Completed to a high standard this larch clad cabin is located just outside the village of Farr in the beautiful river valley of Strathnairn and is perfect for those seeking contemporary accommodation with all mod cons in a rural setting.
Completed to a high standard this larch clad cabin is located just outside the village of Farr in the beautiful river valley of Strathnairn and is perfect for those seeking contemporary accommodation with all mod cons in a rural setting. Surrounded by forests, hills and lochs yet only 10 miles to the south of Inverness and all the capital of the highlands has to offer the location is hard to beat.
I visited this area for the first time in 2012 and was immediately impressed by the combination of beautiful highland scenery and the relative closeness of Inverness. At 250m above sea level and surrounded by woods and hills Strathnairn has the feel of a more isolated location but is in fact within very easy reach of the city. This is not a common combination in the highlands of Scotland with most of the popular destinations being far off the beaten track. For my family this was important since we needed to be close to a major hospital but it struck me that this city/rural combination would also be advantageous to many others.
  • The cabin is so cute and was a very nice place to stay. Nice and quiet and close to all the things in Inverness. Scott was really kind and suggested several places for us to go. Highly recommend.

  • If you are scrolling through, looking at reviews, deciding where to stay...stop now. Book this beautiful wee place! Off the beaten track enough to feel secluded, yet 15 mins to Inverness where you will find anything you need! Stunning countryside all around...we fell in love with this wee place and the location. One of the best value, best equipped places we have stayed! Everything we needed was here, it was perfect! Thanks for everything, we will be back for sure. Kirsten & William

  • Scott's Cottage is spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. You will find a very nicely presented cottage, with very comfortable furniture, that provides a great place to relax after full days of sightseeing. There is a spacious, fully-equipped kitchen, with several condiments provided (if you're cooking), and foil, cling wrap etc as well. The bathroom is open, very clean and modern. The heating worked wonderfully, and we were always toasty warm. Overall, Scott's cottage is the perfect place to stay to visit the Inverness region, and is well located fairly close to the A9.

Spacious, cosy, family-friendly log cabin with super-fast wi-fi. Scenic, peaceful location on a farm 9 miles (14km) south of Inverness. Close to Loch Ness and many of the best tourist attractions in the Scottish Highlands. Ideal base for touring, walking or cycling.
  • Comfortable and cosy wooden lodge set in the small village of Farr, 20 minutes from Inverness and ~30 mins from Aviemore. Also well situated for exploring Loch Ness and the Monadhliath mountains. Lodge was clean and spacious and Willie was on hand to provide local information and welcome you to the property. Very prompt replies during booking process and throughout. Would happily stay again.

    Colin2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • This lodge is amazing. It has two big modern bathrooms, a cosy living room with wood burner and space for 5/6 people to sleep. It feels a little like a ski chalet. There is also room for at least 2 cars. We stayed as a couple but the place would work for a group of friends or a family as well. A short drive to Inverness. Plenty of lakes and walking trails around the area. Definitely recommend Fearnag if you want to get away from it all but still benefit from the comforts of home.

    Alicia2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Fearnag Lodge completely met our expectations, the pictures and description gave an accurate account of what it was like. The directions given were very detailed and descriptive and we were greeted with warmth on arrival as well as given the necessary information to make us feel comfortable throughout our stay. The Christmas tree in the hall way was such a lovely touch and really added to the cosiness of the home. It was the perfect place to stay for our family and being a family of 5 there was plenty of space for us all. The location gave us a place to rest without being to far from places to visit or activities we wanted to do.

    Marie2016-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very comfortable and warm. The location is perfect to spend a few days off in nature. Very friendly hosts.

  • Beautiful lodge 20 minutes from inverness. We were staying here as our base for the inverness marathon and it was a great place to relax and easy to get to by car. I would definitely recommend this place if you are visiting the area!

    Gary2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had 3 nights at the lodge and was simply wonderful. Great location to visit Loch Ness and surrounding area in a quiet tranquil setting. Beautiful lodge with all you need for a relaxed break. Thanks to our hosts who were very welcoming and had a great knowledge of the area. This place comes highly recommended for a Highland break.

