linnah's place is a cozy home, really lovely to spend relaxing time in it to experience the Taos region. We made the most of the location...short drives to skiing, town, and the El Rio Grande del Norte National Monument...perfect spot to take in these awesome areas!

  • This was a very relaxing place to unwind for my night (as I was only passing through) ... So quiet and relaxing ... I lingered around much longer than planned. I loved the fire places and the open space. The kitchen had everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable. The star viewing was amazing. I'm very grateful to have found this place on my (somewhat last minute) search.

    Rana2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • This house is a gem. It has so many comfortable and distinguished touches along with anything that a guest could need. Linnah thoughtfully warmed the bedroom by lighting the fireplace before I arrived and the kitchen is amazingly well appointed. Linnah was a very welcoming host. Sadly my stay was too short and I hope to return!

Fully furnished insulated yurt for the solo traveler to rest and rejuvenate. Full size bed, high speed internet and mini- kitchen. Property is a retreat center landscaped with gardens, flower beds and shaded decks. Nestled in the trees bordering national forest. Great hiking and biking trails outside our door. 10 minutes to Taos ski valley. 20 minutes to Taos plaza. Must be comfortable heating with wood stove, off grid water system, and sharing a bath house. AWD/4WD may be necessary if it snows.
Staying in a yurt is a unique opportunity to experience small living dwelling.
Our land is in a pinon/pine forest bordering national forest with lots of hiking and biking trails out our door.
  • Cozy yurt! Clean and cozy bath house only a few steps away. The retreat had snow still so it was hard to see but it seemed to be an adorable area that a lot of love and creativity has been put into!

    Erika2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • This quiet yurt is the perfect getaway! It has all the modern amenities you could need, but it's easy enough to disconnect from the world as well. I spent my days skiing at TSV (about 20 minutes away), enjoyed the cozy warmth of the wood stove and stargazing through the skylight at night. Can't wait to come back for mountain biking season!

    Leslie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a unique spot with great amenities. There are really loud dogs in the morning that kind of ruin the "out in nature" experience, but that's not the fault of Amani. Everything was great and she was very accommodating. Space was comfortable and warm in the winter.

    Ashwin2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The solo yurt was awesome! Amani was a great host, the location was beautiful, and the yurt was perfect for relaxing after a long day of skiing. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to ski or explore Taos.

    Andrew2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time staying at the Yurt. I came to go skiing for the a few days in a row and was looking for a cheaper option yet still very close to the ski valley. I did not want to pay the high prices to be located right inside the ski valley. The yurt provided an excellent opportunity to do just that. The yurt had everything I needed to enjoy my trip and more. If you're looking for a place just to sleep and ski you came to the right place. This would also be a great place to come and get away from the world for awhile and still have access to everything you could possibly need (ability to cook, bathe, wifi, tv) . Would definitely come back the next time I go skiing

  • We had an awesome stay at Amani & Sage's Solo Yurt. The property is beautiful, and the yurt was very comfortable with a homey feel. The wood-burning stove provided plenty of heat, even with temperatures in low teens. The shared bathhouse was just a short walk from the yurt and was comfortable heated. We didn't run into any issues that overlap from other guests. Amani and Sage have an awesome DVD selection that we made use of in the evenings. There were several inches of snow the day before we arrived and the country roads to get to the property were a little bit rough on our vehicle. We ended up making it to the property and then got stuck in the driveway right after arriving. We brought snow chains with us that despite the sizing chart, did not fit our tires. thankfully, Sage and another guest were kind enough to help us out of the situation, and sage loaned us some tire chains that fit. We went to the ski resort for the day, and Sage was nice enough to start the fire up for us, so it was nice and toasty in our Yurty when we got back. Not only that, but Sage was willing to escort us out to main roads to make sure we didn't have any issues on the way home. We were very grateful for all the assistance that was provided. This was our first Air B&B and it was a good one. We had a great time during our stay. Believe them when they tell you four-wheel drive is needed!

  • One thing to note if driving up to the yurt. You’ll definitely need 4WD* especially after a winter storm rolled through a day prior*. Amani’s directions were spot on. Did enjoy the snowfall and the local shops and food. It was overall an awesome winter snowfall experience. Cage and Amani are awesome hosts. Would highly recommend another trip up to New Mexico

    Joshua2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • It'sa neat little location and cool to experience. Make sure you know how to build a fire, and you'll be nice and cozy. Amani and sage have done a great job with the place, and they're lovely to deal with.

Thanks Guys!

  • This place was EXCEPTIONAL. So many nice little touches made the big picture. Clean, quiet, comfy bed and dining area, beautiful kitchen and bath. And some great little snacks and food for breakfast. Paul met us and recommended some restaurants in town that did not disappoint! My partner and I both received Ayurvedic treatment from Tizia, and I felt I was in India all over again. This hogan is in a quiet area and not to far from Taos. We are very satisfied with the entire stay, and look forward to visiting again soon.

  • Wow! If you are only looking for a place to lay your head then save this place for someone else. But if you want a truly magical space that wraps you in a warm cocoon then look no further. Tizia has created a special space complete with all sorts of spiritually uplifting elements. Next time we are back in Taos we will be staying here without a doubt.

