Private bathroom, private entrance, lots of space! Beautiful 4 season enjoyment. Close to hiking trails, ski slopes, and LLBean. It is rural Maine, GPS and internet can be sketchy. You might want to print directions before you travel. Don't hesitate to call if you need assistance.
Private bathroom/shower! Private entrance to basement space all to yourselves. Full size futon with memory foam pad, folks tell me it's very comfortable. Plenty of room for reading, Journaling, movie watching or sipping coffee. Includes a mini fridge, microwave, kuerig, and toaster. Sleep to the song of the loons, wake up to a view of the lake. Use the kayaks or SUP available.
We have a Sheriff that lives across the street. We live on Norcross Pond, it is usually very quiet.
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my 1-night stay there. As others have mentioned, it's a large, stylish space - can perch at the table to eat and drink, microwave to heat things, plates, bowls, cutlery etc. provided, keep things chill in the fridge, coffee maker (with coffee!) in the mornings - and a great comfy bed to sleep in, combined with a cozy seating area and even movies. Sparkling clean, and a lovely view in the morning out the window by the bed. A thoroughly charming place, great find, and a great value. I did have trouble finding the place - my fault - did not read thoroughly enough the notes on the location and Google's mis-identification of the location, so it is a good idea to double check - it's on the northern end of Norcross Pond, on the main Ridge Road. Vicki's responses were always extremely fast and thoughtful. Heartily recommended.

  • We will be visiting this place again everything was setup for us to have a relaxing time by the lake and we even heard the loon as we arrived!! We wanted to let nature entertain us for a few days and this was just the place for that ❤️ Thank you

  • Vicki's place is a real gem. It's big, private and the view to the pond is breathtaking. We really loved the fact that there was no internet or cellphone reception, it felt like a real vacation that way. Vicki was very welcoming and it was so nice of her to let us use her kayaks. We would love to stay with her again in the future.

  • Lovely place! All the amenities you need for a short stay. The pond is lovely, we made it for a swim,. Vicki has done a great job of making the space comfortable. We were in town for a family wedding, while we were there we used the refrigerator, microwave, played cards, ate snacks out on the Adirondack chairs overlooking the pond. Really a lovely place.

A cozy private cottage on Brettuns Pond where you can relax, swim, fish, and enjoy a getaway. Cottage is located on a dead end road and has over a hundred feet of water frontage right out the front door. Enjoy a campfire or a quiet evening listening to our loons singing at night. Sorry no pets allowed.
    Quiet neighborhood with nearby stores.
  • Matt's place was so cozy and impressive! We spent very little time at the cabin as we spent all Saturday sight seeing by the shore and Sunday left early morning to make the most of the day snowboarding before heading back home. Matt's house was very clean and cozy. I loved the layout. I can't remember how many guests it's listed to host, but I think the beds were a little small to share even with my 7 year old daughter (and I am small myself). I think it's an ideal get away for 1-2 people, probably not for a family or for 3 well-developed adults. But nevertheless, both my children and I loved it!!! The location is also beautiful and secluded. Must be amazing in the summer!! I would definitely recommend Matt's place and I would love to come again just to experience the lake in the summer!! Thank you so much Matt for your hospitality!!

  • Matthew's cottage is fabulous. This was my second stay. It is peaceful, super clean, extremely well appointed and furnished. The view is unbeatable. I'll be back again in May! Can't wait. I highly recommend this cottage for a relaxing and beautiful getaway.

  • The cabin is beautiful and in a beautiful location- right on the lakeside. The bedding was so comfortable and cozy and everything was very clean. I hope to come back sometime!

  • Matt and Christine's Cottage is truly a gem! It is beautifully appointed, cozy, super clean, peaceful and lovely in every respect. The view is outstanding and the perfect winter quiet was exactly what I needed. Great gas fireplace, very comfy beds, jetted bathtub....what more could one want? Matt and Christine are so responsive, too. I highly recommend this cottage! You will love it. I can't wait to go back and will be doing that next month.

    Kathleen2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing stay+ experience, blown away by the beautiful scenery by the lake, sunset and sunrise are astonishing, the cottage is very clean and cozy, fireplace was a perfect touch, and Matthew is very hospitable, we were met with snow on our second day and his son shoveled our driveway. Can’t say enough about this cottage.

If you are interested in rustic camping but are done with sleeping in a tent, and want to experience Maine on the cheap, this electrified space has housed many a guest over the years. It is an unfinished but cozy 1.5 story loft over a garage. There is no running water and it is NOT suitable for small children due to ladder access to sleeping loft and high deck. There is a camp toilet which is the responsibility of the guest to empty and rinse daily if used. Wifi inside or yard depending.
This space is not for the faint of heart, the ladder is steep and not safe for someone over 200 pounds. There is a small cot and couch on main floor if needed. There is a hotplate, microwave, toaster oven, 2 cup coffee maker, radio, ceiling fan, queen sized mattress and boxspring, and plenty of outlets. A handyperson could get a long term deal on this property if they were willing to put in finishing work. Water is available at the hose. This space is only available during the summer and early fall due to lack of heat and insulation. The whole property is full of paths and is situated on 5 acres of land.
This is a quiet neighborhood on a state route. Backroads lead to the mountains, main roads lead to the coast. We are 1 mile from the public beach. There are biking trails and Mt. Pisgah is a short ride away.
  • This place is super bad ass love it second stay for me

    Matthew2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Worth the stay if you don’t need many amenities. Easy to find and close to Augusta.

  • This place is amazing we used it to sleep on a fishing weekend totally Blown away super nice and just great change of pace

  • For the free-spirited, money conscious traveler! Perhaps one of the most memorable and fun places I’ve stayed. Certainly not for the faint of heart... but if it looks intriguing, go for it and be ready for a memory that’ll last a lifetime. LOVED staying here.

    Jamie2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • It is what it is, much better than camping but not glamping as described! Definitely good fun, thanks for having me Elizabeth.

    Philip2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth’s place was a great if you’re looking to stay at a place that’s between camping and glamping. When walking in, the radio was playing and the musical instruments were a very nice touch! The bed that’s up on the loft is comfortable, and I slept well. I didn’t use the appliance though. Elizabeth was really friendly and even offered fresh peaches. Thanks!

    Diane2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place if you need a good night's sleep on a tight travel budget. There is a clean bed or a sofa to sleep on. Sheets and blankets are provided. The host is very friendly. The rooster will wake you in the morning if you forgot your alarm clock!

Cozy little camp sitting on the edge of Sand Pond. One of the best waterfronts on this pond just a few steps out the door. Kayak, four person paddle boat and an aluminum row boat. Watch big bass fish swimming right from the landing. Fishing poles and life vests available. Sand Pond has a small public beach & it is only a hundred yards down the road. The local convenient store is just 2.4 miles away. Many hiking, swimming and fishing opportunities in the local area. No tv, no internet just peace.
Goose Landing is a family camp sitting right on the edge of Sand Pond in Chesterville Maine. It has one entrance that leads into an open space. The open space includes kitchen, dining room and living room. One bedroom with a queen size bed and closet is located off the kitchen. Two bedrooms are off the living room, one has a beautiful antique metal full size bed, ceiling fan & closet and the other has a bunk bed. Kitchen has gas stove, full refrigerator and freezer, counter, cabinets, sink and dish rack. Outside you will find a large wood deck with a picnic table & umbrella overlooking the pond also you will find a GAS GRILL, CHARCOAL GRILL, SMOKER and FIRE PIT. Our camp is meant to be a place folks can disconnect from the fast life as such you will find there are NO TELEVISIONS, NO WIFI & NO SATELLITE TV. You will find books and boardgames have taken there place. There is also a second Building we use for storage, we ask you please stay away from this. (It needs work) The pond bottom consists of mostly sand, silt and rocks. I would wear water shoes or flip flops for swimming. PETS ARE ALLOWED You must assume all responsibility for any damages or messes they cause. We are taking reservations up to 12 months out. Plan next years trip in advance and avoid the last minute rushing. If you enjoy winter activities or hunting you may be interested to know that we offer a STEEP discount for long stays between the months of November and April. Prices as low as $1,000 per month with heat and hot water included. Plug in your dates and check out the HUGE discount. Not easy to find a 3 bedroom house anywhere for these prices and you wont find one on a pond.
Lots of wildlife. Ducks, fish, frogs, snakes, deer, loons and rabbits just to name a few. Quiet corner of a little pond in rural western Maine. On clear nights the stars are amazing. Listen to the loons while roasting marshmallows on the campfire.
  • This is out 2nd time staying because we loved it so much! So much to do at the cabin..kids love it! Best place we have stayed at. Hoping they continue to rent it, as this has become our yearly family tradition.

