  • This B and B is a stones throw from Eilean Donan and an excellent jumping off point to the Isle of Skye. There are petrol stations near by however, there is a lack of options for dining. Unfortunately the pub owned by the B and B was closed for the remainder of the year however there is a small hotel restaurant 1 min away. Don’t let this deter you, excellent space!

    David2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great location near the Eileen Donan castle on the way to Skye. The room was very clean and warm, which was much appreciated after driving in the storm.

    Arafath2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • The village is so delicious and the room perfectly clean and tidy. The breakfast is very good and Vivienne is a very attentive host. I really felt at home.

    Arianna2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this B&B! It’s small and cozy and in a perfect location. In close proximity to the Eilean Donan Castle so you can visit in the daylight and go back to see it lit up at night. The Clachan Bar was shut down for the season, but we were able to grab a bite to eat at the Dornie Hotel right next to us. The food was superb! Vivienne supplied our room with goodies so when we showed up our first day starving, we had access to croissants, meat and cheese right away. Toast, cereal, juice and milk were the right start the next morning. We spent one night because Dornie is so close to Isle of Skye. We spent the next night on Skye then returned to the Clachan B&B for a second stay. Great choice...just like seeing an old friend. You won’t regret staying here!!!

    Tracy2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was great. Comfy bed and the extra touch of breakfast food and tea/coffee in the room. As we went to Dornie in the off-season, there wasn't much in the way of breakfast restaurants and it was perfect to have something to eat in the room before we headed off to Skye. I'd recommend staying here.

  • The place is very nice, near eilan castle. The bed is Nice. The breakfast is Perfect.

  • I was staying here as I was performing at a wedding at nearby Eilean Donan castle. This little B&B was great. Very private, spotlessly clean and made even more ideal by the fact that there’s a little fridge and kitchen appliances in the room, so people like myself who are unsociable at breakfast don’t have to stray far from bed to eat. I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

    Rich2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a night's rest. Vivienne was great and had arranged what was required for us. Special place for us.

    Vigneshwaran2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • The room was spotless, warm and great value. Provided free wifi was also very useful. Ideally situated in the centre of the village for the shop and pub (hotel) Breakfast provided with lovely fresh orange juice/ cold meat/ cheese and bread. Cereal was also available. Would definitely stay again.

    David2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • All excellent. Very clean room, good communication. I would definitely go again.

    Mario2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Vivienne’s place was perfect for one night. Easy to find with the directions and to check in. Unfortunately the pub across the street was close but we had dinner at the Dornie hotel just on the other side of the road. The continental breakfast is prepared in advance and mostly made of industrial products but still generous. We really appreciated the location, only 10min walk to Eilan Donan castle !! We would recommend staying here!

    Marion2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice bed and breakfast in a great location in Dornie. The location is within walking distance of the Eilean Donan castle. Place is cozy and clean with very fast internet. Communication with the host was very prompt and Vivienne was very hospitable. Unfortunately, the Clachan Pub was closed for the season but dinner at the Dornie Hotel was great.

Ratagan has views of the 5 Sisters of Kintail, Morvich, and Eilean Donan Castle, in the distance, from the shore. It has a playing field and children's play park. • Cosy, homely upstairs appartment. Good kitchen and family table in spacious sittng room. Bread and milk are a kind touch. Fancy chocolates are a treat!

    Ruth2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place situated just off the beaten path. The views in the morning are stunning, and the space is large and comfortable for those that stay. They do provide some extra amenities in the fridge to help for preparing breakfast or such for yourself in the morning. Take care to understand how the water heating works as you do need to wait a little bit after you start it. It’s also possible to “run low on the hot water if everyone is showering one after another. Just something worth keeping in mind for anyone not used to that while visiting Europe. Fantastic little place to stay and highly recommended for people wanting to stay in the Scottish Highlands! Oh and their son Finaly has his own chocolate shop next door, so be sure to try a bit of that slice of heaven too!

    Kevin2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • The views and location are simply stunning! Fiona and Lewis are fantastic hosts, really friendly and communication was excellent. The apartment is a perfect base to explore the idyllic surrounding areas of Kyle of Lochalsh and Isle of Skye. The apartment is clean and cosy and has everything you need. I would highly recommend and I will be back again soon.

    Laura2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The surroundings around the house are amazing, unbeatable views! The house is cozy and clean, the hosts are lovely. I would recommend it without a doubt!

    Eneritz2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We are group of young people from Indonesia who live in the UK for several years now. We visited Fiona's place during Christmas winter. Fiona's place is immaculate. She is so helpful and kind. She asked us for ETA a day before our arrival. She ensured that we know our way to find the property. When we arrived, the weather was not very kind to us. But Fiona was so helpful and quickly help us. She brought us some umbrellas and helped with bringing our bags to the property. She prepared everything we need, such as slippers, towels, toiletries, and even some continental breakfast and complimentary chocolates from Chocolates of Glenshiel. We really love the chocolates. Unfortunately when we checked-out the shop is not yet open. So, we can't buy it in store. Fiona responded to queries very swiftly. She provided us with some useful information such as, nearby shops and petrol stations. We were really feeling like at home. Fiona's property is really spacious and cozy. We definitely recommend it to everyone.