    Gary2016-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • William welcomed us into the Lodge on arrival and talked us through how everything worked and provided a detailed overview of the surrounding area. We really enjoyed our stay at the Lodge, the Lodge is very spacious, warm and cosy and finished to a high spec. The wood burning fire is great. The lodge is in a perfect location to go to explore the outdoors. We visited Dores/Lochness and Aviemore. I would certainly recommend this Lodge to others on AirBnB and would certainly stay here on future visits to Inverness. Great Accommodation - A++

Dalvourn Cottage is situated in the picturesque village of Farr. This traditional semi detached cottage was once a Chuch and School for the village. It has a track road from the B851 to the house with open coutryside either side including a herd of deer on the moorland. Recently fully refurbished with a large garden and area to sit out in. There is a ramp access to the house with a downstairs toilet and shower with seat. The surrounding countryside is fantastic for walking and cycling.
Inverness is apprximately 6 miles away Fort Augustus around 20 miles Aviemore 26 miles. Nairn Beach around 20 miles. Beautiful landscapes to explore
There is a well stocked local shop a half mile away and nearby a playpark and a range of forest walks. This cottage has all the wildlife and nature attractions you would expect but is only a short drive from Inverness city centre.
  • We had a problem free and great stay at Dawn's rental home. The communication at booking was quick and friendly, and the property easy to find. The property is tastefully and newly decorated. Also, we found lots of thoughtful little touches; things we hadn't experienced in other air BnB properties. Thank you Dawn. It was a proper home from home and I would stay there again without hesitation.

  • We loved these quiet days The location is close to Inverness (about 15min drive) The dogs hens goats rabbits duck and pony are the happiness of children and Joan took time to show them and take them to get the eggs! The accommodation is very functional and very clean Very good rental!

    Amelie2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice mobile home. It was great for our family of 5. Joan is delightful. She left fresh eggs at our arrival and she sells them for a good price so we bought more for the rest of our visit. As Joan says, the wi-fi isn't always reliable. It mostly didn't work for us so we recommend knowing your wireless company's data roaming charges just in case. Her 3 dogs are very friendly and we enjoyed seeing her farm animals. The house is a good base for exploring Inverness and Loch Ness. We hope to return someday! The countryside is stunning!

    Brent2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve been really happy about that home. Also Joan was very friendly. It’s near to Inverness and close by is a supermarket which is open 24/7.

    Jonathan2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Joan for the great accommodation, we felt very comfortable. The hostess was very nice and always had good travel tips ready. Especially for children, the accommodation is well suited. We could hardly get rid of them from the animals. For our big one the farm (accommodation) was the best of the whole holiday. Thank you for the wonderful time Thomas, Irina, Jannes and Jonah

  • We had great time on this nice quiet place. It is a spacious and clean caravan, easily accomodating a family of four. A very friendly and helpful host. Kids had much fun with the dogs and the animals on the farm. We recommend.

  • Joan's hospitality is second to none. The impeccable, comfortable guest house. The children have really enjoyed the animals there. A little away from Inverness, but on the other hand a tranquility for rest that is appreciated after days of routes. Fully recommended

  • This place was a beautiful, peaceful getaway in the highlands! You definitely need to have a car, but getting there is very easy. Lisa was very welcoming and the breakfast was the best spread I've seen at an airbnb ever! Felt more like a lovely bed and breakfast than airbnb. I didn't use the sauna, but the hot tub was the perfect end to my busy days in the highlands. The bathroom and shower were super clean.

    Sydnie2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed with Lisa and her family for three nights and enjoyed the relaxing environment at the farm very much! The whirlpool and the sauna contributed a lot to it. The room was cozy and the bed was really comfortable. Lisa was very welcoming and nice and the breakfast was really good too. Would come back to this place anytime.

    Frieda2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Can't recommend highly enough. Lisa is very friendly and the facilities are great. It was lovely to wake up in the morning to see a field full of sheep a few yards away. Terrific internet, better speeds than I've had in some cities. I will return without a moment's hesitation.

We enjoyed walking this beautiful property and it was a great landing point for area attractions. Would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend it to anyone.

  • The space was comfortable and had everything we could have needed. We really enjoyed having the washer/dryer after traveling the countryside for a week and a half. The kitchen was lovely to cook in and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed having a king size bed on this stay. Most of the Airbnb’s that we’ve visited so far have only had full size beds. The property is gorgeous and we adored the nature around.

    Amanda2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lucy and her family are great hosts, in a beautiful, almost magical place. We are absolutely excited. If you are looking for peace, relaxation, fishing, tennis and nature, this is the place for you. In addition, the hist. Exploration of the Highlands of Farr House is very possible.

