Cottage holiday rentals in Fredericksburg

The sign about a gate and dead end as you turn on to Cross Mountain Road from Grace Church Lane through us off but we figured it out rather quickly. May be a rough entrance on a dark stormy night or during snow - watch the bridge and the stream below. Having said this, the stream was a huge plus. The gentle flowing water that comes down the mountains from Shenandoah National Park was beautiful and peaceful! There is an alternate route if the bridge is inaccessible. Reach out to Jerry. I recommend arriving before dark. Watch for deer and other wildlife on the local roads. I saw a huge wild turkey in the woods next to the house! The property is very private but not remote - just right for us. We loved the hot tub and fireplace. The Virginia Spiderwort blossoms each morning were delightful and fascinating. There is so much nature surrounding the property. The indoors are beautifully decorated and clean. Very modern but appropriate for the Shenandoah Valley. We’d definitely come again!!

This lake house was such a relaxing place to stay! Had everything we needed and then some. It’s a bit of a hill to climb to get back to the house from the lake but not terrible. The beach recommendations were great! We found a ton of shark teeth and the kids really enjoyed themselves.

My husband and I had a great stay here with our dog. The house was beautiful and very clean and our dog loved the fenced in yard. Dolly had so many recommendations for local restaurants, breweries/wineries, and things to do. You can definitely hear the train going by but it really didn’t bother us at all it’s not loud enough to distract from a conversation or wake you up. Overall we loved staying here and would gladly stay here again if back in the area!

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The location was right in the middle of the wineries we wanted to visit. The property was quiet with a nice outside area and the cottage was cozy and well appointed. We would definitely come back again

Karma is real, so I must share this true GEM with the world. This was a bday getaway for my wife and I with our pup. I WIN BEST Husband of the Year because of Frank's Pond Cottage. I gave her the gift of her very own waterfall.. Beautiful luxury in hidden away by the Shenandoah. We were able to UberEats while also having an Uber take us to Element. Great food. Frank and team recommended horseback riding, did that too, MUST DO SO! We will be back and already have plans for next trip. Run DON'T WALK to spend time at this wonderful retreat.

What a fantastic getaway. A very private and peaceful location with panoramic mountain views from the front or rear of the house. The back deck was an ideal location for morning coffee. The screened porch was equally as perfect for cocktails and finishing the day,especially after a relaxing dip in the hottub. This place was very well equipped and had everything we could have needed. The proximity to grocery stores and local restaurants seemed perfect. Close enough to be convenient, but far enough to be one of the most peaceful stays we've had. No noise from traffic or any of life's distractions was noticed and much appreciated. A truly well appointed, peaceful mountain retreat.

Tracy was a fantastic host who made us right at home. We loved being back in the woods and had a relaxing stay. Definitely appreciated a host who had some really delicious restaurant recommendations. We hope to be back soon.

This cottage is AMAZING!!! Absolutely beautiful and looks like it was professionally decorated, something you would see in a magazine. The outside is breathtaking and the river access is icing on the cake. Keith was an amazing host. He went above and beyond to accommodate us and we had a wonderful time staying there. We definitely want to go back soon!

My family and I greatly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was perfect for our family. The location was great. The cottage smelled clean upon entering and we were thrilled by the cleanliness of the entire cottage. We appreciated all the amenities provided. As we were returning to the cottage one day, Eddie stopped by to ask if everything was ok and to let him know if we needed anything. We also enjoyed getting to know the neighbors nearby as we sat on the beautiful porch with beautiful flowers and landscaping. We definitely would love to return in the near future!

Loved staying at this quiet retreat! Mornings listening to birds, afternoons in the sunny backyard, stars and stars! Really loved this place and will be back again.

You would be hard pressed to find a better place to stay. The house was very comfortable and relaxing. When we’re back in the area this will be our go to place.

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay! The house was very clean, nicely decorated, and well stocked with plenty of cookware, games, books, and extra linens and blankets. The area was so beautiful, with rolling hills, mountain views, farm scenery, fragrant fresh air, and spectacular star views at night. My city dog absolutely loved getting to run and play in the well maintained large fenced in yard! Billy and Margit provided dog treats, yard toys, extra leash, water/food bowls, dog towels, pet proof trash lids, and sofa cover indicating that dogs are allowed on the sofa. My dog was so welcomed! Billy and Margit provided whole bean coffee that they freshly roasted, and a bean grinder. The coffee was amazing! Really enjoyed drinking the coffee in the mornings while listening to the chorus of birds chirping. Hiked at Whiteoak Canyon Falls, less than 20 minutes from Amy's place. The early check in and late check out times were another generous touch that was enjoyed. Would love to stay again!

Absolutely wonderful stay! Josh and Judy were excellent hosts—friendly, responsive, and made everything so easy from check-in to check-out. The cottage itself was the perfect amount of space for our visit and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay in the DC area. The location couldn’t be better! The neighborhood is incredibly safe, and we loved being able to walk to so many phenomenal restaurants nearby. Having access to the garage was a huge bonus and made our trip so much more convenient and enjoyable. We love Alexandria and can’t wait to stay at Josh and Judy’s cottage again during our next visit. Highly recommend!

is it possible to post an outstanding review without disclosing this story-book location? Perfect is truly the only way to describe it. Felt like home to the point I worried they would have to evict me. Breathtaking surroundings, incredible accommodations, responsive and friendly hosts. We truly enjoyed relaxing on the porch, visiting with the farm animals, meeting such a beautiful family. Leesburg is so fun, with much to do and explore. Thank you all so much!! Gorgeous leafy green neighborhood, spacious guest house, plenty of closet storage, comfortable bed and furnishings, lots of windows, cute outdoor seating. Highly recommend.

I have stayed here multiple times and it never disappoints. This is conveniently located to everything Needed while visiting colonial Beach. This is a beautiful property that is in pristine condition.

I've been in AirBnBs around the WORLD and few can compare to the simple luxury of Preston's place. An ideal retreat for anyone who knows the "real" Virginia lies far outside of the Beltway, it has everything you need & nothing you don't, and reminded both my wife and me of where we grew up. For us there was no better place to reconnect to those memories, in one of the best rural settings someone could ask for. We didn't experience too much around us in terms of businesses, but if you make this trip you'll have plenty to do with reading, relaxing, taking on a hike through some incredible terrain, or enjoying a complimentary bottle of wine from a local vineyard next to their fire pit. Or doing nothing at all, it's perfect for that too. Head this way and unplug, it's worth every penny and every moment. Thanks Preston & Son, until next time! M&S

I’ve been coming here for a number of years and Angela and her cottage are second to none!! We had such a lovely stay at this cute cottage! It was cozy, clean, and had such a peaceful vibe. We especially enjoyed relaxing on the patio—it was the perfect spot to unwind. The location couldn’t have been better: a quiet, safe neighborhood in Alexandria, super close to Washington D.C., and we had no issues with parking at all! Heather was a wonderful host—very kind and quick to respond to any questions we had. We will stay here again in the future!

Great place- right next to the golf cart rentals which was amazing! Seven minute walk to everything. Would definitely stay here again it was a lovely trip!

One of our favorite and most relaxing Airbnb stays! Incredible mountain views, beautifully appointed cottage, lots of wildlife, and a great location for exploring wineries and area attractions. Our dogs enjoyed relaxing with us on the enclosed deck in the evenings. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Diani was responsive and provided a very helpful guidebook and instructions before we arrived. We would absolutely stay here again.