  • Goose Landing was perfect for a week away from it all. We stayed during July 4th and neighbors lit giant fireworks over the pond and it was amazing. You can see through this pond it was so clear and clean. Everything is nicely maintained at the camp and it was a wonderful experience communicating with the hosts. They even surprised us with cupcakes waiting for us when we got there because this trip was also to celebrate my birthday. What a great time!

Guest suite with private bath in classic Maine farmhouse. Spacious loft room with your own fireplace to take off the chill. Great for weekend skiers or adventure enthusiasts looking for a home base for exploring Western Maine. In the summer months our property is a working farm and you are welcome to explore all that we have going on here! You have to walk through a shared kitchen and dining room to reach your suite.
This room is on the second floor of an older updated farmhouse. Expect classic features like low ceilings and narrow stairwells but charming details such as porcelain bathroom features and an original slate sink in our kitchen. The bathroom is private for your use during your stay and is located on the 1st floor, right at the bottom of the stairs leading to the loft. The room also includes a television. Guests are welcome to bring their own gaming or streaming devices or login to their own account on our guest Roku.
We are one mile from downtown Farmington, a quaint town in Western Maine home to many independant shops, artisan galleries, and a local college. We have a great local ski slope, Titcomb Mountain, which is a great community ski area and perfect for learing to ski. About 40 minutes North is Sugarloaf ski resort as well as lots of hiking and biking trails.
  • Nice, quiet farmhouse. The room is very spacious and comfortable. Nice place to get away.

    David2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed at Erica’s place for a few nights and had a very pleasant stay. Plenty of privacy as the house is basically split into two parts. I used the house as a base for skiing Sunday River/Sugarloaf and for some snowmobiling. The TV was nice to have to sit back and enjoy a movie at the end of a long day. Kitchen and dining room always available for coffee/tea and for cooking your own food if needed. Erica was extremely hospitable and nice to talk to. Can’t beat the friendly cat as well, who is always looking for a warm body to cuddle with. Great spot!

    Mike2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Super great stay perfectly located around the mountains and farming spots with a quaint down town. Their home was so adorable. Entire loft to yourself. They go by a pick up after yourself policy that I wish I knew before hand. Aside from that it was peaceful and beautiful and their amenities were fabulous. Amazing book collection and games

    Miranda2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place! Great hosts! Really good-hearted people :) Erica and Dave went out of their way to help me- even coming to my friend’s rescue to tow him out of a snow bank when he was stuck!

    Chelsea2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for a great place to stay and your thoughtfulness and kindness! We had a really nice time skiing at Titcomb Mountain AND appreciate you shoveling the 6-7 inches of snow powdah to our truck! Kevin, Rena and Addison

This teeny, quaint hut is only small on the inside, as you will likely spend most of your time out-of-doors on our 50 acre site soaking up all it has to offer. Read and snooze in the hammock, meditate and ponder as you look across fields, woods and the lake. Watch your bonfire crackle and snap as you unwind, listening to loons, owls and peepers. Many guests find plenty to do right here and never leave until they check out. The hut comes with a few stories, so don't hesitate to ask about 'em!
**PLEASE READ IN ITS ENTIRETY** This site has numerous limitations that can be easily overcome with your detailed planning. Hundreds of guests have found this spot to be simple and simply amazing. Daylight arrival is optimal for all sorts of obvious reasons. Situated in woods and gardens, you will be greeted by early morning light as you awake. No electricity, no running water or traditional showers (potable water is available elsewhere on the property), no kitchen and no real bathroom (a self-serve Reliance portable alternative loo is in the hut and access to a half bath in our lodge is a one minute stroll across the field), no internet and no wifi (unless you sit in my driveway). There is a fabulous, new self-serve solar shower island that brings a smile to many. Your shower will be ready for use upon your arrival. Refilling the shower bag is yours to do. Parking is a one minute walk from this abode, and we provide a cart to help you get your gear to the area. We abide by the Leave No Trace philosophy....if you're not sure, just ask!.
Turner is filled with apple orchards, family farms and small businesses focusing on organic agriculture. Immediately adjacent to our property you will find Turner Highlands golf course and restaurant, with other shops, grocery stores and local things to do just up or down the road apiece. Androscoggin Riverlands State Park is a 5 minute drive from here. A variety of disc golf courses, trails and a myriad of adventures await. Rural but close to Lewiston, Auburn, Augusta, Freeport and Portland.
  • A very quite and peaceful place to stay, hearing rain drops hit the roof, acorns falling and watching the turkeys. The perfect get away. The owner is very nice and helpful, she recommended many places to eat.

Check in/check out couldn’t have been easier (despite us arriving late and leaving very early), the bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was clean, cozy, and easily accessed with a bathroom attached. It felt like we had our own little area in the house. Would definitely stay again the next time we’re in Farmington or passing though!

Antique cape farmhouse 2'nd floor bedroom with full size bed. Short walk to the Barn at Silver Oaks down the street. There is a photo, but because people don't look, there are 4 cats! Located on 5 acres of land, 1 mi from downtown, public beach on Maranacook Lake and Norcross Point (free concerts held every Sunday July-August) 10 miles from Augusta, 1 hour drive to Reid State Park on Atlantic Ocean. Free range chickens and geese. Abundance of wildlife. Maine living.
For now this is just a bedroom available, but by next fall I am hoping to have the entire 2'nd floor available for air BnB. This is a NON SMOKING apartment. Cigarette smoking must be done at least 50 feet from entrance of home, and filters put in designated containers due to free range chickens. There are cats and a dog on the property, so if you have allergies probably not a good fit. However, there are no inlaid carpets; pine floors abound. Clean and mellow owner on site and shares apartment with guest during stay. Cooking facilities and all cooking items available. There is a public laundromat about 1.5 miles from home.
My neighborhood is located on a state route, but it is a quiet neighborhood and most of us keep to ourselves. I have 5 private acres that have paths to walk and gardens to enjoy, as well as wild edibles for your enjoyment. Lots of wild birds, including turkeys, as well.

  • I initially booked this room for the price, despite a bit of a drive to Augusta, but I would book it again in a heart beat. Elizabeth is a very generous and responsive host. I enjoyed our interactions and had a comfortable stay.

Booking now for summer 2020: waterside vacation in the peace and beauty of western Maine in a meticulously equipped log home, on pond (=small lake) with clear water, great fishing. Three levels, 3 bed/2 bath, living and family rooms, sleeps 6-8. Hot tub, wrap-around deck, gas grill, dock, swim raft. Canoe, 2 kayaks, paddleboat, lawn sports incl. 8 minutes to Farmington stores. WiFI,Cable, Roku, Xbox, movies, books, games. 2 night min., except July/August 7 night min., Sunday changeover.
Kiwi Lodge is on a small, secret pond (like a lake but more shallow) in Western Maine; a few minutes from the charming university town of Farmington: shopping, restaurants, movies, golf courses, wonderful hiking, and great lobster, of course! We'll send you our tested recommendations on things to do, to see, to eat. The coast is not far away; Portland's lighthouse echoes with history, restaurants are world class, fun stuff in the shops. Closer to home are a host of delightful small towns, each with its treasures of history and culture. Portland is an easy day trip; outlet shopping in Freeport (lobster by the water at Harraseeket); hiking up Bald Mountain (3.5 miles R/T) near Rangeley, or Little Bigelow (9.5 miles R/T) so many hikes including a nearby super-easy walk in the woods, suitable for almost everyone; a boat trip on Moosehead Lake in Greenville: Western Maine opportunities for recreation are endless.
Maine neighbors have holiday cabins around the lake but most are rarely used.
  • Cabin is just as nice as pictured. Very quiet. Well stocked kitchen. Great host who responded quickly to questions or concerns. Had a minor issue with one of the showers. After contacting the host, she had someone come to the cabin who fixed it that day which happened to be a Sunday! Was a little cool and rainy to spend much time outdoors but plan to return.