    Monica2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing space. We had everything we needed to cook a nice meal in the kitchen...and a beautiful eating area with a view of the mountain range to enjoy as the sun was setting. Falling asleep ... we could look up and see the stars through the skylight situated right above the bed. There were so many special touches throughout...there is a private back patio to enjoy in a safe country setting. We would hands down recommend this to anyone wanting a unique air bnb experience.

    Cynthia2020-02-22T00:00:00Z

Exit the lodge and walk right on Old State Road 3. Walk past the Taos Goji small log cabins and cross the cattle guard and Taos Goji Ceremony field. You will see a small yellow storage shed and a brown trailer/cabin to your left. Continue up the hill and pass the second brown cabin with a porch until you get to the south of the fence and the property border. The fence turns, and there is a little disguised opening. Walk along that fence line and you will see a trail that leads to the left (north east) behind the brown cabin on the hill. (There may be footprints, ski tracks, hoof prints… It's a favorite of many of us, though it's rare that you'll see anyone.) Follow that trail -- you may have to let yourself through a gate and fence, close the gate behind you -- and it leads to Timber Springs Canyon, a tiny beautiful creek winding among tall ponderosas. If you follow it to its conclusion you'll end in the box canyon; before that, you can climb up to the right (not hard to find a trail) to the DH Lawrence Ranch road above. Then you can turn right on that road and follow it down to its intersection with the main road. Many locals tend to turn around and double back rather than walking up to the Ranch Road if they have limited time; when it's not snowy, the walk takes about 45 minutes. Add the Ranch Road extension and snow and you're probably looking at a good hour plus. San Cristobal Canyon Trail – It can be muddy/snowy/rocky driving to the trailhead, but it is a beautiful trail that will take you as far as you want to go into the wilderness. Drive out of the lodge to the left on the Old State road 3 and then turn right onto Camino del Medio. Continue straight on the same road for a few miles driving toward the mountains. Eventually you will come to a graveled parking area with a clear trailhead sign. The trail leads down into a valley before you start up the canyon. You will cross a creek several times, so wear footwear that can get wet. There are hundreds of trails in the Taos area. There are maps and knowledgeable people in Taos outdoor stores. Please be safe and let somebody know whee you are going and when you expect to be back(URL HIDDEN) The Ridge - Drive left out from the lodge on Old State Road. Pass the Post office and take a left when the road curves. You will pass the Cordova Road. Park on the road shoulder and you will see the forest trail. Keep to your right on the trail. You will come to a cattle fence. Just go on through but be sure to close the gate behind you. When you get to the top of the ridge, turn right and walk as far as you want (you could be gone for days if you are a backpacker). You will be able to see as far as the Truchas mountains above Santa Fe to the south and Guadalupe Mountain and sometimes the Colorado mountains to the north. You can also see the cut of the Rio Grande Gorge to the west and the Jemez Mountains to the southwest. You can turn around and retrace your steps or you can keep on going until you reach a dirt road. Turn right on the dirt road to circle back to San Cristobal. It's probably a little more than 6 miles in all. FLY FISHING The Rio Grande Box offers especially good fishing in the fall for Rainbows and Browns. Moderate to difficult hiking and wading is necessary to fish the majority of the river, though there is some good vehicle access at the John Dunn Bridge and further downstream near Pilar. Choosing to hike into the canyon can offer solitude and better fishing. Wading in the Rio Grande ranges from difficult to downright dangerous. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen and wear a hat. The lower section of the Rio Hondo, 10 miles north of Taos, offers easy river access just before its confluence with the Rio Grande. The upper Hondo runs much faster. There are good holes in this section, but beware of brush along the stream's banks. Browns and Cutthroats will eagerly take dry flies in the warmer months. If you are looking for solitude and slow water, try the Rio Chiquito Little Rio Grande) watershed. Ther are about 50 miles of streams, some areas only 5 o 10 feet wide. Small trout and brazen brush, but some ope areas and beaver ponds for quiet angling. The Rio Pueblo is a good-sized creek in a rugges canyon. The river flows northwest and oxbows Hwy 518 for several miles. There are plenty of good holding areas with some reasonable size Browns and Rainbows. The river scenery is stunning. For more information and possible guides, call Taos fly fishing stores: ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). • Lovely space, very spacious. Great for a group. Animals and hot tub provide a great atmosphere.

  • The owners were very accommodating to our needs and Justin was great, easy to communicate with and even brought us fresh eggs! Would absolutely come back!

  • Sia’s place was wonderful and perfect for our family. We arrived December 24th just in time to prep for our Christmas dinner. The kitchen was very spacious and had everything we needed. The cafe is attached to the house, but it was closed for the season so there was a lot of extra space. The long community table was perfect for all our family meal’s and games. All the rooms were clean, spacious with plenty of fresh towels for all seven of us. They also provided us with a wheelbarrow full of wood for the fireplace AND a couple of fresh farm eggs!!! (I thought this was a very nice touch) The drive to Taos Town is about 15-20 minuets, and Taos Ski Valley 35 minuets. Not too bad of a drive when you have a beautiful scenery!:) The ONLY thing that could trouble some people, is that there is zero reception around the property. My boyfriend and I had no trouble finding the lodge but for some reason parents GPS lost connection/signal and they got lost for a hot minute. Overall, this place is AMAZING!! You won’t regret staying at this beautiful Eco lodge! Trust me. We can’t wait to come back!