  • Far too short for our stay , but long enough to experience an authentic air b and d stay. Fiona and Lewis offer genuine hospitality in a home with a very close encounter with the “five sisters” not to mention the friendly visit with their pot belly pigs.

Lovely double room in a house with a beautiful loch side location. In a stunning location surrounded by mountains, lochs and forests. It is great for couples or friends. Perfect for walkers and sightseers. An ideal place to relax and unwind. Buffet breakfast including teas, coffee, toast, fruit juice, yoghurts, cereals, fruit salad, croissants. I also cook eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes or porridge if you would like something hot.
Welcome to use the lounge area.
  • We had a wonderful stay here- lovely, warm home with gorgeous views of the loch. Sarah Jane and Steve were so friendly and helpful- and breakfast was extremely tasty and filling. Would definitely recommend- made a great stop for us on the way to Isle of Skye.

  • Best AirBnB Experience ever.

    Ryan2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • OMG, do yourself a favour and just book. Sarah-Jane is a Super Super-Host. Our room (gorgeous) along with Breakfast (delightful) overlooked the Loch, what could be more spectacular than that. People say ‘a hidden gem’ & a ‘rare find’ because it is! Totally Epic. Xx

    Kim2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place with amazing views of seriously big mountains over the loch. Sarah Jane is really communicative and also puts on a great breakfast in the morning.

  • Sarah Jane is an excellent host. Her house is extremely welcoming and clean, and we slept incredibly well. We wished we had stayed longer. Highly recommend this place !

  • This is a beautiful B&B to stay in, very comfortable room lovely views over the loch. Ideal base for climbing the Munros in the area. The hosts are very kind and thoughtful.

    Cheryl2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We want to live there! What a wonderful place! Magical location at the shore of a beautiful loch, lovely modern room with super en suite and a delightful host who made us feel really welcome and provided some really helpful local information. Breakfast was great, both the lovely food and the table overlooking the loch. Can't recommend highly enough. Thank you for a lovely stay Sarah Jane. We wish it had been for longer.

    Michael2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tranquil, peaceful, quiet, beautiful location and space- Sarah was so kind and helpful, making our (too-short) stay wonderful. The room is super clean, quiet and very comfortable- a fantastic place to stay whether you’re walking or driving. We were able to walk to a local shop for supplies, as well as a nearby hotel pub for dinner. Breakfast was absolutely terrific- do stay here!

The house was very clean, had everything we needed and more, as well as extra personal touches. Excellent location for exploring, with loads to see and do in the surrounding area. We had a great, relaxing break and will definitely be back.

  • clean and well appointed

    Anna2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • I can't praise this AirBnB enough. The hosts Jimmy and Caroline are friendly and always available but never intrusive. They even went as far as to invite me over for some whisky on my final night. The location is absolutely fantastic. So handy for Skye but also reasonable driving distance to Applecross, to Fort William and even over to Loch Ness. The view from the bedroom, bathroom and living room is stunning - you'll struggle to find a better unobstructed view from a holiday apartment anywhere in the country. The place is very clean and warm and has a well equipped kitchen with plenty of supplies and space meaning you can cook proper meals during your time there. All in all, a perfect stay and I would happily return again.

A delightful little place to stay and newly finished in May 2019 'The Wee House' can be found right next door to our own (slightly bigger) house, 'Heisgeir'. We will be on hand just next door to give you a warm welcome and to ensure your stay with us, and in our area, is both enjoyable and peaceful. Being born and brought up in the area we hope our local knowledge will allow you make the most of your stay.
  • I think the fact Murray built this accommodation himself shines through in the design considerations made for guests. The property feels entirely private and has a fantastic mountain vista from the main-room. It is very well kitted out with mod-cons and surprisingly (for rural Scotland) fast wifi. The hosts clealy care about their guests as they left us fresh milk and tea bags etc; little touches like that can mean a lot. Murray himself gave us a warm welcome and was very hospitable. Its a great jumping-off point for Skye, but could also serve as a base for those wanting to knock off a few munros. Couldnt fault the place.

    Simon2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful home and great location. The attention to detail is incredible and it's spotlessly clean. It was so much better than we thought it would be and the pictures don't do it justice. Great value for money. We will be back!

    Nicola2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful setting to be in and to wake up amongst the mountains. The Wee House is very well thought out with every attention to detail. Murray is a fantastic host.

    Claire2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Murray’s place is fantastic. We really recommend a stay here, great location. Everything was as explained and more. Superbly clean, well equipped kitchen and comfy bed. The photographs do not do the place justice. Communication with Murray was also excellent. Thoroughly recommend this place for a relaxing stay.

    John2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Murray’s place was perfect for a weekend away. Would recommend it and we will be back!

    Ben2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great space to either have a cosy day in or explore the north west from.