    Rosemary2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • the Kiwi lodge was perfect. private, beautiful and extremely clean. everything we needed was right there. I couldnt of asked for a better get away. the fishing was awesome. Kay was extremely nice and very informative. she is an excellent host.

  • This is a hidden gem in the heart of Maine. Close enough to civilization for all your vacation supplies, but remote enough to have days and days of uninterrupted relaxation. The house is beautiful with plenty of room for a large family to spread out and enjoy. There's lots of activities like badminton, boating, hot tubbing, puzzles, and games. Or you can just sit on the deck and watch the day go by. If you have a chance to stay here, don't miss it or you'll regret it.

    Peggy2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • The home is in a very quiet and peaceful pond. We had a wonderful time canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boating. The home was cozy and plenty of space for sleeping. We had a wonderful time and love the home and area and plan to go back again in the future.

    Amanda2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the place. Access to the lake and hiking nearby. Kay was super nice and responsive to all correspondence.

    Andrzej2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Kay and her place were just delightful. Needed some quiet time away -- found it out on the lake at 7 am one morning in her kayak. But also relaxed in Farmington, about 20 minutes away, poking in shops, sampling delicious foods - thanks to her recommendations. (An independent bookstore!!) Adventures in nature were close at hand as well. OH! and her breakfasts were unexpected and DELICIOUS and HEALTHY.

    Dori2018-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Kay's place is a absolute gem... My coworkers and I enjoyed staying at her place a lot and would stay there again if given the chance.

  • This house is wonderful! It feels like home as soon as you pull in the driveway. My kids were in in the hot tub, fishing, kayaking, and playing badminton the whole time we were there. We didn't even leave the house it was so perfect there. I highly recommend a visit there. Great family time!

  • Lyn and Bruce are an example of PERFECT AirBnb hosts!!! Communication was amazing from beginning to end. When I checked in, they made it clear that I could call (upstairs) with any questions or if I needed anything. Their basement apartment is quintessential Maine, complete with stunning views of mountain sunrises and sprawling night stars!!! They have thought of everything for the comfort of their guests, including snacks and breakfast items to start you out. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Wilton/Farmington area, look no further. This is it!!!

  • Linda was an amazing host, she was there to welcome us to the place and was very accessible if we ever needed something.

    Kyle2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Linda's place was very cozy and very clean. The bed matress was amazing, both me and my daughter said that we didn't want to get out of for being so comfortable, even for me who I normally like firm mattresses. Linda had thought of everything a guest may need including emergency items such as nail filers, Tylenol (which I was so grateful Linda had thought of), treats and breakfast items. My kids loved the space as well! Excellent host! Thank you Linda!

  • Charming home, cozy room with wonderful heater. Very close to coastal hotspots and easy access to I 95 . Sylvia is arguably the most charming host and makes a breakfast that is worthy of visiting for its own sake. Strongly recommend.

    Paul2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a remarkable airbnb-- outstanding for its service, especially for the economical price. It is a small room in a small house, so you need to be comfortable with the comings and goings of the small family and the two big friendly dogs...or if you wish to spend a lot of alone time in your cozy room with heater, Sylvia will respect that as well. The really outstanding part of it is your hostess sylvia, who is more sensitive and attentive to the needs of her guests than practically any airbnb hostess I've seen. She is a native French canadian, speaks fluent french and italian and english,

    Larry2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sylvia's place is tucked in among the trees in the countryside just north of Augusta. Thank you Sylvia for being a very welcoming host.

  • Sylvia is a very nice host. We had some funny talks and shared our travelling experiences. The room is spacious and homey. The heater is pretty strong and hot. The only thing is the address that means you need to focus on the road and carefully see the intersection. Very easy to drive over the place. Anyway, five stars. Highly recommend!

May thru Oct. This gem of a rental sits high on a bluff overlooking Messalonskee Lake at its widest point, toward Sidney. A real camp, off the (electric) grid, with rainwater supplied via rainbarrel, outside new clean portapotty, charcoal BBQ, lake access across railroad tracks. If looking for driving directions, they are located under the Location section under this listing under Directions.
It is completely green, off the grid, remote, yet in the heart of the Belgrade Lakes. Awesome affordable rustic romantic getaway!
Seven large interconnected freshwater lakes, Belgrade Lakes Village, restaurants, etc

    Dale2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved every moment of our stay! I don't think I have ever been more relaxed. You'll be surrounded by trees and water and wont see a soul while you're there. The nightly train, the acorns dropping, the call of the loons, the hissing & popping of the wood stove and fire pit are some of the coziest sounds ever. The propane camp stove worked like a champ. We brought it outside on the deck railing for some outdoor cooking. The water access is very private so we ended up skinny dipping. We did yoga on the deck, bush whacked through the woods, explored the train tracks and just breathed in the clean open air. We drove a Chevy Volt and were just fine on the road. We went 5mph and carefully maneuvered the car over the roots. This is a tranquil spot to relax and expand into nature if that is your cup of tea. It was definitely ours.

    Jenna2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second visit to John's cabin and it was even better than what I remembered from my first! I arrived a bit later than anticipated and ran out of sunlight before finding the road in, John was super quick to respond to ensure all was well when I reached out to him. The driving trail had a few sticky spots and ground clearance would have been helpful, but I just took it easy in my car and didn't have any issues. Everything is exactly as listed and described (minus the gas grill in the pics— bring charcoal!) so there shouldn't be any surprises. I would agree with the suggestion of bringing whatever you think you'll want and need as if on a camping trip and you should be golden. Pro Tip: A strand of battery-powered LED lights adds a lovely ambiance when it gets dark. Or just let the stars do the work! :) I find John's place to be a great balance of quiet and secluded while still having the convenience of anything you may need within a close driving distance if necessary. I would highly recommend it if you're looking to comfortably step back from civilization for a bit and spend some time in nature.

  • UNBELIEVABLE stay at this beautiful cabin. My boyfriend and I got a nice little getaway to unwind and relax. He was skeptical with the no electric or actual bathroom but that ended up being our favorite part. You're really forced to switch up your daily routine. The road to the cabin comes up quick so you really need to keep your eyes open but when you find it you’ll know. Will 100% be back. Enjoy your stay!

    Devin2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! I’m not sure how people could find anything to complain about. If you’re careful driving down the dirt road, you’ll arrive at an awesome little cabin overlooking the water. Great fire pit and deck to relax on. 5 stars!

  • This second floor apartment with private entrance has plenty of space. A large living room, kitchen area with microwave, mini fridge and toaster oven, full bath with shower, and bedroom. Everything was in good shape, and the living room has comfortable seating, a good TV - it felt home-y and cozy with the wintry country scene out the windows. Kathy greeted us warmly. There is a garage space (no garage door) for a guest to park in - a nice amenity during the snowy / icy winter. We would be happy to stay again!

  • This was a spectacular hidden little gem. Words and pictures, don't even begin to say or show just how wonderful it was there. My husband and I were beyond happy with our stay there. It was such a wonderful surprise to get the beautiful flowers for our anniversary. We loved the sunrises on both days that we were there and the beauty of nature and it's sounds. There was still some wonderful foliage to see. We definitely want to go back again and hopefully bring another couple with us. And we definitely highly recommend this place to any and everyone, especially if you are looking for a wonderful place for a getaway.

  • Lovely home by the water! Michael and Karen are outstanding hosts! They are very thoughtful - my husband and I booked for the weekend for a little getaway and they left us a bottle of Prosecco, which we appreciated. In addition, since the water is not potable, they had left us a gallon of fresh water. The cabin itself is beautiful, very well decorated and cozy. Perfect for relaxing and taking time away from the noise of everyday city life. My husband and I love birds, and it was wonderful to find a pair of binoculars since we forgot ours at home. We got to see a couple of loons and a bald eagle! We had a wonderful time and strongly recommend Michael and Karen’s cabin!