Finished to a very high standard, this lovely 1 bedroom property is located in Daviot, just south of Inverness. The Den has its own entrance, a cosy kitchen/lounge area and bright & airy bedroom with ensuite shower room. Guests will also have access to our hot tub to enjoy the Highland stars at night at an extra charge. Although in a rural location it is ideally placed for access to Loch Ness, the Cairngorms and further North, and is only a 10 minute drive to Inverness centre.
The Den was fully converted from loft space in 2017. The bright and freshly decorated accommodation comprises an open-plan kitchen/living room with sofa bed and a twin bedroom with ensuite shower room. The sofa bed in the lounge can accommodate two adults but ideally one adult or two children. The sofa bed has an extra mattress for added comfort. Please note, the only way to access the toilet is through the bedroom. Also, as The Den is within converted loft space, the ceilings are 6’ 2” (188cm) at the highest points.
Daviot is a lovely rural village located off the A9 (main route to the Highlands from the south)

The loft space has everything you need for a short stay for 4 adults. It was comfy and cosy. The added bonus of a jacuzzi, outdoor TV, fire pit and star gazing was fantastic. • We stayed here in February for a family get together. It was so perfect for the whole family, from toddlers to grandparents. The space is wonderfully comfortable with a lovely fire and large family dining table. We had snow and played in the magical winter wonderland in the grounds. It is so pretty and secluded and even in February we had lots of wildlife visitors. Highly recommend this cottage and Lucy as a host.

Very many rooms and bathrooms, very clean, great facilities, smooth communication with the landlady, great value for money and just the place to relax. The property offers the opportunity to take long walks on a private lake, animals, pastures and forests. • We've had a wonderful time at the beautiful Garden Cottage in Farr House, and enjoyed every minute at the beautiful and pampering accommodation. Everything was super comfy and pretty just like the pictures we saw before arriving and much more.... The house is surrounded in lush green fields and forest, and loved watching the happy cows grays outside the kitchen window - quite a refreshing experience for us townies. Lucy made our visit to this part of the world very special. And we would love to come again soon.

  • Cardon House is absolutely incredible. The house itself was spacious and stylish, with plenty of large bedrooms and large beds, to accommodate my large American family. The kitchen and family rooms were also large, clean, and well-organized, making us eager to spend time there. The dawn views from the porch are not to be missed. It is super close to the 24-hour supermarket and the rest of Inverness. My children loved it so much they will not stop talking about how they wish they could live there. This was literally the perfect house for a large family or large group.

  • Stayed in this beautiful quirky property with family which we had a fantastic time. A great entertaining space and relaxing feel. Our daughter loved the size being able to run free. Location is fantastic with great animals to see for the little ones. A must stay place and we will be back for sure. Host very accommodating and quick to reply what more could we have asked for Thanks Again Alison

  • Alison’s home is wonderful. Super clean and comfortable space, it was a home away from home. We used it to house a crew for a job and Alison and her family couldn’t have been more accommodating. The highlight is without doubt the location and views from the house; a hidden little gem in the Scottish countryside with sunrises that are up there with some of the best. Nothing was too much bother and even though we were probably quite an unusual group with some very random requests, we couldn’t have felt more welcome. Thank you!

There is a fully glazed conservatory with beautiful views, a truly fantastic place to sit and enjoy the peace & quiet.
This stunning detached cottage is located 8 miles from Inverness, with Loch Ness nearby, Aviemore and ‘The Cairngorm national park’ only a 25-minute car journey away. In the local area, there is fishing, paintballing as well as many walks and cycle trails. In the city of Inverness, you can find many amenities including, a theatre, shopping centres, cinema, restaurants, swimming pool, ice rink, trampoline park and several golf courses to keep all members of the family entertained. The property has full central heating with hot water on demand. On the ground floor, there is a large family kitchen with a dining area that seats 6. The area surrounding the cottage is a haven for wildlife. There are regular visits by deer, rabbits, squirrels and on rare occasions, badgers and our most recent visitor has been a pine marten (often at dusk). Birds of prey can regularly be found perching on the fence near to the house. As the skies in the area are often clear due to no light pollution, you can gaze at the stars from the conservatory. Alternatively, relax in the garden with views of the beautiful surrounding countryside, including the River Nairn only a few yards away.

  • Birch Cottage is within easy striking distance of Inverness and its attractions yet it is secluded and very private. It is well set up for a family and has all the necessary amenities to make your stay comfortable. The rural setting next to farm animals makes it a perfect retreat. Good communication from the owner Mark and we would have no hesitation in staying there again and recommending it to others.

