  • Absolutely loved it! Such a nice place. Great location as well. Very homey.

  • We had a cozy weekend stay - convenient location for accessing both the park and nearby wineries. The tub and the electric fireplace were great for the winter!

    Caroline2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Stillness and seclusion, despite the other houses nearby. Front Royal is only 10 minutes away if you need to be social.

    Amy2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a well designed space with a good supply of kitchen, bathroom and vacationing items. We were very pleased with the wonderful location, adjacent to the Park, which was perfect for a hiking vacation. January weather was excellent for being out without many other folks on the trails.

  • Cabin was perfect for a weekend away as a couple. Pictures don't do the place justice! Much nicer and cozier than I expected.

    Louisa2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely and cozy cabin close to the Appalachian trail!

    Andrew2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin as a woman traveling alone felt really safe especially since you can close the gate and it is in a neighborhood though you would not know it. The claw foot tub heated floors gazebo porch and quaint decorations and layout really made my two night stay so relaxing. And being able to hike from the cabin is a huge plus !

The house is located at the top of Chester Gap and is only a 5 minute walk to the Appalachian trail. Attractions like Luray caverns, Skyline Drive (2.5 mile walk) the Shenandoah River, wineries and other local trails are around the area. And let’s not forget about the best burgers in Virginia: Spelunkers. We have two lovely and friendly cats named Lumière and Miss Potts
House is a cabin that has been built on to. A private bedroom and a bathroom are provided to the guests. Kitchen and general living area shared with the owners. However, we do not spend much time in your area so it has the feel of your own house. Also, the entrance is private.
  • A very nice place to discover Shenandoah valley. The house is beautiful and clean. Valentina and Anthony are friendly and accommodating, sure to respect your privacy. I recommend this place in a heartbeat.

The "Cabbin" of Mountain Home is a cozy, comfortable hiker-friendly B&B just 120 yards east of the Appalachian Trail, on Route 522 (Remount Road), Front Royal, VA. 6 beds in shared space. Reserve 1-6 beds here. See '"Cabbin" at Mountain Home B&B' to rent whole cabin. Occupancy and meals taxes are included in the listing price.
The “Cabbin" is a newly renovated historic building that was once a cabin, but is now a small brick building (with the logs still inside the walls). In the spirit of Appalachian Trail (AT) hiking, most people rent individual beds for a night or two. We've hiked the trail and know to provide hiker-friendly details like boot dryers, a shaver, Q-tips, linens, shampoo, soap, ride into town, breakfast, etc. Walk-ins are welcome, but it's always best to call or e-mail ahead so that we can coordinate. With a paid deposit, you can rent the whole "Cabbin" – look for this as a separate listing on AirBnB. The 2nd floor has 4 twin beds and a small, full bathroom. Downstairs is a small kitchen and dining area and a space with 2 futon beds and a small library. The space is air conditioned (or heated, depending upon the season). For before and after pictures of the (historically named) "Cabbin" (and before and "in progress" pictures of the main house) look for us at: Mountain Home in Front Royal. We also operate a full B&B from the main house.
We love being close to the Appalachian Trail and an easy walk in either direction. We are just a 4-mile hike to Shenandoah National Park and canoeing, kayaking and rafting are available on the Shenandoah River that goes right through Front Royal. We have rehabilitated the 1847 historic Greek Revival Style farmhouse on the property into a full B&B. There are 5 other buildings on the property including a chicken coop and sheep shed which we are also going to repair and restore. We are happy to provide tours. The property is on the National and Virginia historic registers as "Mountain Home".
  • An amazing space and environment!! I loved everything about my stay, especially the breakfast!

    Brigit2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Scott are great hosts. Communication is excellent and makes the whole check-in process and stay extremely easy. I’ve stayed in both the “Cabbin”, and the Main House. Extremely clean, comfortable, and relaxing place to stay. My schedule had me leaving extremely early, so I wasn’t able to take advantage of the breakfast menu; however Lisa and Scott had prepared me a to go-bag with food, snacks, and a drink. You couldn’t ask for better hospitality.

    David2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • I had made this reservation same day and was extremely thrilled that Lisa and Scott accommodated me last minute! The cabin exceeded all my expectations and it was a pleasure to stay at such a fantastic and historic property! The breakfast and tour of the mansion was an added bonus! The owners truly care about their guests! I will definitely stay at this property again! Thankyou Lisa and Scott!

    Christopher2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Scott were incredible hosts! Something kept drawing me to stay at the Cabbin when I was feeling very indecisive about my selection, and I'm so glad I listened to my instincts! The stay was perfect, even more than I expected. Lisa and Scott were incredibly kind and thoughtful, providing great tips and recommendations for the area and hiking. I wasn't sure what to expect based on the pics of the cabin so I was so pleasantly surprised by the kitchen and bathroom in the Cabbin. Breakfast at the main house (an incredible historic beauty) was also such a nice surprise! Just the right balance between rustic/remote and great creature comforts. It could easily be renamed the Cozy Cabbin because it was so warm and inviting. I didn't want to leave. I'll be back again for sure ... and now it will be like visiting friends!