    Sam2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The view from the house is spectacular and there are beautiful hikes nearby. The house itself is perfect; really well done with an amazing shower and wood burning fire. Murray is a first class host; friendly and welcoming, very responsive, and proactive in offering help. One of my most memorable stays anywhere. Thank you Murray.

    Philip2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was nothing short of amazing. My wife is a clean freak and she was blown away at how clean this place was. It’s modern, cozy and has amazing views outside. It’s located in the middle of the highlands so scenic walks are a short walk/drive away. The place is fitted out with the highest quality fittings and you can tell it was professionally built (by the host himself). The perfect romantic get away - I can’t fault it in any way.

  • One of the most beautiful places we've ever been. Very comfy and stunning views, perfect location for day trips. We were not so lucky with the weather, however, sitting at the dining table and being able to watch the changing weather at the loch and mountains was terrific. Would love to come back sometimes. Yvonne's mother welcomed us warmly and checked inbetween if everything is ok. Clear recommendation!

  • This accommodation is ideally located for exploring the region, including the Isle of Skye. We advise you to take the ferry to glenelg to get there. From the house, the view of Loch is relaxing. We were very well received.

    Candice2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutly excellent place to stay to explore scottish highlands. You feel at home, the view and coziness of living room is so ideal after long day out. Kitchen is more than fully equipped, it simly has pretty much everything to cook breakfasts, dinner, prepare meals. Powerful heating, so you are never feel cold. Overall spotless clean and great value I would say, its much bigger then the photos/idea of cottage suggests. The hosts are attentive and reply immidiatelly. To sum it up a perfect stay!

  • The cabin is in a superb location, with amazing views. The welcome is warm, as is the lodge, and everything is as described.

  • We had a lovely time in Selma cottage which is also dog friendly 😍 this allowed us to spend a holiday with the whole family!! The cottage is right by the shore of loch Duich, with outstanding views. It is close to the beautiful Eilean Donan castle and a hop into Isle of Skye! The cottage was warm and comfortable, with everything you need for cooking. And also very clean. We were very happy and would highly recommend this place.

    Koen2019-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Can’t fault the location, awesome views and easy access to scenic routes and Isle of Skye. Good value. So good we will be returning later this year.

    Stefan2019-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place. Very secluded and private. The view from the living room table of the Loch is superb. If it's useful for anyone, we were able to charge our electric car easily through the window.

    Conor2018-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice stay close to the nature and with a reception of an extreme kindness on the part of the Mom of Yvonne, the close house of the loch offers a marvelous frame to leave to the discovery of the surroundings, to hike and to benefit from the calm. Imposing landscapes and small roads (very small) all often under the sun, a very beautiful week.

  • Clean, well equipped, cosy accommodation for 2 people in a peaceful hamlet with the most magnificent views over Loch Duich. Highly recommended.

    Mike2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little cottage with a beautiful view looking directly out on to Loch Duich. We stayed there for four days and it was a perfect base to explore nearby (Eilean Donan Castle, Kyle of Lochalsh, Isle of Skye, Plockton) and further afield (Ullapool, Loch Ness, Inverness). Our first visit to Scotland and thoroughly recommended.

  • Anne’s place is soooo clean and comfortable. I enjoyed my stay so much i wanted to extend an extra day but she’s fully booked. The bed is really comfortable, and the entire apartment is spacious with nice layout. The view from the living room to the lake was amazing, i also spotted porpoise and otter. Honestly one of the day during my stay i just felt like staying home and enjoy the surroundings. The apartment is also dog friendly which is a huge plus for me. Thanks again Anne!

    Sabrina2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We were lucky enough to find Anne's place available at very short notice. We loved it, such an incredible view.

  • Magnificent ever changing view. Make sure you have time just to sit there and watch the loch! Clean and adequate facilities , thought fully appointed and everything you need. Lovely walking beside the loch and on trails around, great drive to Corran and visit to their community hall - with dinner at Glenelg inn. Will need to come back and catch the otters next time ( do take binoculars).

    Hilary2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Probably one of the best views of any airbnb we have stayed in. The listing is a hidden gem just next to Isle of Skye. You will need a car to access as it is in a village next to loch Duich, but you will wake up to beautiful views of the Scottish highlands against the backdrop of a lake. A perfect place to explore western Highlands and surrounding, I would recommend this listing to everyone looking for a genuine Scottish experience.

  • We had a fantastic 4 days at the caravan. Jamie was a great host and the caravan was perfect for our family of 4. The caravan is in a breathtaking location, tranquil and right at the loch's edge. It was clean, comfortable and well-stocked. It's also a perfect base for going out and exploring the areas of Kyle of Localsh and Skye. Jamie went a step above and lent us some fishing gear for my husband and son to use- no fish caght but they had a great time trying. Thanks again Jamie, your place is a gem!

    Megan2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful quiet location by sea shore with great views, an otter came within feet of our window. Very convenient for hill walking. Sparkling clean, very well equipped kitchen, well designed and cosy lounge and dining area. Jamie was a very helpful host.

