Our primitive cabin sets at the edge of pristine Little Pine Creek which is fed by the largest spring in Howell County. The sounds of bubbling water, birds singing, and an occasional UAC (Unidentified Animal Call) are all you'll hear in this utterly private setting in the woods. In case you're not sure of the meaning of "primitive", that means no electricity, no plumbing. A fire pit, wood stove (wood provided), and outhouse complete your old-fashion camping adventure!
“Words can’t describe what our experience was like at the this little hidden gem! The cabin experience far exceeded our expectations. Some of our memorable experiences: meals cooked over a wood stove, reading and playing games by serene kerosene lamplight, waking up to a babbling creek, roasting marshmallows over the fire, coffee on the porch swing in the morning, steaks cooked on the grill, little critter visitors (possum, armadillo), finding beautiful rocks in the creek, hiking with amazing views, snuggling in flannel sheets and sleeping in, residing within quaint rustic decor, experiencing primitive living, and the list could go on. Our hosts had special touches throughout the cabin that added to their superb hospitality. If you want to get away from the hectic day in and day out and trade it for a soul-rejuvenating, minimalist experience....this is your place! Hands down...we will be back!!”
Come enjoy a peaceful stay at our 2 bedroom, log inspired guest house. Full bed downstairs and queen in loft bedroom. Spend a relaxing evening around the firepit or in the shade in a hammock, listening to nature as it reveals itself.
“We loved our stay at Karen and Bob’s cabin while in town for a family wedding. This place is the very definition of peace and quiet, we only wish the early March weather had been a bit warmer to take advantage of all the thoughtful outdoor touches. It was a perfect getaway for our small family and I will 100% seek it out again the next time we need to visit “down home”.”

“We cannot say enough great things about our stay at the “shouse” with these incredible hosts! Pat and Rita went above and beyond! They are kind, friendly, and hospitable as can be! The “shouse” is very clean and nicely done with great decor, all new appliances and a big comfy bed. It had everything we needed for an enjoyable getaway. Complete with a bonfire, jiffy pop, wine, games, movies, TVs, ATV, wildlife, and best of all, some amazing scenery. We enjoyed getting out to explore on lots of great hikes throughout Mark Twain National Forest. Highly recommend staying at Pat and Rita’s “shouse” for your next getaway!”