    Andrea2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Scott were so lovely! The cabbin was a perfect little respite from sleeping in my car on road trip. They both took time in the morning to share lots of hiking advice and trail maps. Delicious breakfast! Interesting historical home.

    Kathryn2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay at a solid price. Needed to find a place last minute as I was entered into a pool tournament in Front Royal. Wound up getting a great night sleep, well rested and allowed me to win. Will be back next month

Stay minutes from the AT for hiking, or a short ride to many local wineries
Come visit wine country and stay with us at Wine Country Mountain Lodge. The trail head for the Appalachian Trail is only 2/10hs of mile from the property. And you are only a short drive from several of the local wineries. Chester Gap Cellars is 2.1 miles away, Rappahannock Cellars is 4 miles away, Desert Rose Ranch and Winery is 5.8 miles away, Linden Vineyards is 9.1 miles away. Those are just a few to name, there are many others around this area in Front Royal down to Sperryville.

  • Cozy house with great hot tub. Quiet, but close to Front Royal for everyday needs.

    Mick2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Communication was great. The house is dated and the pictures are accurate. The back deck is gorgeous. Would be great in the summer.

    Timothy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend this place. The hot tub and fireplace were very nice and relaxing. Great location if you want to be near the Appalachian trail. Excellent host. Easy check in & check out.

    Benjamin2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice house with great outdoor deck. The hot tub was very nice, as was the wood indoor fireplace. Just a short walk to the Appalachian Trail.

    Dave2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • The house is nice and as described/shown in the photos. The hot tub was clean and worked great! There is a nice hiking trail that connects to the AT and Skyline Drive just up the road, with a nice overlook as well. The house had ample space and the oodstove worked well as did internet, tv etc. Many of the basics on-site, including laundry, charcoal for grill etc. Location is close enough to town to easily get groceries etc., but the dead-end street is quiet. There are a few houses close-by, but we didn't hear/see any neighbors. Would stay again.

    Chris2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect stay for hiking the AT. The hot tub and fire pit added a nice layer to hiking right behind the house.

    Connor2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • House was exactly how it was described / shown in photos. Very clean. Hot tub worked great, was immediately hot and was super fun to use !! Thank you !!!!!

    Maria2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • It was a nice house in a good location. The furniture is a little dated but that also gives it a cozy feel. It would be good for a family, but the stairs are steep so that’s something to consider if you have really little ones. Otherwise, I would definitely go back with my family.

Nestled next to Shenandoah National Park and less than a mile from the Appalachian Trail, The Nest offers a true escape... breathtaking views along with an architecturally charming retreat. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
With original parts that date back to the 1900's, The Nest provides rustic charm with modern amenities. The views are maximized in all of the living spaces, seeking to bring the outside in. As a an added bonus, we are excited to offer our guests access to a local personal chef who will come to the home during your stay and prepare a lovely, locally curated dinner for two. Dates are subject to availability. Just me know if you're interested, and I'll send you Holistic Home Cookin's information and Chef Aubree's menus.
While The Nest feels very secluded, you'll actually be in a neighborhood. The Nest is located on Quann Ln, which is a private, gravel road. Please, respect our neighbors and drive slow.
  • This place is the perfect getaway spot: very quiet, private, stunning views as far as you can see, minutes from Shenandoah National Park entrance, very clean, modern yet rustic decor... our- stay- was- perfect! After hiking all day in the park, we enjoyed a nice outdoor dinner and some great wine on the back deck to unwind. We loved relaxing in the hot tub under an amazing starry night sky even more. The amenities were fantastic and we loved the master suite and bathroom especially. We even made the light-hearted comment that this place was like a “romantic version of an escape room” lol. There were so many small touches like different candles, all the fire pit necessities, champagne, etc. etc. etc... it was so well organized it’s impossible to list all the great things, bravo! If you’re looking for a unique getaway spot and love the outdoors, this place is worth every penny, trust us. J&C

  • This house is PERFECTION !! We went on a couples getaway from the weekend and we spent most of the time in the house, enjoying the views, the sunsets, the hot tub + we even got some really cool photos done with a photographer inside the house !! You will not be disappointed with this place !! It’s the best !!

  • Great views, convenient to many areas of interest. Peaceful place to relax and get away. The home was clean, well stocked and a few nice surprises from the host.

    Ralph2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin and amazing view from every room. It was easy to cook in the kitchen and we enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. Only downside was the indoor gas fireplace was not working while we were there, but we understood it was being fixed. Overall we had a wonderful time!