  • Jamie was an amazing host and was helpful from the beginning. He was very quick in responses and was very accommodating to us. We needed a place that was close to Skye and travelling with a toddler, wanted to make sure we were nearby. Not only was Jamie's caravan close, it also made us feel like we were at home as everything was included and all the facilities worked fine. The views across from the caravan were amazing and my daughter enjoyed seeing the birds and the tv which had satellite channels to satisfy her craving. Overall we all had an amazing time in this gem of a place and hope to visit it again soon. Thanks Jamie for everything!

    Imran2019-09-23T00:00:00Z

  • We had a really enjoyable stay in Jamies accommodation. The welcome was very warm, Jamie a great host who promptly answered questions. Really a very sympathetic person! The camper has everything you need. The location is very quiet, which we liked very much. We could watch from the window Otter. For shopping and Skye Bridge you drive about 30 minutes. We would like to come back anytime and thank Jamie once again for the hospitality!

    Heike2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • The place is as per description and photo. Spacious and it is really in a strategic position to visit places such as Skye, It is very comfortable and clean. It has pretty much everything you need to feel at home. The kitchen is super equipped. The lake view makes it all the more special. Jamie is a fantastic host, attentive, helpful and responsive while never being intrusive (first class!). I found my lake view home in Scotland!

  • An address to recommend at the top of the list. Great! Everything was perfect: cleanliness, hospitality, facilities, decor, idyllic location and good for shining in the highlands, and especially for the island of skye. We followed some of Sarah Jane's activity recommendations and directions in her workbook and were not disappointed.

    Jean-Philippe2019-07-24T00:00:00Z

  • We had a memorable stay in Helen's Cottage. The cottage is cozy and tastefully decorated, it is surrounded by nature with a magnificent view of Loch Duich and the majestic Highland mountains. It was a great pleasure for us to have stayed here. Marie-José, Theo and Aurelie, Strasbourg, France

  • Helen has a beautiful home in a stunning location in Ratagan. It was an ideal location for a couple with a new baby to stay. Quiet, private and very relaxing. The house was very clean and extremely well presented. Our only regret was not booking for longer.

    Madeleine2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house is located on Loch Duich overlooking the wonderful mountains of the Highlands. It is furnished with great attention to detail and very cozy. The location is perfect for exploring the Isle of Skye. A small gas station where you can buy even the most necessary is just a few kilometers away. A restaurant and bar right on the opposite side of the lake.

    Christine2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time staying at Ratagan, can honestly say that there's nothing that could have been better. The view is incredible, house is modern but cozy with some excellent additions such as the nook in one bedroom for looking out over the Loch and full Sky TV package for rainy days stuck indoors. The location is perfect for anybody looking to spend time on Skye and is also particularly good if you're looking to go walking in Glen Shiel or Glenelg. Not only the most accurate listing we've stayed at for photos of both the property and view, but also one of the best places I've stayed at in Scotland overall.

    Simon2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Helen's house is superb. The view over the loch is amazing, just to wake up to this every morning was so special and never got tiring. Ratagan is a quiet community so peace and tranquillity abound and getting to sleep is no problem after all the fresh air! The property has free wifi and sky TV, together with Netflix, so entertainment is always at hand. The house is beautifully decorated and furnished. We especially loved the "50 shades of Scotland" print. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped, the living area is comfortable and the extra seating area overlooking the garden and loch is bright and airy. Ratagan is within easy reach of Fort William, Loch Ness and the Isle of Skye so makes a superb base for exploring Scotland's West Coast. All in all staying in Helen's house will ensure you have a great holiday with lots to explore in the local region, and a great relaxing evening at the end of each day.

    Chris2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Helens cortage at Loch Duich is amazing. We enjoyed it all very much. It's clean, the tips from Helen are good and the scenery from her cottage is just stunning. If we were to go back to that area we would surely book the cottage from Helen again.

The room has either one double bed or twin beds with provision to add an extra single bed for a 3rd guest for an additional £20.
Within 10 miles of Glenelg with its Brochs and ferry to Skye and 18 miles to the Skye Bridge. 2 restaurants at the end of the Loch. the Kintail Lodge and the Jac-o-bite, both offer good local food. Kintail is munro country with the 5 sisters of Kintail and the South Shiel ridge and great local walks.
  • Absolutely super five-star rating. The most comfortable night to stay in the UK. The landlord guided us how to drive to her home, and then booked dinner with great intimacy. The morning morning tea was very rich in the morning, the sun was lazy in the morning, eating morning tea, watching through the restaurant window. Mountains and water in the distance. . . This is the legendary "spring blossoms facing the sea". The life that most people yearn for is coming back next time.