Your comfortable one bedroom is on the first floor with your private bath across the hall. You will be able to enjoy the country atmosphere on a quite dead end street. There is lots to do on the property as our home is located on a pond. You will be within driving distance of many area attractions.
You will have a private bedroom with a queen bed and your own bathroom with a shower right across the hall. You will have access to many shared parts of our property to include a dining room, a sun room overlooking the lake, a tv/exercise room downstairs, a small deck overlooking the back yard, a laundry area, a large back yard and lake front to swim or boat.
If you like the country you will love this area. There are six homes on our street with beautiful trees and fields with views looking down onto the lake and up into the hills. You will have access to hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, canoeing and boating right outside your door in the warm summer months. In the winter months you can use the same areas to snowshoe, cross country ski, snowmobile, and ice fish. If you want to drive a little there is unlimited Maine attractions like ski mountains and hiking trails close by. The ocean and its many beaches is close enough for a nice day trip. Being at the heart of Maine the possibilities are endless.
  • Our stay in Livermore was lovely. Denis and Brenda provided a nice room, clean and spacious, with closet and drawers (a few drawers were not empty, but there was room for our modest stuff) and access to a basement TV/game room, sunroom with breakfast table, kitchen, and their huge yard sloping down to a beautiful pond. (We didn't use the kayak or float, but it looked like fun!) Plenty of food choices for cook-your-own breakfast. Our own drawer in the main kitchen refrigerator and our own small refrigerator in the basement. No grocery stores in the immediate area, and Denis made sure we knew this before we arrived. The surrounding area is nice for walking. Denis and Brenda were knowledgeable about the area and the neighbors, quick to respond to pre-trip correspondence, happy to answer our questions and chat about anything we found in common.

    Becky2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Denis and Brenda's place while in Livermore for a wedding and could not have been more pleased with our stay! The space is quiet, private, and immaculately clean in a perfect setting by a lake. We felt immediately at home with a very comfy bed, our own AC unit, and spacious bathroom. There is also a nice rec room in the basement for guests to relax and watch TV. Denis and Brenda were friendly and caring hosts, turning the lights on outside for us when we came back late at night and providing a lovely spread for breakfast each morning. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

    Shayna2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • A stay at Denis place was a real treat. The house is located right by the lake providing it with a beautiful view as well as the perfect spot for a refreshing morning swim. The hospitality was phenomenal with Denis always going the extra length for us. He even called the pawn shop a few towns over to see if they had a used guitar for us. Highly recommend!

    Alexander2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Denis and Brenda were great hosts. They accommodated my late check-in and had everything in order when I got there. They also made sure I had enough to eat the next day even though I intended to leave very early. And what can I say about Brenda's banana bread- it was out of this world. I could not have started my day better.

    Kiran2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Maine primarily because of the hospitality and friendliness of Brenda and Dennis which was way beyond our expectations. The accommodations were comfortable and private. We did not have to go far for recreation since the house was located on a pond where we could canoe, fish and swim and even listen to the loons. They even invited us to pick some of their raspberries and sent us home with two jars of delicious homemade raspberry jam. We are already contemplating a return visit.

    Fred2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful stay! Brenda and Denis are the consummate Airbnb hosts – welcoming, kind, generous, and quick to suggest ideas (and provide materials for) restaurants, hiking, sightseeing, activities, etc. They made me feel like a part of the family, and as a solo traveler, that’s especially appreciated. AND, they were very respectful of my space. The room is clean, private and on your own side of the house. Bathroom isn’t attached, but it’s right across the hall. Breakfast was great, and they check in with you before you arrive to get a sense of what you like to eat so they can have it on hand. The house is great, with a beautiful sloping lawn down to the lake. LOVED the lake, swam 2-3 times a day in its clear, cool waters, and enjoyed the shade and great breezes while hanging out on the bench they have at the lake’s edge. Would love to return!

**During the wintertime, you must have AWD or 4WD to drive up the 3/4 mile driveway, otherwise be prepared to hike in** Surrounded by over 1,000 acres of undeveloped forests, this tiny 10x10 cabin offers deep relaxation in nature. Ski resorts are within 45 minutes. During the winter, guests must make a fire in the cabin's wood stove for heat! The bathroom is a compost outhouse and is located ~20 feet from the cabin. Bring a sleeping bag and headlamp!
The overall secluded nature of the cabin is what sets it apart. This cabin is perfect for anyone who is interested in getting away from all the hustle and bustle. The woods surrounding it are quiet and beautiful.
The cabin is located on 300 acres of private land. The only neighborhood are the 4 other people that also live on the acres.
  • Sara and her husband were both phenomenal hosts, and amazing people. Sara provided some local tips on food, and the cabin was everything I had hoped it would be. It is simple, charming, and close to nature. I hope to be back, and soon. I would give more stars, but they limit to 5/5.

  • If you're looking for rustic solitude and beauty, this is the place. If visiting in snowy months, be advised that an all-wheel or four wheel drive vehicle is important.

  • A great little rustic cabin on a beautiful piece of land in the mountains. Sara was very helpful with all the information I would need. Very generous host. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the spot. The night sky was awesome, and hiking around the land was freeing. I would book here again in a heartbeat.

  • Awesome little place, highly recommend.

  • This cabin was exactly perfect for a mini-self retreat. I read, wrote, meditated, and generally left feeling very refreshed. The cabin itself is simple, but comfortable and well-made. It was pouring rain the night I was there and I stayed cozy and comfortable. Beyond the cabin, Sara and Arthur's land is beautiful and they were very welcoming. I went for a run on some trails, sat by the creek, and just generally took in the quiet. It was really lovely. When I told Sara I was hoping to do some writing she brought out a little table and chair for me, which was incredibly thoughtful and much appreciated!.

    Meg2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great escape to lay your head and enjoy the wilderness! Very quite and as close to camping as you can get.

Welcome to The Loons' Lair on peaceful Minnehonk Lake in Mount Vernon, Maine! We hope you and your family will consider making this your vacation home away from home. The Loons' Lair, a 3-season cottage, is a great place for a spring or summer vacation, or a jumping off point for viewing the fall colors against the backdrop of beautiful lakes and classic New England villages.
When you arrive at The Loons' Lair, you will immediately find yourself unwinding as you listen to the rustle of the trees and the lapping of the lake on the shore, maybe even the haunting call of the loons. About a 25 minute drive the Maine capital of Augusta, The Loons's Lair is located on quiet dead end road in the small village of Mount Vernon. The year-round and seasonal neighbors along the road friendly but not intrusive. We created a space that is family friendly for all ages. We have a portable crib and other small child equipment available for your use, as well as books and games for various ages for the occasional summer rainy day. Minnehonk Lake is a small lake, most suitable for wind or human-powered watercraft, or perhaps a boat with a small trolling motor. This means you don't have to listen to loud power boats all day. The property is on the lake with steps down to the dock. There are a few feet of shallow shore before the depth drops off steeply, so flotation devices are recommended for non-swimmers. A few child sized ones are available for guest use.
Mount Vernon is a traditional New England village located in the Belgrade Lakes area about 25 minutes from the Maine capitol of Augusta, and the same from University of Maine, Farmington. There is an excellent library, the Old Post Office Café, a general store, an art gallery and a couple antique shops in town (hours vary seasonally). All are about a one mile walk from The Loons' Lair. Every Saturday morning at the community center there is a pay-what-you-can breakfast. It's a great time to meet people, both local and visiting, and learn more about the area. There are also numerous other interesting artists and businesses operated from homes nearby. A current business directory is available at the cottage. Farther afield you can visit the town of Belgrade for additional dining and shopping (10-15 minutes), or go to Farmington for shopping, a movie or events presented by University of Maine, Farmington. Augusta has most of the services and amenities of a small city, as well as chain and 'big box' stores.
  • Cannot say enough how great this place was. As Michelle had mentioned, it's a great jumping off point for a variety if hiking and day trips. The town of Mount Vernon was absolutely charming and peaceful. Would 100% stay again.

    Samantha2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location. Well stocked kitchen. Very clean. Thoughtful touches.

    Darlene2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle's place was awesome. Everything you would need was provided. Beautiful location, dock, outdoor fire pit, screened in porch and camp comfort exceeded all expectations.

    Doug2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The house was nice and clean. Had a great time swimming right off the dock! Our dogs also had a good time! The place was the perfect get away for us! We will definitely go back!

