Wansfell Holme is a beautiful Grade 2 Listed period house set in a perfect location in the Lake District National Park, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. We have incredible views over Lake Windermere (100 yards from the house), and there is easy access to the lake, woods and fells . In addition, Waterhead and Ambleside are within easy walking distance, and we are more or less central for visits to other parts of the Lake District by car.

This is a great little place that served as the perfect base for our trip to the Lake District. The unit is located in a nice part of Ambleside, and was clean and comfortable. Exactly what we needed. Victoria was also proactive in asking if we needed any additional things to help our stay with our little one.

What a brilliant place. Lovely setting with views of Windermere Lake from many windows. Very helpful staff in main hotel. Lovely walk down to lake. We did a fab walk up Loughrigg Fell straight from the door. Industrial kitchen, with the commercial dishwasher particularly a hit with our group of 17. Made washing up a doddle. Table tennis was great fun and plenty of space for everyone to relax with three large lounges. Some mattresses had seen better days but all bedding spotless and bedrooms large. We would definitely love to come back one day.

Jane is a brilliant host, her place is very close to the bus stop, and you can basically travel by bus everywhere. She was super nice and kind to me, she took me out walking the next day (b/c she wasn’t busy), and we had the best time! The Lake District is an amazing place, I’ll definitely return for more walks and will gladly stay at Jane’s again. Thank you for making my trip extra memorable!

We got married in the Scottish Highlands and have continued our holiday through the UK and stopped in the Lakes. Kim’s house was absolutely amazing! Something out of a movie and we would definitely love to stay again! I just say, the best part was our little cat visitor from across the lane! 🥰 the house was as kept in pristine condition, within walking distance to everything we needed, plus driving distance to amazing sights. So happy with this stay!

Wendy and Tony were fantastic hosts, and they made us feel totally at home. The location is so special, right on the Cumbria Way. We are so grateful for all the extra help - notably a request for porridge for breakfast before a race I had, and helping me to dry out my shoes afterwards!