Kintail has been a much-loved holiday home for over 30 years and is now available for you to enjoy. A stunning location with mountain views from all windows and panoramic sea loch views from the front. Located right on the shores of Loch Duich, within easy reach of Skye, Glenelg and the Sandaig Isles of Gavin Maxwell's "Ring of Bright Water" fame, as are "the five sisters of Kintail" which can be seen from the cottage. Wildlife spotted include eagles, buzzards, deer and otters.
Everything for a comfortable stay is provided including a Welcome tray with a gift of handmade chocolates. There is a secluded and sunlit rear garden with a barbeque and garden furniture.
  • A must see, it was a great stay and the house is fully loaded. We loved the decor and found it quite fitting for the area. The Kintail Lodge and Glenelg inn are a must. The whole area is amazing and Manuela’s wee bakery is a gem of a place.

    Dave2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Superb! This is one of my favorite Airbnb experiences to date. Not only is the location spectacular, the cottage is so homey and welcoming. The wine and chocolates were the icing on the cake! We loved the mix of decor, inspired by a range of decades! I would take this over an out-of-the-box IKEA kit styled accommodation any day.The only thing I would change is to Stay longer than we did! With a place like this, one need not worry if you have a rainy day because the home is so cozy and the view so beautiful out of the front of the house even in the rain. You can sit by the “fire” and read the interesting books and movies provided or watch TV. This place is perfect for families, an artist’s retreat, casual hill walkers, Munro hikers… Just about anybody! make sure you go down to the local Home chocolate shop owned by the family who checked us in to the cottage. Also a great location to take a day trip through Skye. Don’t forget to place your grocery order from ASDA 3 days in advance or more and have it delivered upon your arrival! Quite the luxury. Thank you to Samantha and your family for providing such a lovely place.

    Annie2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to stay at if you want to visit the Isle of Skye, enjoy beautiful nature directly in your window's view or want to go hiking. We found everything we needed and were even let in a whole hour earlier very spontaneously.

    Katja2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • You feel at home in this great and typical scottish cottage. The view from the dining room is tremendous and we loved it. It's easy to visit the area from the place. The area is very quiet. I highly recommand this place.

    Marie2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Really can recommend this place Very quite with incredible view over the loch. We saw dolphins passing by . Very helpful and nice people running it.

    Tony2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • The views from Kintail cottage are beyond picture postcard perfect, waking up and seeing the Five sisters on the loch is the perfect way to start the day and the photos on Airbnb do not do them justice. It is the perfect base to explore Skye, Ben Nevis, Glenfinnan and the surrounding areas. The facilities are more then adequate and Finlay’s homemade chocolates are delicious! The cottage is dated in decor which isn’t an issue for us as it is very clean. I would highly recommend Kintail as our needs were exceeded during our stay.

    Bob2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don’t do the location justice. It is placed right on the shore line with unsurpassable views of the 5 sisters. The neighbours were so friendly and helpful... if you like seafood make sure to ask about getting some locally caught prawns... they are amazing! Beds so comfy, kitchen well stocked to cook and little touches like a welcome bottle of wine, tea, coffee, chocolate and milk!! (The chocolates are made locally and are Devine!!) we will be back!

    Katy2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great location with fabulous views of the loch and surrounding highlands. It's very comfortable and has very good amenities. We had a very relaxing week staying here and was a great base for days out hiking and exploring Glenelg, Plockton and, of course, Skye.

A modern, light and airy, well equipped static caravan in the most beautiful location in the Highlands of Scotland. Central heating, electric fire, 2 toilets and walk-in shower really make the caravan feel more like a cabin. Surrounded by mountains with incredible views, peace and quiet. Ideal base for touring the West Highlands, hill walking and for the Isle of Skye. Minimum 7 night stay. Saturday to Saturday. Contact direct for shorter stays. Everyone welcome
The caravan is on a croft in Moyle which is situated a couple of miles away from Glenelg village centre where there is a small shop, local pub and Skye Ferry. There are other houses near by but you get the feeling you have the whole glen/valley to yourself!
There are other houses near to the caravan but it is still private.
  • Wow! What a lovely place to stay! In the middle of a beautiful glen, surrounded by fields, highland cows and spectacular hills. It was so peaceful, quiet and clean. I would highly recommend escaping to this amazing corner of the world.

    Joe & Kezia2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • I fall in love with Glenelg over and over again. No phone signal, lots of cows and sheeps, highlands, nature... it's the perfect place for a holiday in Scotland.

  • Wonderful, lonely spot. Very clean and relaxed.

    Markus2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in the Shona caravan. The caravan is perfectly well equipped. Nothing is missing for a quiet stay. The view is fantastic, in good weather as in bad weather. There is no wifi or telephone network but this is clearly indicated in the announcement. The kitchen is equipped. Nothing is missing. You will find, among others, a microwave oven, an oven, an electric kettle, a bodum-type coffee maker ... Single beds are narrower than standard beds. If you do not have the opportunity to do it in advance, at Fort William or Inverness, you'll find a fairly large Co-op (supermarket) in Kyle of Lochalsh just before the bridge to Isle of Skye (45 minutes drive). There is a small shop in Glenelg but not enough to shop (OK for a bottle of milk, water or bread but not much more). We strongly recommend that you eat a bite at the Glenelg Inn, the Glenelg Inn. Do not forget to book. We had good contact with Shona and appreciated her very clear information about the caravan and the route to take to get there. We sincerely thought it was more difficult to find the caravan. In fact it's very simple if you follow Shona's instructions. There are plenty of hikes in the area, both from the caravan and further afield. We would love to stay in the Shona caravan again. The only thing we would change would be the duration. We would book an even longer stay!