    Malinda2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was just as amazing as Michelle. She is super accommodating. The place was beautiful. I would definitely stay again

    Shannon2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle's place was great. Everything was clean and organized with plenty of beach towels, bath towels, games, and dishes. The bed was comfy and the decor was cute. We really enjoyed the large screened in porch and the little floating dock on the water. It was nice to play cards, read, or have a couple drinks on the porch without getting bothered by bugs. We saw quite a few loons and enjoyed hearing them in the evening. Sandy and Jeff were very nice and helpful fixing one problem we had quickly. Suggestions... bring water shoes as there are leaves, rocks, pine needles and such when entering the water. If you have kayaks/paddle boardsbring them too. The lake was so peaceful and calm!

    Betsy2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • The home came with amazing detail and tips. The property was absolutely perfect for a getaway. The lake it is on had great fishing and little traffic. Would recommend.

    Carlos2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don’t do this place justice! We really enjoyed staying here. It’s nice and kid-friendly, and the hosts were very thoughtful in the amenities they provided. We enjoyed swimming off the dock most every day, and the screened in porch was perfect for relaxing in the evenings. We definitely recommend this place! My only suggestion is make sure to print or screenshot the important information, like address, WiFi password, etc, because you may not have phone service once you arrive at the cabin to look the information up!

Welcome to the MaineCamp! 250 private feet on Locke Pond, this light and airy cottage boasts 1.5 private acres, an outdoor hot tub, about 1400' of outdoor deck/porch space, an outdoor lovers delight!
Welcome to 'The Mancamp'! This beautiful home boasts 250' of private lakefront on Locke Pond. If you're looking to spend a week just kicking back, relaxing in the hammock, fishing, kayaking, and relaxing in the private hot tub, you've found the right place. This home sleeps 7 and has 2 king sized beds, one full size bed and a full/twin bunk. This home boasts a beautiful western view and amazingly dark beautiful night time skies. The decks wrap almost all the way around the house to maximize your outdoor living, with a private 6 man hot tub to the north and a screen porch to the south, all with fantastic views of the lake. The house is on a hill as is seen in the photos, so older legs may have a bit of a hard time and that should be a factor in your consideration of this house. One of the four beds is in an open loft, so please take that into consideration as well. This home comes with everything you need to enjoy your stay, all linens are included and the house is cleaned prior to your arrival. Included in your rental are 3 wall mounted TVs, DirecTV access, xBox and Wii, 2 kayaks, a paddle boat, a swimming area, and swim float, a standalone air conditioner (not central air), WiFi, etc... the only thing not included is my pontoon boat, that can be rented separately for the week. The house has been designed with the views in mind, all rooms that face the lake are wall to wall glass and the well furnished decks maximize these beautiful views. The lake itself, Locke pond in chesterville, is a spring fed pond that’s 135 acres total. It is just under one mile long and ½ mile wide. The frontage has a suitable swim area to the right (north), I rake it out every year to keep it clean and swimmable. The water drops off gradually and a swim float is provided. The substrate is a cross between rock, sand and silt, I’ve always worn sandals when I swim here. The lake is primarily a warm water fishery, the large mouth bass fishing has always been fantastic. Other fish that are common are yellow and white perch, catfish and pickerel. I want to be very very very crystal clear about a couple of things, the mancamp and the area is boring! If you are not at home being one with nature, listening to the great outdoors, playing on the shorefront, fishing, reading a good book on the deck, relaxing in the hot tub, watching a sox game, enjoying a campfire with good friends and family, etc... then this is NOT FOR YOU! This house is in rural maine, not a tourist area, if you need vegas style entertainment, then go to the Belgrade lakes region, that's much more suited to those types of activities. Also, and I want to be very clear on this, I would much rather rent to the right type of clientele then simply fill up my reservation calendar. If you're looking for "hotel clean", then book a hotel. I don't want to be too much of a downer, but I've received some bad reviews due to mismatched guests looking for a meticulously maintained property, the mancamp is not that. I welcome families, children, dogs and generally folks looking for a great outdoor experience with privacy, a beautiful small pond experience and as comfortable of an experience as I can provide. Please note, during the peek season (mid june to labor day) I offer three types of rentals, 5, 6 and 7 night, all rentals must end on Friday but can start on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. During off season I have a four night minimum stay and am somewhat flexible on checkin/checkout days. On a personal note, this home has been a labor of love for me, I purchased a small camp 12 years ago and have been adding to it ever since. I’ve fallen in love with the area, the lake, the wildlife, you name it, I love it. It’s a get away from it all for sure, nice and quiet, very very secluded and peaceful. If you’re looking for a quiet rest away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, then this is your place. The college town of Farmington is only 15 minutes away, so as secluded as this is, it’s also not far away from all the restaurants, movie theaters, quaint shops, etc… Oh! One other thing, if you’re into cycling, then this is a mecca for you, there are hills everywhere, and if you’re looking for some good challenging rides, then let me know, I’d be happy to share some of the routes I’ve mapped out over the years. Regarding, pets… if your dog is quiet, then he/she is welcome. I’m allergic to cats so I can’t allow them. This home has been my weekend "project" for several years now, so it is a "work in progress". It is not a construction zone by any means, but there are still odds and ends that I have not gotten to yet, such as getting all the trim up, finishing all the painting, I have some squeeky floors, etc... so this house is far from perfect, but it is an amazingly private getaway in the woods, so if little things don't bother you and what you're looking for is a comfortable escape, then please consider this home. The house is at the end of a one mile dead end gravel road, so if gravel roads spook you, then please don't book. I don't rent the house out after about mid december, just too cold and snow/ice are an issue.
Privacy! This is for folks who want to get away from noise and crowds. Close to the end of a dead end road, virtually no boat traffic, and almost nobody comes down the road.
  • We had a great time in Maine staying at John's house over Thanksgiving weekend!

    Nick2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful, a deluxe lakeside cabin. Very private secluded location with a hot tub overlooking the water. Perfect for a rustic getaway!

    Noah2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, relaxing on the pond with Bass!

    Laura2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • My family enjoyed our annual vacation to Maine at John’s house! We had wonderful weather and barely left the waterfront. The home is so private and on a quiet pond - so if you are looking for rest and relaxation, this is it. Tons of fish in this pond - especially right off the dock. Saw the eagle everyday. House is very spacious - the downstairs master is private with its own living area. John’s instructions were very clear and he was always quick to respond to our questions. We had a bad thunderstorm that knocked out the power and a tree had blocked the road - Mike (property manager) was available right away to hook up the generator and even took care of clearing the tree from the road. He made the best of an unfortunate situation. Thanks for a great stay at your home!

    Laura2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at John’s house! It’s very spacious with beautiful wood details, high ceilings and comfortable places to relax. The water was peaceful and clean. Listening to the loons and watching the sunset from the porch were unforgettable! The road was a little rough to get down but that was expected along with the slopes down to the house and water. It’s a great place to stay to enjoy the beauty of Maine in a small and quiet town.

    Alexandra2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed the lake! Saw lots of wildlife, bald eagles, loons and beavers. We swam, there were floats to lounge on and the floating dock to hang out and enjoy the sun. Fishing poles for the kids to fish with. Kayaked every day. Enjoyed the fire pit, watching fire flies, grilling on the deck. Basement room is great for kids, to hang out and watch movies. Lots of kid dvd's. Everything you need to cook, some bonus items for s'mores in the pantry. Beautiful location. Seeing the stars at night was magical. Beautiful view. Watched the sunset every night. My 1st trip to Maine and it was fantastic.

    Angela2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a spacious house with amazing views. Great decks and a screened in porch, such a relief from city living. Privacy at its best and locals at country stores who couldn’t be more friendly. Best part was the amount of fish in this pond! Hidden gem for sure!

    Catherine2019-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our family enjoyed a wonderful weekend at John's Maine Camp. We were the first family in for the season and the home was sparkling clean, cozy and all the amenities ready for us to enjoy. John communicated well, and he covered all the basis with his detailed instructions. We would definitely stay again. Beautiful location and privacy on the lake.

  • The house was great - right on the lake, comfy beds, nice amount of space and kitchen. The huge window looking at the lake was perfect for breakfast. The neighbors were also friendly. The host was very communicative and made checking in/out and the stay in general very easy.

  • This was a lovely place. Becky is a very responsive host, and the accommodations were as described -- a little better than I expected, actually. The place is simple, but was very clean and Becky provided a bunch of small touches, like some provided food items, that made us feel very welcome. The spot is quite nice as well. Beautiful lake, nice to have boats provided, lots of loons and other wildlife to view. All in all we had a very nice stay.

