Family-friendly holiday rentals in French Island

This was such a great place to stay for a laidback get together to celebrate a birthday. We had everything that we needed in the kitchen to cook meals for each day we stayed, enough towels for 5 people for showers and to dry off after the hot tub. The bathrooms were stocked up with travel sized soap and shampoo/conditioner. A very beautiful & clean cabin experience! The trains were not a bother whatsoever even if they were frequent, we enjoyed them and didn’t find them to be a distraction or too loud. We ended up hiking at the Sugar Creek Bluff which we found with the brochures left at the cabin. The overlook was absolutely beautiful! There was plenty of room for a group of 5 and easy check in/check out process. We enjoyed the sunset and sunrise view that the stay provided and the view of the river. While the cabin was nearby to others, we felt very private and secluded. We were not bothered at all during our stay which was preferred. Also, the clue game was so much fun to complete. :)

Amazing place, the pictures don't do it justice! a nice trail on the land to explore. The horses and the hottub were great. Comfortable bed. Definitely will consider coming back.

Everything was lovely. The space was clean and cozy, the fireplace was warm, and the view from the hot tub was incredible.

We loved our getaway at this sweet cabin. it was the most kid friendly air BNB we have ever stayed at: the perfect blend of serenity and flexibility, toys and games and plastic cups, clear expectations about what is available and what is off limits, lovely decorations and not over the top or breakable, space for kiddos and for grownups. not super sound proof but nothing a white noise machine can't solve. and the best part was the opportunity to explore the woods and trails and the creek! for hours of screen free entertainment. highly recommend!

Simply Creekside is simply the best. Super clean, cozy, and private. Located close to great trout fishing and lovely Driftless towns. Jesse is a fabulous host and I will always keep returning to this location. Thank you for such a lovely stay!

The accommodations were just as advertised. Comfortable, clean, and roomy. Also, the beds were very comfortable.

Beautiful scenery and very quiet area. The drive over to the air BNB was incredible, almost felt like you were in another country! Lots to explore in the area, plenty of opportunities to take photos. The booking was simple, tidy and easily accessible. Friendly hosts with a good knowledge of the area. The freshwater spring was a huge perk to have access to clean pure drinking water!

Fern Hollow was the sanctuary we needed and Liz and Daniel were such gracious and warm hosts. Couldn’t recommend this stay enough!

My family and I stayed at the Driftless Escape Cabin and had a wonderful time! The interior was even more beautiful in person with plenty of space for my whole family. The Kitchen was well stocked, the beds were very comfy and they had everything you needed. The property was gorgeous with lots of open space and amazing views. We loved playing in the yard and s’mores by the fire. And even though the cabin is close to town, we still felt like we were miles away in nature and truly disconnected!!

We had a great stay in Decorah! The house was perfectly located within walking distance of Decorah’s main downtown street. House was clean and easy to access.

We booked this spot for its proximity to Muscoda downtown and river areas. Mushroom Festival was going on in downtown. Two other guests stayed too and the host was super friendly, accomdating, and easy to work with. We had a blast, hit the parade and headed back for an evening of food , drinks and card/board games...only regret...not having a fire at the outdoor firepit....too busy having fun. Well, next time! Winery is walking distance and we didn't have time for thst either. Stay here... you'll smile and feel your blood pressure drop.

I was looking, last minute, for a place to get away from the stresses of life and my job, and this place had it all. A quiet setting, beautiful views, wildlife to check out, and a short drive to cities that could be explored. A trip to Prairie du Chien one day, and another day to Lansing. The house was clean, had the amenities I needed, and Bryce was very responsive. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

We knew our daughter (4 years old) had off school a couple days around Easter, so we figured we would do a mini family getaway together to make some happy memories. She loves trains and treehouses, so we asked her to choose which one she'd enjoy most. She happily chose the train caboose, and it was a great choice that we all appreciated! The area scenery is beautiful, Decorah has many great shops downtown, tasty restaurants that we enjoyed, and gorgeous scenery all over that we loved seeing as a family. We feel blessed to have found this fun location, and loved its charming look. The horses on the property were a delightful bonus too, as we are a family of animal-lovers.

Our group had a wonderful time. The barn loft accommodations were cozy & everything was well thought out for guests staying. We had wonderful weather & spend the entire day at the swimming pond. It was great for our girls trip & I can say my kids would have loved it as well.

Staying at Trillium was magical! The Driftless Area is gorgeous and Grandma’s Cottage was the perfect place to relax into such a beautiful part of Wisconsin. We enjoyed meeting the owners and loved being able to roam around the property with Hanna and Honey, the resident tour guides. Other highlights were the amazing sheep and the baked goods that were delivered every morning. We considered staying forever!

Adam’s place was the perfect getaway for our Anniversary weekend. The space was clean and comfy. We walked around the corner for coffee, and down a couple of block a to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday. We also enjoyed some amazing cocktails at The Lafayette down the street, which he also owns. There were a few boutiques my wife enjoyed as well. We highly recommend and will be renting again if we are back in Winona!

What a joy to get to stay at this beautiful property!! We enjoyed hiking, fishing, sitting around the fire pit, and watching a movie in the living room. The amazing home is lovely- very comfortable and well-stocked with bedding, towels, and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and grilling - even basic seasonings. We went to Decorah and Waukon for shopping and to look around, but wanted to soak in as much time as we could on the property near the streams. We saw a bald eagle fly low several times! Also deer, an otter, lots of birds, including a hummingbird, frogs, mayflies, and a painted turtle. The guys caught brown trout, rainbow trout, and even a white sucker fish. We all had a wonderful time and felt sad to leave. We hope to return in the near future. Grateful for this lovely getaway.

This home is in an excellent area for easy access to many areas. Beautiful nearby park and of course the University. Comfortable for 2 couples with everything needed to cook meals. Barb responded quickly to any questions, and very easy to work with.