    Sarah2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The caravan offered by Shona is a haven of tranquility. The place is really nice, the Glenelg pub awesome. 2 Ways to get to Skye: the spectacular road or boat ... on a spectacular road. Just remember to go shopping well before (which we recommended Shona) and enjoy an exotic holiday. No complaints, very good times spent in this corner of Scotland

The Magic Bus, a cosy and unique getaway for the nature-loving eco-traveller looking for something cute and quirky. On a southwest facing hillside with stunning views of Loch Duich and Loch Alsh below and surrounded by a hazel and birch woodland. Within walking distance of the village of Dornie which has places to eat and drink, a local shop and the famous Eilean Donan Castle, on the road to Skye. Great if you enjoy an evening fire in nature, peace and tranquillity of the Scottish Highlands.
The Magic Bus was a well travelled Mercedes 709 minibus before it became the stationary version it is now. It has a bright spacious, hand made interior. Its main area is light and functional with a raised doublebed area to the front of the bus (and a bunk-size single in the main space) The bus enjoyes 180° of sea view over Loch Duich and the Isle of Skye in the distance. Weather permitting you can enjoy the sunset and a BBQ in the sitting area outside. Inside you can keep warm even in the coldest of nights with the log burner making The Magic Bus the perfect romantic winter getaway. Freshly baked bread from a nearby small village bakery, real coffee and fresh herbs from the garden are just a few of the touches that add up to the Magic!
The Magic Bus is around 1.5 miles from the village of Dornie, which has Eilean Donan Castle as it's world famous feature, we are situated on Carrbrae above the village. Dornie is a busy wee place with a hotel, Dornie Hotel, and a bar ,The Clachan, both of which provide meals throughout the season from Easter to October, the Clachan bar only opens for drinks Fridays and Saturdays from October to Easter whereas the Hotel serves food and drink throughout the year. There is also a local shop/post office and a cafe/gallery in the village. Just across Dornie bridge there's a takeaway coffee/bakeshop, All the Good Things (which again only opens from Easter to October), which does take away coffees and cakes, as well as a bakery and Manuelas Wee Bakery, which is open all year round apart from January and supplies our bread and sells take-away pizza on Wednesdays and Fridays from 5 till 8. There are many short walks in the area including the viewpoint at Carrbrae above which gives an impressive vista of the local area.
  • Absolutely gorgeous location and view! Highly recommended!

  • The Magic Bus is such a lovely place to stay, from the cosey wood burning stove to the amazing views ans fresh bread in the mornings! We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Magic Bus as a place to stay when exploring Skye! We were even lucky enough to get some sun when we stayed... a rarity on the West Coast! Fantastic stay and would highly recommend!

    Jennifer2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Dunia was incredibly welcoming and warm. The location of the bus does not disappoint, it's absolutely stunning. From Dornie, my partner and I drove up into Torridon to climb a munro during the day and coming back to the bus in the afternoon amidst wind / snow / rain / hail was such a treat. It's a beautifully cosy space and sitting, reading with the fire on with the sun sinking over the ridge opposite was a highlight of our trip.

    Charlie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing experience! Clean, organized and cozy! Dunia was an excellent hostess. It was wonderful that day at the Magic Bus ... We highly recommend. hug

    Paulo2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Dunia was a great host, who was happy to help us during our stay. The bus was cosy and stove fire kept us warm even in the middle of winter. Would happily stay again, thanks!!

  • The experience at The Magic Bus was unforgettable. Much better than expected. Even the pictures don’t describe the beautiful of the place. If you’re thinking about staying there, don’t hesitate: set your mind free and go for it. The Magic Bus should be in everyone’s to-do list when visiting the Highlands. And above all, Dunia; her warm welcome is something that I will never forget and that I get with me as a fantastic memory from Scotland!

    Paul2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay in the bus - it really was magic! So cosy, and such a wonderful place to wake up - the views were incredible! Breakfast was delicious too - we could not recommend this place enough to relax and explore a beautiful part of Scotland. :)

  • Dunia is a very thoughtful host. The space was the most unique Airbnb experience I’ve ever had, and a must-visit! Learn to start and (hopefully keep) your own fire going, eat the most wonderful locally baked bread, and snuggle with hot water bottles in bed. 100% eco-friendly experience with water being provided from large jugs. Truly back-to-the-elements, in style! Try it!