    Alan2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Becky’s place and it was great! Plenty of space for 4 people, was very clean, right on the water with lots of local recommendations. We had sandwiches from the Wayne general store that were fabulous. Beautiful fire pit to enjoy at night. Easy to find and great location. Everything was as expected once we arrived and Becky was great at getting back to us quickly. Would definitely recommend!

    Sarah2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was a truly amazing stay. As we drove in we knew this was a truly amazing stay. We parked we could see the lake within feet of the cabin. At night we would just stop by the fire as a family and relax. In the morning we would do the same thing just open the door and enjoy the views and sounds. Everything was well above what we were expecting. This is such an amazing experience that we made it a spot we would like to go back to every few years. I highly recommend this stay to anyone who wants to relax, get away, or just unwind.

    Mike2018-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful spot. A great, not too many frills, lake "camp" cabin. Becky is a great host and the availability of amenities is very well thought out. It was so lovely we extended our stay on Androscoggin Lake!

    Michael2018-08-08T00:00:00Z

    Mick2018-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, lakefront cabin. Perfect place for a couple to get away. Enjoyed the fire pit every night and dined at the picnic table inside the screen house. Had everything we need & more.

    Jessica2018-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Just returning from camp. We had a great time, the weather was beyond fantastic, and the camp was perfect for 3 adults. Becky was always available for any questions. My only concern was the hill down to the beach, I wish there were stairs, but I do understand that would be a big investment. We hope to return soon! Thanks Becky!

See you in the spring! Large windows to enjoy the view, even when you are lying in your comfy queen bed. Designed for relaxation, enjoy morning sunrises and evening sunsets, either inside or out by the gas fire. The cabin has "spectacular views and utter peacefulness". Yet it is only 5 mins from downtown Farmington with its shops, restaurants, movie theater, concerts, groceries, and walking trails. Experience hiking trails, kayaking, swimming, mountain biking, and more. Enjoy a unique getaway!
There are a lot of beautiful views in this area, but people are truly amazed when they see my view, with the mountains to the north and the lights of the town to the east. This is my hometown. I know the area very well and am ready to share my favorite spots, history, and anything else you might want to know about the area and grand state of Maine. I have maps, ideas, and the knowledge. Although the house is near the main house it is very private with a private outdoor seating area. With the comfortable cabin as your home, you'll be happy you chose the Hilltop House! Sorry, due to allergies, no pets.
The neighborhood is rural, with the occasional sound of cows, owls, crickets, birds, distance chain saws, occasional mowing.
  • We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was exactly what we needed. Quiet and relaxing. I was particularly happy about the extremely comfortable bed. The cabin has a lot thoughtful little touches and the view is amazing!

Private camp, that feels like a tree house surrounded by old growth pines. This lakeside cottage on Great Pond has two fun bunk rooms and a master with stunning lake views. The cabin has an open floor plan with fully stocked kitchen, fireplace, reading nooks, large porch, grill, hammocks, dock, and mooring. It is a charming, cozy cottage with antiques and skylights, perfect for reading and lake sports. The cabin is unhooked, no phone, TV, or internet (you can bring your own-there is reception).
The woods are filled with wild flowers and life (loons, bald eagle, moose...).
Belgrade Lakes is cute maine town tucked between two lakes
  • We had such a wonderful, relaxing vacation staying at Nina's place! The view is spectacular, right on the water, and the site is within driving distance to quite a few hiking trails with stunning views (we did French Mountain, Round Top Mountain, and "The" mountain trails) We took a canoe trip out to Oak island and paddled right past loons. Another day, an eagle flew past and roosted in the tallest pine at the point of the cove for a while. My oldest son was transfixed, and kayaked right out to the bottom of the tree to have a closer look. I swear the eagle was looking right back at him. The kitchen had all the supplies we needed for cozy dinners in (we brought the week's worth of groceries with us, no large store nearby, though Day's store in town has almost anything you need in a pinch) and we had family card games by the woodstove every evening. I was able to read an entire book and catch a nap or two, we found time to do some watercolor paintings, and just have really high quality screen-free time together. The bunk rooms were practically custom made for our two boys and two girls The entire family was over the moon about the entire experience. Highly recommend for a nice family getaway!!!

  • We had a stunning week at this cabin. Beautiful surroundings, great place to unplug and reconnect with God and nature

    Julie2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nina's lake house is just simply wonderful. Her house has lots of loons decorations from the lampshades and tiny models of loons to full on beautiful pictures of loons. You can also clearly hear the loons at night while in bed with a full view of the lake and sun roof that gives you a look at the pines. Nina was extremely sweet from the very beginning, she called us to make sure we got in properly and suggested a few things that we can do around the area. There were lots of kayaks and paddle boards etc which we were free to use. We got lost in the lake on the day of checkout but Nina and her help were extremely nice and understanding about the whole business. I would highly recommend!!

Its a beautiful quiet setting right on the lake and the cottage itself has such welcoming, comfortable public spaces. Naps in the window seats can't be beat! • I needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and Tim's place was the perfect retreat. Cabin was so comfortable and I wanted for nothing with his equipped kitchen, in which I cooked a nice meal for an old friend who lives in the area. Highly recommend!

  • The one-bedroom house was beautifully finished with a great kitchen and open layout. Everything seems very new and was spotlessly clean. There were lots of nice touches to make the experience smooth. Outside the home, the property is also beautiful, going right down to the lake, with multiple options for seating. We enjoyed beautiful sunrises, went apple picking 20 minutes away and to Bigelow brewing. There's lots more to do in the area and its a great get-away.

    Kyle2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at this lakeside cottage. Tim was thoughtful in sending us helpful tips, and made it easy to make use of the kayaks on the lake.

    Elizabeth2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • A comfortable house right on the water with all the comforts of home. We enjoyed being able to get out on the water with the kayaks. This is a great get away where you can relax to the sound of the Loons singing their songs in the evening. Tim is an exceptional host! We will definitely consider a return trip.

    Jim2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Neat and clean cabin on a beautiful lake. Everything we wanted and more.

    William2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot say enough nice things about this location. A beautiful clean space with plenty of lake frontage in a private cove. We had use of a fire pit, kayaks, and several docks and patios to sit on and enjoy. You can go swimming right off the dock and swim out to the floating dock very easily. There are tons of loons, the water is very calm, and there are lots of sights and sounds. Stores are very close in Skowhegan and Waterville. This is a real gem and Tim is a great host!

    Gregory2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. Hang out on one of the docks, enjoy some great kayaking, swim in the water or enjoy any of the DVDs or games provided. Tim was a great, informative host and this house was perfect for a summer weekend trip.

A cozy summer cottage on David Pond in an idyllic spot for camp fires, board games, swimming, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. Perfect for reconnecting with family and friends.
Our cottage has everything but your food and clothes! Expect to have sunrise breakfasts on our screened-in porch. Enjoy a cookout by the grill and picnic table for lunch after a swim and canoe ride around the lake. If you bring your boat, there is access to a private boat launch on our pond. No loud music, shouting, yelling is allowed from 10pm to 8am. HEATING SYSTEM - The camp is heated using baseboard heaters. The thermostats are in the dining room and kitchen. These are not to be set higher than 70 during the day and 60 at night. TRASH - Separate your garbage. Clean all glass, tin and plastic and put in one container for recycling. Put cardboard in another, regular trash by itself and returnable bottles and cans in another. Please take all trash to the bins in the small shed near the driveway entrance and secure the door tightly. DOGS - Do not let dogs on the furniture, especially the beds. Please clean up any refuse. BOATS AND WATERFRONT – Safety is of the greatest concern. You may access the water in front of the camp for swimming, canoeing and kayaking. Should you wish to launch a watercraft by trailer, you may do so using the shared private launch on the cove, which you can access off of Sandy River Rd. You are welcome to use your own canoes and kayaks and may carry them down to the shore or use the common lot to launch them. Boats that are stored at the shore are done so at owner’s risk. KAYAKS, CANOES –You are permitted to use the kayaks and canoe located on the premises. LEAD TACKLE – Do not use lead tackle when fishing. Lead causes fatal poisoning to our water birds such as loons.
Our cottage is in a rural part of the Central Maine Lakes Region. We are on a private lane with other family cottages, about a 20 minute drive from I-95. There are Kennebec Land Trust hiking trails within a mile of the house and we are just a short drive from public access to a number of other fantastic lakes for boating, swimming and fishing. There are plenty of opportunities for walkers, runners road and mountain bikers in the neighborhood.
  • We had a very nice Columbus Day weekend at Sky's place. The home is spacious and comfortable with all the amenities we needed. We used the canoe and kayaks for exploring the pond and the bass fishing was outstanding! The fire pit was perfect for cooking those Maine red hot dogs and relaxing with a few drinks at night. Sky was very responsive and I would definitely return.