  • This was a beautiful and authentic retreat! It was equipped with everything we needed, from an amazing log fire to all the bits and bobs you need to feel comfortable (well equipped kitchen). Set in the peaceful foothills of the mountains it was in easy reach of the local towns like Taos and Red River. I would definitely recommend. We had a great time here.

  • Our host was fabulous. They provided great details of hiking trails, made us feel very comfortable and welcomed. The home was perfect for us and would be great for a family or good friends. We liked that it was close to Taos, and Qusta . We were able to have some time in town, but also be in the country.

  • This is a great cozy cabin which we really enjoyed our time in. We stayed in the winter, and the scenery around as well as the farm and hiking nearby was incredible. The fireplace is great to keep the house warm and the kitchen was fully stocked for everything we needed to make breakfast and dinner. Comfy beds, nice couch, washer and dryer, plenty of firewood. Internet worked great, but no cell phone reception (AT&T). You should know that its about a 20-25 min drive to Taos plaza and there really isn't anything in San Cristobal, but that was great for us as we wanted to get away from it all. If you are looking for a very remote feeling location but still close enough to restaurants, the ski resort, art galleries, etc. and are cool with a quirky rural spot - then definitely book this one!

A private room with private entrance and private full bath. Sleeps four people comfortably. Use the pull-out couch to sleep five. Although the zip code says El Prado, our house is in the Desmontes neighborhood close to the center of Arroyo Seco. Taos Plaza and Taos Ski Valley are both 10 miles away. The one-acre property sits at the foot of the mountains and is lush with gardens, lawns and trees. The river is across the street. We have friendly cats and dogs, but they do not go in the room.
Attached is a semi-private sunroom with dining table, couch, chairs, television, treadmill and table tennis that we do not use when the room has guests .
Just across the street is a trail down to the Rio Hondo and up into the hills. The shops and restaurants of Arroyo Seco are a five-minute drive or 10-minute bike ride away.
  • We stayed for two night while on a ski trip to Taos and had a lovely time. The guest suite has all you need, including comfortable beds and coffee. This is a gem of a place to stay; I would absolutely stay again.

  • Great funky place to stay with friendly hosts in a beautiful location, I definitely recommend. Must love dogs.

    Bernard2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ross and Naty's house was a great fit for us, right between Taos ski area and the town of Taos. It was super clean, and Naty and Ross were great hosts. I would love to come back in the summer to see everything that is growing in their yard, and be able to spend more time in their outside spaces. It was nice to have a coffee pot and electric teapot in our room, even though we were welcome to use their kitchen. Naty was fun to talk to because of all her diverse interests, home cooking, home fermenting, raising chickens, turkeys, and peacocks, and gardening. Those sorts of people are what make airbnb rentals more fun. There were only 2 of us, but the space would have slept 4 comfortably.

  • Great place to stay if skiing Taos. Close to the mountain, clean, comfortable room, hospitable hosts, and very affordable.

    Kevin2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved this space! We had a group of 4 and everything worked out perfectly. Comfy beds, lots of towels, thoughtful snacks and coffee. The dogs are super friendly, and the people too! Great location between the town and the ski area. Would definitely stay here again.

  • We had a good stay here.

    Alejandra2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

  • So glad we decided to stay at the Aldous Huxley cabin! Our host sent super detailed check in instructions and a guide to Taos which was a nice touch. The on-site caretaker Mariam was friendly and helpful and made sure we were well-stocked with fresh eggs from the chickens on the farm (delicious!!). We came in the winter after a nice snowfall and our cabin was cozy with a heater and wood fire stove. The farm is beautiful, and quiet, with animals abound including friendly kitties, a miniature donkey and alpaca family. Perfect for a relaxing weekend. We’ll definitely be back! Thanks for having us!

The casita is 11 miles north of Taos and west of Taos Ski Valley, 6 miles northwest of Arroyo Seco...it is surrounded by pinon, ponderosa and juniper 1.8 miles up a community dirt road in Valdez. AWD or 4WD is a must in winter. It is cozy and quiet and offers a great place for rest, adventure or creativity. Forest service roads and single track trails within walking distance. Since there are no city lights, the patio with chiminea offer the perfect spot for watching the night sky.
Although the casita is 450' square feet there is a full kitchen.
  • Great spot near the ski valley. Janet was super helpful leading up to our stay and very responsive while we were there. Definitely would book again.

  • The house is so cute! We enjoyed our stay! The roads to and fro are no joke in the winter! 😅

  • This place is great. The bed is big and very comfortable. We never had any issues with it being too cold in fact I woke up and had to turn the heater down because it was too hot. Shower worked great better than I expected. Everything was very clean. I shoveled out the fenced in area but didn’t mind doing it at all (the entryway was shoveled). There’s a cool little fire place in the fenced in area that was a nice touch. Once its dark there’s a very small amount of light pollution so we took awesome pictures of the night sky with our Nikon D850. Its up a dirt road but that’s where I prefer to be in a vehicle anyways. Great spot to stay and would stay again!

