Cabin holiday rentals in Fairfax

The day of our check-in, a big storm knocked out the power to this AirBnb. We didn't arrive until after Mountain Mama's regular hours but I was able to immediately reach someone by calling their urgent issues line. The two people I spoke to were super nice and knowledgeable about the property, helping me locate the breaker to check to see if the power had just been tripped. Once we confirmed that the power was out from the storm, they gave me the power company's estimated time for restoral and even updated me again later that night. Unfortunately, the power still wasn't back by the next morning; as soon as I let them know, Mountain Mama offered to transfer our reservation to another location nearby. They even checked the internet there to make sure the power was on. The transfer was quick and painless and at no additional charge. Honestly some of the best customer service we've ever experienced through AirBnb, would definitely recommend them and stay with them again!

Beautiful A-frame cabin, with all the best touches, linens, and amenities. One of the best Airbnbs in the area in my opinion.

Herry is responsive right away for any questions you may have. What we appreciate the most about this lovely home is the cleanliness. It is not only clean but decorated very nicely. Just a beautiful place. The hot tub was very clean which is so nice, this is probably the cleanest we have ever had, ever. That means a lot! And it is completely private from the neighbors. We also enjoyed the string lights on the patio, the protection screen was fun to watch re-runs of Friends on a rainy night, and the couch is so comfortable! Loved that there is a bedroom on the main level. We had everything we needed. It was easy to get inside, well lit. Nice peaceful quiet neighborhood. We will be back to visit again. Thank you Herry!

Great homey mountain cabin with very detailed and clear instructions for everything. Host was responsive to all questions. Check out chores included stripping beds, emptying fridge, bagging trash, dishes loaded in the dishwasher and started. I generally do these things (other than stripping the beds) in all places I stay, but I know some people dislike having to do them, so thought I would mention it.

Great place to stay in the middle of the woods. Everything from check in, to the stay, to check out was great. The house was truly unique, with the colonial front of the house. The kitchen was fully stocked, and we were pleased there was a Keurig machine and regular coffee pot. The hot tub was great and we loved the secluded location (we saw 2 cars on the road the whole weekend). Towels, linens, and furniture were all great. My wife talked about taking our kids to the same house in the future to do fun things in Loudon County.

We would definitely come back !!! Denny was a great communicator. He was always proactive and let us know everything about the place. The place was clean and well set up. There were a lot of things to do with kids and we especially loved the hot tub !!! Highly recommend !!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Darren’s cabin. The house and location were great phenomenal and she was very responsive and helpful! We can’t wait to visit again!

Beautiful, updated cabin that felt very private and within the woods, while not being too far from things to do as well as not difficult to locate. Very clean and well kept. Great directions and things to do provided by host. Hot tub was a great amenity as well. Excellent cabin with plenty of rooms for a weekend in the woods!

This place could not be more perfect for our trip to DC. It was the perfect distance to the metro. Our group of 8 had so much space of our own, yet plenty of room to be together in the common spaces and not be on top of each other! We went in the coldest month of the year, so unfortunately we didn’t get to experience the best of what the outdoor areas had to offer but the views were breathtaking regardless. Melanie’s place was extremely clean and everything was provided and then some! Everyone in our group would like to go back in warmer months to spend more time outside. Before we got there, Melanie explained that there was an issue with one of the sinks in the cabins and said she would credit us accordingly. I thought that was great! It did not hinder or create a problem whatsoever! I hope we get to make it back sometime!

My significant other and I cannot say enough how thrilled we were with our stay in Shannondale. The view of the mountains from the deck was unbeatable, including a direct view of the sunsets. The cabin had every amenity that we could have asked for (and that we forgot to bring ourselves)! The comfort of the bed exceeded expectations, and I slept better here than in my bed at home. The hosts were very responsive, proactively sending instructions via the Airbnb app for check in and check out. I would not hesitate to recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with a view.

