Cottage holiday rentals in Clappersgate

We stayed at Simon and Belinda's place for a week and it was exactly what we needed. Fantastic location for walks and food. The Wainwright's Inn is only 0.2 miles away. Great food and local ales on your doorstep. The cottage is cosy, the kitchen is well equipped and the information provided was very thorough and useful. There are some books in the house they have prepared to show various walks and local recommendations. We did some of these walks and our 5 year old enjoyed every second! We took advantage of the leisure facilities at The Langdale. This was a great addition to the cottage! Really recommend if you want a place near to town locations, walks and local pubs/cafés/restaurants.

What a wonderful place for a peaceful break away. The house was so comfortable with all the amenities needed. The hot tub was a lovely addition too! My son, who loves wildlife photography, absolutely adored the river. He spent every possible moment down there photographing Kingfishers! I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves birds and wildlife.

Beautiful home, very spacious and plenty of amenities. felt right at home! perfect for toddlers too. Ian was great, very helpful and easily contactable.

We arrived on the Friday for a 3 night stay. The Barn is in a beautiful place inside and out. The Hot Tub was lovely on an evening and the patio fire was great to sit around for drinks early evening watching the Sun go down. Casterton village is only a couple of miles from Kirkby Lonsdale. The village its self had a gorgeous pub 7 mins walk from the Barn which had a great range of food and served Sourdough pizza on Sunday evening after 1700hrs with a lovely warm atmosphere and open fires. There is a great taxi service and some fabulous restaurants near to the Barn. The Black Bull and the Highwayman were fabulous. (We did go to Number 9 also and it was not somewhere I could recommend, service and food really poor.) Patrick and Anika were great responsive hosts and this is a do not miss property, that offers every you need for a fabulous stay. Our little group loved it. Thank you Karen, Denise and Naomi

Charming and full of character, with fabulous pool and hot tub. Loved our stay with family. Granddaughter filled with excitement throughout our stay.

Perfect stay from start to end. It rained when we stayed but that didn’t matter as we spent time in the hot tub under the shelter and the barn was really cosy. Very clean and felt like home. I can’t wait to come back :)

Great cottage, had everything we need and the location was great for what we were doing. Hot tub was an added bonus for the trip.

What an absolute gem we found in Apple House. The pictures really don't do the whole place justice! A cosy, romantic house set in beautiful, serene surroundings. It really was the perfect location for our mini moon! Was lovely to be greeted by the chickens and Russel the dog each morning <3 We were treated to some tasty welcome gifts and the place was spotless, very comfy bed and just the most charming decor. Thank you so much Emma and Craig! We will definitely be returning with more of our family!

We had a fantastic stay at this lovely cottage on Wastwater. The setting is stunning — right on the lake and surrounded by beautiful walking routes, perfect for exploring with our 18-month-old and dog. The cottage is tucked away on a peaceful farm with a great outdoor seating area to enjoy the views. It’s quite remote, with the nearest proper shop about 30 minutes away, but the nearby campsite shop (just half a mile down the road) had the essentials we needed. Other than that, everything was perfect. A truly relaxing break in a beautiful location — we’d definitely recommend it!

The cottage is absolutely lovely! Just be aware the access is through a narrow arch, we got through in a big car but it was a squeeze. The cottage is so comfortable and clean too. The kitchen is fully equipped and the cottage has everything you could need! Gaz was really responsive and it was easy to get into the cottage. Loads to do in Kendal and food and drinks minutes away!

We really enjoyed a few days in Ian's spacious cottage, which is in a great location with easy access to Windermere and Ambleside. A well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds were much appreciated.

Beautiful cottage - comfortable, cosy and equipped with everything you’ll need for a great stay. Lots of lovely original features - especially the wonderful bath and shower! Beautiful bedrooms with comfortable beds and beautiful views. Peaceful location and conveniently located. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend for your stay in the Lakes!

We absolutely 💯 loved our short stay at Nursery end cottage. It was perfect. Warm, comfortable & cosy. It had everything you could think of. We were welcomed with a lovely welcome pack & thankyou card. The cottage is in a beautiful, peaceful area surrounded by sheep and hills. We chose to stay here as it wasn't far from Scafell pike. I would recommend to anyone to stay in this cottage and would definitely book it again. It's just beautiful. We only wish we could of stayed longer.

Stunning location and cottage. Sunshine for our three day stay, the walk's and views are stunning. We would definitely recommend a stay at Duddon View cottage, perfectly situated for soul calming walks in the surrounding fells, better than any medicine. We had a lovely relaxing stay in Angela's high-end cottage.. Excellent location for walking. Peaceful, light sitting room (on 1st floor) with lovely views of the hills. Great beds. Warm house. Good showers. Easy walk down into town, and up into the Coppermine's Valley (gateway to the Coniston fells).

A gem . Incredible location , with breathtaking scenery.Situated on walking path , so various mountain trails on door step . Easy to walk into Ambleside , where there is a great choice of pubs and restaurants. Property is beautiful and incredibly well kitted out … charcoal for the BBQ/ logs for fire/ extensive kitchen equipment etc. Very comfortable. Would love to be lucky enough to get back some day .

Denise and Steve could not have been more accommodating. I was staying in their cottage with my Mum in order to attend her grandson's/my nephew's wedding. Mum is a wheelchair user and the cottage allowed easy access from room to room. Other than the shower, which she would not have been able to access, the flow around the cottage worked beautifully. With views down to Lake Windermere across lush gardens, the situation was beautiful and was a perfect place to stay. We had such a lovely weekend, such that my Mum asked when she could move in!. We had a wonderful stay at The Place. The location is breathtaking, and the house itself is perfect - every detail is beautiful and well thought-out, and Lucy had provided anything one could think of. Everything was of very high quality, from the bed linen and towels to the kitchen equipment. We were all adults, but if you have children, there are lots of toys, games, and activities, so that even on rainy days, there is plenty to do. Great walks nearby, perfect both for those who like hills and those who prefer flatter ground - Buttermere and Crummock are wonderful low ground walks, and of course the walk though Holme Woods to the Kirkstile is lovely. Herdwick Cottage was the ideal place to spend a week in Ambleside. It was clean, cosy, well equipped and in a great location.

Beautiful place, the cleanest place we have ever stayed in. Sitting in the very comfy armchairs by the big window looking out over Ambleside to the beautiful view is beyond relaxing. Free parking pass is a bonus and the small park road car park, 2 mins walk away always had spaces at the end of the day, even on a bank holiday weekend. We would definitely check availability here first next time we visit Ambleside.

We had an absolutely amazing stay! The cottage was perfectly located between all the places we wanted to visit—Catbells, Buttermere, and Rydal were all within easy reach, which made exploring the area super convenient. It was so peaceful and cozy, and we slept incredibly well each night. We did have a bit of trouble understanding the instructions to get into the cottage at first, but Sarah was incredibly responsive and calmly guided us through it, which we really appreciated. One small thing to note is that there were no basic kitchen staples like oil, salt, or pepper. For a short trip, buying full bottles can feel a bit excessive, but it wasn’t a big issue for us overall. All in all, we were very happy with our stay and would definitely come back!

We stayed for a week in Fox Corner for our mini moon and it was perfect for our needs - location couldn’t get better for visiting all of the local spots and there are so many beautiful walks right from the front door. Our pooch was also very comfortable and we appreciated the doggie bed and towel! Dave was so responsive and helpful when we had a minor issue during our stay. We enjoyed the hot tub after coming back from a busy day exploring. Fox Corner had all the bits we needed to have a cosy and comfortable stay. We would definitely return!