    Emily2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • The Nest is the most beautiful and tranquil place I have ever stayed. My husband and I got to celebrate our honeymoon here and have never been so pleased with a vacation spot or Airbnb before. The amenities were AMAZING- the hot tub, giant bath tub, king sized beds, and the VIEW! Waking up to the sunrise creeping over the mountains and flooding the master bedroom with a lovely pink sunlight was breathtaking. Julie was incredibly attentive and responded so quickly with the questions I had throughout the stay. Worth the splurge for sure!

    Brenna2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a long weekend at The Nest. It was more beautiful than we expected and the view is breathtaking! The house is beautifully decorated and cozy. We enjoyed our stay and will most definitely be back!

Cosy Rose Room at Vineyard Vista Country Getaway will allow a dog if guests will agree to keep them on lease and not leave them in the room when they are out. Dogs are welcome, but please do not ask to bring your dog if it is not house broken and you are not willing to wipe their feet every time they come inside. (Due to birds roaming freely the porches and yard.)
The charm of Vineyard Vista Country Getaway is the rural setting. On spring, summer and fall mornings it is relaxing to sit on the kitchen deck and watch peacocks strut, or if early enough watch the sun rise over the mountain while enjoying a cup coffee or special tea.
  • This is a perfect place to end a night of excitement and wonder in the city. The women that gives you the key is war hearted and makes you feel like you’re at home. Very clean and quiet location worth every penny of the very affordable price.

    Henry2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Went for a quick get away from the city and it was everything we hope for and more! We felt right at home the moment we arrived. Petsy's daughter, Susan, was helping host and she was so warm and shared some amazing stories about the area, and the history. The home is so cozy but also has some fun gadgets! We visited the winery next door and had such a lovely time. This is the perfect country get away. If you get a chance don't miss an opportunity tl stay here!

    Chelsey2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place to stay near the beautiful Shenandoah National Park. Petsy was a fantastic host and her home was very comfortable and welcoming. She was very kind and responsive, and the house was very clean. Petsy and her daughter helped us with food recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Would definitely recommend!

    Clara2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Petsy is so very sweet and hospitable. The house is beautiful with all kinds of antiques. It is on a gorgeous piece of property. Be sure to have your directions and instructions into the house before you get there.....there is no phone service about 1 mile out from the property. So you wont be able to call for directions. But it is so well worth the drive!!

    Brooke And Judy2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Petsy’s place its amazing. Much better than we expected. It was super cozy und sparkling clean. Petsy is a thoughtful host.

    Jan Philip2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed very much to stay at Petsy’s house: it is close to the park (30 min), super cosy and very comfortable. We cooked our breakfast and dinner as there is everything you need. Very recommended!

    Chiara2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Petsy is a wonderfull host, and the room is excellent: it's cosy and comfortable. Petsy even made coffee and bagels available for us in the morning. We recomend this lovely place.

    Rasmus Fink2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Although we just spent one night at Petsy’s house, we really enjoyed it. It’s a cosy house outside of the town and it’s really clean and quite. Petsy is a very friendly lady and we are glad to met her. From her place it’s close to the shenandoah national park. We would definitely stay at her place again!

  • Glenda and Bill's place is a delight. Somewhat secluded but close to shopping and downtown Front Royal. The house is bright and roomy with a beautifully appointed kitchen which I enjoyed cooking in. Our hosts were very responsive. I can recommend Glenda and Bill's place without hesitation.

  • Skye's place was fantastic! It's nicely decorated and full of thoughtful touches that made my stay cozy, easy, and very welcoming. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    James2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Skye's place over New Year's eve! The home is spacious, cozy, and thoughtfully decorated. We took advantage of the outdoor fire pit as well, which really added to the atmosphere of the holidays. Skye was also a prompt communicator.

    Jim2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Skye’s place is amazing. Nice touches. We had everything we needed and more. Loved the vinyl records. We listed to great music each night. The location is perfect. I’m sorry we didn’t have time to use fire pit as the weather was perfect.

    Liz J.2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • I was definitely recommend Skye’s place! It was a perfect location for where we wanted to go in the area. Although it is a basement apartment, it felt like your own personal space. It was super clean, with so many special finishing touches that really made it feel comfortable and homey. There were many amenities and they left us a cute gift of wine and chocolate. There was a lot of information about the area that they left us as well. It’s a really good location if you want to go to skyline Drive, check out wineries in the area, or go hiking close by! We will be back! :)

    Sarah2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Skye’s home! This place really felt like home! Very spacious and clean. There is everything for your convenience and comfort: beautiful dining area, equipped kitchen, Apple TV, nice area for sitting outside, games to play in the evening. Location is great! Very close to the entrance to Shenandoah national park. Checkin was very easy (with a code). There is parking for two cars. Upon arrival, we found a very nice welcome gift (water, wine and chocolate). There was everything needed for a baby at the house (crib, wipes, dishes, shampoo etc.).

