“We highly loved this cozy spot on the Occoquan River—we came for a work trip and felt like we were on a vacation retreat with the river view, bird sanctuary, green treetops outside the window, and cozy blankets on the sofa. There are lots of cute restaurant and shop options right outside the door. The walls are thin, so you could here upstairs and side neighbors (tv, conversation) but it didn’t dampen our enjoyment of this comfy space.”

“The unit is spotless. It’s bright and cozy , it’s got such a perfect location. Everything is walking distance. The Spot restaurant is right next door. They have great food and wonderful drinks. The view is nice out of the front window and the park and walking paths are right out the front door. The location is right on the Main Street and there are so many shops and restaurants close by , once you park , you are all set. The birds nest is well maintained and a bright cheery place to stay.”
Brew Keurig coffee in the gourmet kitchen and take in the many rich details, like a big brick-surround fireplace and staircase chandelier. Interior arches are also cleverly echoed in a pair of paneled arched mirrors, while a jetted tub adds luxury. A lot of our guests are repeat visitors and expect a certain level of peacefulness. Therefore we strongly adhere to Airbnbs “No Party” rule.
“I can't say enough about this beautiful home and it's hosts! We stayed here during the first two weeks of Coronavirus closures, and it was a wonderful place to relax with attentive hosts who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable during this time. Even with many shops closed right now, it's still a lovely town to walk around in and there's even a little park with waterfall at the end of the street. Luckily, the restaurants and Mom's Apple Pie bakery are still open for pickup or delivery (including the yummy thai restaurant downstairs and Third Base Pizza which was delicious). The house itself is a charming mix of historic (exposed brick and high pointed ceilings upstairs) with modern comforts and updates (super relaxing beds, flat screen tvs, updated bathrooms). The two bedrooms upstairs each have their own bathrooms, as well as extra mirrors, chairs, and tvs. The lower level has two eating areas and even an extra daybed and half bathroom. Thanks to Roger and his team, this home will always have a special place in our hearts due to it's peaceful ambiance and their gracious hospitality. Tips: - there's no grocery store in the town of Occoquan, so pick up your milk before arrival :) - there are two parking spaces for The Farmhouse, but we recommend using the one by the fence. The other spot in front of the house is a little tight if other guests are there and the restaurant downstairs often has deliveries where they need to double park behind that spot - be advised that there's another house being built next door, so expect a bit of construction noise during the day (and also some chattering from downstairs). We are city folks, so this stuff didn't bother us, but just something to be aware of.”
