Shepherds hut holiday rentals in Monmouthshire

Carol and George’s Shepherd hut is a little piece of heaven. It is tucked away in a quiet place between fields and mountains with endless views and sunshine. We could hear nothing but the birdsong and cattle. The garden is private and has the most stunning sunset view. We could not have asked for a better break from the bustling city life. Carol and George gave us a warm welcome on arrival which was a sweet personal touch. We would definitely return!!

We had such a lovely time at the shepherds hut, a perfectly peaceful and quiet get away - just what we needed! Great location for picturesque walks. We walked along Offas Dyke took 2.5 hrs straight from the hut. The local town had everything you needed only a short drive or 20 min walk away. We grabbed a takeaway pizza from Daphnes which was very delicious. Despite wet weather all weekend it did not dampen our spirits. The covered kitchen was a perfect location to cosy up and watch the thunder and lightning. It had everything you needed to make breakfast. The provided bread, bacon, eggs & milk were a lovely addition. The bed was very very comfy and the hut was clean, tidy & cosy. The hill up to the hut is steep but the provided wheelbarrow helped. Leaving in the rain was hilarious.

We loved our stay on the shepherds hut, which looked and felt new, and was beautifully finished. Fantastic location, great for local walks (we walked to The Open Ditch pub) and amazing views from the bed & seating area. Very accommodating hosts, super helpful and responsive. We’d definitely consider staying again! Would recommend. Thank you so much!!

My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful shepherd hut! It was so cosy and peaceful and very romantic. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bath was just incredible, so relaxing. The location is excellent for walks in the countryside and also super close to Worcester city, it really is the best of both worlds! We would love to visit again in the near future and couldn’t recommend staying here enough. Thank you Elliot and Tiffany 😊

Lovely place to spend a few days in peace in quiet. The hot tub was amazing and the hosts are very friendly. The hut is in close proximity to the Wye Valley, which is a great place to explore.

I have stayed at Gilwern several times, and as with each previous occasion I found Emma had made a huge effort to ensure the accommodation was very comfortable and well presented. I love the views, the peace and quiet, and always enjoy trying to find a fossil in the quarry. I will hope for another return trip in a year or two.

We have had the most wonderful and relaxing weekend in pippin. Getting to spend time in the orchard, meeting the lovely sheep, and enjoying the peace of the space has been amazing. Thank you Katie and Anna for creating such a magical retreat. Hope to be here again soon!

We needed a restful break and this was perfect! The site was quiet and the Wagon was secluded in the far corner of an orchard. A lovely place for a rustic honeymoon! It was very pretty, and comfortable: warm enough in cool evenings & the bed was luxurious! The kitchen was basic: a non-microwave oven with hobs on top, a sink with a water dispenser, and a kettle. No fridge but a cool box with freezer blocks. We did some washing up in the van but took big loads to the sinks at the campsite with running water. We had brought a fold-up trolley with us to ferry our stuff to and from the car; about 50 metres from van to parking on the campsite, by the loos, showers, washing up & water points. The facilities were basic but fine, although the lighting at night was erratic - take a torch! Louise was friendly and helpful, and told us of a short walk nearby which took us through woodland dripping with moss. Think glamping not bricks & mortar: for that & value for money I rate it 5 stars.

Lovely hut on a very peaceful adult only camp site. Views are lovely. Hut was lovely and had everything you need. Hope to go back.

Our stay at Marks and Mirandas was very special. Mark made sure we had everything we needed. The place is beautiful with so much nature around. Would recommend for a quiet get away to listen to bird song

As my wife and I are caravaners this was a step up. A shepherd would be very happy with the hot shower, slow cook pot, microwave, electric radiator and fridge freezer and so were we. He would be very happy with the bed also but my 77 year old bones would have liked it a little softer. However we enjoyed good night's sleep so can't complain for the very modest cost. Great to be able to walk from the hut to Tintern Abbey and fabulous walks along the river and up over the hills. Would use this again if the occasion came up. thanks Charlotte for a very clean and tidy hut. The milk and tea bags were also very appreciated.

I had a wonderful stay at Herbert’s hut surrounded by the peaceful countryside! I had everything I needed for a long weekend, with all the small details thought of. It was incredibly clean and very private. It was great to switch off and truly immerse myself in the surroundings. Jennifer was very helpful and had plenty of recommendations to visit nearby. I will definitely be booking this again soon!

Such a wonderful stay. Having a private garden with the hot tub was really such a lovely experience, and the log fire was so cute. The self check-in and out was super easy, and we really felt like it was our own getaway home retreat for the night. We’ll see you again soon ☺️

Magical location, accommmodation, surroundings and view. The perfect balance of rustic and comfortable. And a warm host. 10/10.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay. The hot tub was gorgeous and easy to use and we cooked burgers over the fire pit. The kitchen was also very well equipped. The location was fab, very rural with a lovely hike recommended by Danny to a nearby pub. I had a Ford fiesta which stood pretty much no chance of getting up the driveway but Danny gave us a lift up with our stuff and it was only 0.6 miles long so easy enough to walk back down.

Wonderfully peaceful location. Sitting outside by the stream in the evenings with a glass of wine and listening to the birdsong was the perfect way to end some busy days at Hay Festival (which was a pleasant 25 min drive through lovely scenery on very quiet roads). Superb hosts, helpful and responsive. The hut had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable. Would recommend!

Fabulous place that is beyond what you would expect from a Shepherd’s Hut. Great thought and attention to detail has clearly gone into building and designing this place. It’s deceptively spacious and has got everything you need and more, the hot tub and outside seating are real bonuses, all in all a fabulous spot.

My partner and I stayed in this adorable Shepard's hut in Ledbury for two nights. I've never stayed in a tiny house/cabin, but have always wanted to. I can say that I was not disappointed in the slightest 😊 Helens Shepard's hut was exactly as the pictures show, if not even more beautiful in person! The surroundings were stunning, with lots of wildlife (mainly birds, so bird watchers would be right at home!), very quiet and private 😊 The cabin itself was immaculate with everything you would need for cooking and cleaning up, nothing was missing! Plus Helen was a gem allowing us to check in early and check out later, we definitely appreciated that 😊 and more so, she was very friendly. I would absolutely stay here again in a heartbeat if I travel up this way again 👍

A beautiful experience. Very peaceful. Especially loved a little window out on to the green right in front of our bed. In rainy windy weather the hot tub really took a lot of time to heat up. We went through a bucket of wood just to get it to temperature, but it was so worth it and stayed warm for many hours, so future visitors, don’t give up! We only stayed one night but this place was exactly what we needed! peaceful, quiet, Tom helped us to check in early which was super nice. There is no wifi at the hut (as far as I’m aware) but like I said, we only stayed for one night so it was perfectly fine! If we’re ever in the area again, we would happily stay again.

Sally was a great host, welcomed us in and explained everything so we could make the most of the amenities. She recommended great places to go and the shepherd's hut was lovely and cosy. Can't ever go wrong with a hut tub too! Would stay again!

This has to be one of the loveliest Airbnbs we’ve ever stayed in. It was cosy, clean and came with all the essentials that you’d come to expect at an airbnb but don’t always find. There was a fresh sourdough on the table and pint of milk in the fridge. The surroundings are so beautiful. We’d come back to the hut just for some peace and quiet. Tom, our host, was an absolute gentleman. Was on hand when we needed him and was very responsive. You can see the effort that he puts into the huts and surrounding areas. More Airbnb’s could learn a thing or two from Tom. Thanks for having us!

Helen and Brian were extremely helpful but respected our privacy! Accomadation was private, peaceful and exactly as described!