  • Skye's place was perfect for a getaway from D.C. It is close to the northern entrance to Shendandoah, which is why we chose this spot. Skye left many wonderful touches to make us feel welcome. The fire pit was also wonderful and Skye had everything we would need for that. My favorite part of this place was the recommendations that Skye sent ahead of time. The local tips were so handy when choosing where to eat and what to do. I would highly recommend this spot.

  • Skyes place is adorable! The location is perfect for all the sightseeing you would need to do. The place has gone above and beyond for anything you might need. I forgot face wash and of course it was there for me to use. It is very clean and decorated to make you feel right at home. There is a working record player we even used. There was a special welcome gift waiting for us and some treats provided. Great spot to start for a trip to Shenandoah National Park :)

  • Great location with an amazing view and thoughtful touches throughout the house (ground coffee, wood for the fire pit, every kitchen utensil you could want) on topic of a tastefully decorated place. Access and instructions were seamless and allowed us to focus on a good time, a beautiful sky and the amazing wine tasting down the road.

  • Idle Hour certainly lived up to its expectations! If you are looking to set back and unwind from the hustle and bustle of the city, then you have found your place. The house was just right for a weekend away and showcases a sizable kitchen to cook with friends and enjoy the vineyard, Chester Gap. Clean, comfortable and great location sums up our fun weekend at Idle House.

  • Lovely place in a picturesque location--perfect for a weekend getaway!

    Juan2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Idle Hour at Chester Gap was an idyllic place for family to share Christmas with our son’s family visiting from Canada! First and foremost, the house was sparkling clean, had a modern decor, and was filled with amenities that were much appreciated. The view Mother Nature provided was the icing on the cake! We took advantage of the proximity to Skyline National Park and Skyline Caverns. There are multiple wineries close by including Chester Gap Cellars just steps away that likely has the best views of any vineyards in the area. Church, restaurants and grocery stores were all easy to get to making Idle Hour a an Airbnb home we look forward to renting again!

  • With special thanks to Travis, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend trip. Checking in was very easy. The home was sparkling clean, warm, cozy and came extremely well-equipped. We especially enjoyed the backyard firepit! Travis was always responsive and helpful in providing tips for exploring the area. We will definitely be coming back in the future!

    Khanh2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying and we will definitely be back again. The house was just as clean as before, but we explored a bit more this time around. Chester Gap Cellars is a 3 minute walk down the hill and we also took a short 15 minute drive to the Copper Fox distillery. It is close enough to Front Royal proper that getting anything you need is really easy, but the gorgeous views from the house make you sometimes forget you’re that close to town! Can’t wait to come back!

    Daniel2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I enjoyed our stay here. The house was clean, had great views, and the kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, pans, and utensils. Very close to Shenandoah.

  • Stayed here with our toddler and joined by two other families with toddlers. The house was spacious, clean, and with lots of amenities to keep us comfortable. We planned on mostly staying indoors and taking short hikes and the place was perfect for that. Lots of at home cooking in great kitchen and cozying up with a book while the kids napped. A very relaxing stay.

    Debbie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We booked this cabin for a group of ten, and it was absolutely perfect. Well appointed, clean, sufficient privacy for each of the five couples, and thoughtful touches like a complimentary bottle of wine. The beds were very comfortable too. Highly recommended!

  • Kae's cabin was exactly what we needed. The kitchen had everything necessary to cook for ten people, everyone had a place a sleep, the space was large, the grounds were beautiful, and Kae had incredible response times. She allowed us to check in early because we were worried about the roads getting icy and answered my messages quickly. I have nothing but good things to say about the home and the host.

    Mackenzie2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy and clean cabin that comfortably accommodated our group of 10 people. We loved the outdoor space and beautiful views. Kae was a very responsive host. We had a great stay!

  • Our Family get together at Thanksgiving was great! We walked into a clean, spacious kitchen/ dining area which was perfect for our 7 person gathering with 2 dogs! We are also a cooking family and we appreciated the well stocked utensils and spacious storage and counters. The house is also close to local parks which allowed us quick access for a place to exercise the dogs! Would definitely recommend for a quiet relaxed getaway!

  • Very comfortable and relaxing, Petsy is the sweetest

    Rick2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Petsy's home is a quaint and homey place that is a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of a big northeastern city. Can be a touch difficult to find at night, but nothing you can't find with Google maps these days.

    Rodney2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a lovely weekend at this Airbnb! It was very clean and the location was absolutely gorgeous. It's perfect for a trip to Shenandoah because it's right at the entrance to Skyline Drive. Petsy had bagels and coffee for us for breakfast and she also has two adorable cats! We were very happy with our decision to stay here.

