Butterfly Cottage Sunbird Hill, Kibale Forest edge

Butterfly Cottage at Sunbird Hill, Kibale Forest edge operates entirely on solar energy. It has its own garden within my daughter's 40 acre estate adjacent to Kibale National Park. Julia is a primatologist who spent over 5 years habituating and studying the chimpanzees there. The chimps are not aware of the forest boundary, of course, and often visit Julia's land - especially when the fig trees are fruiting. There is an abundance of birds, butterflies and other interesting creatures.

Lake Kerere Cottage

Enjoy this stunning location, with incredible views over Lake Kerere and Kibale National Park, with the Rwenzoris Mountains as your other view. There are 2 full time staff to help with washing dishes and cleaning. The cottage is situated on 27 acres of private land with 800 meters of lawn on the crater lake rim - all to yourself. It is a 45 minute drive to the chimp tracking starting point. It’s a great spot to go for walks, runs, bike rides and swim in the crater lakes.

Unser Cottage am Rand der Welt wurde von Hand mit regionalen Materialien gebaut. In einem Dorf nahe der Stadt Fort Portal (30 min), findest du Ruhe, Gastfreundschaft und einen Gemeinschaftssinn. Der perfekte Ort für Freiwillige und Urlauber, die eine Organisation unterstützen wollen (auch gerne für längere Zeit). Das Haus ist Teil der Community Organisation Kuza Omuto und einer lokalen Schule. Unsere Gäste erleben also das wahre Dorfleben Westugandas .

The Butterfly House was born out of the need to share our garden goodies and experiencies with other travelers. We grow food, herbs, spices and vegetables in our yard and all guests have access so they or we can prepare fresh meals everyday. We are located in Boma just 2kms from the main Fort Portal City Central business area and can be easily accessed at any time of the day.
