“My daughter (15) and I had a fantastic stay! It was exactly what we needed at this time and this secluded jewel provided us with the relaxation we were looking for. David graciously welcomed us and offered suggestions on places to eat and visit. He was a great host. We greatly enjoyed the kayaks and sunsets, and my daughter got to practice some of her photography! The place is perfect for two people and was very clean and as shown in the photos. The swim spa and outdoor shower were a plus! I truly enjoyed having coffee out in the patio every morning with my book and the views! We will definitely try to come back to this peaceful spot. Thank you David and Mary Ann for sharing this little piece of heaven with me and my daughter!”
Think of our house as a boutique hotel! You will have the use of the ENTIRE house, plus our 1/2 acre yard and patio! Very private, as we do not live in, next to, or on the premises. The house is very close to wineries, dining, shopping and wedding venues. Easy drive to parks and small sand beaches and on the Virginia Artisan Trail and the Virginia Oyster Trail. Featured in the book, "The Houses of Irvington: Architecture of an American Village." Plus: No additional cleaning fees!
“I can’t say enough great things about our stay here. Laura and David were extremely hospitable and kind, especially in the middle of this COVID chaos we greatly appreciated it. They heated up the house prior to our arrival which was so nice. They are very quick to respond to messages, and went the extra mile in making us feel comfortable here. The Blue House is very charming and unique with decorations that made our stay cozy and homey. Everything is very well stocked from the kitchen to bedding so it was easy to settle in for our 1.5 week stay. The neighborhood is quiet and I would definitely recommend taking walks or jogs in the winding streets around! It’s close to the neighboring small towns if you want to go out and explore. We definitely hope to be back in the future! :)”
An upscale Allergy-Friendly home complete with full kitchen, master bed/bath, WIFI, outdoor shower and fireplace. Mad Calf Cottage is perfect for couples, business travelers, cultural enthusiasts, foodies and adventurers. No pets means no dander or pet smells during your vacation.
“Mad Calf Cottage is perfection! Lara and David are wonderful, thoughtful hosts. We spent the weekend there for my 40th birthday and it was so lovely. The cottage is exactly as pictured. It was stylish yet homey, comfortable, exceptionally clean and well appointed. It is clear that Lara and David took great care in not only decorating but also in the special touches throughout. Knowing it was my birthday, they left a bottle of prosecco on ice (in addition to snacks and chocolates) for us to enjoy upon our arrival which was a delightful surprise. Lara gave me detailed information on the area and advice on restaurants. Taking her up on her suggestion, we ate at Adrift on Friday night. It was so good! But the show stopper was our dinner at the Hope and Glory Inn. Delicious is an insufficient descriptor. It was a meal I will not soon forget! There's nothing like having a cozy place to relax after we went on our adventures in the area and Mad Calf Cottage was exactly what we needed. It couldn't have been better. We hope to be back soon!”