    Brian2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous home by the lake with great amenities.

    Wilfrido2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Hosts are SO thoughtful and really set up some perfect baby items for us knowing we would bring in a baby. Really nice to have w & d and all the kitchen ammenities you need! We would definitely stay here again.

    Jenn2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great long weekend here! The house was bigger than expected and very clean and comfortable. We love to cook and Sky's place is perfect for preparing family meals in the kitchen or on the propane grill. The waterfront is sandy and stays shallow for quite a distance, perfect for young kids, and the kayaks and canoe are in great shape as well. Location was just what we were looking for: off the beaten path but still a quick drive to the supermarket. I would definitely stay here again!

    Ashley2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the cottage. It was clean and exactly as pictured. The area is peaceful, quite remote and everything is at least 30 minutes away but if you are looking for a place to relax, this is the place for you. (no cell service but the house has WiFi). Thank you!

    Florence2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was a beautiful place to visit . The home was much more spacious then we though it would be . The pictures do not give it justice. It had a great yard for kids too. We unfortunately had a little more rain then I would have liked but had a wonderful stay still. There is a market about 10/15 minutes away with almost anything you need if you forget it or need it. Everyone that worked there was very nice and friendly. We went canoeing and kayaking these were things included with the home . We also had a fire one night . The water is shallow by the house so you can’t jump off . I would recommend getting a dock further out to swim to like many of the other house had . Just because we have small children and they want to jump off and it would have kept them more occupied . Also, not going to lie I would have enjoyed it . We did bring tubes so I would recommend doing that to float around. We were able to float around and swim and the water was beautiful . Our kids also fished didn’t catch anything to big but it was perfect. Is would recommend it and I would stay there again I would even purchase a place there. Thank you for a wonderful vacation !

    Colleen2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed the peaceful location of the house. David Pond was beautiful and quiet. We loved kayaking around the pond which was larger than expected. We saw that you needed life jackets to kayak but couldn’t find adult sized ones. We enjoyed sitting on the screen porch in the morning drinking coffee and tea. In the evening we had a fire in the pit and roasted marshmallows. We could not find the wood pile under the trap so we ended up buying wood. We did swim in the lake and it was nice, except for the drop off after the rocks. That was unexpected and our nephew went to grab his football and slipped off the rocks and needed help getting to the shallow area.

    Joy2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sky’s place is a hidden gem! A vacation on David Pond was exactly what the doctor ordered. Only about an hour and 15 min from Portland, this was such a quiet respite from everyday hustle and bustle. Nothing beats having a coffee by the pond in the morning and bird watching. The area in general (Fayette) is so secluded. The two kayaks were great to have as well and we explored the rest of the pond (it’s quite big!). Swimming was so easy, there’s no muck when you walk in (mostly sandy) and warm as ever. Sky’s house is adorable with all the amenities you need and cute decor touches to boot! The screened in porch was a lovely way to eat breakfast and end our day by all getting together and having dinner. I would definitely stay here again and recommend Sky’s place to others! I can’t rave about it more - we had such a peaceful and relaxing time here. Do yourself a favor and take a relaxing vacation at Sky’s place on beautiful David Pond.

Did I mention Ricker Hill Orchard and Farm Stand, just down the road a piece? On and on and on, or stay onsite....there is plenty to do without going anywhere
  • Wow Wow WOW !!! The photos do NOT do it for this place. Upon renting Mary told me that the tent palace never disappoints... She was not wrong ! This place was more then perfect. Two huge camp fires to cook on one inside and one outside. The shelter really creates the most uninterrupted trip. Not even the rain could damper. Flush-able outhouse was so nice and the solar shower was so nice to rinse off after you swim on your own privet dock. Canoes and kayaks were included and so nice to just have right at the dock. Everything you need is already here , napkins, recommendations, a few utensils , garbage bags... If you didn't think of it Mary already did and has it ready for you. She was so pleasant and seemed so excited to get us settled in. We 100% will be coming back to this tiny little paradise. She mentioned a winter yurt , and we are already looking it up ! Thanks for knowing just was we needed Mary!

    Justin2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was above and beyond what we expected. We were bummed that we only got a night here because there were enough activities to last us a whole week! Mary is the perfect host and we were lucky to stay in her camp for a night. We will be back!!

    Alex2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot, awesome having boats and private dock so convenient. Really enjoyed swimming and canoeing. Flushing toilet a major bonus.

    Rosemary2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Tent Palace was amazing. We had such a great time, and Mary is the best - even delivered us cookies while playing volleyball. We will definitely be back!

    Alisha2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Tent Palace was the perfect escape from the city that we needed. We enjoyed swimming and canoeing in the pond with the provided canoe. While stargazing on the dock we heard the local loons singing and were checked out by a curious beaver! I only wish we had booked more than a single night. Great place for a couple!

    Nick2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is your own little slice of heaven. If you enjoy lake life, there’s simply no better option.

    Daniel2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Mary was such a great host and this spot was super cool. Very secluded and quiet with everything you need already at the campsite. I even managed to forget my pillows and after asking Mary if she had any spares laying around she was on her way with 2 brand new pillows with in 5 minutes. Overall it was a great camping experience that I would recommend to anyone!

    Garrett2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • O. M. G. This place. This place. This place. I took my 3 year old daughter here for our first camping experience. It’s a lot of working “vacationing” with a toddler alone, but this spot made it all worth it. Totally private with our own dock and raft to swim out to. Our own kayak and canoe, outdoor shower stall with solar heated water, and a fire pit outside as well as a fireplace inside hooked up to a stone chimney (with grate that you can cook on). We had crazy rain all night Friday and all day Saturday but we stayed dry and warm inside the lean to. The tent is up on a platform so that stayed dry too! There was an awesome family of loons to watch and hear as well as a cool beaver hut at the end of the lake. HIGHLY recommend.

Dave's Place is located on a dirt road just west of Clearwater Lake. It's just a half mile walk to public boat launch and beach. Downtown Farmington is approximately 5 miles where you can find all the local necsecities, restaurants, shopping, groceries, laundry, banks, hospital, police, and a post office. The cabin has a kitchen, dining room, bathroom with a shower, bedroom with a queen size bed, another bedroom with a full size bed.
The livingroom is downstairs. Enter through garage, daylight basement. There may be a few of our personal belongings in the garage, for we are constantly trying to upgrade the space. Suggestions are encouraged Thank you for everyones suggestions, and costructive criticism.
There are only 2 neighbors in sight. One across the road, and the other is through the woods a piece. Great neighbors, and a wonderful neighborhood! There's always lots going on arond the lake. Don't be suprised to hear the loons or owl's at night. you might even spot a whitetail deer in woods out back. It's a short walk to the store, public beach, and public boat launch.
  • Such a great little cabin! We drove up to go snowmobiling for a few days and it was so beautiful. Right above Clearwater lake. Jane and Dave were quick responders, helpful and very nice! We would stay again. 😀

    Ashley2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy cottage! 10 minutes to town, nice quite private road. Bar downstairs. Nice place for a weekend getaway. Do recommend

    John2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first Airbnb experience and we couldn’t have had a better time. What a great little cabin in the mountains of Maine. So much better than a hotel room. Jane was an amazing host. We will definitely be visiting again.

    Missy2019-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for the perfect cabin in the woods to rest and relax and we found the perfect place at Jane and Dave’s cabin. They made sure everything was perfect for us and we will certainly go back again.

    Courtney2019-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cabin just far enough from town to feel peaceful and quiet. Pleasant deck, working TV and Wifi, and frequent visits from adorble wildlife friends. On a dirt road that's in great condition, and has zero potholes (far less than many of the surrounding paved roads!) Great location for a quick drive into town for ice cream, or a long walk along a gorgeous little chunk of Maine. We had a great time!