  • Marks place is a proper get away from the cities. The location is great. 15 min to Inverness and a scenic 2.5 hrs to Isle of Sky. My mother loved the cows walking peacefully past the property at dusk and dawn. The beds were comfortable and spacious and the kitchen fully equipped for a proper dinner. We loved having tea in the conservatory looking across the field. There’s no need for stress in your life here. Thank you Mark!

  • Our stay with Neal and Angela was lovely. The room was spotless and clean, and Angela greeted us right away upon arrival. The directions were extremely helpful in finding the home in the country. The full scottish breakfast was delicious and just what we needed before a long day of sightseeing.

  • Excellent value for money and great hospitality, in great location with access to lots of Highlands activities. The hot tub was amazing. Wish we could use the sauna too, was a bit difficult to get it going. There is also a breakfast included in price with tasty hot chocolate and toasted waffles as well as several types of cereal. Kids enjoyed playing games with Lisa’s son who is very friendly and well behaved. Highly recommend this place for either a family, couples or single travellers to Highlands.

Bright newly decorated and furnished rooms in a quiet and scenic area of Inverness. Beautiful views across the Scottish country side and over the hills that run toward Loch Ness. Great place to begin a North Coast 500 adventure. We have a king size room and a single room right next door to each other with a private bathroom across the hall. The property is shared with myself, my husband and our friendly dogs Malc & Archie.
Our home is over 3 floors. You enter on the middle floor and the bedrooms are upstairs. We ask that no shoes are worn upstairs as there are carpets in this area. Our dogs are also not allowed upstairs which keeps this area clean and hair free!
Our neighbourhood is very quiet and safe.
  • This was a great cozy place to stay while in Inverness. We would recommend highly. Kevin and Nancy Cambridge Maine, USA

  • Lovely rooms in a very comfortable home. Only negative if there is one is the fact it’s on three levels so lots of stairs! Beds were very comfy and everything really clean and tidy. Hosts have two gorgeous dogs who are very friendly and well behaved. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would recommend to anyone.

  • My kids and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Katie and Richard's place. They are very welcoming and kind. Their home was perfect for our needs and very clean and comfortable too. We also fell in love with the dogs! I have never met two more well behaved and friendly dogs, both of which absolutely made our stay! We had a car so the location was great, not far from the city center and various other locations. The area itself is really beautiful and extremely quiet. We had such a great stay! Thank you so much!!

    Kimberley2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Katie was very welcoming and helpful. We personally liked the location just a bit outside of the city centre. Rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Thank you for having us.

  • Katie's house is located in a beautiful and quiet spot close Inverness. It was our first house sharing experience and we enjoyed it very much. • If you travel by car, it is an excellent place to stay. Inverness is only 8 minutes by car, but you are on the idillic countryside. The annex is big and bequem, the hosts paid a lot of attention to the details. At the arrival a welcome package waited for us which is a big help if you arrive late in the evening. Even if our hosts were on holiday they left us with Maya who was very kind and helped us with planning our program. I can only recommand the place!

  • This house is great! It made our trip. We played soccer in the yard, went for walks, played games and had a blast. The kids loved the space and we loved the character of the home. It is out in the country, there are no stores or gas stations near it so grab your grocery before you head in.

  • We are a family with four children, the youngest of them a one-year-old baby, and I have to recognize what a fantastic day we have spent at Achneim House. We were looking for a quiet place to explore the Highlands and the site was perfect. The house and location are really impressive and a good starting point for excursions to virtually any place of interest in this area of Scotland. The boys have felt at home and the host has always been attentive to our needs (and that was not easy with so little). No doubt very highly recommended for all those large families or groups of friends who want to visit this impressive place in the world!

    Enrique2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Achneim house was simply perfect, they thought of every little detail. Clean, stylish, cozy and comfortable. The host was very responsive, they met us on the road when we couldn’t find the house and showed us the way. One downside was that there was no cellular signal, but the host provides a landline and WiFi so it makes up for it. They provided us with recommendations and information about the area and things to do. We couldn’t have chosen a more perfect destination for our family holiday.

    Mohammed2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Expect to be amazed by this perfect place in Scotland.

  • Lovely location and it's the second time my family and I have used this home for our trips. We had some minor issues with heating which were resolved and overall had a great time! Our favorite part is always pulling up and seeing all of the pheasants!

  • Gorgeous house, pictures don’t do it justice. The grounds and surrounding area are stunning. Take blankets with you during the winter so you can get cosy in front of the fire. Everything we needed was provided for. Great value for that price too. We will definitely be back. Thanks for giving us a lovely stay!