This place was absolutely beautiful. The cabin was perfect for our stay. We brought our 2 dogs and the cabin and surrounding area provided much ample space for our 2 labradoodles. We went to the national park which was about a 25 minute drive. The cabin was comfortable and had absolutely everything we needed. The cabin is on a property with another house so if you want absolute seclusion that is something to think about. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking to stay in the area!

Extremely private and rustic. Some desires left when it came to amenities, namely being able to take longer showers. Some uncleanliness and lackluster pest control is excused as "part of the experience." That being said, hosts are super helpful and wonderful to interact with. The location was fairly remote and private, great for people who want to take a weekend off to clear their mind. There's access to hiking and a small pond, plus other outdoor activities.

What a gem! This cabin hidden in the woods is a perfect getaway location! The cabin itself has great heat and A/C (I got to experience both over 3+ weeks!), excellent hot water pressure in the shower, and the most comfortable bed! In addition, it's fully equipped with everything you could possibly need! Beyond the cabin, the woods are so peaceful, with deer, foxes, squirrels, and badgers! The dogs and I loved our multiple walks per day with not a person in sight. To top it off, Ted is the nicest host I've ever had! So wonderfully friendly and responsive. I hope to stay here again soon!

We had a wonderful stay! We loved the location because it was secluded, peaceful, and less than 20 minutes from two entrances to the AT. The place was very nice! It had a beautiful view, a large yard for the kids to play in, and a nice fire pit. Would love to stay here again!

Great place to stay! Lots of wildlife- birds, turtles, deer, rabbits, etc. Location is very quiet and serene but not far from suburbs which have gas, food, restaurants, ect. Host was FANTASTIC to deal with. Highly recommend the place and these hosts. My only complaint is that we didn’t spend enough time at the house.

I have stayed at vacation rentals all over the US and Gary’s place was exceptional! Very very clean and exactly as presented. I wish all owners would follow Gary’s lead on how to properly be an Airbnb owner. Great job!

This is a beautiful place! The views and property were as described - lovely view of nearby winery's grape vines and mountains. The cabin was well thought out for hanging out at the property with a nice big front porch for dining and a patio with a fire pit. Loved the pew-style bench dining nook. The place was very clean and the fresh cookies s'mores and other treats were a really nice welcoming touch. One thing to keep in mind is that there isn't a TV in the main room (there are TVs in the bedrooms) so something to keep in mind if you're gathering to watch the big game. Overall would definitely stay here again!

Liz was an amazing host and the home and surrounding area were awesome. Liz adds lots of little touches to make you feel extra welcome and appreciated, but I don’t want to ruin the surprises! Liz was super responsive to any questions. We would definitely return to this place!

Idalma was a very great host. Beautiful property filled with green space. There are places to go for entertainment very close by. Also is very peaceful at night! Highly recommend and will happily book again in the near future!

Such a nice off the grid spot with access to great food and restaurants within a short drive, the location was very peaceful and had one of the cleanest portable restrooms I’ve ever used.

What a beautiful and peaceful place to visit the past and full of history too!! The cabin exceeded our expectations!!! We will definitely make this a place we plan on visiting over and over!!! They even have a beautiful bank barn to host weddings!!! We needed more time to explore the beauty this place offers!! A weekend just isn’t enough time!! Our heads were on swivel the entire stay!! And somehow we ended up just driving around and looking for all the historic gems in the area!! Southern charm galore!! Thank u for being on Airbnb!! We sooooo fell in love with this little gem!!!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The property is beautiful and private and quiet. It was exactly as described. We look forward to coming back and staying. Location was perfect for us to enjoy area wineries and the local restaurants. We would definitely recommend this property.

Loved staying at this AirBnB. Great host! Very responsive! First AirBnB I've stayed at actually offered the second "B" of BnB --breakfast, if you like. And you can buy truly fresh eggs from their chickens on the property! AND...walkable to one of my favorite wineries, Paradise Springs!! Lovely place. Lovely host. I will be coming back!