A cosy twin bed accommodation in the heart of Glenelg in the Highlands of Scotland. This accommodation welcomes all visitors with a friendly and homely atmosphere.
What makes the “Glenmore Lounge” unique, apart from the friendly host is the “Lounge Bar” facilities attached to the property! The Lounge offers a space to relax and socialise or simply unwind to some music from the stereo CD. Catch up on News and entertainment on SKY TV, including SKY SPORTS, SPOTIFY or NETFLIX ...and WiFi facilities which are free! You can of course, switch off the social media and reconnect with yourself and one another. The Lounge also includes a slate based six foot pool table and darts! A fine hand crafted bar caps of the facility, where refreshments and good craic is guaranteed! There is ample seating and a beautiful view.
Glenelg is the ideal base to tour the Isle of Skye and the West Highlands. The local “Glenelg -Skye Ferry” ‘over the sea to Skye’, is the most amazing way to start your day and tour of Skye! It runs 10am -6pm everyday Easter through October! Where to begin on Skye! There is lots too see - The Old man of Storr (just north of Portree) it takes about 40 -60 mins to walk to the top, but lovely views (check out the photos). There is Kilted Rock just north of that, lovely waterfalls. There is a lovely wee cafe place near there too (The Art House Cafe). Veiws of the Quarring are also beautiful. To the west of the island there is the Fairy Glen near Uig (used in the film Stardust). Dunvegan Castle, home to the Faerie Flag (magical artefact). The Faerie Pools, a lovely set of pools at the foot of the Cuillin Mountains. There you will also find the Talisker Whiskey Distillery. Neist Point Lighthouse is another fantastic place to visit and is on the furthest west part of the island. Further down the island you have Elgol to the far west that looks back onto the Cuillin Mountains. There is also Armadale Castle close to the Gaelic College: Sabhal Mor Ostaig. This also looks over the sea to the mainland and Mallaig (towards Fort William and Harry Potter Outdoor locations). Kyleakin has a few places to see, most notably Castle Moil - a ruined castle. Eilean Donan Castle, is a 20 min drive away in Dornie, another stunning castle used in a number of films. I hope thats not too much information! If you need to know more or have any other questions please just ask, happy to help out! Thanks
  • The house is just on the road so keep straight and you will find it on your right side. The house is warm and full of entertainment.

  • It is a typical British B&B. With very complete breakfast. The facilities are in perfect condition and the owner is a great host, really attentive and friendly. Very easy to reach, it is just 20 minutes from Eilean Castle in a really beautiful and bucolic place. Thanks Rab for everything!

  • Amazing spot in this beautiful valley - takes about 15 minutes to get to from the main highway but is it worth it. Lounge area is super cool.

Traditional highland crofting cottage on the shores of Loch Duich at the foot of the Five Sisters of Kintail... hotel, bar, restaurant and licensed shop & petrol station within easy rech
  • Great value. It’s comfortable, though not luxurious and deserves a high rating for the price. Excellent location with some fine hillwalking nearby. Road noise noted as a potential concern in some previous reviews, was not an issue, we were not disturbed at all. Very private. Host went out of her way to meet us late at night.. in the rain, to meet us and welcome us. Tight stairs with a low ceiling likely due to installing upstairs w/c in an older smaller cottage. We had no problems at all with this but might be a challenge if mobility was an issue. Good for a small family or two couples.

  • Mary's place was absolutely gorgeous, the morning views were amazing plus was in a great location. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you could need. Very close to a number of (challenging) hiking tracks. Will definitely be back!

  • Super place! We had good time in a wonderful part of Scotland 🙂

    Christiane2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a charming small family home. The spaces are beautifully put together with color and detail making it cozy and comfortable in a drenching rain and wind storm, (we were there during one!) and wonderful on warm days with the front door open. The walk around Glen Shiel to the campsite and the church took us about an hour and was a gentle country walk.

    Barb2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Mary’s cottage! It’s a really unique property that has the most amazing view onto a little bay. The main road is far away enough that we didn’t notice it and the surrounding area is really beautiful peaceful.

    Hayley2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • A pleasant place in a quiet hamlet living at the sound of the river that runs through and the waterfall that overlooks it, which makes you forget the traffic on the bridge. The house is cozy, and well equipped. The view is beautiful. An excellent place to stay for excursions in the mountains or sightseeing in the area.

  • We had a great time at Sarah and Helen's house. We were very well received and advised for our visits. The bedroom and bathroom are very pleasant, spacious, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was also wonderful. We also enjoyed Sarah's massages. In short, we will come back without hesitation ! A huge thank you

  • Beautiful spot, great location for reaching into the isle of Skye, isle of Raasay, Eilean Donan and others. Sarah and Steven were outstanding hosts and we found the accommodation to be extremely comfortable and clean, and their home welcoming and warm. The addition of breakfast is a lovely touch. Highly recommended.

Heisgeir Bed & Breakfast situated at the foot of The Five Sisters of Kintail is the ideal spot for hillwalking, visiting the Isle of Skye, or just relaxing. An attractive continental breakfast is on offer which should be more than enough for those with even the most ambitious of plans for the day.
The continental breakfast on offer, which includes tea, coffee, toast, cereal, fruit and yoghurt should be more than enough to set you up for the day. You are welcome to help yourself to this downstairs in the living/ dining area. The spacious and comfortable bedroom has a king size bed with en- suite shower room facilities and walk in wardrobe. There is a fridge in the wardrobe if needed. The en- suite has a powerful mains pressure shower. The views to the front and side are fantastic.
We are a 20 minute drive from the bridge to the Isle of Skye, in between being the famous Eilean Donan Castle. An alternative route to Skye, via turn table ferry is also a 20 minute drive away.
  • This is simply a wonderful place to stay; comfortable, immaculately clean, good self-service breakfast and great location. The "icing on the cake" though is a truly "superhost" who will make you feel extremely welcome.