  • My boyfriend and I spent the weekend at Janet’s Casita and we had a wonderful time! Located just a short 15 minute drive from downtown Taos and only about 20-30 minutes from the ski valley it was close to everything but still provided the private and remote vibe we were looking for. We had a great time doing some hikes from the house and Janet left a great book of detailed hiking recommendations! We will definitely be staying here again if we come back to Taos!

Two-story guesthouse nestled in the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Perfectly situated 20 minutes from historic Taos and 15 minutes from Taos Ski Valley. Newly renovated 1 bedroom, 2 bath with all the amenities, including hiking trails out your door. Queen bed, and sofa bed in master bedroom and sofa bed upstairs make it ideal for two couples or a couple with children...or better yet a romantic getaway for two with working wood stove and 360º views of the Valdez valley and the surrounding mountains.
New construction, just completed. Radiant heat flooring throughout with multiple zones. Lovingly furnished with antiques and just enough character to not compete with the splendor outside your door. Fall asleep with the milky way over your head and the sound of flowing water in the river below.
Valdez Valley is one of the most picturesque lush valleys in northern New Mexico. A historically Spanish settlement with the rio Hondo flowing through it and an active acequia system. Private setting with easy access to all that northern New Mexico offers. We sit at 7,500 feet.
  • I cannot explain how amazing this place was and waking up to see the beautiful backdrop of the mountains was great. From the check in to the check out everything was smooth and the house had everything we needed. We will definitely be back.

  • We truly enjoyed ourselves at the Valdez Vista for our Best Friend Trip. The location was perfect, views were beautiful, and the house itself could not have been better. We drank coffee on the balcony that overlooked the mountains while wrapped in blankets and the upstairs shower has an unreal view! Per host suggestion, we hiked to Williams Lake, located right at Taos ski area - it was so close by and the exact type of hike we were looking for. Oh - and the floor is heated! The fireplace was so nice at night. We were able to cook our meals and enjoy time together with our favorite dogs stress-free.

    Ashley2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What an amazing place - so thoughtfully designed to emphasize views, privacy and immersion in nature. A really stylish, comfortable space with tons of thoughtful and artistic touches, and truly kind and welcoming hosts. I loved sitting outside soaking in the quiet, stunning views, birds and critters! The sunsets and night skies are something to behold. I’ll definitely return.

    Anna2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • The location is wonderful: in a small village halfway between Carson National Forest and Taos. Ten minutes to Arroyo Secco. Lots of hiking to be had and you’ll feel like a local when you stay here. I hope to go back again soon.

Fully insulated furnished yurt nestled in the trees with full size bed, fully equipped kitchen, BBQ/porch, high speed internet, dish TV. Borders national forest. Hiking/biking trails out our door. Must be comfortable heating with a wood stove and sharing a bath house with guests from other yurts on our property. Perfect for single occupancy retreat or a couples weekend get away. 10 minutes to Taos Ski Valley. 20 minutes to Taos Plaza. Well maintained dirt road that may need 4WD/AWD if it snows.
Staying in a yurt is a unique opportunity to experience a small living dwelling in a quiet, peaceful retreat setting in the woods.
We live up a dirt road in a pine/pinon forest on the border of national forest with lots of great hiking and biking trails.
  • I was looking to do some glamping, and wow! Amani's yurt was both rustic and completely comfortable. The wood stove is a wonderful feature, though the yurt does get chilly at night (mid-40's to low 50's) after the fire goes out. A winter storm came in while I was there (late October), and I was still toasty warm under the pile of comforters. For an inexpert fire-maker like myself, Sage gave a great tutorial on check-in and made sure I was comfortable using the wood stove, and then I loved being able to sit in front of it and watch the fire during the day. There's also a collection of movies and popcorn to come home to when you want to cozy up and veg out. It's quiet, in the trees, with a view of the sky through the skylight -- a wonderful retreat. I would definitely stay there again.

  • This place felt like a cozy nest. Very well supplied with thoughtful touches - like many good teas, spices to cook with, good knives, and a good overview manual. You can take a hike right from the front door. One pointer: be sure to read their written directions. Google Maps will only take you so far. Location was remote but only a 20-30 min drive to most destinations. Great value!

  • This has been one of our favorite places we have ever stayed. So relaxing and quiet. Amani was so kind and knowledgeable about Taos. We will be back soon.

  • This property is just gorgeous and such a value for the price. The grounds were beautiful and the yurt was fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. You can see the love, care, and attention to detail put into both the yurt and the land. Amani and Sage are super nice people and great hosts. Cant recommend this property enough. Super stay. 😀❤️👍

The Duck House Cabin is located north of Taos in the valley of Arroyo Hondo and sits right next to our pond and the Rio Hondo. Our home is on the property along with another Airbnb but far enough for privacy. The cabin does not have Wi-fi. We don't have a cleaning fee so the price is set as advertised. We also give our guests a $20 gift certificate to our cafe Orlando's New Mexican cafe.
The Cabin is not set up for full on cooking but has a small fridge, hot tea maker, toaster, microwave, electric skillet, blender, utensils, ice, coffee, tea, creamers, sweeteners. The cabin has an outdoor shower with a biodegradable soap. Towels are provided. The Chemical toilet is next to the parking area about 50 yards away. You can make a camp fire next to the pond, there will be fire starter in the tin bucket. To help keep the cabin affordable for everyone we ask to do the dishes and pile all linen and towels in a sheet. Thank You.
We are located north of Taos down in the valley of Arroyo Hondo. Very quiet with horse and cattle green pastures and lots of deciduous trees. We are 5 minutes to the Black Rock Hot Springs on the Rio Grand River and John Dunn bridge and just down the road is New Buffalo where they filmed parts of "Easy Rider".
  • This place is super cute and nice and quiet. Perfect for a couple to get away.