    Mali2018-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Book this place now if you want a proper countryside retreat. It's in the middle of rolling hills and mountains. Not too far from stuff to do but far enough so you feel nicely cut off! House is massive, garden area is big enough for football too. Table tennis is a great touch. And Lauren makes everything really hassle free so the only thing you need to worry about is whether to buy 18 or 19 crates of Tennents...

    Lee2018-07-30T00:00:00Z

  • Amazing !

    Keyaira2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Farr House is spectacular! it is a destination in its own right so give yourself extra time to enjoy the home and the estate grounds. Lucy is an excellent host. She and her husband provided a morning tour of the estate grounds (12,000 acres!) including lunch in a hunter's hut. Lucy also worked with us to provide a surprise dinner for our mother's 80th birthday that included perfectly aged and prepared venison from the estate grounds. This is a gorgeous home and Lucy is an excellent hostess. Highly recommend.

    Kathleen2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a superb place. All bedrooms were en-suite and very spacious. Fantastic kitchen with excellent facilities. Great grounds and amazing countryside. Superb library and dining room.

    Mark2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal place for a family get-together - all members of the party commented on the comfort and lovely location. Lucy was able to provide a cook over the weekend which made all the difference as he was particularly pleasant and accommodating. There were lots of helpful touches like toiletries, kitchen provisions and a local welcome hamper. Thank you very much from all of us.

    Fiona2019-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • My extended family and I had a wonderful stay at Farr House. Our host Lucy went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed. We even purchased some fresh eggs and venison patties from the farm which were delicious. The library and main living area were both very comfortable and we enjoyed spending relaxing evenings around the fire. The kitchen was extremely well resourced and included 3 dishwashers! We also enjoyed having a go cooking on the old school Aga oven. Two of the 8 bedrooms have been beautifully renovated and are set apart from the other six in a separate wing, which meant we could spread out. The remaining 6 were clean and comfortable. Although there is, as noted in the listing, limited to no mobile reception in the house, we were able to obtain reception by heading just down the driveway. You are still connected within the house though - we were impressed with both the range and consistency of the WiFi, even with 10 adults and 2 children using it, it never failed. The beautiful grounds include a loch (where we spent a number of mornings fishing), woods, a tennis court, and plenty of nearby walks. We would definitely recommend this as a fantastic farm house for any large groups looking to stay in the Highlands!

    Glyn2019-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • A very warm welcome, a touch of luxury. Lots of space in the house and the grounds/garden. The bedrooms are all comfortable and all with en-suite. The kitchen is really well equipped with just about everything you could possibly want or need. Plenty of dining space for casual and more formal meals. Lounge and library were ideal for gathering comfortably together. An ideal venue for groups or family get together. Would definitely recommend. The area is stunning and Lucy a fab host. The experience of a tasty picnic in a Moorland cabin and walk on the moor was well worth doing!

  • Farr House was an absolute dream. Myself and a large group of friends enjoyed a relaxing long weekend. Lucy was a fantastic host, meeting us and explaining everything. The property is beautiful with everything you could want, including an incredibly well equipped kitchen. Can't wait to return.

  • A lovely cottage in a small collection of properties. They are all well spread out and you don't notice any others. The place in set in some lovely countryside and walks from the cottage were marked on laminated maps (lots of different lengths and all sign posted on the trail which was great). The river at the bottom of the properties was beautiful, as was the scenery. The property had everything we could want, including a great TV and all the channels to keep the boys entertain in the evening. A great array of cooking equipment meant that preparing the evening meals was a breeze, some lovely touches of fresh flowers too. A high standard of finish throughout the property meant we had a great stay and would definitely go again.

  • Cathies Cottage was wonderful. Such a lovely location with the added bonus of walks out from the door. Inverness is close enough for supplies and is also a delightful city to explore. The cottage was clean, tidy and well equipped and we felt immediately at home. Farquhar and Lillian are great hosts and always on hand should you need anything.

  • Cathie’s cottage is very comfortable. The layout is good for 2 families with kids, with plenty of storage and well equipped kitchen. The cottage was located in the small town of Farr, which was surrounded by trees and grass land. It’s pretty quiet at day and night, Beds were comfortable, so you can sleep very well. Farquhar was so nice and friendly he welcomed us, gave us instructions and responded to our requests promptly. If the location is good for your trip, you don’t need to hesitate, this place is perfect.