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic stay. A welcoming host, spacious and immaculate room, in a lovely location. Thanks so much Murray, we will be back.

    Rebecca2019-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Murray is a fantastic host, super helpful and accomodating. He helped me and a friend hugely after we'd been running for nearly 2 days.

    Steve2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • We would definitely stay at the Heisgeir B&B again! Murray's home was lovely and the grounds which it sits are beautiful; set between two mountain peaks. We also learned that Murray designed and built the house himself which is even more remarkable given the craftsmanship that went into it. Murray was welcoming and very friendly, quick to strike up a conversation and offer dinner recommendations, such as the Kintail Lodge, which was only a short drive down the road and turned out to serve a delicious dinner. Accommodations were comfortable and the room was quite large.

    Matthew2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about our stay at Murray's B&B! The reviews we read prior to booking were great and we totally agree with them all. Murray was super communicative both prior to and up to our arrival. The location of the place was just perfect and off the typical tourist path, which we loved. The room and en suite were both really clean and comfortable and we got a great night's rest before continuing on our Highlands road trip. The breakfast catered for everything we wanted/needed for our stay, too. Highly recommend!

    Kate2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • STAY AT THIS RESIDENCE! PERIOD! PERFECT BASE FOR SKYE AND THE ISLES! Of the many accommodations we have patronized around the world, we both agree that Murray’s lodge is simply the most well thought-out, with meticulously planned provisions, providing beyond expectations amenities B&B we’ve visited! By trade, Murray is a craftsman and hence, the details and precision in all that he does for his guest and lodging are spot-on. The rooms are more like suites being that they are essentially self-sufficient in and of themselves. Leaving your suite for down stairs in the Great Room provides guest with a wood burning fireplace, panoramic views of the “hills” by which you are surrounded, fresh fruits, natural yogurts, endless cereals, French-Pressed coffee, breads, Tea’s and on and on. The suites are impeccable and CLEAN-CLEAN-CLEAN! Water is hot, all linens and towels are white and 1st class. Plenty of extra amenities like coffee, tea, biscuits, hot chocolate and chocolates in the suites themselves. LOTS of room for storage (large, almost unnecessary walk-in closets with refrigerator and Keurig) for long-term, a couch, coffee table and TV. Again, virtually self-sufficient. Murray is a gentle man; more than happy to share any and all insights about the area, Scotland or otherwise. Loving wood-burning fires, Murray insured that one was made and prepared to be set ablaze at all times. We enjoyed two lovely evenings fireside with him, enjoying a dram of Scotland’s finest and great conversation ensuing. What a wonderful family man and individual! We will be back ASAP! Two nights are NOT enough! Warning! Stay as long as possible; you’ll regret otherwise. P.S. - Kintail Inn down the road is terrific! See Eilean Donan Castle down the road! Walk out the front door, literally, and climb the “hills” by which you are surrounded! The drive through Glensheil in route to Murray’s is breathtaking - there are no words to describe.

    Kirk2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous place, big spacious room, quiet spot with the mountains as your backdrop. Wanted to stay longer. Murray was so welcoming.

    Michelle2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Murray's place was in a beautiful location in the highlands. There were incredible views from every window in the space. The space was extremely clean with many amenities such as a refrigerator, full bathroom, snacks, coffee, tea, hair dryer, etc. The b and b was honestly nicer than most hotels I have stayed at. Murray was also very kind in booking us a reservation at a local pub, as I was concerned about local restaurants being open when we had a late arrival. The breakfast that was prepared for us was also a great start to the day as we could hit the road right after without having to worry about finding a local place to eat as places in the highlands are sometimes unreliable to be open. I would definitely stay here again for my next visit.

Lovely highland semi-detached house with a large garden on a working croft. Set in a beautiful highland glen, on the mainland close to the Isle of Skye. The house has been newly refurbished and sleeps four comfortably, but can accommodate up to seven people for short stays. There is a fully equipped kitchen and parking adjacent to the property. We recommend that you stay for more than one night in order to take full advantage of your surroundings. There is so much to see and do in Glenelg!
The house is set on a working croft, close to a river and surrounded by heather clad mountains. Great opportunities for walking and enjoying the spectacular scenery and wildlife.
Set on a remote peninsula, Glenelg is an idyllic highland village which is rich in spectacular scenery, wildlife, history and culture. The village has its own shop, inn and cafés. The inn offers good food, local ales and traditional music. Christine provides a personal touch that was very nice indeed, and we loved the house so much that we barely stepped out all. Definitely recommend!