  • The Duck House was a fun experience. It was close to the places we wished to visit - the Rio Grande Gorge National Monument, the the John Dunne Bridge, and the Black Rock Hot Springs. It was also convenient to getting to Taos. The house is extremely clean, the location and view were very nice. The hosts, Yvette and Orlando were responsive and made sure that it was easy for us to find the house. The day we arrived was quite warm, Yvette made sure that the windows were open so that the house was aired out and ready for us. Thank you.

  • What a delightful AirBnB! Waking up with the sunrise, coffee on the porch, a nice morning shower al fresco... We were in Taos over Labor Day weekend for a concert and the town was bursting at the seams. It was so nice to be able to escape and come back to the Duck Cabin after a long day. You're out in the countryside here and the peace and quiet is wonderful. Taos is just down the road and Arroyo Seco isn't but a 10 minute drive along a quaint back road. Yvette and Orlando's cabin is perfect; cozy, very clean and quiet. We met Diesel and his little puppy friend our last morning. They just appeared at the door and are both so sweet. Get ready to dole out the belly rubs. You can't go wrong with a stay at the Duck Cabin. Two thumbs up!

  • We had such a great time at the Duck House! The little cabin truly felt like a home away from home, and waking up to that gorgeous sunrise over the mountains is something that truly can not be beat. There is nothing that Orlando and Yvette didn’t think about while creating an amazing place to stay. It was secluded yet still close to Taos and other great hotspots. Also, Orlando’s restaurant is AMAZING!!

    Aidan2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay at the Duck House! Beautiful little house, beautiful views! The sounds of the running water provided excellent sleep. Loved the outside shower... hot water, private and roomy. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Diesel the dog is adorable (we love him). The hosts’ restaurant is a must stop... delicious!! We’re ready to go back to the Duck House for sunrise coffee on the front deck!

    Joe2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The location is great, very little traffic on their road and the sound of the water flowing through the duck pond masks the occasional car that drives by anyway. This place has a really great vibe, peaceful spot to hangout, beautiful spot to wake up to in the morning.

  • If you’re going to stay in northern New Mexico it needs to be here! Awesome and unique experience in the Earthship. It was so peaceful and quaint. Definitely recommend finding it while the sun is still up but can’t wait to come back!

  • What an incredible space. So much to do in the area, but also a great place to hunker down and spend time with friends.

  • Wonderful views, beautiful lodging. Very helpful and communicative hosts. Would definitely stay again!

  • Our group of 4 had a great time at Adrienne’s earthship. We would highly recommend for anyone looking to visit Taos, ski in the valley, or just get away from it all.

    Mark2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • The earthship is an incredible place to stay just outside of Taos. The neighborhood and views were so beautiful. (It’s ideal to arrive before dark the first time to find the way on the road off the main highway). The fireplace was lovely but wasn’t necessary as the home warmed up so much during the day. We had everything we needed to cook and the wifi was available (though we did not have cell reception). Highly recommend a stay to experience this beautiful and cozy space.

  • This place was awesome!!! Location is so peaceful & beautiful. The home is comfortable & unique. If your looking for something a little different & extra-ordinary this is the spot!!! We loved everything about it& hope to visit again!!!

    Kerry2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the Earthship - it was everything we hoped it would be and more. It's a little hard to find on a branch off a branch of a side road but the directions were great. Once there it is really quiet and idyllic. Our family of three had a great time sitting by the fire and playing games from the game cabinet. The downstairs bathtub / shower is amazing with a wonderful view! It snowed while we were there and we did not rent a four-wheel drive, so my only advice to those reading this is - if coming in winter, bring a car that is good in snow. This stay was among our most favorite AirBnB trips. Thank you Adrienne and especially to Tom and his family, the caretakers who helped us out when we needed a hand.

The hot tub was the best way to stargaze and then cozy up inside on the couches to a lovely fire. The whole experience made us want to get back there as soon as possible! Tammi was such a lovely host and gave us fantastic directions and suggestions for adventuring around. Incredible stay all around.

Open kitchen and living area, porch and outdoor seating allow you to enjoy the beautiful sunsets, and starlit skies. We love living outside of town because it is quiet and peaceful, but yet we are only 20 minutes to town and 35 minutes to skiing. We have the convenience of Midtown Market if we need anything without the drive to town. It’s only 5 minutes away.

  • A.O. and his wife Jennifer were amazing hosts. We had home made sour dough bread when we arrived and the pets were friendly. The location was great for some R&R away from the noise. We had dinner with them in their home with their family they were simply amazing. Highly recommend this home to anyone that wants to get away.