    Kate2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Petsy's place is wonderful! It is 10 minutes from the Front Royal Shenandoah Park entrance. She is a wonderful host. I felt like I was staying at a family member's house. We stayed in the coral room. It was beautifully decorated - like a fancy bed and breakfast! It was on the second floor and private. The first night shared the bathroom with another guest, but never saw him/her. It was lovely that Ms. Petsy joined us during breakfast and shared stories with us. Be sure to watch out the peacock poop! (They are beautiful!) The place is lovely, clean and a great location. Just be sure to be comfortable sharing the bathroom and possibly common space with others if other guests are there. It was perfect for us!

  • It's a lovely house a short drive to the Front Royal entrance of Shenandoah National Park. The property is right next to the park and you can spot the Skyline Drive from her back patio. Petsy is friendly and welcoming. She left a packet of very detailed information in our room about the house and area.

  • Lisa & Scott were wonderful hosts! Upon noticing we had a group of 4, Lisa opted to move an extra trundle into our large room -- a thoughtful touch representative of her wonderful hospitality, and that of her husband Scott. We so enjoyed learning more about the special place Mountain Home holds in the history of the region and loved reading Annie Gardner's diary. Lisa's recommendations for dinner in the area were great; we opted to head to Royal Spice for Indian food in Front Royal, which was great. Breakfast the next morning was delicious too, topped off by Scott's homemade grape juice! Scott, an AT thru-hiker, gave great advice for an appropriate hike in the area, which we followed in hiking Compton Gap. A beautiful stay in the "beautiful and much beloved Mountain Home." We hope to return soon!

  • One couple. November 2018. Annie's Room. Sparking clean. Roomy. Comfortable beds. Big bathrooms with plenty of hot water. The house has an airy feel, it's full of light and beautifully uncluttered unlike most historic B&B's. The fresh breakfast was always delicious. Lisa and Scott are interesting and easy to talk with and we looked forward to seeing them at breakfast and when we arrived back. They were available if we needed them, but they didn't hover. The location is central and easy to reach, especially if the AT is your destination. Fine ($$$$$) dining is 20 minutes down the road in Flint Hill. Front Royal, 10 minutes away, has some delicious choices, Thai and American fusion. Of course we'll return!

  • Lisa and Scott recently opened the main building of Mountain Home to Airbnb guests, and it was a truly exceptional experience. Our room was clean and cozy, with a private bathroom. We enjoyed our time around the fire pit with other guests and had a delicious breakfast ready for us in the morning. What really set this location apart for me was learning about the restoration of this registered historical property - Scott was full of knowledge about the building's history and shared with us the details of the work he put in to restore it to historic building standards. We even got to read the Civil War-era diary entries of the young woman whose bedroom we stayed in. We will be returning!

  • Our family had a wonderful time staying in the gardeners room that has been newly renovated! It was so fun staying in a piece of history. We were super close to some amazing trails as well. The breakfast was delicious and we couldn’t of had a better experience!

The valley there is one of the most beautiful places on the east coast. We enjoyed a campfire under the moon and stars with horses grazing quietly nearby. The one bedroom is a kings chamber!! This place is worth coming back again for sure.

A very romantic room with a four-poster queen bed, marble top table, armoire and silk drapes. The painting is by famed Puerto Rican artist Pedro Sanchez, and is the only nude known to have been painted by him. In 2000 the artist asked to buy the painting back. His paintings are in the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, where he is famous for his portraits; painting his subjects with incredibly intricate and interesting textiles. The view from this room in Virginia’s wine country is across the expansive front lawn, a thousand acres of neighboring farms, and up to the mountains of Shenandoah National Park.
Over the years, our Shenandoah Valley bed and breakfast, Glen Gordon Manor has hosted British royalty and set the scene for many memorable hunts, balls and Virginia weddings. Our captivating retreat is conveniently situated below Sky Line Drive, overlooking the stunning Shenandoah National Park. From our 45 acres of pastures, lawns, and gardens, you can glory in the gorgeous views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and our neighboring farms and vineyards. Tracing our hospitality roots to the 1860’s as a Wells Fargo stagecoach stop, the main house brims with nostalgic settings including a fire-lit entrance hall, baronial oak hunt room, stone wine cellar and a charming country kitchen. Our romantic guest rooms and suites exude a warm radiance with their luxury appointments. Your Virginia wine country getaway is perfected with our daily full gourmet breakfast, sparkling seasonal pool, relaxing spa and the finely crafted cuisine at the Houndstooth restaurant.