    Ellen2018-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Jane and Dave's. The house was exactly as described. It was very clean and comfortable. The view off the front deck, master bedroom and dining area look out over the lake across the street. It is clearly visible this time of year, maybe not so much when the leaves come back. The neighborhood is peaceful. I recommend a SUV in the winter as the access road is dirt and can get muddy. Dave let us know that right when we book and communication was great via text through the AirBnB app. We never met Dave and Jane but they were very helpful and live close by if we needed anything. The downtown of Famington was great. We enjoyed the little shops and recommend visiting Liquid Sunshine and the Homestead Kitchen for anyone who stays here. It is a great little New England downtown. There are farms all over, especially maple syrup farms. We felt that we totally got our moneys worth staying at Jane and Dave's house.

  • It was so comfortable for the two of us. Had its cute oddities that made it interesting and enjoyable. The Hosts were amazing and did not seem to be bothered when we bothered them. Had information for the area and offered info as they found out our interests. The internet service was very good and not slow. Very clean. Had all the utensils needed for cooking on the stove or out on the grill. I would definitely go back.

As just a quirky side note: "Serenity" should be our middle name!
  • Randell and Pamela’s place was amazing. This cabin is so cute & was perfect for the four of us to sleep after a long day of skiing! It was right in the middle of sugarloaf and sunday river so it made for the best of both worlds. The photos do not do this place justice- it is SUCH a awesome little cabin with plenty of space for everything even with its size! The sunrise view in the morning was also amazing. While we stayed, we got some awesome local tips from the hosts & found a cool brewery in the woods for some apres ski pizza & beer with live music and good people. The price of this place was GREAT & it had everything we needed & more! Would definitely come back & would recommend to stay!

    Gianna2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Randell and Pamela's place is great! Cozy and comfortable and with a great view in the morning. It is a wonderful place in the winter and would also be a wonderful place in the summer! We were headed to northern Maine and it was a great halfway point for us that was easy to get to and not too far off the main drag.

    Claire2020-02-16T00:00:00Z

  • A great place if you want to get further away than most for the "serenity" that is the goal of this property. Pet friendly is a plus for those seeking this feature along with a thoughtfully appointed standalone cabin with everything one might need. Don't forget to enjoy the sunrise from the perfect private view.

  • If you are looking for a super cozy cabin in Maine with the most fantastic hosts that you can find, then this is your place! Randell and Pam are some of the nicest people you will ever meet! The cabin was super adorable, clean and cozy and we felt like it was home once we walked in the door. We just loved it and we are already planning our next vacation back!! Thanks Randell! So glad we found this gem of a place. One last note, there was a huge storm that came thru the area before we arrived and we had so many detours due to roads washed out, no power, roads closed and we were exhausted and stressed when we finally arrived. We did not have to worry about anything because Randell took great care to have the generator running and it was so nice to finally relax. It was perfect for us!

Pine Cone Yurt will not disappoint in any season! Spring through fall affords you lakefront access for a myriad of things to do. Local hiking trails, farm stands and activities abound. Wintertime invites you to snowshoe, cross country ski, snowmobile or ice fish right from your front door. A little extra planning helps you overcome small limitations of no electricity, no running water/showers and no internet. Pretty much everything you need for pleasure can be found right here...just ask!
Unlike other yurt rentals, this highly sought after lakefront spot gives our guests access to a multitude of activities both onsite and nearby. Very little planning is needed, as we offer pretty much whatever you might need to cook, play, relax and sleep while nestled in the woods. In warmer months, a solar shower island/food prep area with running water is directly in your back yard. Games, puzzles, and books of local lore for all ages if you choose. All you really need to bring are your provisions. Not an outdoor enthusiast? Cozy up in front of the Jotul propane fireplace with a little wine, a good book and a great friend! Stay warm out of doors huddled by the bonfire pit (wood provided). And of course, the requisite hammock for swinging, snoozing and such. Owls, loons, deer, turkeys, foxes and bald eagles are daily occurrences here.
Rural Turner, Maine boasts open farmland, apple orchards and dairy cows gently mixed in with residential and recreational areas. There is a popular, public 18-hole golf course, restaurant and pub adjacent to our lakefront area, with many additional golf courses a short drive from here. Disc golf afficionados have 3 local courses to choose from. You can often experience the moon and the sun at the same time on your drive here, while viewing the Presidential Mountain Range in NH as your westerly views. Androscoggin Riverlands State Park is a mere 5 minute drive, and a visit to Nezinscot Farm will leave you with tons of food and farm memories! Try the macaroons, breads and homemade cheeses! Restaurants and eateries are few and far between in the area. The sidewalks roll up pretty early except for the grocery stores and corner neighborhood gas/sundry stores. Feel free to chat with me about plans while you are here. Get your provisions early in the day!!
  • We stayed in Winter and it was magical! No one else around, the frozen pond was fun to play on and it is steps from the door! Kids loved the swings and open field to play in as well! We made fires outdoors in the great fire pit and were warm and cozy at night in the yurt! Mary has everything you will need during your stay and is easily reachable if you have questions! Beautiful spot and we really enjoyed our winter getaway!

    Nicholle2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the yurt for a night away in the middle of winter with our 4 and 6 year old. The property was serene and beautiful, and the yurt was clean, cozy and warm. It had everything we could have possibly needed for a stress-free, off the grid experience. We built a huge snowman on the ice, roasted marshmallows and looked at the stars, falling asleep to a warm fire. Thanks, Mary! We’ll be back!

    Eva2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience unlike anything I’ve done in a long time I’ll definitely be back again🌺

    Kate2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful experience for our first yurt stay! My husband and I really enjoyed the relaxed and simple living, and our boys were amazed by the adventure of it all! Off-grid was a much-needed element to our overnight winter escape, and we will be back for another soon. Mary made every step of the process a breeze, and had the stove roaring for us, along with a still-warm homemade coffee cake waiting for us when we arrived! We appreciated the simplicity of making easy camp meals and eating from the blue enamel ware. All in all, it was just what we needed, and we highly recommend the Pine Cone Yurt!

    Allison2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt is perfectly stocked with everything that you would need. It was so comfortable and cozy with the propane fire. Mary was so kind and answered all our questions. We can't wait to book another trip to this amazing yurt

  • A great experience away from home. Mary has been a great host. She helped me with planning my wife’s birthday by putting up beautiful decorations. We loved it a lot. Location is just awesome as well as drive to the location. It was super clean and everything you need was available. I would recommend this place to anyone who would want to spend some quality time with their family away from noise of the cities

  • Another great stay at the Yurt! From the delicious cinnamon cake she left us and the cozy ness of the fireplace... we could not have asked for a better little thanksgiving get away! Mary is the best and we highly recommend a stay at her beautiful place!

  • My mother and I had a wonderful time staying in the Pinecone Yurt! It was so nice to have a weekend to just relax, unplug, and not have anything in particular to do. This is such a peaceful, cozy location and we would recommend it to anyone seeking a weekend away! Mary lives on the property and is very easily reached and very willing to help with anything you may need. Thanks again, Mary!

  • This is the second time I've stayed here. The first time was over four years ago. The hospitality and comfort I remembered years ago has remained! What an awesome and affordable place to stay, close to the mountains. After a long day at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center I decided to stick around Sunday night instead of making the drive back to Portland. I remembered staying at Nathalie's place from a trip years before, so I set up a reservation to stay that night (super last minute, making sure to let her know that I understood if it was too rushed and didn't mind finding other options). She got back to me right away and had the room ready for me in no time!! I even got to spend the evening in the hot tub (my favorite part!). This is a great spot to stay for an individual or a couple looking for a ski or bike getaway in the Carrabassett Valley, without paying resort prices! One of my favorite spots to spend a night.

  • A nice stop for the night on our way up to Sugarloaf. We got in after midnight, we had clear instructions on how to enter the house and didn't have to bother anyone to get in. Unfortunately didn't have time to check out the jacuzzi but it looked awesome!

  • Nathalie is an incredible host! She was very sweet and was extremely helpful during our stay. We were even offered some apples off her apple tree and there were some trails off the back yard we got to explore with our pup. She told my husband and I where all the good spots are in town, and we were not disappointed. Our area in the home was very cozy and hope we can come back to see her again!