  • Their home was perfect for us - very clean and had everything we needed and more. Excellent hosts!!!

    Greg2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great for families who want to get away and be isolated from civilization. The drive up can be tricky, specially with snow and ice on the roads, but nothing to worry about, and in fact is an addition to the whole experience. The place itself is very nice, clean, and comfortable. A.O. not only cleaned our early morning after snow had fallen overnight, but he also gave us some of his home-made bread for us to complement our Christmas dinner with. There was a minor issue with the water heater which was quickly pointed out, and shown how to resolve in case it happened again, and which was not an inconvenience at all. Very secluded place, very quiet, wonderful views. Would definitely go back.

    Elibet2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was amazing. Honestly speaking the pictures don’t do justice outside and inside. The hosts were quick to respond with questions. The room was a lot bigger than we stay in pictures, and it was obvious how freshly clean it was. We were thrilled to see that ample soap and towels were provided. It is very possible to stay there for multiple days at time. We definitely would have if we were not headed out of town. Highly recommend !!

    Trevor2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here while I came down from Colorado to ski at Taos Ski Valley. Karina's place is kind of off the beaten path, literally, but her directions made it simple to find! You definitely need good winter tires if the road is snow covered...I have a Mazda 6 with Blizzak tires and made the trek up her road just fine. :) As for the rental itself, it's very cute and spacious, bigger than I expected by looking at the photos prior to! What I loved most is the bedroom being on the 2nd level with mountain views out each window, the rooftop deck is a great spot to view the starry sky from, and the jacuzzi tub even had amazing views too! Karina takes great care of this place, it was spotless upon my arrival, and I loved the personal touch of live plants/flowers inside the rental and a bowl of fresh fruit on the table. The only downfall was that there wasn't enough hot water to fill the jacuzzi...I had plenty for a hot shower the day before, but the tub only filled 1/3 of the way before the water went cold (a personal note left on the table did somewhat describe & warn of this problem with the hot water tank, though). Other than that, the location was great, only 20 minutes to the ski valley and I appreciated that she allowed my dog to stay as well! Thanks again!

    Danielle2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Karina’s place was clean and very spacious located right in the middle of the ski valley and downtown Taos. Karina was very responsive, and we had a great stay!

    Lucas2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Karina’s place is very spacious, a lot larger than it looks on the pics yet cozy, organized and clean. It has a lot of light and very comfy furniture. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics. The master bedroom is huge, comfy bed and an awesome master bath with a walk in shower and a bath tub. There is a terrace on the top floor that we didn’t use because it was winter time but looks like a great spot to hang out in warmer months. Karina was a great host. She greeted us upon arrival, communicated very well before arrival, timely and with clear instructions on how to get there, and made herself available in case we needed her. I hope her place is available next time we’re headed to Taos NM. Great stay.

These are called acequias and the laws surrounding these date back to the Spaniards. D.H. Lawrence ranch where Frieda and D.H. • If you’re looking for a quiet, secluded, farm stay, this is the place for you! It’s not for everyone. Be comfortable with getting in touch with the outdoors. We loved visiting with the alpacas in the morning and we were even given farm fresh eggs to cook for breakfast! Our cabin was great. There was plenty of natural light and the room was quite spacious. We lit the oven on colder nights, but the heater did just fine! We loved it, and so did our pooch!

  • Poet's View was a perfect get away. We loved the wood burning stove, not to mention the nature views ❤️

    Paige2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what a great place to find your center in life. The poets view room is very comfortable, cute, and uttely charming. Kitchen was very functional. The wood stove makes it toasty when the temp drops outside. Provided you know how to start a fire. But dont fret if you are entry level to fire; instructions are provided. There is wifi in the room. No TV; which is perfect for the fealing of the place. For entertainment I read a book (provided)and the instructions that come with the wood burning stove (prominently displayed in a binder on the table.) Now if you still dont feel confident making fire; callJustin, hes rumored to be top of his field in fire building. There is ample country quiet. I especially enjoyed the Sunsets and moonset being visable from the room. The farm has animals, space to roam free, and beautiful scenery. Loved the time we spent here. Oh and let me just say, The hand soap is amazing. We will definitely come back.

  • Our stay at the Taos Goji Ecolodge was exactly what we'd been hoping for: a relaxing retreat away from city life and a chance to recharge. We stayed in the Poet's View cabin and it was comfortable and clean with beautiful views and seating areas at front and back--although we sat on the barn veranda each evening to watch the spectacular sunsets and sometimes chat with Eric and Elizabeth or other guests. The cabin kitchen and bathroom are small but functional and we had no trouble cooking in the evenings. The farm itself was lovely for exploring and the highlight for us was getting to hang out with the animals--four alpacas, two dwarf goats, two sheep, Dora the donkey, chickens/turkeys, and a few cats (we fell in love with the two very friendly kittens). If you're not animal lover or used to a farm environment this might not be the place for you but we absolutely loved it. It was also interesting to chat with Eric and Elizabeth about the history of the place and meet some of the volunteers working on the farm. It's a great location to explore the Taos area. A fairly short drive into Taos, which is a mass of art galleries and other interesting stores, lots of hikes in the mountains (we did a beautiful hike from Taos Ski Village up to William's Lake), and so many other great places to visit: Taos Pueblo, and the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, the earthship community, and the highlight for us doing a day hike with llamas in the mountains with Wild Earth Llama Adventures. We loved the Ecolodge and very much hope to return.