  • A great hideaway and just a short distance from DC. We enjoyed the country drive, the manor house, the great grounds and a delightful dinner and breakfast served by gracious staff. Perfect for just a short getaway or a celebration. The mosaic tile in bathroom was quite the surprise! Creative touches throughout.

The Plaid Room is one of three rooms at Vineyard Vista Country Getaway. A balcony and queen-size Select Comfort bed make this room a distinctive space to call your own as you travel or simply get out of the city for a while.
The Plaid Room is on the top floor of a three-level private home where the host also lives. It is across the hall from a bathroom. Space has been made in a small closet for garments that need to be hung.
The country is, for the most part, a quiet place; however, the pea fowls can be noisy. The sky is spectacular in winter and summer on clear nights.
  • Perfect place for a great hiking trip to Shenandoah. Petsy was very welcoming and kind. Thanks again!

  • We had the lovely opportunity to stay with Petsy during a weekend get-away from Richmond to the mountains. Petsy's home was immaculately clean and well-appointed, and we were invited to make full use of her kitchen. Our room was comfortable, and we enjoyed seeing her furry and feathered friends on the grounds!

    Jonathan2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Love Petsy's home! One of the most relaxing places we have ever been to. Come here to get away from it all and enjoy nature.

    Gerson And Karla2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Petsy was such a great host! Our room was sparkly clean and so very comfortable. Petsy had bagels and fruit out for breakfast each morning and she had a list of recommendations in our room. We had such a relaxing time. Thank you!

    Kaylee2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Petsy, your host, is a truly delightful woman with a southern accent to match. Her house, situated in the country with views of the mountains is on part of an old farm. The old farm lane with cattle grates is only a precursor to the delight ahead. Advice: write down the address, because Google gets you to the driveway, but there is no cell phone reception at that point, and you need to know which lane to take. My bedroom was huge yet warm and very comfortable. Petsy’s place is 5 minutes from Skyline Drive and Front Royal which has great restaurant and brewery options. I was there to cycle Skyline and it worked very well.

    Michael2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Petsy is a wonderful host, she was so kind, caring and interested! The room and the bathroom were both sparkling clean and comfortable. We had a short bit memorable stay, definitely recommended!

  • Would highly recommend this Airbnb to anyone traveling in the north Virginia area. Over 20 Airbnb’s rented in my time but this one is at the top. Quiet and peaceful setting with all the privacy and amenities you could want. Immaculate and spacious home with full bathroom and master bedrooms. Tons of outdoor activities to do in the area or lots of walking as an option. Whichever suits you.

The "Cabbin" at historic Mountain Home is a hiker-friendly B&B just 120 yards east of the Appalachian Trail, on Route 522 (Remount Road), Front Royal, VA. We have 6 beds, a bathroom and a small kitchen and dining area in cozy, comfortable space. Reserve 1-6 beds here. See "Cabbin" at Mountain Home B&B to rent the whole cabin.
Starting in about 2018, we will operate a full B&B from the main house, as well.
We love being close to the Appalachian Trail and an easy walk in either direction. We are a 4 mile hike or a 5 mile drive from Shenandoah National Park. Canoeing, kayaking and rafting are available on the Shenandoah River that goes right through Front Royal.
  • A comfortable place near the Appalachian trail. Their painstaking efforts to get farm house back to shape shows in the details. The breakfast was yummy as well.

    Simran2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely experience. The hosts are kind and hospitable and really go out of the way to ensure a good stay. And the breakfast was delish! If you’re looking for a great value (or accommodations that allow dogs) the dorm style accommodations in the cabin are great. For something more upscale the main house is beautiful. Highly recommend.

    Elaine2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cabbin was a cozy and unique place to stay, and Scott and Lisa were very accommodating, as I didn’t even contact them until 8:30 pm about a bed. Scott greeted me and showed me around and in the morning had French toast, coffee, fruit and juice ready. The three of us had a nice chat before I had to hit the road; I would love to come back and stay in the Big House and explore the town.

  • This place is a must stay...once they complete the main B and B...it will be THE best in the country perhaps in terms of history, and service from a passionate couple that are living their dream retirement and sharing their love and hospitality with travelers!

  • This was the best Airbnb experience we've ever had. Reasonable price, excellent communication, and Lisa and Scott really went above and beyond the call of duty. They prepared the space to be more baby friendly AND dog friendly. The location is perfect for getting on the AT or taking a drive on Skyline drive. But Mountain Home is a destination in itself. The 'cabbin' is rustic and quaint and the main house is meticulously restored. Definitely read Annie's Civil War diary in the 'cabbin' and hear about all of the historic happenings at Mountain Home from Lisa and Scott. We had a wonderful time.

  • Nice little place. Ideal for hikers...our family of six slept comfortably and enjoyed the hearty breakfast as well.

