Holiday rentals in Hacksneck

This was the perfect spot for us - we wanted to be near enough the bay for a beach day but away from the chaos. It's a little off the beaten path, but that's something we wanted. Easy to get to Onancock for the Saturday market and ~40 minutes to the most popular Cape Charles beachfront. Very clean. LeeAnne was very helpful and friendly. Would stay again!

The cottage is amazing! It is located in such a nice/quiet area. Beautiful views of the water and marina. The house has all the amenities you could want, right down to bug spray! It felt like we were right at home. The inside was decorated so cute, and you could tell the owners put a lot of thought into how to make it a great place for visitors. I only wish we had more time to spend there!

First of all, this house and the views are STUNNING. This was the first vacation that I have taken with my fiancé and our 2 pups, and we had the best time--it was such a sad day when we had to leave lol. We basically ordered Doordash and Walmart Pickups the entire time we were there and never left the property during our stay. The kitchen was very well stocked with all the cookware you could need, there are kayaks and paddle boards for entertainment, and plenty of floats for relaxing in the bay. There is a little private beach within 1 min walking distance from the house and there is access to the water from the backyard. It had everything we wanted for a relaxing vacation with our pups. I am already working on convincing my fiancé that we need to go back in the near future. 10/10 would recommend.

We truly enjoyed our trip to Hope Haven Cottage. From the initial booking, everything went smoothly. Mildred & Spencer were wonderful, and assisted us in every aspect of our stay. The cottage had everything we needed and more… since Muddy Toes was closed at the time, Mildred & Spencer made sure we were stocked with all the breakfast things we would need. Coffee, half and half, muffins, eggs, all kinds of extra goodies and a welcome basket full of snacks! We loved the bikes for riding around on the island and down to the beach. The golf cart was made available as well, and we enjoyed using it for bringing some extra gear to the beach. They had it all… a beach umbrella, folding chairs, beach towels, paperback books. It was a beautiful stay. The bed was very comfortable and the whole house was charming. The kitchen was fully equipped. We didn’t lack anything at all. Mildred & Spencer communicated well, were flexible & helpful. I wholly recommend this beautiful haven on Tangier.

Kenneth was an exceptional host for the following reasons -provided great recommendations for food, adventure on & off the property, & everything in between -approachable when we had questions and/or curiosity -clear & prompt communication -such a cozy, welcoming restored smokehouse (smelled like cedar, oak, & pine in there..LOVED it) -very well kept & clean, his & her robes were perfect for the shower & towels, washcloths, & linens were ready & waiting - fully stocked with treats, coffees & teas -gorgeous property w/ amazing dock for casting a few & enjoying unreal sunsets - super peaceful & serene My husband & I had our mini moon here & it was a continuation of our dreamy marriage to each other. Jacqueline’s place was lovely. There were many thoughtful touches such as blueberry muffins upon our arrival and numerous toiletries available for our use. The bed was very comfortable, and the entire place in good order. We visit this area regularly and will happily stay here again!

This was a great place for a vacation. It was extremely peaceful and had all kids of extras such as bikes, kayaks and even crab pots. We spent most every day on the dock crabbing (lost count of how many crabs we caught), out on the water in the kayaks and eating together on the big deck. The house was great for our family of six with plenty of room, comfortable beds and nice big living room to relax in at the end of the day. I would certainly return for another vacation.

There is no better place for a relaxing time away with family (including dogs!). The hosts have taken such care to ensure that every need is taken care of and even added little touches to make the experience extra special. We had originally planned to explore more of the eastern shore, but we could barely get ourselves to leave the awesome property. Nothing prepared me to see such a great sunset on the western horizon from the east coast! What a delight! Most of all, and most importantly for us, the home was truly dog inclusive. We brought our two large dogs with us and the hosts had prepared for it all - covers on furniture, dog bowls at the ready, even dog towels and shampoo! We had an absolute blast at the little beach area and on the dock, but definitely do watch out and follow the host’s instructions to stay safe from the sharp rocks and steep dock stairs. The home is easy to care for with no unreasonable expectations from the host (like in some airbnbs). Check in and relax!