  • Such an adorable farm! Very Taos in decor and feel. Our kids had a blast wondering around the farm. Absolutely spectacular sunsets and the cabins were clean, cute, updated and had everything we needed for our short stay.

[please note: this is a new listing but your hosts have years of experience as 'superhosts' on other properties] Your 6 acres directly borders millions of acres of public lands; walk there on your personal 'blue ribbon trail' .... without crossing private property 25 minutes to Taos Plaza; Taos Ski Valley; Red River Ski Valley Pets welcome This recently built tiny house has all of the modern conveniences of a modern efficiency studio (with one exception, see below).
Your tiny house includes: -- “On the grid” community “treated” water supply -- 110 – 220 V electric from utility company -- Grey water drain system -- Full size hot water heater -- Electric heat -- Electric range oven -- Microwave -- New washing machine + clothesline outside -- Reliable internet (fast enough for streaming)/ etc -- Complimentary coffee, tea -- Queen size bed -- Hot/ cold showers -- Large storage shed for your gear -- Gravel deck (partially covered in summer) -- Two mini fridges inside -- One huge chest freezer outside ! However, please note that there is no septic tank, so the indoor toilet is pee only! (We decided against a 'composting toilet' inside the tiny house because of odor issues). However the outhouse -- 50 yards away -- is quite nice we have been told.
  • Awesome experience! We stayed for 5 weeks. Very relaxing, private, quiet, beautiful landscape, and amazing views from bed! Stars are incredible on clear night. Utilized the trail on property and at the top of the hill easily. Great for dogs with lots of friendly neighborhood dogs around. Kitchen in tiny house is perfect, we did most dining in, nice big sink! Brady was a great host, very accomodating and thoughtful!

  • This is the best Air BnB I've ever stayed in. The house is beautiful, clean, and packed with cozy items. It has everything you'll need for a weekend away, or an extended stay, and Brady is an incredibly thoughtful host. He graciously let me check in early- my drive wasn't nearly as bad as I expected and I dropped in on him early. It's in a beautiful location and the perfect alternative to the expensive ski resort rooms for anyone heading to Taos to ski. I can't recommend it enough, I loved the tiny house living arrangement, and hope to come back again! Also, Brady has a very sweet dog who came to visit from time to time and was such a ball to play with.

  • Brady's Tiny House was outstanding. My husband and I have always wanted to try one out and this one had everything you could possibly need considering the space - we were very pleasantly surprised. Brady was an excellent host who was easy to communicate with and answered all my questions. Our dogs were welcome as well and really enjoyed all the space to roam around. We look forward to visiting again!

  • This is a really cool tiny house, in a great location, and at a very reasonable price. I got the best sleep I've had in months during my stay here. I booked the house for 1 week in mid-December, during early winter, and had no trouble keeping warm with the provided space heaters (plus, there was always hot water for a good shower). There are two mini-fridges provided inside the house, and a large deep freezer outside, all of which collectively provide substantial room for food storage. A large, lockable storage shed is also provided, which is big enough to store multiple mountain bikes, ski/snowboard gear, hunting gear, etc. For a couple of people looking to adventure/explore in the greater Taos area, this tiny house is perfect! Do bring a pair of decent walking shoes/boots, as the short walk to the outhouse (30 yards) is down a rocky hill behind the house.

