Holiday rentals with a kayak in Bedford County

We had a great time staying at SML! This house was the perfect location and had access to all the outdoor amenities we could hope for. Majority of our time was in the pool, which was walkable and the beach area of the lake which for us was a quick few minutes drive. The lake itself is walkable, but with a toddler and floats, it was easier to drive and park at the beach area itself. Overall, we would recommend staying and plan to return.

We couldn’t have asked for a better home (or hosts!) for our stay. The beds and furniture were comfortable, clean space, lots of different areas to relax so our big group didn’t feel on top of one another. The multiple docks and lake toys plus inside activities if it rained meant we never went without something to keep all ages entertained. The sunsets relaxing, stunning. The wildlife was such a treat, too! We will definitely be back. Thank you!

This home was fantastic for our family. We had a beautiful setting and a great home that was well stocked with everything that we could need. There were plenty of life jackets in all sizes and lots of water play accessories to include a floating island that got a lot of use. Our family (three generations) really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back! Cody was a great host! Quick to respond to our emails. He made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. What a great vacation!

We enjoyed our family getaway at SML! This home was better than expected! It was clean and had plenty of room for 2 families. The location was perfect! It’s tucked away in a private cove which made floating at the dock very peaceful! We’ve stayed on many parts of the lake, but this was by far our favorite location! We will definitely be returning! Thank you for opening your home to us!

what a lucky find! was very flexible when I needed to shift dates. and thorough in providing instructions before hand and on site. mexican spot down the road was lovely, and we appreciated the additional info on what was still open off season. only regret was that we didn't really use outdoor space due to cold weather. but we will return and remedy that next time!

What a beautiful place!! Our whole family loved the deck in the mornings! We had wonderful weather, and the views were just gorgeous as we enjoyed our coffee outside. 😍 Great basement with so many games to enjoy and room for everyone! The gravel driveway is very steep, but thankfully it didn’t rain while we were there, so we had no trouble getting in/out. Very clean, well-stocked house. The closest grocery store is about 30 minutes away, so maybe stop by on your way in. We would love to stay again sometime!

My family really enjoyed our stay.The house was immaculate and well stocked.The fire pit was a great hit as were the Kyacks and paddle board. The house is close to SML state park which we went to a number of times. the ping pong table and game room was also a hit.Megan is a very responsive host!

Above and beyond expectations. I have stayed in many rentals in the past and this place is by far one of the cleanest I have been in. The bed linens were high quality with comfortable mattresses, the bathrooms and kitchen were very clean and well stocked. You could not beat having the lake right there and the powered covered boat slip was perfect. We will definitely stay here again.

Had such a great stay at this house. Beautiful scenery, lots of porch and outdoor space, relatively private from neighboring homes. Bedrooms and amenities were as described. Kitchen was pretty well stocked w/ cooking implements and whatnot. Elizabeth is a super responsive, friendly host that made us all feel at home. Would def go back!

The lake house was absolutely perfect. The house itself had everything we needed and plenty of room for our stay. The dock was great and lounging in the lake on floats was so relaxing. There is also a really cool lakeside restaurant and bar about two minutes down the road that was an added bonus. Definitely want to visit again!

This was our second time staying at Nautical Nook, we absolutely love it here. Truly is a very special place.

Ben was a perfect host. Very communicative and will do whatever it takes to make the stay as good as possible. Beautiful property and very cool layout with multiple dwellings on the property. So many beds! Great lakefront just an easy walk down from the main house. The deck with fire pit and outdoor TV along with the wiffle ball field make for a great place to hangout and spend the day with your group! Would definitely book again!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the cottage for the weekend. It was clean and private, but also close to all the local shops and restaurants. Perfect house for a small family, the kayak's we're a lot of fun and my girls had fun swimming and floating around the dock. We would definitely consider renting again!

What an amazing find! The location is beautiful and the house was perfect. A place you can truly relax because you don’t need to leave. Kate was a wonderful host. We were lucky to find a few open days this year and already booked for next year!

Everything was so perfect here! Christina even had fresh cut flowers in the cabin for us! We were so impressed with the cabin and property but the outside shower was the absolute best! We loved sitting outside listening to the frogs at the pond also. The cabin is near the Natural Bridge,James River and the Application trail, just to name a few of the activities around the area. We will be talking about this amazing stay for years to come!

Ryan was a great host. Friendly and responsive. I have rented a bunch in places in the last decade and Ryan was the best host and photos match the reality perfectly. My family greatly enjoyed the experience.