    Brian2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great. It's clearly meant for AT hikers (charming!) but I had a great time here with a group of friends in the area for overnight hiking. Easy check in and out, warm and friendly hosts, and a really cute space with a great value for a group. I'd recommend! (Plus, it's just steps from the AT, and very close to other good hiking).

    Stef2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa & Scott were incredible hosts during our impromptu stay at their lovely establishment. Some friends and myself were traveling in the area and required unplanned travel arrangements at the last minute. We happened to find Lisa's posting on Airbnb and booked, however I was worried our reservation for the same day was too short notice. I was impressed that within the hour our same day reservation was confirmed. Upon arrival that evening we were greeted by Lisa who was incredibly helpful. We were planning on going to a chain restaurant for dinner a town over, however Lisa's recommendation of the Front Royal Brewery did not disappoint. There was live bluegrass music which was a cultural delight. Upon our return, our room was very clean and our stay was peaceful. In the morning Lisa made us breakfast [which was phenomenal!], topped with Scott's delectable homemade raspberry preserves. If you have the opportunity to stay at this gorgeous historically registered establishment, please do not hesitate to book now with these top tier superhosts!

  • This little cabin did not disappoint. We were so impressed with the owners and the property. Breakfast was amazing. The beds were comfy after a long day at the Homesteader Conference. We even got to stroll a bit of the AT while we were there.

  • Fun place for anything from a group of friends or office getaway and they're even set up for weddings! Loved their game room with pinballs, pool table, shuffleboard, and so much more. You can’t go wrong staying here. By far the best rental I have ever stayed at out here in wine country.

Occupancy and meals taxes are included in the listing price.
The “Cabbin" is a renovated historic building that was once a cabin, but is now a small brick building (with the logs still inside the walls). In the spirit of Appalachian Trail (AT) hiking, most people rent individual beds for a night or two. We've hiked the trail and know to provide hiker-friendly details like boot dryers, a shaver, Q-tips, linens, laundry, shampoo, soap, hair dryer, ride into town, breakfast, etc. Starting in about 2018, we will operate a full B&B from the main house, as well.
I love being close to the Appalachian Trail and an easy walk in either direction. We are rehabilitating the 1847 historic Greek Revival Style farmhouse on the property into a full B&B. There are 5 other buildings on the property including a chicken coop and sheep shed which we are also going to repair and restore. We are happy to provide tours. The property is on the National and Virginia historic registers as "Mountain Home".
  • Lisa and Scott were amazing hosts! We were never left guessing where to go or what to do upon arrival. Any time we had a question they responded within just a few minutes.

  • Lisa and Scott were lovely hosts! They were kind, helpful, and patient, even when I accidentally slept through my alarm and missed my breakfast time slot.

    Carl2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is absolutely perfect! It was very clean, had everything that I needed and was in a great location. Lisa and Scott have added a lot of extra touches that make it a really cozy and welcoming place to stay. Breakfast was delicious and it was great to get to sit down with Scott and learn more about the history of the home and how much work has been put into it. I would 100% recommend staying here!

  • Lisa and Scott have curated this wonderful space for travelers and hikers to enjoy a clean and comfortable resting place. This is a very special home, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

  • I really enjoyed my visit to Scott & Lisa's Cabbin. zjust a quick overnight stop, but Scott made you welcome as if he'd known you a long time! Very accommodating to all guests, custom made breakfast was a yummy treat to get one's day off to a great start! Meeting new people was a nice part of the trip - trail hikers and the adventures were fun to learn about life on AT. Definately recommend Scott & Lisa's place!

    Rita & Steve2018-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend Lisa and Scott's Cabbin as a perfect place to stay while exploring the surrounding area! The Cabbin was super clean, had a bunch of thoughtful amenities, and Lisa cooked us an amazing breakfast. The property is in a great area-- 5 minutes into Front Royal downtown, and 5 minutes to the trailhead that Lisa and Scott recommended! Lisa and Scott- the Chester Gap to Compton Peak trail was EXACTLY what we wanted. Thank you so much for a lovely stay, and I'm already recruiting friends to come back with me!

  • If I am visiting Shenandoah again, I'm definitely going to their place!

  • Thoughtful touches everywhere, very hospitable from the moment we walked in. House was preserved and themed to a tee of a plantation bed and breakfast.

  • We learned a lot about "slackpacking" and local hikes by staying with Lisa and Scott. We especially appreciated the breakfast, too: vegan + gluten-free pancakes, yogurt, free, teas, and juice. Thank you!

    Beth2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Everything is clean and well kept, and Lisa and Scott are excellent hosts. They communicate promptly and it is easy to reach them. The amenities left nothing to be desired.