The Huxley Cabin is located atTaos Goji Eco Lodge and Farm Retreat. Nestled in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains and surrounded by national forest. These quaint, historic log cabins and casitas are in close proximity to Taos (11 miles) and the Taos Ski Valley and Red River (ca: 20 miles). We are surrounded by national forest and a small river flows from the mountains and into part of the village. Part of an eco lodge, this cabin sits on 40 acres among seasonal creeks, ponds, aspens and cottonwood trees and organic berry orchards. The farm has great views of the mountains. It's a great space to kick back in, write, paint, hike on the nearby trails or take walks, fish, mountain biking or go cross country skiing. The dark skies are great for star gazing. Within driving distance are opportunities for lama trekking, horseback trails, hot air ballooning and natural hot springs are within driving distance. We are dog friendly, no cats please due to allergies. Please check if you would like to bring more than one dog. Pet Rules: Please keep your pet off furniture and attended at all times on the property. Pick up after your pooch and keep your dog on a leash on our land. If you leave please crate your dog in the cabin, granted s/he doesn’t get anxious and disturb the neighboring guests. We do have a small farm cafe, generally opening on Memorial Day and closing on Labor Day. We also serve pastries, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, yoghurt, berries and fritata for a suggested donation. We also offer a farm breakfast at 8am and a farm lunch at 1:30 am Monday to Friday with out wwoofers (willing workers on organic farms) for an extra fee. Please give us 24 hours notice. A seasonal vegetable garden and chickens provide produce and fresh ranch eggs to renters. A play ground is available for families with children. San Cristobal is a small village and our eco lodge was built at the turn of last century. Aldous Huxley lived and wrote in our cabins and we found water colors from D.H. Lawrence and letters to the publishers from Frieda Lawrence in the attic of one of the cabins. Aldous Huxley is said to have helped build the outhouse as there was no plumbing when he stayed in the cabins. Taos Ski Valley reminds us of the Swiss/French/Austrian founders' roots blended with the traditions and customs of the local Hispanic and Pueblo Indian cultures. Being the home of extreme skiing, this is just not a resort for experts, with many beginner and intermediate runs. The ski school is one of the nation's best. It also has an excellent children's day care and ski facility, both skiers and snowboarders are welcome. Taos is home to more than twenty sites on the National Register of Historic Places. The Taos Pueblo has been occupied for nearly a millennium and is considered to be the oldest continuously inhabited community in the Unites States. The Taos Pueblo was added as an Unesco World Heritage Site in 1992 as one of the most significant historical cultural landmarks in the world; There are many ways to explore art in Taos. Taos is an old art colony since 1899. Some of the artists' studios have been preserved and may be viewed by visitors. Many of the historic sites are homes and studios of artists, including the Mabel Dodge Luhan House,Eanger Irving Couse House and Studio, Joseph Henry Sharp Studios, the Leon Gaspard House, the Couse/Sharp Historic Site and the Ernest Martin Hennings House. On Ledoux Street, just south of the Taos Plaza, are the Ernest L. Blumenschein House and Harwood House. There are three Art Museums in Taos: Harwood Museum of Art, Taos Art Museum and Millicent Rogers Museum that provide art from the pueblo Native Americans, Taos Society of Artists and modern and contemporary artists of the Taos art colony. The town has numerous art galleries and there are several houses of the Taos Society of Artists.
Overview San Cristobal is an old village nestled in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains with around two hundred families. It is about eleven miles from our property to the outskirts of Taos. It is 23miles to Taos ski valley, and Red River Ski are 22 miles away, about 25 minutes travel time. Some of the families in our valley date back several hundred years. San Cristobal is surrounded by national forest and there are several scenic hikes close to our property. The San Cristobal creek runs through the valley and many of the gardens are watered by the ditches, diverted from the mother creek. These are called acequias and the laws surrounding these date back to the Spaniards. D.H. Lawrence ranch where Frieda and D.H. Lawrence lived and are now buried is also located in San Cristobal, five miles from our property. Lama Foundation is a commune and spiritual community, dating from the sixties. It is located on Lama Mountain, 8.3 miles from San Cristobal, about fifteen minutes. Lama Foundation is best known for the book "Be here Now" written by Ram Dass who used to live at Lama Foundation. Visitors are welcome and can partake in the many workshops, summer dinners (donations accepted) Sufi dancing and Sabatth. Thanksgiving dinner is open to the public (donations recommended).
  • Wow! Staying at the Goji farm was the most unexpected, delightful experience, and we had a wonderful time being in the cabin itself, on the incredible grounds, and in the surrounding village as well as in nearby Taos. Everything about the stay was easy, convenient, and utterly charming, and we're so grateful for the opportunity to stay here and have a fully connected, tuned-in long weekend. Highly, highly recommended, and we'll be back!

  • The Huxley cabin was great! It was fun building a fire every night and the electric heater also kept us warm. Miriam was great and would drop off fire wood during the day to make sure we had enough. The cabin is the perfect size. Just a short 20 min straight drive up from Taos Pueblo and 35 mins to Taos Ski Valley. We would stay here again.

  • Had such a blast in the cabin! The Doris Day & the Don were huge hits!

    Patrick2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic cabin, everything we needed for a night. Heat pump struggled to keep up when it was -13, but the hosts provide 3 other methods of heat, so you’re well covered. Slept great, two adults, two kids. 30 min drive to taos ski valley ski village. Made it easy to get in for lessons at 9am. I’d plan to leave at 7:15-7:30 to give yourself enough time to pickup lift tickets and rental equipment if you have lessons at 9am.

  • The cabin is nice and the hosts are amazing. Sia and Eric were always attentive to our needs. I am especially grateful that they opened their house and made themselves known, I think that is the original sense of Airbnb.

  • Cute cabin exactly as pictured and explained to be. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

  • The cabin is charming and nestled on a farm with other cabins, cottages, and various getaway spots. It has all the making of a high end retreat without ever being pretentious or stuffy. Eric and Elizabeth are so lovely and accommodating, ready to answer any questions about the area or help make our stay more comfortable (my friends and I were complete failures lighting our wood stove the first night haha! thank goodness Eric stepped in and gave us a crash course). I hope to go back to the Goji farm in the near future and explore what other spaces it has to offer <3 thank you once again for the phenomenal stay!

  • Our stay in the Huxley cabin was excellent. The space is well appointed and stylish. We appreciated the full set of pots, pans, coffee machine and cutlery. The temperature dropped below freezing in the night but the wood stove kept us perfectly warm. Ample firewood was available (and appreciated)! The forced air heater was available, though we found the stove was more comfortable. The property is awesome and we enjoyed the nearby hike through the pines. We loved our stay on the farm and will definitely return in the future. Thank you for creating and cultivating such a beautiful experience!