  • such an amazing experience. beyond satisfied. I had broken down on the interstate and was stuck in the town if Front Royal. They accommodated for my last minute inquiry and picked me up to take me to the Airbnb. the space is beautiful. A little cabin that's super homey and filled with treasures. Its tucked away from the business of life. the cabin comes with hot drinks, snacks, and other goodies. you get served a hot breakfast that is cooked by the host in the house. They even gave you options of what you wanted. the host couple ad super kind, sweet, and hospitable. without a doubt made my bad situation into a good time. can't wait to stay there again when I'm not stranded. please stay here and experience it!

  • Lisa and Scott's Cabbin is the perfect place for hikers or other travelers looking to explore Shenandoah and surroundings! I stayed in Lisa and Scott's Cabbin for one night in December before starting a short backpacking trip in Shenandoah. Given the low price, I was expecting self check-in and only the bare essentials. As such, I was really blown away by Lisa and Scott's helpfulness and hospitality: They greeted me and gave me a tour at check in; they offered me parking during my hike for a very reasonable rate ($3 per day); they included a delicious homemade breakfast with the stay; and Scott gave me a free ride to the trailhead when I was ready to start hiking! All in all, a truly excellent experience! The Cabbin itself is small but lovingly adorned with decorations related to the AT and other local attractions. Scott hiked the AT himself in 2012 and he and Lisa have a wealth of knowledge about hiking and other activities in the area. Since I was visiting in December I had the Cabbin all to myself. I chose one of the double futons downstairs and slept quite comfortably. In the summer I imagine it can get a little cramped. The four twin beds upstairs are all in the same room, the two double futons downstairs only have a partial wall between them and the kitchen, and there is only one bathroom in the Cabbin. As such, if you're coming in the summer and you're expecting privacy and quiet then you may be disappointed. But even if its a full house, I think the low price and the outstanding hospitality make it a great deal! I certainly hope to come back again soon!

  • Lisa and Scott were great hosts - communicative and friendly. The breakfast with homemade jams, s'mores over a fire pit, and local recommendations were wonderful.

    Andrew2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for a brief time in the Shenandoah area. Next time it will be for longer. The Cabbin is a cozy hostel with way more amenities provided than the bare essentials. This place is truly a resource for those hiking the trail or otherwise exploring the Shenandoah Valley. Breakfast was delightful. While I didn’t meet Lisa unfortunately, Scott provided superb hospitality. Cannot recommend this place enough!

    Rhonda2018-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay for those on the App. Trail, Scott has walked te entire trail, and has a book of his journey that serves as inspiration for you to continue on! Very nice couple.

  • This place is a no-frills, comfortable GEM just off the Appalachian trail and I cannot recommend it more highly. Lisa is a wonderful, delightful host -- extremely welcoming and very helpful as I explored the area. This is a true example of a great B&B; breakfast was delicious (and plentiful) and the shared room was perfect for what I needed. Front Royal, the adjacent town, is charming and filled with plenty of places to explore. There aren't enough great words to describe my experience! Definitely stay here if you have the opportunity. You won't regret it.

  • Scott and Lisa are fantastic! My friend and I were spending a weekend backpacking in Shenandoah National Park and wanted a place to stay Friday night. Scott and Lisa’s cabbin was booked, but they were kind enough to make up trundle beds for us to sleep in their b&b basement. We were a little nervous and didn’t know what to expect, but everything was absolutely lovely. Scott and Lisa gave us excellent directions, the bedding was all made up and ready for us, and they served us an absolutely delightful breakfast with a few other lovely hikers. Scott and Lisa helped us find a good 2-day trail and gave a several very helpful tips for our trip. I highly recommend this place. It was a wonderful experience and I hope to stay there again.

    Carly2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • A health issue prevented me from staying on the property, but Lisa and Scott’s communications were superb. I’m certain the place is a welcome stay for any traveler.

  • My friend and I adored staying at cabbin!! It was a delightful night away in Virginia. The cabbin was adorable, well kept, and cozy. Scott was kind and hospitable! I did not expect breakfast, so that was such a yummy surprise. This place is a treasure and I will be back.

    April2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a great historic spot and management was quick to respond to inquiries/requests and even provided a shuttle. The dog stayed too. Sweet spot indeed.

    Shelly2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place simply is a small paradise that is a delight to stay at! The owners are wonderful and made me really feel at home. They can also suggest great hikes in the area and shuttle you there. I also met some very interesting people there; and even though many guests are Appalachian trail hikers, you won't have trouble fitting in if you're (like me) just looking to do some short hikes.

    Dominik2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • This backpacker cabin is a wonderful respite from the tail or the road. The cabin is snug, but clean and homey, allowing for privacy and organic interactions with other travelers. Breakfast in the main house is a cut above, as you get a personalized hot breakfast and wonderful stories from Scott, all in a beautifully restored Appalachian farmhouse. I can not stress the value of this stay enough. Thank you Scott!
